Re: Twin Peaks Coming back

The show went south after it got super popular because of politics on set between the actors and between the studio and the creative team. All that crap really compromised the story they wanted to tell. That's what drove Frost and Lynch away from what I understand. When Lynch left the show it lost h...

Re: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

It's been really good so far.
Spoiler
I'd like to know if they are doing anything else with Hartley. Her story ended a bit abruptly for such a high profile cameo.

Twin Peaks Coming back

This might be of interest to Chaos Theatre listeners since Pedro was brought up watching the show a couple episodes back. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.com/2014/10/06/showtime-to-air-new-twin-peaks-episodes-in-2016/ A 25 year timeskip picking up where the show left off is interesting to me. From...

Re: Ep. 079: Grant Morrison's Batman saga

Grant is not the type of dude to slow down for you. So yeah you kind of just have to accept there are going to be things in his stories you just won't get on the first reading. Maybe when you come back and reread it you might pick up more details, you pick up things through the lens of future knowle...

Re: Ep. 150 - Ask Gundamn!

The Walking Dead comic is in a rut? It's consistently kept me on my toes. That "On The Road" segment of the story has been over for years. Starting with the "All Out War" storyline it's been moving in a different direction. Now in the current storyline it's something new again. I...

Re: Ep. 078: The Lord of the Rings

Fellowship was always my favorite of the books. It's smaller more character driven scope was a joy to kind of live in for a while. It was more of an adventure story than the other two books in the trilogy. The other two are more about politics and grand battles. The first one was about just a bunch ...

Re: Chaos Theater Mailbag Drop Box

So it sounds like you guys are both Grant Morrisson fans. Have either of you read Grant Morrison's The Doom Patrol run? It's one of my favorites. His take on Cliff Steele and his invention of the character of Mr. Nobody being two of my personal highlights. Same question for The Invisibles. It has si...

Re: Ep. 077: Indiana Jones

I liked Doom. It's not anywhere near Raiders and Crusade, but it's miles above Crystal Skull. I'm alright with Short Round. When I was a kid I'd jump at the opportunity go on adventures with Indy. So he's understandable as a window character for your audience. Yeah the Willie scenes are all hard to ...

They've also been inconsistent in their responses (like on twitter) about which stone is what. I think everytime a stone is confirmed someone on the staff will say it is the power stone. They said this stone was power for GOTG. I was almost positive it was the soul gem. I give up trying to track thi...

Re: Ep. 076: Guardians of the Galaxy

I liked it, but I thought it was odd. Does that mean they will make a Howard movie now? It doesn't sound like it from interviews. Also I'm not sure how to feel about it considering the history of litigation between Steve Gerber and Marvel over the character. I kind of wished Cosmo would have talked ...

Re: Ep. 076: Guardians of the Galaxy

I forgot. There was some questions about race. Yondu is a Centauri not a Kree so he's a different alien race altogether. Though Gunn is really only taking the name and character appearance. Yondu was completely rewritten to fit Rooker's pirate character. Yondu was one of the original Guardians befor...

Re: Ep. 076: Guardians of the Galaxy

The previous Guardians Of The Galaxy Run from 2008, which took place post the Annihilation event is one of my favorite comic book runs. That is the basis of this movie. It was written by Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning and they really took this group of throw away characters and turned them into gold in...

Re: Guardians Of The Galaxy

Don't get me started on the new comic run. He spends too much time with Star Lord and his father (A storyline I hate. Star Lord becomes such a bad character every time J'Son comes around). The only other person who gets any attention is Gamora (and now Angela), and that's so he can give the artist s...

Guardians Of The Galaxy

So I've made it no secret that I'm a Marvel Cosmic fan on this board. So speaking as a fan I loved this movie. Yeah they changed stuff around to make it make more sense in the context of a 2 hour movie, but none of it was offensive, and it was really fun. I'm holding out hope they make a Nova movie....

Re: Ep. 074: X-Men movies

Well coming from the opposite direction as someone who knew Blade from the comics first I never would have dreamed that Blade would be the basis for a Hollywood movie. Tomb of Dracula was a cool book, but not really the strongest Marvel property. If I may make an offering up to the Otter of Offering...

Re: Ep. 074: X-Men movies

I appreciated the debate in the middle about which was worse X3 or Wolverine Origins. I agree while X3 is awful it did have some flickering moments of fun. Kelsey Grammer Beast, Ellen Page Kitty ... Wolverine Origins just sucked. I can never make it through the whole movie. I give you credit for not...

Re: Ep. 073: True Detective

Call Of Cthulhu is a fun setting. That's the RPG with which I'm most familiar. Yeah it tends to be more pulp adventure themed, and incorporates many post Lovecraft author's works. The original Lovecraft stories usually all had the same narrative flow: - Guy notices something strange. - Guy investiga...

Re: Ep. 073: True Detective

True Detective is an excellent series. I highly recommend it as well. I agree that the Southern setting for a detective serial was very refreshing. I wish they would have dipped further down into Weird Fiction though that's just a personnal preference. It's possible as the show goes on they might de...
