I must say the hydraulics details made it look like a cute short legged Centaur.
If I ever build a model of it I will leave the tracks out and just put it as the centaur form.
Also, the end of the cannon track for the hands are not covered, it looks like the hand can slide off very easily.

New PV gives us a better look at the GM and the Rick Dom:

The most interesting aspect of these designs for me is the Rick Dom appearing to have a third leg as its back booster.

Similar concept to the Rick Dom III variant, where they used two legs as extra boosters in a manga, though executed much better.SayuriUliana wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 6:49 am New PV gives us a better look at the GM and the Rick Dom:

I don't know which manga was it from, but here are two images

The other images on the first page is Ark Performance's Return of Johnny Ridden but the Rick Dom III's page is definitely NOT from RoJR.

I saw people thinking if they are the Black Tri-star, since only 2 can join Clan Battle, they dissembled one (Rick) Dom and used the legs to be boosters to improve on the low thrust to mass ratio of the Rick Dom.

The manga is titled 濃爆おたく先生 (Nobaku Otaku Sensei), by Yasuyuki Tokumitsu: originally serialized between 1999 and 2001 it tells the crazy stories of a present-day teacher obsessed with Zeon and especially with the Dom series...Similar concept to the Rick Dom III variant, where they used two legs as extra boosters in a manga, though executed much better.

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
The real question is if those are Federal GM's by AE/ Havac or the Zeonic "GM" derived from the company reverse engineering the captured white Gundam and we get a reverse Hi-zack instead of applying Federation tech to the old Zaku frame it's a zeon made Gundam style frame with elements from the Zaku on the suit like the Heat pipes and small Zaku feet.SayuriUliana wrote: ↑Sun Mar 23, 2025 6:49 am New PV gives us a better look at the GM and the Rick Dom:

With the airing of episode 1, I definitely have to say to anyone who was at all skeptical about the MS design, they look much better in action than they do in the lineart. Especially the Gundams.

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
I am pretty excited about a new Gundam series but this first episode was really difficult to watch.
They barely introduced the main characters (did anyone even say their name?) except for some internal monologue. While I'm getting some Eva/Zeta vibes with a civilian jacking a Eva/Gundam from an inconceivably incompetent pilot, it's hard to really relate to her desire to be "free". So as much as it hurts me to admit it, the first episode was just a collage of pretty cool moments.
I'm really looking forward to the next episode fleshing out the universe and its characters some more as their own so we can see this show as more than just an alternate UC universe
I think the showrunners are depending a bit too much on previous knowledge of the UC universe and/or having watched the movie which I've heard has different pacing

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
So how much information is there about the Gundam GQuuuuuuX itself? From the episode it seems to be a new unit used to search for Char's Red Gundam (which in itself is a bit like Pheonix Hunt from Unicorn and Narrative).
Was it built for this purpose? Or was it a testbed? Zeon doesen't have a lot of new equipment, so it seems as if there would be a important purpose to this unit.

We probably don't know for certain yet considering we don't even know the Gundam's real name.
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
I really enjoyed the RX-78-01 getting some time to shine this time around but it was a bit funny that it exploded after its head was cut off. Maybe the explosion was due to the igniting of its own head vulcan rounds?
I'm not seeing any reference to multiple RX-78-02 units being built but I'm wondering if the Federation still built additional powerhouses/Gundams since they were able to take Solomon (which I assume had a Big Zam since we saw several in the flashback)

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
Considering we know the Vulcan ammunition is stored in the upper torso and belt-fed into the barrels on the head, I'd say that's pretty likely. The rounds cooked off as a result of the ammunition belts being cut by Char's beam saber, and the detonation of the rounds in the torso set off secondary explosions that destroyed the mobile suit.

That could definitly happen, that actually happened to an MS (either a Jeagan or Geara Doga) in CCA where the head was destroyed an the suit blew up.

Mobile Suits in general tend to be, in TVTropes terms, Made of Explodium. They explode violently at the slightest provocation.
According to the "Deluxe" version of the Beginning pamphlet, did still build powerhouse Mobile Suits after the loss of the Gundam. The Federation's response to the loss of the Gundam was to develop a new design that hybridized the RX-78 Gundam and RX-77 Guncannon. The RGM-79 Light-type Guncannon was the result. It's said that the resulting machine preserves the close combat capabilities of the RX-78 Gundam and the artillery-grade firepower of the RX-77 Guncannon in one Luna Titanium-armored mass produced package.

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
Do these RX-78/RGM units have a coreblock system? I see it mentioned on the Wiki but unless the coreblock is that "Ball" looking center of the mobile suit then it seems to be incorrect?
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
I don't recall seeing any core block system in the lineart so that answer is likely "No, TBD". But we also may not may never see if it does because these RX-78s are not the focus of the show. GQuuuuuuX may have one.

Wait a minute, I'm having a sudden thought. Going back to the -01, I just realized: I don't see any Vulcans on its head. Does it not have them? If that's the case, then the total explosion of the mobile suit just from getting its head hacked off becomes harder to explain, though I suppose we can just chalk it up to the usual trope of mech not piloted by main characters being https://www.google.com/search?client=sa ... explodium in general.

Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
Interesting point. I did initially think Leo-vibes of exploding once there's a "critical" hit but from the screenshot, it doesn't look like the beam sabers or backpack was sliced/damaged either (which could be another source of the explosion)Dark Duel wrote: ↑Sun Apr 20, 2025 5:25 pm Wait a minute, I'm having a sudden thought. The RX-78-01 is a curious case though since it not only lacks vulcans but also chose to not sortie with its beam rifle (opting to use the bazooka despite its limitations). I hope the story (or lore/wiki) addresses this at some point.
Re: The Official Gundam GQuuuuuuX Mecha Thread Mk I
Yeah, that is an odd omission. It's not like they were inside a colony or anything...though the colony was right behind the Zeon ships, so perhaps the use of the bazooka was...let's call it an abundance of caution.
