Round 1, Fight 1: Neo America vs. Neo Philippines

THIRD GUNDAM FIGHT
ROUND 1, FIGHT 1
NEO AMERICA vs. NEO PHILIPPINES

- New York City -
- Madison Square Neo-Garden -

December 1st, FC 16

Evening approached as the last spectators filed into the massive Madison Square Neo-Garden. The enormous structure had been built specifically for mobile fighter competitions, so it was perfect for holding a match in the Gundam Fight finals.

The officials had deliberately selected this venue for the inaugural match due to New York City's prominence (which it retained even after the pre-FC wars and the dilapidation encroaching the terrestrial lands since the colonies took over) as well as the fact that Neo America's own representative would be fighting.

The arena was set up not unlike that seen for a boxing match, except on a much, much larger scale. The ring was in the center, and was separated out by a force field, a kilometer and a half square, powered by a massive independent generator underground. Spectators, protected by the force field, sat around it in countless rows of seats.

The announcer took the stage. "Welcome, everyone!" he greeted enthusiastically, "Tonight, you will witness the inaugural match of the 3rd Gundam Fight!"

Cheers went up from all around. Once it had begun to die down, the announcer continued, "The contenders in this first fight will be...

"Neo America, represented by James Ranger in the Cowboy Gundam!"

Cheers went up. Americans, particularly New Yorkers, made up the majority of those in the stands, as it was easy for them to get to the arena. Patriotism had gone through the roof since the last competition. They were hoping James would be successful in repeating the now-famous Phia Philadel's success in the last Gundam Fight.

"And Neo Philippines, represented by Alvin Cruz in the Jeepney Gundam!"

Cheers again, this time from the Filipinos in the crowd. Though less in number, they made up for it in enthusiasm. It was Neo Philippines' first Gundam Fight, and even the most optimistic of its countrymen had doubted Al Cruz would make it past the elimination phase. In spite of this, he'd made it, and this unexpected success had inspired a flurry of celebration across the country. Man saved as much money as they could to make the trip to Neo America in hopes of witnessing the new national hero compete in these all-important fights, and hope against hope he'll come out on top.

The announcer left the stage as the entire stadium was rocked with applause.

OOC: Alright, the two fighters may RP their entry, and when both are ready, Wingnut, the referee, can declare it ready and go

It was a busy day in New York, as the first match is already about to begin in a short while. Al is just sitting on the floor of his mobile trace system rather lazily, reading the Bible. He is just waiting to be called in outside.

"Well, aren't you confident!" Patrick exclaimed. In truth, not everything is going well for the Neo-Philippines crew. The beam emitters on ther Eskrima maces haven't been working properly; but that can't be left alone. It had a tendency of blowing up, and might cause self-damage. Al had suggested to use them as grenades, but it may not explode, practically giving the opponent their weapon. On top of that, they were to debut against a former championship team, in their turf.

"Any word on when they can deliver the new eskrima maces?" enters Hannah, who also worries that their debut might be an embarrassment.

"It could arrive at our second match, but no later than the fourth match, at least that's what I've been told," Patrick says, "Let's just trust that Al can put a good show with the flails."

"Hey Al, do you want the pistol?" Hannah screams to Al. Al just leaves out a simple "yup." The crew then installed the pistol, and put 2 clips with it, good enough for 40 shots. The crew, including Patrick and Hannah, doubts that Al will use it anyway, unless for distractions.

Good luck, Al.

With that, the Jeepney Gundam exits the garage, and enters the ring... to the massive cheers of the crowd. New York has a significant amount of Neo-Filipinos, only second to San Francisco. This is a statement to the solar system; The Neo-Philippines will no longer be held under unstable governments. The fans have full support for Al, and this made Al smile... a bit.

“Alright James, listen up.” Jo points to a projector screen with the red dot of her laser pointer. On the screen is another mobile fighter, the Jeepney Gundam. “This is the GF-00XNPH Jeepney Gundam,” as if he doesn’t know it and the heading doesn’t give it away, “this will be your first opponent. In this, we are lucky. The Jeepney is made for primarily hand-to-hand combat. This is made clear by the pair of beam emitting maces and the beam flail. Now, the Jeepney also carries a pistol, but its mainly for show. There are instances where the pilot, Alvin Cruz, actually has used it, but for the most part, it has been during exhibition shots. He can pull off some trick shots, sure, but I wouldn’t bet on it during a fight. Plus, he isn’t quite as good as you.” That last admission is made a bit begrudgingly, a sign of the resentment she still feels over him taking her spot as Representative. “I suggest the shot gun, let him get in close and then blow his head clean off.”

“Alight, Jo, I see your point. I think I should also take the Poncho and Lasso in as well.”

“What do you need those things for? The Poncho will only slow you down and that useless piece of string gives no practical tactical advantage!”

James chuckles a bit. “I don’t get very many opportunities to use that ‘piece of string,’ sure, but I think the ability to immobilize the other guy is more than worth it. His Gundam is waaay too weak to stand a change of breaking the line, so I say go for it. Besides, the Poncho won’t slow me down that much, and the added protection, especially if he tries to pull his gun on me is well worth it.”

Jo is about to continue, but decides it is not worth the effort. He’s more stubborn than a mule, but he knows his stuff. Of course, if he’d listen to his tac officer once-in-a-while, that’d be nice, too.

---

The Neo-American Anthem bares over the speakers, echoing in the massive stadium. The announcer comes on.

“Ladies and Gentleman! May I present to you Neo-America’s Representative for the 3rd Gundam Fight: James Ranger in his Cowboy Gundam!”

The Cowboy Gundam steps into the Madison Square Neo-Garden’s open arena floor, just outside of the ring and waves to the cheering crowds, New Yorkers and other Neo-Americans cheering loudly. From inside his cockpit, he makes an announcement.

“I have come here today, to the wonderful city of New York to fight for Neo-America’s right to rule over all of Earth and Space for 4 more years! It has been a hard road, these past 11 months, with a lot of battles fought and a lot of blood, sweat, and tears shed. And it hasn’t been in vain! I will defeat the Jeepney, and anyone else I have to in order to claim the title ‘Gundam of Gundams’ and insure Neo-American’s right to rule!”

Slowly, the chanting starts, and at first only in the North corner, near him, but it gradually picks up more speed as it spreads around the stadium. Soon, the sound of the chanting is deafening, but is infuses James with strength as the crowd continues to chant in one, united voice:

“FOUR MORE YEARS!!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!! FOUR MORE YEARS!!!”

James steps into the ring and the barrier closes in behind him. Quietly, where only he and his team can hear, he mutters “Let’s roll!”

With a quick pump, he chambers a round into the massive 8 G Gauge shotgun.

“GUNDAM FIIIIGHT!!! READY!!!”

James lights off his thrusters, closing the distance…

((OOC: Just say “GO!!!” and it’s on!))

It was finally time to begin. The third Gundam Fight finals. For this finals the discision had been made to have referee mecha observe each fight. While it may seem odd, it seemed logical enough to the Neo Americans so they had the idea implemented. Being chosen from all corners of the globe was done as a safety feature to prevent bias towards any fighter.
For Johnathan Chapman of Neo-England it was an interesting change from his usual football match that he was used to refereeing. However it was one he looked forward to. It was also a source of pride that he was the one to start the finals off in the first match of the Round Robin tournament that had been chosen as the format for the finals.
With that he said:
"Gundam Fight all set! Ready. GO!!!"

"Gundam Fight all set! Ready. GO!!!"

Al did a customary bow (as he is used to it, being in martial arts programs and all), then got ready. facing the number one favorite of the entire fight as a debut might not be all too bad, considering the new system.

"Be careful, if you think our Jeepney is fast, that one is "god-like" in terms of speed! The fact that you aren't even carrying your maces just suggests that you have to be extra cautious. Remember, defend and counter-attack," Hannah warned.

With that, Al just nodded to the screen. Does this guy ever talk?

"All right, let's see this Neo-American in action!" Al commented quietly. Beam flail in hand, he swung it into the air once with some force, then sent a small but low-profile wave of beam energy into the Cowboy's direction, which bursted into speed after the referee gave the go signal.

The sensors aboard the Cowboy indicate an incoming low energy attack.

“What a joke…”

A linear moving attack like that is next to useless against the speed and reflexes of the Cowboy, especially at this range and with no follow up. It is all a matter of side-stepping out of the path and letting it pass by without concern.

But this is the most annoying part, right now. Closing the distance while holding his fire. The shotgun is really only good close up. Now, if he had the saddle rifle, he’d be picking the Jeepney off right now, before the Neo-Filipino had a chance to engage, but where’s the sport in that?

Now!

The Jeepney enters the minimal effective range of the shotgun. Leveling the weapon at the Jeepney, James wonders what is wrong with the pilot. He might have launched the first attack, but he’s just standing there. Doesn’t he know the Cowboy has the ranged advantage? Oh well. The shotty has a larger scatter at longer ranges, meaning it is harder to dodge, if less concentrated and weaker. Inside the Trace System, James shoulders the holographic representation of the shotgun, and the Cowboy Gundam faithfully mimics his every move.

“That’s right, stand right where you are.”

He squeeze off a round, the recoil shoving hard against his shoulder and the barrel lifting a bit as the shot is sent force in a conical pattern. Surely, it won’t be a fatal hit, but it won’t be something one can just shrug off, not if he catches it full force like it looks like if he won’t move.

The Jeepney Gundam seems like it's waiting for the Cowboy to blast him into pieces! Not exactly what Patrick and Hannah want to see. "What are you doing, man?!? It's a freakin shotgun!" Al's expressions remains unchanged.

Until, of course the shotgun went boom.

As if on cue, Jeepney suddenly dodges the core of the blast. The Neo-Philippines team went on a quick jolt of "YES!" Until they realize that Al did not exactly come clean. His left arm caught the most of the stray shots. This surprises Al, because he was sure he had calculated the path and he should have avoided it. Hannah exclaims over the mic, "Just in case you forgot, that's a shotgun!"

"Figured that out!" Al remarks. What he forgot to calculate is that the shotgun spreads damage at its maximum range, and he actually would have avoided the shot if it was something other than that. Luckily, even though the Jeepney is lightweight, it still possesses a degree of physical toughness, so stray shots from the shotgun won't affect the Jeepney (other than confuse Al there for a bit.) Also, its speed was more suited to quick yet intense lateral movements as opposed to all-out muscle top speed.

After the evasion, as if he was dancing, he returns fire with three more beam waves with three swings, 2 of which seems to target the shotgun and the other its head.

Since the energy ways are aimed at the shotgun, it is a simple matter to dodge them, he merely lifts the gun and spins to his left and the shots miss the gun- and him- entirely, though a few feet of Poncho is saved off.

“So, you came here to fit, at all! You had me worried there for a bit.”

Jo’s face appears in a window on his display. “James, you’re going to have to get closer if you plan to do any actually damage with the shotgun, the shot is too spread out and too scattered to do any really damage against armor as thick as his. At your present range, it’s probably nothing more than bee-stings to him, if even that.”

“Ya, I kinda figured that… It least this will be fun!”

Jo merely roles her eyes and deactivates the screen. The Gundam Fight isn’t supposed to be fun, its like a miniature war, except no one actually dies.

James pumps the shotgun, sending the empty red casing with the copper bottom spinning through the air, excess smoke trailing behind.

“If I gotta get closer, I gotta get closer…”

With that, he runs to close the distance with the Jeepney and Alvin. Of course, he isn’t going to close the range to nothing, since that beam mace is not something he wants to actually see up close, so he pulls short about the length of a Football field. An American Football field, not Soccer, like what everyone else calls Football.

“Let’s see if you can dance your way out of this one.”

James brings the 8 G Gauge up to the Cowboy’s shoulder and pauses for a second, baring Alvin to make his move, then fires off the rounds in rapid succession, tacking the Neo-Filipino Gundam’s every move. Sure, at this close of a range, the cone of fire is a whole lot narrower, but it is also a lot more condensed and a lot more powerful, not that he expects the shots to hit. The Jeepney might not be able to match the Cowboy in speed, but it ain’t no slug, neither. That, and this Alvin Cruz is supposed to be some sort of ‘defensive expert.’ No, this match is just starting.

Gah, way too fast! Al thought. The Cowboy pretty much shrugs off the three beam waves without much effort. This is too different! So this is what it takes to be on the highest level! At the very least, Al was happy enough to be fighting like this, it excites him. He can't stop grinning.

"Stop that look of yours! What are you doing?" Hannah protests, who was nervous that Al might be having a bit too much fun, when Patrick interferes, saying, "calm down, it's not like he's losing on purpose." Hannah retorts, "Well, why is he r-returning w-we-weak shots o... Ergh, fine, sorry. Must calm down..." Hannah stops the verbal stuttering show and tries to relax herself. "Yep, he's doing fine, for fighting the top MS not having his favorite weapons," Patrick says.

In the battlefield, The Cowboy Gundam fires off the gun within a distance of around 90 meters, then bam! Al dodged the first one. He dodged it a bit too much, as if he was expecting the wide buckshot spread earlier. In a split second, Al realized that the last fire was, in fact, concentrated! He swings the flail and blocks the next shot. As if out of nowhere, Al uses Jeepney's full thrust, and charges toward the Cowboy Gundam! Slightly dancing left or right, he remains on a collision course with the opponent, swinging the flail for every shot fired, skilfully hitting off the concentrated fire with only the beam tips, while deflecting off some of the shot rounds back at the Cowboy Gundam. In a matter of a few shots he was right at the Cowboy's near left side, about a Gundam's length, ready to launch a counteroffensive with the flail.

"I can't believe it," Patrick points out. "Seems like the Cowboy Gundam picked the wrong strategy on Jeepney Gundam this time. Shots like that is what the Jeepney eats for breakfast! galing!"

“Now it’s getting interesting!”

The last of his shots, number 5, is uselessly blocked by the spinning flail. Some buckshot, sent back at him from the aforementioned weapon, hit’s the Poncho and falls uselessly to the ground. It’d take something more powerful to penetrate this piece of defensive garb. James pumps the shotgun once more, ejecting the spent shell. While it is still spinning through the air, the Cowboy reason across its chest with its left arm, and grabs the fabric of the Poncho on the opposite shoulder. In a single, quick move, the left arm extends and the Poncho comes free with it, and the Sheriff’s Star falls off the chest and lands on the ground. It only takes a light flick of the wrist to send it spinning vertically and in place between the 2 Gundams, obscuring their view from one another.

In this bit of distraction, where one might usually shoot through it, or something equally dramatic, James leaps to the left, firing twice while in the air, the first aimed at the torso, and the next at the head, hoping that the Jeepney might take a fraction of a second too long to turn to interpose his spinning flail at take a face full of buckshot to the face or side. It’s not that likely to happen, but it makes for good show.

Next, James doves a shoulder drive into a roll where he fires his last shot at the feet of the Jeepney, hoping to at least make it under the flail if Alvin can, in fact, bring it around. And at the conclusion of this, he pops up into a kneeling position, removing 3 shells form his shoulder-to-waist ammo belt, and sliding them one at a time into the magazine. If he’s lucky, he might be able to fully reload, but the Neo-Filipino seems a mite to competent to allow that to happen. He is now 90 degrees to the left (from his PoV) of the Jeepney.

"Hyaah! An opening!" Al exclaims. There stood the Cowboy Gundam, a mere gundam's length away from him, completely off guard, or so he thought. At a mere blink of an eye, the Cowboy Gundam's Poncho blocks the Jeepney's attack path.

"Gah!" Al grunts. He uses his vulcans to get it outta the way, and hails some bullets onto it. What he didn't see, however, was that the Cowboy had the three more shots waiting for him!

Patrick's heart starts beating rapidly; Hannah just covers her face. Meanwhile, Al sees the first two shots, but barely had time to deflect some of the buckshots back. Besides, it's extremely close range now. Bang! He played conservative and back out on the first shot, dodging it with a huge amount of backward AND lateral thrust. Bang! He did it again! Dodges the second on in the same manner. Bang! Jeepney's feet were shot. Or rather, his entire body was shot, with the center force placed at the feet. Lots of smoke, and when it cleared Jeepney was down on the ground, looking knocked down, face on the ground, but appears to not have any damage at all.

"Wait, Jeepney Gundam was already near outside the shotgun range! Did he just trip or something?" Patrick questions. It turns out the relatively strong armor of the Jeepney, along with the relatively weak damaging power of the shotgun (at this range anyway), saves Al again. However, the stopping force was still enough that it was felt, and the fact that the epicentre of the blast was in the leg he was bound to be tripped like that anyways.

Al quickly receives information from the A.I. that the damage was preventing 3% of his left leg and the rest of the body considered "Cosmetic damage." "Hmm, 3 percent, that's not too bad, hopefully that won't be the make or break decision of the battle," Al commented to himself.

Click! "What was that?!?" His sensors indicate the Cowboy Gundam is reloading! Springing back to his feet, Al jumps high into the air. Click! He then closes the distance with the Jeepney's respectable speed. He enters the range where the shotgun can land some noticeable hurt should James stop the reloading and blindfire him. A rare instance, he launches the pre-emptive offense. A quick pose, then, "Offensive Wild Flails, release!"

Jeepney starts to tumble and spin mid-air, then beams, those little beams that the Cowboy Gundam managed to shrug off the first few moments, are back This time, there are hundreds of them. In a similar manner a shotgun would spread the buckshot on the target, One can probably conclude that Jeepney's attack works the same way. Except, this one had a much bigger blast radius, not to mention it lasts longer than a click of a trigger.

"All or nothing now!"

The vulcan rounds are caught by the Poncho, but that is pretty much it. Vulcan rounds are much too weak to piece it, but as the Poncho lands, it covers up the Sheriff’s Star laying on the ground…

The Jeepney may be quick, but not quick enough as the Cowboy rolls into a back-hand spring, even if he drops 3 shotgun shells on the ground before loading them, he managed to get the into the magazine. He raises the shotgun, but notices it feels a bit light. When actually looking at it, he sees that most of the barrel is missing. It had been diced to ribbons when he dodged the flails.

“I see…”

He drops the now-useless shotgun and undoes the buckle of the shoulder-waist ammo belt and slides it off. The Neo-Filipino has not re-focused is attack, but it won’t take him long to do so. No matter, this won’t take long.

“Hey, you, its Alvin, right? Well, you ain’t that bad, so I guess it’s time for A Shoot-Out!”

Various screens pop up inside his cockpit as the shoot-out mode is activated. The suit’s sensors sharpen, giving him a better read on the enemy, in short, giving him a better target. The locks on the suit’s thrusters are also released, making this already fast suit even faster.

A moment later, less than a second, the targeting data comes back with a possible weakness: directly behind the Gundam. The flails may be able to block virtually any attack, but only when the flails are interposed. He runs in the opposite direction for a 100 meters or so before coming to a stop and turning around.

“James, I found a weakness! When he uses those flails for attack--”

“I already know, Jo!”

“Didja know he can only keep that up for so long?”

James is already on the move again, full speed back towards the Jeepney. “How long?”

“A few seconds, max. Wait? What are you doing? Are you planning on running through THAT to get behind him?”

“Something like that!”

“But that’s--” She was joking to tell him how crazy he is for planning something so absurdly stupid when the Cowboy takes to the air in a full on booster assisted jump. He isn’t planning on going under the Jeepney to get to the back side, he’s going to go over!

In mid-air, the Cowboy draws its massive Revolvers and starts to roll as it nears the apex of the jump, aiming for the back, timing the tumbling/spinning motion, waiting for the opportune moment to shoot.

THERE!

In unison, both cylinders turn clock-wise to align the next bullet with the barrel as hammers come back full-cocked and then race forward again, detonating the firing caps of 2 100 mm bullets, sending them towards the target. If everything goes as it should, this fight will be over in less than a second. Of course, fights rarely go as they should. But that’s what contingency plans are for…

"I can't believe it!" Al exclaims. "There was no way he could've avoided that barrage!" He managed to get rid of the shotgun, however, so that eliminates the deadly close range potential of the Cowboy.

“Hey, you, its Alvin, right? Well, you ain’t that bad, so I guess it’s time for A Shoot-Out!” After hearing this, the Cowboy undergoes a transformation, something that made Al feel a bit nervous. Is this like my... The Cowboy backs out, runs at a speed AL has never seen before. With James probably well aware of the Jeepney's lethal barrage, it makes no sense to keep firing aimlessly on a fighter that seems to have gained twice its speed at a transformation.

After all that thinking, however, the Cowboy was already on the move. Gotta defend! The Cowboy, hanging high in the air, releases two shots from the revolver. Al, however, was aware of the weakness of the attack he just used. Patrick and Hannah have explained the vulnerability of using an offensive wild flails, so its only logical that a fast fighter with the knowledge and resources would aim for that spot.

James using a flashy move might have been Al's saving grace, as jumping above someone who is already in the air leaves the jumper completely visible, good sensors or not. With 2 shots coming, he successfully blocks the left-side bullet!! However, the right-side bullet was also traveling the same way and time, and thus Al did not have time to coordinate his flail block, and instead of hitting the other bullet with the beam tip, he still hits the second---with the hilt.

"Grrgh!" He successfully defends himself from the bullet damage, but the momentum of the bullet was powerful enough to send Jeepney careening to the ground, much to the applause of the audience, who has quieted down for a bit.

With his back on the ground, Al quickly gets up, leaps and tumbles away from the Cowboy, who was still in the air, to get a breather and rethink his plans. "So, what happened here?" Al speaks. Hannah replies, "It has undergone a tremendous speed boost, at the cost of its defense. In fact, you can probably give the Cowboy a simple, powerful strike and kill it outright." Of course, alot easier said than done. "The revolvers, while powerful, can be easily deflected by you if you decide to play the long range game. Unless his sensors also got a boost. And by the way, your flails' beam emitter have shut down temporarily, but you can still manually turn it on, and you can manage only one more super-flail thingamajig."

"Thanks," Al replies.

Now it's not the time to panic. Like most of his martial arts trainers said, he needs to be like water. He needs to focus, and to be careful to avoid playing into the Cowboy's game, as well as ignore the crowd, with the latter most important, because:

COWBOY! COWBOY! COWBOY! COWBOY!

Jeepney Gundam waits for Cowboy's next attack.

The Cowboy comes down on his feel in a sort of semi-crouch to absorb the shock of landing and stands up. James grits his team and clutches his side, much to the dismay of the crowd.

“James? James?! Are you alright?”

Standing straighter once more, James takes a half step to his right to get a look at the Jeepney.

“Ya, Jo. I’m just find. I just got a ricochet in the side. No damage, it just stings a bit. I’ll be find.”

“Are you sure?”

“Ya, I just never fought anyone who had such a good defense before. It’s actually kind of worrying. By the way, you sound kinda worried yourself.”

“I’m just… I don’t want you to lose in the first round. You know how embarrassing that would be?”

“Ooo, I just feel the love…” he says dryly. Jo just snorts in response.

He turns fully to face his opponent. “You ain’t too shabby. Ain’t too shabby in deed.” He twirls the revolver in his right hand a few times. “But don’t you think that this has gone on a bit too long?” With that, he stops the spin of the revolver and takes off at a sprint to his left, racing to get to the side of the Jeepney, then though Alvin is in the epicenter. Whilst in run, he fires thrice more plus 1: one at the head, one at the lower shin/ankle of each leg, and one in the gut of the Gundam.

All the while, the crowds cheers give him strength. He is fighting on his Home Ground. He cannot lose here! No in front of all his countrymen! Above all else, Neo-America MUST PREVAIL!

He comes!

Using incredible lateral speed, the Cowboy Gundam manages to fire three more shots from the revolver. Unfortunately, this opponent is much too accurate at this point and time; Al deflects the first two, but with no angle whatsoever, sending the first two shots dissipating in the forcefield. However, the third one landed. Not to the point that the Jeepney gets its leg blown clear, as he was in a dodging position, but scrapes it enough to have a noticeable pain on Al.

"Aggh!" Al grunted. Hannah expresses concern, and talks to Al, saying, "Hey, you alright?" Al replies, "Yeah, just a little side wound, and yes, he did get an accuracy boost." Dammit! "And by the way, something must have messed up with the mobile trace; It won't let me do exactly what I want to do.."

Hannah says, "Just hang on, we'll get to that right after this match, right now defend yourself!"

"Heh, I think I'm doing a good job holding off this guy, but it wont take long till he figures out a way to cut right through me... I can only take so much bullets, ya know.."

With that, Al poses, turns on the beam flail emitters, and gets into a rushing, yet defensive stance against the Cowboy. This charge also fuels the majority of the Neo-Filipino fans to cheer for the Jeepney, even though the odds are slightly starting to shift in the opponent's side.

“You think you got what it takes to be a ‘Star‘?”

He prays to God this works. This is the first time in actually combat that the Sheriff’s Star has been used and he isn’t certain that it will even work, but sure enough, the small spinning star cuts its way through the Poncho and makes a bee-line for the Jeepney’s back. To keep his attention on him, James holsters his left pistol and uses his hand to steady his right, firing the last the rounds at Alvin, again aiming for the head, torso, and legs, before sliding the cylinder to the side and aiming the gun up, letting gravity pull the spent shells out, so he can then point it down and begin feeding fresh ammo into the now vacant chambers.

“Come and get me!”

The mini-buzz saw of a remote weapon should reach the Neo-Filipino Gundam before he reaches the Cowboy. The crowd is at war with itself, chanting for their favorite to win, trying to drown out the other side.

While the Jeepney was rushing. Cowboy releases the Sherrif's Star. makes a mental not of it, while continued his attack. The Cowboy then volleys three more shots, which forces the Jeepeney to hold back and deflect them again. This time, Al was prepared at their accuracy, and had better luck sending the first two back at the Cowboy. The third one, like the third. of the first three gunshots, hit his leg... again.

"Gahh!" The Jeepney Gundam falls down again. The same leg has been hit, so the pain there becomes more noticeable. While Jeepney was lying down on its back (again much to the applause of the Neo-New Yorkers) He saw the Sherrif's Star right above him! In his best Cowboy Gundam imitation, he fires his mostly unused pistol from the Jeepney's hip at the incoming remote weapon, displacing four bullets at the intended target. Al sees the Cowboy reloading once again, but right now AL has to defend himself!

With Alvin distracted by the Sheriff’s Star, he quickly reloads the first revolver and then pulls the second. Again, he opens the cylinder and lets the shells fall, except this time, he deftly picks out the unspent bullets and returns them to their chambers. The next the shells make it into the Jeepney as the 3rd bullet from the semi-auto that the Neo-Filipino packs, but seldom uses, puts a hole into the center of the Star, after the first one having missed and the second being diced. As if to add insult to injury, the fourth, and final, round destroys the small device completely.

“You bastard!!! You know how long that thing took to build! I worked long and hard on it you--”

James merely sighs as he cuts the circuit to the Chief Mechanic, Arisa Rothschild, who tends to get a tad… protective of her gadgets. He only hopes that Alvin didn’t hear her over the com. Holstering the left pistol, he pulls out what is right next to is, something that he really doesn’t get the chance to use, the Lasso.

The Cowboy Gundam, faithfully following all of James’s motions, lefts out a small length and then opens the noose a bit. Taking off at a run, James swings the noose high over his head, getting the speed (and more importantly) the momentum up as he closes in on the Jeepney.

I’ll teach Jo to this useless…

"Ah, so he finally decides to close in."

The Jeepney Gundam sees the Cowboy Gundam charge in with the Lasso. This would've played directly into Al's hands, if he were at 100% strength. However, right now he's been shot in the leg twice (in the same spot), hence he would not be as aggressive as he did a few minutes ago at close range.

Still charging at the Cowboy with an ample determination, Al swings his flails eight more times, targeting four mini-beam waves at each of James' hands. Al knew it wouldn't be enough, but it's at least something to make the Cowboy do something rather than charge at a straight line.

Had the energy waves been directed towards the torso, they might’ve been harder to dodge. As is, they are aimed at both hands, the right of which is over his head and the left is out to the side holding the extra coiled rope. The evasion is as much to play to the crowd as to avoid the beams. The Neo Americans roar as he brings to noose to his side and lets it open more, enough for him to jump through it, which he does, taking him out of the way of the mini waves in the process, before bringing the lasso back over his head.

With a grin, James comes to an abrupt stop and lets loose the noose. The hoop of rope flies true towards the Jeepney as he attempts to either get it around the neck or the upper arms. What happens next will decide what he will do. If he can get it around the arms, he’ll tighten it and attempt to yank the Neo Filipino off his feet. If he can only get the neck, he’ll pull the Jeepney down and then all the way to him, where he’ll probably crush its head under foot.
