This. Very much this. Pretty much every AU has some potential for more stories, be it sequels or spin-offs. And since you brought up the Post Disaster timeline, I can't help but wish for either a prequel detailing the Calamity War or a sequel showing what the world has evolved into.

Yeah. For one, they planned an even darker ending, but changed it due to fan outcry. And I find it ironic that what we got was already pretty much a happy end despite the POV characters losing.

Looking at it, I believe they are going to deviate from the source material just enough to give it a proper ending. Even if not, I'm quite hyped up for it, if only to see the titular mecha in action.
