Grados History

So with Layzner finally getting a BD release abroad, I just wonder how much backstory was made for the series? Is it ever really explained how big the Grados Empire really is (it seems like they control the whole planet) . More than that is there any backstory given on the history of the Super Powered Tracers? Where they a new design in the Gradision Empire? Had they been used to conquer other Planets before? The Demon Death squad and Karla and Ahmos all seemed to be Aces, so was their a previous conflict on the Planet?
