Anyone watch the older series? Was Obari an animator on the old one? Maybe Fukuda can get him on this project as he always uses satoshi shigeta

The trailer and animation look amazing, they also seem to have modified the Grendizer a bit as part of the reboot.

I'm curious as to why Sayaka now has purple hair; the choice might have been informed by how Hikaru & Maria both have brown hair. I also have to note that Mazinger's design here seems to be influenced by the original manga version more than anything else.

I may as well try out the recent Grendizer videogame while I'm at it...

Rubina's design has also been changed so now that she's a Blonde instead of having Purple Skin and Red Hair.

Re: Grendizer U (TV) News

I recall seeing them doing a Saucer Beast competition earlier this year where fans could submit their own designs to be a saucer beast. I wonder if they will pull any ideas from the Grendizer Giga manga for the upcoming anime.

Hikaru has got a very different style now, based on the headband I wouldn't be surprised if she is of Ainu descent now. Perhaps they wanted Sayaka's hair to be purple to differentiate her from the Mazinger appearances, since Grendizer is kind of its own timeline compared to Mazinger -> Great -> Infinity.

It's decent fun as a beat-em-up game. Except some very wooden voice acting on the English dub and having to hear Daisuke pronounced as Dye-sue-kay a hundred times.

Re: Grendizer U (TV) News

So will this show be released internationally?

There is an official X page in English so maybe, but it's hard to find if it will air internationally, or who will license it.

It does seem like it will get international streaming release. The X page is in various languages and it's getting a lot of international promotion.

New PV, it'll be only 12 episodes, hopefully it does well

Looks cool, sorry to sound like a broken record, but does anyone know if this will stream internationally?

Fun; I'm enjoying both episodes with all the Fukuda-isms. A clear step up from Koji piloting a dinky flying saucer instead of Mazinger because reasons.

Shame about the budget production values with a lot of the 2D, though. Also still a bit weirded out by Sadamoto Duke's physique & jawline.

The fourth episode was pretty good, the series didn't have the hook me hooked on the pilot, it's slowly taking time in it's plot, strange for a 12 episode series.

Re: Grendizer U (TV) News

I feel like the latest episode's conclusion is one of the most hilarious things to air this season. The more I rewatch it, the more it gets unhinged.

Grendizer's always had the melodrama, but Fukuda just brought out his Cross Ange game here.

Strange ending, not rushed , not quite a cliffhanger, not quite what I expected,

Grendizer U surprisingly wasn't aiming to be a series you can spinoff like Fukudas other works, wonder why it had the elements and they went for a Hamlet type ending

Re: Grendizer U (TV) News

Didn't get much fanfare online, wondering what Fukudas next work will be? I'm hoping he does an ova of something, I don't want to say I was letdown by the show it's hard to place the show, it was a super robot show with melodrama. I wasn't as entertained as I was with Cross Ange and Gundam SEED, those shows plots came together at the end. If it was an OVA series or had more episodes I'd have more to comment.
