Chapt 6

The defeat by Gai stuns Gina so much that he is in a daze throughout the trip back to the base. In the base, the fact that he is not as strong as Gai weighs heavily in Gina’s heart and as he has high opinion of himself, he cannot tolerate the defeat. Gina then makes a decision; he walks towards the mechanical engineer and orders him to modify his machine. The engineer is surprised by this as according to the data, Mirage Frame 2nd Issue cannot be piloted by anyone (including Coordinators). Gina insists on the modification and says that he will handle the pilot issue himself before heading towards the medical room. He thinks that modifying his body will solve the problem and is confident that the organisation has the required technology. Although they did not say it out loud, some of the doctors are delighted by Gina’s request as they now got to try the modification techniques on a human body. The operation lasted more than 48 hrs and upon waking; Gina immediately walks towards the hangar. His MS is successfully upgraded to Mirage Frame 2nd Issue and he swears that he will defeat Gai. Gina’s forehead turns white while the artificial blood vessels on his face surfaces, all these happens because he has not yet master control over his new body.

After Un’no’s failure, Librarian Works immediately send Nebula Blitz to deal with Lowe. Although he is surprised by its ability, and even calls it the greatest crisis he ever met, he still regards it as an exciting event. As a mechanical engineer, Lowe has difficulty supressing his interest in the unique system. Lily calmly remarks that even his master cannot defeat her and claims that Lowe will be finished in her next attack. Nebula Blitz suddenly disappears and reappears behind Lowe’s Red Frame; it now has the latter in its energy absorption claw and starts to drain its energy. Lily yells at Lowe to go to hell and he immediately notices the change in the way she speaks and wonders what is wrong with her. In another surprising shift of tone, Lily gently apologises and says that this is Prayer’s order. Lowe is shocked to hear that name but soon faints as the life support system fails. After an unknown period of time, Lowe wakes up. He discovers that Red Frame is undamaged and remains in the area where the battle occurred. The life support system has restarted thanks to the backup battery, and the enemy is nowhere to be seen. Lowe does not understand what happened and cannot think of a reason why he is still alive. He is however certain that he if does not get stronger, he will die in his next encounter with Nebula Blitz. Lowe is now determined to modify Red Frame.

Gina’s wish to fight with Gai again has fully consumed him and he launches in the yet to be adjusted Mirage Frame 2nd Issue. Although Prayer has ordered him to stop his attack, he ignores it. Outside the base he encounters Nebula Blitz; Lily wants him to obey the Supreme Librarian’s order. Gina again refuses and transforms his MS into its beast-like ‘Brute Mode’; a transformation that is extremely fitting for him. Lily is a bit surprised that Gina wants to fight her, as all Librarians know that she pilots the strongest MS in the organisation and due to its ability to teleport, no attack can hit it. She then comments that Gina must be extremely confident in his MS’s ability for him to attack her despite knowing about her MS’s power. She is aware that Gina has his own body modified to improve his fighting capability and knows that she cannot let her guard down. Gina attacks and Lily prepares to teleport away but Mirage Frame 2nd Issue is faster, it manages to close in on Nebula Blitz before the latter’s mirage colloid particles cover its whole body. Mirage Frame 2nd Issue then moves around Nebula Blitz and launches numerous attacks against it. Lily recognises this as ‘Brute Force Attack’, an attack that should only be possible in theory and is regarded by Librarians as impossible in real combat. Her voice is trembling due to fear and she feels like she is surrounded by multiple enemies and is constantly under their attack. Gina then mocks Lily, wondering why she isn’t using the teleporting ability which would allow her to escape from his attacks easily. Lily bites her lower lips; due to a certain reason, Nebula Blitz cannot teleport when surrounded by the enemy. Gina finds the battle boring and proceeds to penetrate Nebula Blitz’s cockpit with the saber fangs. He calls Nebula Blitz a useless MS as it explodes, but his heightened senses soon warn him that there are other enemy units in the area. He finds this interesting and realises what is going on. He changes direction and a Nebula Blitz is there.

Elsewhere, Lowe is using Red Frame Kai to help build a colony. He did not heed Kisato’s advice to hide and counters by saying that he cannot work if he is hiding. Red Frame Kai is using Tactical Arms II in Work Form; although Red Frame is modified in preparation for another fight with Librarian Works, Lowe also took the chance to incorporate functions that can improve his work efficiency. Work Form is also well-liked by the other junkers; they not only like its high performance, but also its good look. Suddenly, a voice comments that Lowe is arrogant and he recognises it as Lily’s. Lowe is not aware that this is a weird thing as far away from his location, Lily is battling Gina. Lily wants Lowe to surrender and says that this is an order from Prayer. Lowe questions if it is because of Prayer’s order that he is left alive in the previous battle. Lily replies that she is not sure and tells him to ask Prayer himself after surrendering. Nebula Blitz then executes its teleporting ability, appearing and disappearing in various locations nearby. Lowe remarks that he finds it interesting no matter how many times he see it but adds that he already know its secret.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's chapter 7 and we are half way through the story.

Upon noticing that his enemy is Lily, Lowe immediately activates the mirage colloid detector. If he had activated it before hand, he may have been able to detect her presence earlier. He did not do that because he rarely uses it and Kisato is always telling him to switch off unnecessary systems to save power. Lowe is certain that Nebula Blitz’s teleportation ability has something to do with mirage colloid particles. Once again, Lowe detects the change in Lily’s voice as she speaks. The teleporting Nebula Blitz suddenly appears behind Red Frame Kai, the latter quickly turns around but it is not fast enough. Tactical Arms II is hit and the impact causes it to fall off its attachment point. 8 tells Lowe that the attachment point needs to be readjusted and he replies that it will be the first thing he do if he manages to return safely. 8 puts the task at the top of Lowe’s ‘To do’ list but changes its mind and bump it down to second place. It then places ‘Survival’ at the top and Lowe agrees. Nebula Blitz continues to teleport around and the mirage colloid detector soon detects the particles. Lowe has already figure out the trick behind Nebula Blitz’s teleportation and feels that the location at which it reappears holds the key to unravelling the mystery. Although he does not have any proof, he is confident that he can solve the puzzle. Nebula Blitz launches numerous attacks as it teleports and so far, Red Frame Kai has not received any serious damage but Lowe is aware that if he does not find the answer soon, he will be in grave danger.

Lily expresses her intention to end the battle but Lowe is determined not to go down that easily and wants to find the truth behind the teleportation trick so that even if he dies, he will die in peace. Red Frame Kai picks up the Tactical Arms II and changes it into Arrow Form, Lowe is confident that with it he will finally learn the truth. With Red Frame Kai at the centre, Tactical Arms II’s ‘Voiture Lumiere’ system is activated and the generated field can be used to detect the movement of enemy units. The system picks up multiple units in the area and this confirms Lowe’s suspicion that the ‘teleportation’ is accomplished by multiple units cloaking and uncloaking in turn. The changes in Lily’s voice also support the fact that there are multiple enemies. Analyzing the data, Lowe discovers that there are 6 enemy units and remarks that it will be difficult to handle them all. Lowe aims the Arrow Form at the location of an enemy unit and fires. A beam arrow shoots out and a Nebula Blitz that is in the line of fire quickly evades. However Lowe’s attack is not aimed at it, the arrow turns and passes through the seemingly empty targeted area. 8 wonders if the attack missed but Lowe dismisses it and just then the cloaked Nebula Blitz that is hit explodes. 8 asks if Lowe’s shot killed the pilot but he shakes his head and says that as a junker, he does not kill anyone. 8 then points out that the enemy MS is so heavily damaged that it explodes and Lowe agree that the explosion seem to be bigger than expected. Lowe hurries towards the defeated Nebula Blitz; the other Nebula Blitz(s) did not attack him, it is possible that the other pilots are also concerned about their defeated comrade.

Meanwhile, at another location, Gina has also figured out how Nebula Blitz’s ‘teleportation’ work. He is not bothered by the presence of multiple Nebula Blitz(s) and launches an attack at the unit in front of him. Nebula Blitz immediately activates its mirage colloid system, but invisibility is useless as it does not allow the MS to avoid Gina’s attack and it is destroyed while cloaking. Another unit tries to help but as it makes its move, it is quickly pounced on by Mirage Frame 2nd Issue. A few minutes later, the battle ends and 6 Nebula Blitz are destroyed. Artificial blood vessels that surface on Gina’s face during the battle disappear and he feels extremely exhausted, maintaining his battle form is very stressful for his body. His sharp eyes catch sight of something and the sensors inform him that an object is closing in rapidly. Base on the speed, Gina accurately guesses that the incoming unit is Gale Strike. He regards it as a troublesome enemy as it can fight at the same level as 2nd Issue. As Gina has disobeyed the organization’s order, he is not surprised that it would continuously send assassins to attack him. Surprisingly, Gale Strike did not take out its weapon even though it is within attack range. Gina questions ND HE what is the meaning of his action. HE replies that he is here to inform him that Prayer has approved his fight with Gai and that he will be accompanying him so as to retrieve his combat data. Gina could not understand why his actions are approved and although he wants to say something, he quickly thought better of it. He does not care anymore what Librarian Work does and is not bothered by HE tagging along. As long as he can fight with Gai, nothing else matters.

As HE follows Gina, he thinks of his earlier conversation with Prayer. HE is disturbed by the recent betrayals as well as Gina’s disobedience and his subsequent battle with Lily. He has never heard before of such a loose and chaotic organization. Prayer agrees that it is indeed worrying but he does not sound like it and this causes HE to question if he has already expected the betrayals beforehand. Such quick thinking is inherited from the person that his character is based upon. Another factor that causes him to come to this conclusion is that he had earlier noticed that there are people in the organization prone to betray it. Thus, the incidents do not surprise him; what he cannot understand is in what way the betrayals benefit the organization. Prayer asks HE not to ask him for the detailed reasons and the latter pointedly remarks that he does not understand why Prayer is deliberately setting up these betrayals. Prayer then proposes that if HE betrays the organization during combat, he may gain some understanding. HE is unsure how serious Prayer is and feels that the latter may be mocking him. Prayer senses HE’s anger despite the helmet he wears and asks him to calm down, he then suggests that HE accompanies Gina and says that the latter will not mind. He explains that by being together with a betrayer, HE may realize something and adds that it would be a great help if he also retrieves Gina’s combat data.

HE agrees and Prayer comments that his character really resembles that of the original person and that he can even visualize his expression while talking to him. HE brushes Prayer’s words aside and left the room. In another location, Gai and Elijah are exchanging information on Librarian Works. In order to customize Vent Saviour for his own use, Elijah brings it along as he travels to space. He had tried to pilot it immediately after he got it but failed badly. This is not surprising as he has always piloted machines that are customized for him. He is aware that the new MS will be a great help and because of this, he is here to seek Lowe’s help as he is the best man for the job.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's chapter 8 and we have a bit of story with Finis and Kaite.

Although teenage soldiers are not that uncommon, Kisato is still surprised that a young girl is pilot of the powerful Librarian Works’s MS. Due to Lowe’s carelessness; there are multiple wounds on the girl’s body and Kisato is now cleaning them. She notes that it is lucky that the girl is still alive and grumbles about Lowe injuring her. However if Lowe is the one that is hurt, she will most likely scold the girl. This behavior of Kisato’s is simply due to the fact that she hates war; Lowe knows this and apologizes for the mistake. He is thankful that the other enemy units retreated and did not attack him when he tries to save the girl. He is unsure if Librarian Works will attack again but knows that he needs to remain vigilant. Kisato then informs him that Gai and Elijah are on their way to meet him. Lowe is aware that they fought with Librarian Works and thinks that he will be able to get valuable information and interesting views of the organization from them.

Due to Hail Buster’s attack, section of the colony exploded. Thanks to the mirage colloid system, Hail Buster is able to move to the best shooting position while the enemy is unaware and attack from there. Finis is laughing but it is not from the bottom of his heart as his laughter is devoid of any emotion. In the past, he is happiest when destroying things but today, he finds it boring. Finis then wonders when this feeling started. Carbon Human Gina inherited the original Gina’s personality very strongly and is thus a very arrogant man. Finis hates such personality and feels that the modification Gina did to his body and MS are reckless. He however acknowledges that they make Gina stronger and because of this, he does not need his support anymore. Finis is initially elated that he does not need to be Gina’s babysitter anymore, but it is when he is carrying out his mission independently that he notices that destroying things do not make him happy anymore. Although his dislike of Gina still remains, he cannot help but wonder if this change in him is due to Gina. He wants to tell ND HE, who is working with Gina now, that he is very unlucky. He notes that the revengeful Gina is in fact a very ‘broken’ person. Finis then realizes that he is attracted by Gina as the ‘destruction’ within him is extremely severe and because of that, normal destruction does not interest him anymore. Finis then decides that upon returning, he will request that the Supreme Librarian pair him up with Gina again. He is determined to see how ‘broken’ Gina can be; will make sure that he becomes thoroughly ‘broken’ and for that to happen, he will save Gina from all kinds of danger. As he imagines how ‘broken’ Gina can be, he begins to laugh from the bottom of his heart.

Above a forest on earth, Regen Duel is battling a GINN team and Kaite wins the battle effortlessly. He finds the battle boring but still completes the task as the dignity of a professional is important to him. Kaite works for Librarian Works because he is interested in their MS; he spends almost all the money he earned on collecting MS and as a result, he is likely to be the only person in the world who owns multiple MS. Thus, it is not surprising that he is interested in Librarian Works as they modify MS in unexpected manner. After he is employed by them, he finds the assignments given to him to be uninteresting. There is a lot of fighting and although battling is a part of his job as a professional MS pilot, they are not his main job as he is not a mercenary. Attacking ZAFT troops can be said to be a standard mission and the earlier attack on Serpent Tail is worse as it turns out to be a farce. Kaite however admits that Gud executes his plan really well. So far, Kaite is still unsure what Librarian Works’s goal is but he is certain that things will become clear soon as the organization’s activities have increased. His goal now is to know the organization’s motive and he is willing to do as told until then, even if that means fighting with Elijah again. As for what he will do after that, he will think about it when the time comes. Kaite then ponders about his relation with Elijah.

Lowe agrees to help Elijah in customizing the Vent Saviour and starts to the check the MS with a smile on his face. The truth is he is actually more interested in modifying the rare MS than helping Elijah. He notes that the MS’s ability to transform and use striker pack does make it difficult to pilot and quickly thought of a suitable modification for it. Lowe rushes over to another hangar and returns with Nebula Blitz’s parts. Elijah remarks that the parts bear a similarity to Gold Frame Amatsu’s energy absorption claw and Lowe explains that Librarian Works has modified the design into a striker pack. Lowe then adds that the mirage colloid particles that the equipment releases may help in controlling air resistance. This is just Lowe’s intuition and he is actually correct as Librarian Works has verified that the energy absorption claw is beneficial for Vent Saviour. Lowe arrives at the same conclusion based on his knowledge about the equipment’s basic performance as well as its shape, and this is thanks to the experience that he has accumulated as a junker so far. Although Elijah is happy that Lowe is working on the customization immediately, he feels that they should discuss about Librarian Works first. Before Lowe can reply, Gai points out that he is capable of discussing with others while working. The 3 of them then start to exchange information about the organization and discuss how to deal with the mysterious group.

Canard quietly mutters Prayer’s name, that name has appeared in his mind several times and until now he never say it out. Even though Prayer has died, for Canard, he will always be alive within his heart and will always be by his side. He is thus shocked to learn that Prayer is now Librarian Works’s Supreme Librarian and immediately regards that person as an imposter. This greatly angers him as he cannot stand the thought of a ‘fake’ Prayer and he starts to make his move.

Chapt 9

Kisato helps Lily with the Junk Guild’s work attire as the latter silently puts it on. As far as Lily is concerned, she is now in the enemy’s territory and is a prisoner of war. It is only natural that they want information about Librarian Works from her and she has decided that unless the information is classified, she will tell them what they want to know and will act as told as she deems that resisting is useless. Lily is confident that her companions will soon rescue her and is willing to tolerate till then. ‘Companions’ here meant the other Lily(s) in the organization; Librarian Works have a total of 20 Nebula Blitz and the same number of Lily Thevalley exists. Lowe walks by and questions if she is feeling better. Lily cannot figure out how she lost to Lowe and she does feel the vibe of a MS pilot from him. Kisato then replies that her wounds are fine now. Lily also cannot figure out what is Kisato’s job; as Junk Guild is not a combat oriented organization, she is not surprised that some of the members are useless during combat. However, she just cannot see how Kisato contributes to the organization and although she is taking care of her, Lily has a difficult time imagining that Junk Guild would deploy someone to specifically look after her. She wonders if Kisato is holding an important post somewhere out of sight and finds it likely that she is a psychological expert skilled in extracting information from prisoner of war. The fact that Lily cannot find any other reasons why Kisato is taking care of her so warmly further supports her suspicions and she raises her guard against Kisato immediately.

A lady behind Lowe wonders if Lily is a new recruit and he introduces Lily as the pilot of the MS he defeated earlier and adds that they should try to get along. The lady then identifies herself as Yoon and extends her hand for a handshake. Lily is troubled by Lowe’s call for them to get along and is further stumped by Yoon’s willingness to shake hands with a former enemy. She wonders if they are trying to extract information from her while she is confused by their actions. As she has never been in such a situation before, she does not know how to respond and finds the whole experience weird. To her, physical tortures are easier to handle. As Lily stares blankly at Yoon’s outstretched hand, the latter wonders if she dislike shaking hands. Kisato then point outs that it is because Yoon’s hand is full of grease. Yoon quickly apologizes and rubs her dirty hand on her attire; she then puts her hand out again while commenting that it is now clean. Lily cannot help but exclaims that that is not where the problem lies.

ND HE enquires if Gina knows where Gai is and although the latter did not check Librarian Works’s system for the latest information on Gai before launching, he is however certain that Gai will appear if he attacks any of the Junk Guild’s facilities. HE does not believe that attacking someone unrelated will lure Gai out and questions Gina about it. Although he asks in a calm voice, one can still detect hints of anger in it. Gina simply replies that there is no need for hesitation if such acts are necessary and reveals that if destroying Junk Guild’s facilities fail to make Gai appear, he plans to attack Ame-no-Mihashira again. HE later realizes that he will not be able to talk Gina out of it but he has no wish to participate in senseless killing. Although Librarian Works do not have any new information about Gai’s whereabouts, HE figures out a possible location after considering the latest news regarding Elijah’s meeting with Lowe. He tells Gina his deductions and the latter remarks that the way he is thinking is similar to someone he knows. Gina asks who HE really is and when he did not reply, Gina states that he will find out the truth by using force. Mirage Frame 2nd Issue transform into Brute Mode and attacks Gale Strike.

Gale Strike pulls out its Wing Saws and HE quickly analyses his surroundings. There are numerous small asteroids floating around and HE notes that they can be utilized as stepping points by 2nd Issue’s Brute Mode. He concludes that the area is beneficial to Gina and moves Gale Strike away. HE’s latest action further confirms Gina’s suspicion, he remarks that it is an iron rule that mercenary do not battle under conditions favorable to the opponent and calls HE a carbon human clone of Gai. HE is not bothered at all that Gina has figure out his secret and remains fully concentrated on the battle at hand; this is an attribute that he inherited from Gai. 2nd Issue leaps from one asteroid to another while attacking Gale Strike. Mercenary tries to avoid unnecessary fighting if possible and HE tries to convince Gina that he is not his enemy while avoiding the attacks. He mentions that even though he is a carbon human of Gai, it does not change the fact that he is on Gina’s side. Gina replies that it is unforgivable that HE is an imposter of his sworn enemy and labels his existence as an insult to Gai. HE did not expect such a response from Gina and 2nd Issue’s attacks intensify. Mirage Frame 2nd Issue transforms back into Tyrant Mode and slashes with its katana. Gale Strike manages to block the attack using its Wing Saw but the impact throws HE off his seat. His head knocks into something and the helmet cracks, revealing a face that resembles a young Gai. HE then agrees to fight Gina and points out that Gina is just like him, an imposter. He then adds that he is therefore the most suitable opponent for Gina. Deliberately saying things that will provoke the enemy, this is again another trait of Gai’s.

Yoon enjoys holding Lily’s hand and remarks that it is very warm and delicate. Lily is embarrassed and shakes off Yoon’s hand, the latter then comments that her reaction is cute. Lily experiences a wonderful feeling in her heart whenever Yoon says something about her. Lowe then reminds Yoon that their break is over and mentions that they are left with the final adjustment for Gold Frame Amatsu as well as the last bit of customization for Vent Saviour. Kisato cheers them on while Lily remains in her confused state. Lily suddenly remembers the calm feeling while speaking to Prayer and notes that the junkers are too noisy in comparison but she also notices that at a deeper level, both sides have something similar. What they have in common, Lily cannot say. At that moment, she senses that her companions are nearby and although she is glad that they are here, she does not want them to attack Junk Guild as she feels that it is a mistake. If Librarian Works want anything from Junk Guild, they should talk it over. She believes that Junk Guild can be persuaded to hand over the things that the organization wants. Lily is surprised by her own thoughts but she still goes into action, the first thing to do is to get in touch with her companions. She begs Kisato to bring her to the hangar, once there she spots Gold Frame Amatsu and rushes towards its cockpit. Lily then declares her intention to go outside and wants them to open the hangar door immediately if they do not want it destroyed. The door opens and Lily moves Gold Frame Amatsu out so that she can stop her companions.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

The title of this chapter is 'Gai vs Gai' but it is not referring to a fight between them. Read on to find out more.

Chapt 10

While Gai and Elijah are up in space, Reed and Loretta stay on earth to collect information as well as prepare battle strategies for the upcoming battles. Reed, the intelligence expert, manages to gather a lot of information about Librarian Works and explains what carbon human is to Loretta. He also explains that Lowe met with a younger Un’no because Librarian Works only have data of his younger self but adds that even if they have the data on the older Un’no, they would still most likely create a younger version as he is at his prime then. Loretta remarks that all carbon humans seem to use data from dead people and Reed quickly points out that there is an exception. Loretta notices the playful look in his eyes and knows that he is going to say something important.

As they are long-time friends, she manages to guess correctly that he is referring to a carbon human clone of Gai. Reed is not at all surprise that a smart lady like her manages to guess correctly what he wants to say. Loretta comes to that conclusion as she believes that everybody also want a person as strong as Gai and says that if possible both she and her daughter also want one too. Reed then jokes about a Gai for every person instead of one for each family and states that what they want is not Gai as a soldier but as a family member. As usual, his joke is not funny at all. According to Reed, it is very difficult to get Gai’s personal data and at most, one can only obtain data of his younger self when he was in EA. Gai was previously part of EA’s combat coordinator program and EA still has that data. Loretta then realizes that Gai’s carbon human is actually a copy of his younger self; Reed confirms it and remarks that it is the Gai before they met him. He also says that the existence of Gai’s carbon human is a secret within Librarian Works; he wears a helmet and goes by the name ‘HE’. This is because a carbon human of someone still alive may cause chaos within the organization if it is not handled properly. Loretta remarks that she wishes to meet with HE and a mischievous grin appears on her face. Reed immediately asks her to forget it and says that the youthful and passionate version of Gai will be difficult to handle. He also points out the age gap between them. Loretta calls him rude and says that although her feminine charm does not work on the ‘real’ Gai, it is a different story when it comes to the younger him. She explains that young man has difficulties resisting a woman with motherly instincts and adds that Reed should have experience it before. Unabashedly, Reed admits it and agrees with her. Loretta then questions how he manages to get information about the mysterious organization and Reed replies that it is through the usual method, contacts within the organization leaked the information to him. Although this sounds unbelievable, Loretta did not probe further as this is not the first time such thing happens.

The battle between Gale Strike and Mirage Frame 2nd Issue falls into a stalemate as both sides are evenly matched. The fight ends abruptly when both ND HE and Gina are alerted to the presence of another MS. They quickly pull away from each other; the newcomer may be another enemy and the fight may become 2 vs 1. To prevent that, it is better to keep a distance from each other. That MS soon comes to a stop between them; both Gina and HE recognize it and know that its pilot is Canard Pars. Canard wants to know where Prayer is and reveals that he wants to kill him. Gina understands his feelings as they are in similar situation; they want to get rid of the imposter of someone they feel strongly about. However, it will look bad for him if the leader of the organization he belongs to is killed easily. Gina suggests to HE that they cease their battle temporarily and fight Canard together. This does not mean that Gina cannot take on Canard alone; he just does not wish to use his full powers against anyone other than Gai. HE signals to Gina that he agrees by moving Gale Strike into a fighting pose. Canard has no problem with fighting them; he notes that both MS are customized for melee combat and deploys his MS’s sword mode. Canard declares that he will teach them what ‘real’ melee combat is and wants them to tell him Prayer’s whereabouts after that. He raises the swords and attacks. HE is excited as he can now test his strength against a strong opponent. Although he knows that he should relax and handle the situation calmly, he has difficulties suppressing his excitement. This is the youthful impulse that the ‘real’ Gai lost. Later, Gai appears and make HE even more excited. Gina is glad that he can meet his sworn enemy again while Canard just regards Gai’s appearance coldly.

At the same time, near the Junk Guild base, Lily informs her companions that the fight with Junk Guild is unnecessary and that the problem can be solved through talks. However the other Lily(s) do not heed her suggestion and aim their weapons at Gold Frame Amatsu.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Chapter 11 is titled 'X Astray' but it is not referring to dreadnought gundam, read on to know what it refers to. Also, this chapter contains Gina VS Gai round 2 and the outcome is a bit surprising...

Blue Frame 2nd R’s appearance shocks everyone. ND HE quickly reminds himself to keep calm and that defeating Canard is his top priority. To be calm and focus on the task at hand, this is another of Gai’s trait that HE possesses. Although Gina will engage Gai, HE does not believe that he will win. HE declares that he will defeat Canard and become the ‘real’ Gai. Canard is amused by this while HE is surprised by how calm he is and wonders if he is faking it. If the situation permits, HE also wishes to challenge Gai but now is not the time for that; it will happen only when he is confident of defeating him. Gina did not conceal his excitement at meeting Gai; his modified body reacts to his emotions and all the artificial blood vessels swell, becoming more visible. In terms of appearance and abilities, Gina is gradually becoming non-humane. He transforms Mirage Frame 2nd Issue into Brute Mode and shouts out Gai’s name; it is very similar to a beast’s roar and vaguely recognizable as a human’s. The murderous intent in his voice is so strong that a normal soldier will lose his fighting will upon hearing it, but Gai is not at all affected, he shifts his attention from Gina to ND HE. The first to notice this is Canard, he wonders if Gai is using him to test ND HE.

Dreadnought H exchanges several blows with Gale Strike and Canard notices that the pilot is young and his movement is very similar to Gai’s. Canard does not mind testing ND HE’s strength for Gai and the words ‘X Astray’ suddenly flashes across his mind. These words are actually another name for Prayer’s Dreadnought Gundam but Canard finds that it also describes the current situation. ‘Astray’ originally means someone who is finding his own path and now on the battlefield, the thoughts of those finding their own path are crossing (‘X’). Canard cannot help but wonders if the battle is cause by Prayer. If that is the case, the more he should go all out and fight; afterall, for Canard, there is no other option besides fighting and winning.

With each attack, Gale Strike’s Wing Saws are gathering data on the opponent’s armour material. The blade’s vibration frequency can then be adjusted for better cutting capabilities. With sufficient data, it can even slice through PS armour with ease; Librarians thus believe that no other weapon can surpass it. ND HE plans on ending the battle with the next strike and just like Gai, he is calmly analyzing the situation and planning his next move. No matter how strong the enemy is, there will always be parts that can be damaged easily and by hitting it at the right time, one will obtain victory. Canard suddenly speaks and remarks that ND HE seems to have found a way to win. HE initially plans to ignore him but after reconsidering, he realizes that it is actually a good opportunity to provoke Canard. His chance of victory will be higher if Canard reverts to his old quick to act self. HE questions what if that is the case and Canard replies that it means that he miscalculated. HE cautiously asks for the reason as a bad reply will cause him to be the one that is provoked. Gai is skilled at such war of words and HE is confident that he has the same ability; he thus takes the initiative and mentions that Canard is a failed Ultimate Coordinator. Canard did not take the bait; he admits it and deliberately slows down his speech before pointing out that ND HE’s mistake is that he is not Gai.

HE is aware that Canard is taunting him but he could not calm himself down. With much difficulty, he asks Canard to try him. He feels that no matter how he replies the enemy will still notice that he is wavering. HE starts to miss his helmet; with it, he is ND HE and not Gai. The helmet not only serves to hide his real identity within the organization but also allows him to forget that he is a younger Gai. Excessive realization that he is a younger Gai is detrimental but HE is at a lost about how he should react. In the end, he decides that the best way to pull his mind away from this confusion is to take action. This is a hot blooded decision characteristic of a youth and HE warns Canard of his impending attack. HE correctly aims at the weak spot but it is unfortunate that his opponent is just too strong. Using the high output and brute strength provided by the nuclear engine, Dreadnought H easily knocks away Gale Strike’s Wing Saw. HE is aware of the power difference between their MS, but he simply cannot find an answer to such raw power. As Gai watches the battle, he wonders if that is his battling style when he was younger. From what he remembers, that seems to be the case but at the same time, something feels different. No matter what it is, HE is not him; even though they share the same data, they are already different and distinct since birth.

Mirage Frame 2nd Issue attacks with lightning speed but Blue Frame 2nd R easily evades it. Gina is shocked and attacks again but the result repeats itself. Gina is puzzled and tries to think of a reason; the artificial blood within him is capable of transporting a large amount of oxygen and helps speeds up his thinking, but he still cannot figure out why. Left with no other choice, he just repeats his futile attack again and again. Frustrated by his failure to hit Gai, Gina curses loudly. Upon hearing Gina’s frustrated roar, HE pulls away from Canard and glances at the battle between Gina and Gai. He finds that Gina is faring very badly and although he expects Gai to have the upper hand, he did not think that the gap between them would be this big. HE notices that Gai is looking his way and wonders why he is doing such an illogical thing during a battle. He soon figures out that Gai is deliberately ignoring Gina so as to provoke the latter. Despite having a strengthen body and mind, Gina did not notice that he is under performing because he has fallen for Gai’s trap. HE concludes that no matter how much Gina modifies his body and his MS, he will never win Gai because the part of him that controls all his capabilities, his mental side, has already lost the battle. HE is not all confident that he can replicate what Gai just did.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Time to end the other battle that started in chapter 10.

Chapt 12

All Lily(s) are implanted with quantum communication device so that they can coordinate their moves during fighting. It is thanks to this that Lily notices that her companions are nearby; the first thought that flashes across her mind is that they are here to rescue her, however she soon realizes that they are actually here to attack Junk Guild. This realization almost crushed her as she cannot accept the attack on Junk Guild. Despite being surprised by her feelings, she immediately tries to stop the attack. Arriving at the hangar, she notes that Gold Frame Amatsu has similar equipment as her Nebula Blitz and does not think much about the differences in control. As her aim is to convince her companions to stop their attack and not fight them, basic movements should be sufficient. After launching, she quickly masters the controls but sadly, her companions do not heed her advice and aims their weapons at her.

Looking at the display, Lowe whispers that the situation is bad. A worried Yoon wonders what they should do, but she does not sound at all troubled. On the other hand, Kisato is so worried that she cannot say anything. Lowe says that the only solution is to send out reinforcement and by that, he means that he should launch in his Red Frame Kai. However, Elijah misinterprets that sentence as referring to him and he declares that he will launch immediately. As he is the only professional pilot within in the facility, it is only natural that he thought that Lowe is referring to him. Lowe tries to stop him but Elijah interrupts and asks if Vent Saviour’s customization is complete. When he hears that it is done, he replies that there is no problem and walks toward the hangar. For Elijah, this is also a good opportunity to test the new MS that he received from Gud.

Despite facing 4 enemy units, Gold Frame Amatsu successfully evades all their attacks and remains undamaged. This is due to its high basic performance as well as Lowe’s maintenance skill. Lily has never controlled a MS so smoothly before and is enjoying it in spite of the precarious situation she is in. When she was with Librarian Works, none of the Nebula Blitz was customized for her use and she used a different unit every time she launches. Lily wonders if this feeling she has now is inherited from the ‘real’ Lily. Suddenly, the 4 Nebula Blitz stops attacking and deploys their energy absorption claw. In response, Lily also activates Amatsu’s energy absorption claw but she knows that it is only a matter of time before she is defeated. She abandons convincing her companions and starts to think of how she can drag a Nebula Blitz down with her. As she is about to execute her plan, Vent Saviour appears and transform into MS mode as it stops next to Amatsu. Lily notices the energy absorption claw on its back and asks Elijah to deploy it. Elijah realizes what her plan is and did as told. The space around them is soon filled with energy that is discharged by the energy absorption claws. Faced with such unfamiliar situation, Elijah panics slightly and comments that it is too chaotic. Lily remains calm and after careful analysis finds a way to improve their chance of winning. She tells Elijah to target the Nebula Blitz on the right and although he is puzzled at first, he soon understands her intention. They turn towards that particular Nebula Blitz and quickly drain it of its energy.

Elijah is excited by their success in changing the battle from 4 vs 2 to 3 vs 2, however Lily is unmoved as their MS are still being drained by 3 Nebula Blitz and have only little energy left. As the enemies are also Lily(s), she is aware that the same trick will not work again and that continuous usage of the energy absorption claw will not help them much. Elijah asks Lily what they should do next; he has judged that it is better to follow her instruction as she is familiar with the enemies. His experiences as a mercenary have taught him that in order to achieve victory; petty issues like saving/maintaining face should be disregarded. The enemies react first and uses Lily’s tactic on Vent Saviour. Lily knows that Vent Saviour will not last long but she is unsure what she should do. Escape while the enemies are focusing their attention on Vent Saviour seems to be the best option but since she wants to save Junk Guild, running away is meaningless. Although she wants to help Vent Saviour, she realizes that intervening will just put her back at square one.

Red Frame Kai appears as Lily is feeling discouraged. Lowe remarks that Vent Saviour is out of energy and Elijah did not reply as there is not enough power left. Vent Saviour’s life support system may fail if the situation worsens. The fight is once again 3 vs 2 and despite the loss of Vent Saviour’s energy absorption claw, based on her past experience, Lily is sure that Lowe can somehow turn the situation around. Aware of Red Frame Kai’s powerful range attack, the enemies cautiously aim their energy absorption claws. Lily tries to warn Lowe but he confidently tells her that it is not a problem. On Red Frame Kai’s back, Tactical Arms II changes from delta form to a slightly open configuration. The next moment, a massive amount of energy is discharged into space and the 3 Nebula Blitz are all drained of their energy. Lily wonders if it is caused by an energy absorption claw and Lowe replies that just like what he said before, Red Frame Kai has everything and that includes a high output version of the energy absorption claw that he developed. As she listens to Lowe, Lily imagines that he is smiling happily and says to herself that she has already expected things to be like this. Coincidentally, Lowe also says the same thing immediately after.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's the 2nd to last chapter. One of the drawings in this chapter also hints that carbon human Prayer may know Matias.

Chapt 13

ND HE is shocked that Gina is easily defeated by Gai. He feels that Gai is on a totally different level and that he will never be as strong as him no matter how hard he tries. He has now abandoned his plan to defeat Canard and then become the ‘real’ Gai by challenging Gai. Canard senses that HE is giving up and asks him about it. HE replies that continuing the fight is meaningless. Canard smiles and comments that HE is similar to Gai in that aspect, he then questions if it is alright for him to give up as he is planning on killing his leader. No one can stop Canard from trying to achieve his goal and he asked such a meaningless question because he wants to know what is HE’s impression of Prayer. HE’s reply is that the Supreme Librarian is invincible. Canard has already expected this and although HE is a younger Gai, he still trusts his assessment of people. The Prayer that Canard knows is strong but not what one would label as invincible, Canard is thus certain that Librarian Works’ Prayer is not the Prayer that he knows. He then asks HE to bring him to Prayer’s current location.

Despite his willingness to compromise, HE still hesitates a bit before agreeing to the request. He knows that even if he refuses, it is only a matter of time before Canard locates Prayer. Afterall, Canard is someone who is willing to kill every person in an organization in order to accomplish his goal. Gai then states that he wants to tag along as well. His motive for meeting Prayer is simple; he just wants the attacks against him to stop. In order to achieve this, he will most likely kill Prayer as mercenary is rather heartless when it comes to survival. Enduring the humiliation, HE agrees. He knows that he does not have the power to stop Canard and Gai. The most logical action now is to cooperate and HE feels that leading them to Prayer is okay as they cannot defeat him. Despite this, HE is still upset and Gai understands that feeling well, it is the accumulation of such experiences that make him as strong as he is now.

HE points out the asteroid that Librarian Works’ base is in, the area they are at is far away from any commonly used space route and is difficult to locate. Canard discovers that they are not the only visitor; HE notes that it is a MS and gets Gale Strike into a fighting pose as it does not have Librarian Works’ identification signal. Gai stops him immediately, comments that he is very well trained and adds that he has expected the other visitor. As they got closer, HE realizes that the MS is Red Frame Kai. He is shocked as he did not expect Lowe, a non-professional MS pilot, to defeat 4 Nebula Blitz. Although HE knows that Lowe has encountered many dangerous situations before, he is still amazed that the latter manages to survive the latest attempt to kill him. Lowe broadcasts on the public channel and notes Gai’s and Canard’s presence. He then cheerful asks Canard about the condition of Dreadnought H. HE is bewildered by Lowe’s behavior as he seems to be oblivious to the fact that he is in front of an enemy base. He also does not seem to be bothered that HE is in front of him. HE compliments Lowe for being able to get to the base and questions what happen to the Lily(s). Lowe unexpectedly reveals that Kisato and Yoon are taking care of them. He further adds that they are dressing up the Lily(s) according to their character and are discussing other related stuff. HE does not want to know this, so he asks again and loses his cool when Lowe misinterprets his question. If this is some kind of psychological battle, HE has already lost. Canard then explains to Lowe that HE is asking how he manages to defeat the Lily(s). Lowe simply replies that Red Frame Kai is a product of all the MS technology he knows and that it can handle all kinds of enemy. The energy absorption claw he used on the 3 Nebula Blitz is at least 10X stronger than usual and the Lily that he saved earlier had managed to convince her companions to stop fighting.

As Lowe is also here to see Prayer, HE tells him to tag along and he readily accepts the offer. Not surprisingly, the base goes into chaos when the base controller informs the others that HE is bringing in outsider. After waiting for a while the party receive permission to enter the base, HE remarks to himself that this is most likely Prayer’s order. Lowe overheard it and says that it is because they are all old acquaintances. Although Carbon Human Prayer has memories of the time they spent together but it is just that, he does not have any first-hand experience. Lowe then notices something weird; Lily had told him that Prayer’s appearance is that of a teenager and that does not seem to match what he knows about Carbon Human. He wonders why Carbon Human Prayer is not a kid like when the ‘real’ Prayer died. Canard then comments softly to himself that the Prayer he is meeting is an older Prayer. As expected, they have to leave their MS after entering the base and are subjected to body search to remove objects perceived as dangerous. As Lowe has a lot of tools with him and even some that he had forgotten, his body search took a long time. He apologies and asks the party to go ahead without him. After walking through an unpleasant passage way, Gai and co arrives at a luxuriously decorated area. They enter the room where Prayer receives his guests and seated on a classy, richly decorated chair is Prayer. He greets the party of three with a smile.

Canard questions if Prayer has foreseen his arrival and the latter replies that he has expected him, Lowe and Gai to be here. He confidently explains that by sending people to attack the later 2, they will locate him sooner or later. As for Canard, Prayer says that he does not have to do anything and the former will try to locate him after simply hearing his name. Canard admits that Prayer is correct and asks if he know why he is here. His murderous intention is so strong that a timid person may suddenly suffer from a heart attack. Prayer correctly states that Canard is here to kill him; he then says that he does not plan on dying so easily and suggests having a MS battle. The smile and gentle expression on his face does not match with what he just said. He informs them that he had already recharged their MS’s battery and seeks their understanding. He also adds that nothing undesirable is done to their MS. Canard replies that he trust him as Prayer is not someone who would resort to underhand tactics. Prayer is touched by Canard’s trust in him and is at a loss for words for a while before expressing his thanks. On his face is the shyness that is usually seen on the ‘real’ Prayer’s face.

Lowe has just finished his body search and is on his way to Prayer’s room when a voice stops him. He turns around and discovers that it belongs to Un’no. In a low voice, the Carbon Human tells Lowe that he has a secret to share with him and Lowe gets even more excited.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Finally, the last chapter and this will also mark the end of updating this thread.

Chapt 14

Blue Frame 2nd R, Red Frame Kai, Dreadnought H and Prayer’s Nix Providence gather in an area near the Librarian Works’s base. Prayer has ordered HE to stay behind and he obeys. Gai breaks the tense atmosphere and wonders if Librarian Works’s goal is to mass produce the strongest pilot. Prayer is amazed that Gai figures it out and praises him for being astute. Intelligence gathering is Librarian Works’s fundamental operation and its purpose is to obtain the genes, memories and other related data of excellent pilots so that they can be revived as Carbon Human. Although creating a Carbon Human takes several years, it is still faster them grooming an excellent pilot from birth and mass production is easy once all the required data is obtained. Lowe finally understands why ND HE wants him to hand over everything he has during their first encounter and thinks that Carbon Humans of himself will be very useful during busy periods. He also finds it interesting if ND HE and Gai work together.

Canard interrupts and says that Prayer’s aim is different from that of Librarian Works’s. He is basing this on his strong friendship with Prayer and adds that if Carbon Human Prayer is like the ‘real’ Prayer, then he will definitely not assist in the creation of such pilots. Therefore, he is most likely sabotaging the program while acting like he is carrying it out. Prayer knows that Canard will surely understand his intention and describes the creation of excellent pilots through the Carbon Human technique as unforgivable. He tells them that the program is still in testing phase and can be stopped if the pilots created are shown to be not as useful as they appear to be. Canard asks if that is why he is fighting them, Prayer confirms it and adds that defeating him is the only way to stop the program. Canard replies that it is as he guessed and for the first time, his voice is trembling due to grief. He quickly shakes off the feeling and says forcefully that he will go all out to defeat the Supreme Librarian. Prayer comments that he has been waiting for that sentence.

The battle starts and Nix Providence launches all its DRAGOONs. Gai and Lowe evade the attacks while Canard fires Dreadnought H’s beam cannons in response. Prayer praises them for avoiding his attacks with the slightest movements, then taunts them by saying that he is still free to move and asks if anyone can attack him. Canard reacts first and fires his beam cannons at Nix Providence; he is not provoked by Prayer’s words, instead he did that as he wants to help fulfill Prayer’s wish. Prayer places DRAGOON(s) in the line of fire and sacrifices it in order to block the attack. At the same time, he attacks the undefended Dreadnought H with other DRAGOONs. Canard disregards these attacks and continues to shoot at Nix Providence. Prayer tries to dodge all the attacks aim at him and for those that he cannot, he simply sacrifices his DRAGOONs in order to block them. Although both parties did not suffer any critical damages, it is becoming obvious that Prayer is at a disadvantage. DRAGOONs preparing to attack Dreadnought H are destroyed by Blue Frame 2nd R, Canard and Gai did not discuss this beforehand; it is just a natural cooperation between parties that are trying to survive. Lowe seems to be uninterested in fighting and just keep dodging attacks that come his way. Gai and Canard finally forces Prayer into a corner and the last DRAGOON is destroyed by Blue Frame 2nd R. Nix Providence stops moving as the battle has ended; Prayer did his best and his defeat proves that creating Carbon Human is pointless.

Urging himself on, Canard yells that this is Prayer’s end. He fires the beam cannons at Nix Providence but Lowe blocks it with his katanas. Surprisingly, it is Prayer who immediately asks Lowe why he did that. Lowe’s response is that killing him is meaningless and that there are other ways out. Defeating Carbon Humans will indeed reduce their worth but for those trying to create the strongest pilot, it only means that they need to create the Carbon Human clones of the victor(s). This cycle will go on and on, and thus killing Prayer accomplishes nothing. Lowe’s thinks the solution to this problem is to show that Carbon Humans cannot be commandeered as one wish. A pilot that disobeys commands is worthless no matter how strong he is. Prayer did considered this option, but still chooses death as the creators of Carbon Human will just try to create clones that are more obedient. There are limits to strengthening but domination does not have any. It is for this reason that Prayer did not betray the organization. Lowe asks if Prayer is worried about the data used to create Carbon Humans and says that destroying them will solve the matter. Prayer reveals that the data is managed by different bases around the world and Lowe simply points out that they have comrades all around the world as well.

Lowe then suggests destroying the asteroid base and asks Prayer for the location of the data center. Prayer agrees and regrets that he cannot do it personally as he does not have any DRAGOONs left. Lowe replies that he has one and removes the Tactical Arms IIL from Red Frame Kai’s back. Although he cannot use it, Lowe still installs it as he wants to incorporate every possible function into the weapon. After the synchronization is completed, Prayer destroys the base with Tactical Arms IIL. Afterwards, Lowe says that a martian he knows has contacted him and that the Carbon Humans can migrate there if they wish. Lowe has been secretly planning this and adds that a certain journalist wants to know more about the incident. He then mentions that as Prayer’s life may be ending soon, he should try to live it to the fullest. Lowe had heard about this from Un’no; Carbon Human Prayer has inherited the defective telomeres and it manifest as rapid ageing. As Prayer gives his thanks, Gina appears with the forbidden Mirage Frame 3rd Issue. Lowe sighs and remarks that a troublesome fellow has pop up. Gai calmly replies that he will handle him. Gina is a good example of a Carbon Human that will not follow orders. People that are astray from the true path will not deny the existence of others. In preparation for the fight, Blue Frame 2nd R slowly raises its sword.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Given how terrible the model kit line was, I'm surprised how consistent and enjoyable this story is. The misuse of genetic engineering was one of my favourite elements of SEED and the idea someone would say 'With constant war, why not just clone the superior aces?' makes alot of sense for the setting.

Speaking of I already knew ND HE was a Gai clone but part of me wishes the theories of him being a clone of Kira would be true. The idea of there being a second 'evil' Kira out there divorced from his moral compass or the need to beat the original would actually make for an interesting antagonist.

More translations by E08 for Destiny Astray photonovel
Didnt realise that i skipped chapter 15 & 16. Not too much important stuff in there.

Chapter 15 reveals that Jess's suggestion to Kaite to fight like Edward when using Sword Out Frame D originates from a talk with Lowe.

Chapter 16 have Jess and Kaite taking a break before Divine Testament attacks again. Setona is confident that eating during the break will not cause any problem during the battle as someone called Prayer had told her the battle would not occur that soon. Yoon then recalls that Prayer had earlier pointed out to her that she had connected the energy pipe of the Sword Out Frame D wrongly. Then an hour later, the battle with Divine Testament begin. After the battle, Jess wants to know if the recovered Divine Testament contains any new information, while Kaite is considering adding the suit to his collection. Kaite also tried to ask for the METEOR but Gai tells him to talk with Junk Guild instead.

The special chapter is basically about Jess's encounter with Mina during Cagalli's wedding and about Mina's encounter with Ergnes while in Orb from Jess's point of view. The interesting point is that Mina points out that the big 5 family in Orb wil change with time. The Seiran family is below the big 5 during Gundam Seed, but become one of the big 5 after the chaos during that period. Mina also says that Seiran's way of doing things is similar to the Sahaku's.

So does that mean they displaced another family? But then why would Attha consider an arranged marriage to them if they're inferior in station?

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Based on the fact that the big 5 family can change, it does seem that the Seiran displaced one of the family during the aftermath of the battle at Orb. As for the marriage, the explanation that Mina gave is that it may be due to the machination of the Seirans (hence, why she says that their way of doing things is similar to the Sahaku's). In fact, Mina herself has some doubts if the rumor about the marriage been an arranged one is completely true.

It also makes me wonder why it was still allowed if her father was dead. I mean if she took the reigns of the family, she could have easily said no...

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Bumping this thread with a translation of Seed MSV Senki Special C.E.73, a short photo story published in the December 2006 issue of Hobby Japan in conjunction with the release of the MG Strike Gundam IWSP.

Using his Strike IWSP, Sven Cal Bayang breaks into a ZAFT industrial colony. Although this colony does not appear to be used for military purposes, Phantom Pain’s intelligence indicated that it contains many nuclear powered MS in violation of the Junius Treaty. Sven’s mission is to capture one of these MS, the ‘ZGMF-X999A ZAKU Mass Production Trial Type’. This MS seems to be developed before the signing of the Junius Treaty and as such, if it is not in active status, it cannot be used as evidence that ZAFT violated the treaty. Sven questioned his commander about this earlier and the reply he got was that his job is just to capture the MS, someone else will decide what to do with it later.

Once Sven enters the interior of the colony, he finds the place in total chaos due to the attack by Mudie’s and Shams’s MS. Sven did not encounter much resistance as he travels to his destination. He however found that the control of his MS in space and low gravity regions could be better. The IWSP pack with its numerous protrusions make finding the center of gravity difficult and also cause problems for AMBAC control. Sven thinks that this problem can be solved with rocket anchor(s) and notes this down mentally as his suggestions will be taken into account during the modification of his MS, which is happening soon. When he reached the target hangar, Sven found about 40 gray MS that are apparently in PS down mode. His target MS is one of these but unexpectedly, ZAFT has dismantled all the units in accordance with the treaty. This also indicates that Sven’s mission is over as capturing a unit without its nuclear engine is unless. As he is about to leave, he finds his path blocked by a yellow MS.

Sven recognizes the yellow suit as the activated form of the other MS. The suit’s pilot wants Sven to identify himself and surrender, but he ignores it and charges with the anti-ship swords as such words are meaningless to Phantom Pain. As they are within melee combat range, the other pilot reacts by pulling out his suit’s tomahawk. Despite his charge, Sven did not engage in melee combat; when the weapons are within contact range, he quickly changes his suit’s direction and fires the railguns. As the enemy is expecting a melee combat, it is very difficult for him to handle this sudden change of attack by Sven. However this is just the beginning, Sven quickly follows up by charging for a melee attack, for real this time. As he swings down the swords, he is surprised that the enemy dodges the attack at the last minute. At this point, Sven has no idea who he is fighting with. If he did, he would likely have altered his fighting style.

Sven’s opponent is Courtney Heironimus, a mysterious ace pilot even within ZAFT. Courtney fires the ZAKU’s railguns in retaliation, but Sven evades the shot at the last moment. An intense battle then erupts. The fight ends abruptly when the ZAKU phase-shifted down. Although the suit is in active status, its nuclear engine has been removed long ago and thus it cannot remain active for long period of time. Sven then launches a lethal attack at the immobile ZAKU; Phantom Pain does not follow the any code of honor, sparing a strong opponent’s life is meaningless to them, and since the enemy is a Coordinator, there is also no need for sympathy. Sven then left the colony with his teammates and although the mission ended in failure, it is still a mission completed and Sven has a sense of accomplishment.

Within the colony, Courtney walks away from the remains of his suit. Despite the defeat and loss of his MS, Courtney remains cheerful. He had launched the attack as he did not want the enemy to discover a certain item – the core system/component of the Neutron Stampeder. To counter another nuclear attack by EA, a new weapon system utilizing N-Jammer Canceller technology is being developed in this colony. However, the rare mineral required in the N-Jammer Canceller has its supply monopolized by the Atlantic Federation and as a result, the resource poor PLANT turns to the ZAKUs for the required material. Courtney remarks that if they lost the weapon, there is a likelihood that history will be altered. Nobody knows what will happen in the future, even so Courtney chooses to put his trust in the machines he help developed. He believes that the weapon created from these 40+ ZAKUs’ souls will save PLANT’s future.

What MS's were Shams and Mudie using at this point? It's highly likely that they were respectively using the vanilla Buster and Duel by analogy with Sven but they might also use the Dagger versions.
