Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

It is nice to see I'm not alone mostly in my enthusiasm :) I have heard the "dead time" criticism before during season one. While I agree this is not a fast paced series I also didn't find that as a problem. I find it refreshing that this series is paced differently from how we'd expect fr...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk III

So unless IBO really flubs the ending this show is hands down my favorite Gundam series in a while. Certainly since 00 finished up. They did feel like they were pulling their punches at the end of the first season a bit, but that's all totally changed now. It kinda feels like anyone can go before th...

Giga-Robo!

I don't know how many of you guys are also board game fans. Myself I'm a board game fanatic. So I was super excited to see something like Giga-Robo! on Kickstarter currently. There have been mecha games before, but they've mostly been in the style of a real robot game like Battletech. I'm a Battlete...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

There was a point in this season where I had totally expected the second season to be from a different perspective and the Tekkies would be the villains of the arc. Orga and Mika's dialogues where becoming so cut throat and blood thirsty. If there was actually more fatalities from ep 24 then I could...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

I was not expecting all that in this ep. Named and unnamed body count in this episode is ridiculously high. Eugene and the Brewers coming to the rescue on the bridge was probably the highlight of the episode for me. That was such a great moment. Eugene is awesome. Ein continues to be one of the most...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

This episode sold me a Rebake model kit I think. That was pretty awesome. I'm sad about Biscuit, but they were foreshadowing that hard.

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

It does feel like the story is on pace for a 50 episode show. If we don't get that length the resolution will be disappointing probably. I will admit that much. That said I reaffirm that I'm having fun with this show. I'm super bummed to hear it's unpopular because I'd love for this setting to be ex...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

That was a great episode. With more suits now for Tekkadan to pilot, Earth in sight and a revolution starting in the Dort colonies I really wasn't expecting so much movement out of one episode. I got a pit in my stomach for Biscuit and his brother. Brother reunions appear to be ill fated in this ser...

Re: The Official Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans Anime Thread Mk

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions but I don't think Balofo is watching the same show as me somehow. The pacing has been great so far, and it's done a good job with the character work. If it went any faster it would feel rushed and if they crammed in needless arcs and battles in there the s...

Re: Ep. 172 - The War Boys of Gundam

Great episode guys. I'm really liking IBO. So far it's the best Gundam I've seen in a long time. I hope it can keep this level of quality up for the remainder of the season. How long is IBO suppose to be anyway? 25 episodes? I've seen criticisms that state that the pacing is too slow and there shoul...

Re: Comic Books (other than manga)

To chime in on my comments above from two years ago Marvel Cosmic did turn out the way I feared. All hand waving and no dot connecting. They basically just twisted it to line up with the depiction in the GotG movie. I liked the movie, but as a long time fan I was turned off by their trashing of the ...

+1 for Shin Mazinger. You guys haven't done any Mazinger and Shin Mazinger is short, self contained and lots of fun. It would certainly test the waters for future Mazinger series reviews.

Re: Zeta Gundam: Why is it so great?

Zeta is a product of it's time. The issues people have with the show were omnipresent in the anime of the time (including the original Gundam). You've got to forgive all that and grade on a curve when comparing shows across generations. The skeleton of Gundam and Zeta Gundam formed the basis for man...

Re: The Official Gundam Reconguista Anime Thread Mk III

In any event this still sucks. I wish they could have handled it with a bit more grace. It's stuff like this that causes Gundam fandom to lose it's steam. They were making such good moves the US with Origin, Turn A, Build Fighters and streaming access for many of their shows.

Re: Ep. 162 - Great Tournament, Great Experience

I was a fan of Try. It wasn't a perfect series, but it was still entertaining. It gave us tons of fun suit designs (much to Chris' dismay). I like how they presented the world this time around. It felt almost like Pokémon in the way the signature games has become so pervasive in their culture. I als...

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

I'm just happy that most of the plot threads that I really struggled with were all wrapped by the finale's conclusion. The two SHIELD conflict, the May/Coulsen conflict, the Raina stuff, the Jiaying stuff, the Fitz Simmons feud, the Mac acting like a puss stuff... There was a lot of good stuff this ...

Re: Ep. 090: Avengers: Age of Ultron

I liked the movie over all, but I do have issues. I think I already said my fill in the other forum about this movie, but I'll just stress. 1.) Yeah Natasha and Bruce don't feel like the same characters in this movie. I don't mind them having a romance, but it wasn't pulled off too well. Also Natash...

Re: Avengers: Age of Ultron

Yeah I remember reading that Whedon said something to the effect of it's harder than anything else he's ever done or something like that. I can only imagine the pressures put on him by the studios and fans. I wonder if they'll ever release a longer cut. I hear there was another half an hour of chara...

Re: Avengers: Age of Ultron

I agree on both counts. It's okay for a character to regress, but in Banner's case it feels like a pretty dramatic change in tone. Maybe it's because Natasha's advances are making him lose his calm center, but I don't think that was given enough time to work well. As presented it does feel abrupt c...
