Re: Astray novels and photonovels

My favourite topic on this board. There's something new and interesting each weekend. After Astray B you gonna do Destiny Astray novel, Frame Astrays novel and finally Vs Astray novel?

Isn't Courtney Hieronymous the Dreadnought pilot in that mock battle, I read somewhere he's supposed to have spatial awareness. Nice knowking Gai lost at least 2 battles: Socius and Courtney.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Yap, those and 3 more others. Vs Astray should be the last one im doing and that means quite some more translation to go. This thread wouldnt be ending any time soon...

Im not so sure if Courtney is the pilot, the story did not provide any clues regarding this.

Last post for Astray B.

While helping EA with its MS development, Orb also takes over some of the abandoned projects. One such project is IWSP, which PMP fails to complete due to the power requirement. Orb obtains the experimental prototype unit, IWSP 3, and secretly modifies it till it is usable. The power problem is solved as Orb’s technology in this area is the most advance. IWSP is completed onboard Kusanagi after Orb’s fall. Orb also manages to develop the Lightning Striker till a usable state.

Lowe witnesses a MS test through the Kusanagi’s lounge windows but there is something he does not understand. Usually, the best pilot is used in the test but this does not seem to be the case here. Lowe feels that the current pilot is overwhelmed by the MS capabilities. The MS that he is watching is Strike Rouge, which he sees in parts form while at Orb previously. He does not recognize the IWSP and thinks that it is a messy bunch of stuff put together, but he still likes it. To use such equipment well requires a pilot with certain skills and he does not blame the failure to control it well totally on the current pilot’s lack of skill. He wonders if there is a more suitable pilot and whether the pilot is selected by Erica, as the current one is rather lacking.

From their movements, Lowe identifies the 2 M1 Astray accompanying Strike Rouge IWSP as Kikuchi’s and Kuno’s, he thinks that either of them is a better choice. In the end, the plan to use IWSP on Strike Rogue is shelved and Aile pack is selected instead. The time needed to complete a new Aile pack and the adjustments required greatly delays Strike Rogue’s deployment date.

Although Reed no longer works for EA, there are still many who respect him and this helps him greatly in his mercenary work. Gai accepts a job to manage a nuclear powered MS and to observe the trends in the changing world, especially that of NJC. Due to this reason, Serpent Tail cannot ignore the existence of EA’s Peacemaker force. Using his contacts, Reed manages to infiltrate the force as a ‘military adviser’ hired by EA. In the luxurious observation room of the Peacemaker force flagship, Reed is looking at several monitors displaying real time war information. He is curious about what the Peacemaker force can do.

During EA’s attack on Boaz, Morgan Chevalier is responsible for creating a path for the nuclear missile equipped Moebius units. He launches in his Gunbarrel Dagger and upon his command, a large group of Strike Daggers engage the defending ZAFT MS. After 10+ mins, Morgan lost 3 gunbarrels as the wires for controlling them are easily cut during battle and he is forced to call for replacement units. A new Gunbarrel Striker is immediately launched and after attaching the rear portion of the Striker on his 105 Dagger, he lets the front portion return. He deems the pilot of the Striker a burden during fighting.

Boaz is soon destroyed by the nuclear missiles. After observing Morgan’s fighting style, Reed thinks that it fits his nickname, ‘Moonlight Mad Dog’. He remarks that the light from the nuclear attack may be enough to cause some to reconsider what they are fighting for and adds that perhaps the name, ‘Mad Dog’, is more suitable for the higher-ups that created this battle plan.

Garcia is venting his anger like a child in Artemis’s command room, he is angry at Eurasia Federation’s higher-ups and Canard Pars. Although he is not interested in the actions of those who leave his side, it is a different story if he is still hold accountable. He does not understand why he has such bad luck. Although the main reason for Canard’s escape is Garcia’s lousy way of handling things, he has no intention of blaming himself. To him, all the problems are caused by other people’s mistakes. Thus, he is bitter at being held accountable for Canard’s action. He then has an idea; since the fault is not his, he can get someone else to shoulder it. He immediately informs his subordinate to contact someone.

For the third time, Gai is arriving at Artemis due to work but the reception this time is different. Blue Frame 2nd L is attacked by Hyperion gundam unit 3, puzzling Gai and Garcia tells him that his mission this time is to die. He intends to kill Gai and frame him for Hyperion unit 1’s theft and its attack on the lunar base. Gai wonders why he is chosen and Garcia explains that he needs someone highly skilled to make the higher-ups believe his story. He questions how Garcia intends to defeat him and he replies that Hyperion gundam’s abilities will surprise him and he is no match for it. Garcia then boasts about Hyperion’s 360⁰ barrier but unlike what he expected, Gai calmly replies that he fought such MS before and will not lose. Gai cuts the transmission while Garcia is mid-sentence as he already knows the situation.

Blue Frame 2nd L rushes towards Hyperion with Tactical Arms in sword form and evade all its attack. The lightwave barrier is penetrated by the Tactical Arms shocking Hyperion’s pilot and Gai explains that it is made of laminated armour. In his previous battle with Canard, the beam coated Armour Schneider penetrates the barrier and it seems that Gai predicted that the Tactical Arms has the same capability. Gai is confident of his victory and the Tactical Arms splits open revealing the gatling gun. Hyperion gundam unit 3 is destroyed and Blue Frame 2nd L turns toward Artemis, Gai wonders if he should attack it. Umbrella of Artemis activates, but Garcia no longer deems it as a reliable protection as it has been proven in the earlier fight that it is no match for Blue Frame 2nd L.

Although the asteroid factory looks ordinary, it is in fact controlled by one of Azrael’s enterprise and serves as trial weapon factory for EA. It is also one of Blue Cosmo’s R&D facilities and has multiple layers of defence; it is more accurate to label it as a military fortress. It continues to produce weapons even though the war has ended. Once this news spread, it naturally becomes an eyesore for some but all the attacks ended in failure. MS does not have the firepower required to penetrate its solid, rocky exterior and although a warship can do the job, it is easily destroyed by the MA guarding the place. Finally, Serpent Tail is employed to destroy it.

Members of Serpent Tail gather at a civilian factory before the mission commence, Reed and Elijah both commented that it is a tough one. Elijah wonders if they have a chance of winning and Gai says that he is working on it, this is not what Elijah wanted to hear. As Gai did not give a direct answer, it shows how tough the mission is. Kazahana questions why Gai accepts it as she cannot think of a suitable answer. He replies that it is an enemy they will have to eventually deal with. Kazahana does not understand and blames it on being a child. At times like this, she wants to grow up faster. Loretta comforts her and explains that the enemy is strong and will get stronger; they are trying to defeat it while there is still a chance and this is especially true if they are going to eventually meet the enemy. The factory is continuous producing new weapons and this includes the MA protecting it. If they leave it alone, it will produce even stronger weapons. Despite knowing this, Loretta is still shocked by the MA’s equipment and calls it a new technology exhibition. Reed adds that the DRAGOON system is controlled by modified human (most likely referring to Biological CPU) meaning that they could be a large pool of potential pilots. Elijah is disgusted at the use of modified human but Reed dismisses it as the weapon is meant to kill people in the first place. As Kazahana listens to them, she hopes that such weapon never appear again. She looks at Gai and he assures her that he has a countermeasure, Blue Frame 2nd L is undergoing modification for this. It seems that this is one of the reasons they are at the civilian factory and Gai announces that they will be launching after the modification is done.

Gai moves the Blue Frame 2nd L ahead while his teammates provide support. Pergarnde immediately deploys its DRAGOONs and Gai dodges their attack with the slightest movement possible. The DRAGOONS’ accurate attacks mean that Gai cannot afford to be careless if he wants to survive. He fought with such weapon before but it was wire-guided then, the wireless version has a greater variability in its attack. He is waiting for the DRAGOONs to return for recharging and when this occurs, Blue Frame 2nd L rushes towards Pergarnde. Gai powers up the Lohengrin launcher’s nuclear engine as Blue Frame 2nd L make contact with Pergarnde’s core. Due to N-Jammers, nuclear engine can only function if it is within a certain radius of the NJC, which is not easily manufactured. Thus, Gai decides to use the enemy’s. Although this sounds simple, doing it involves getting real close to the enemy and this requires piloting skills at Gai’s level. He destroys the MA, detaches the special equipment that is now useless and returns to his teammates.

Next week, chapter 1 of Seed MSV Senki.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Thanks for the translation as always. Does it say if the Pergrande DRAGOONS fire beam and/or solid? It looks like they have both type of turrets on the DRAGOONS. On the photonovel it appears shooting green beams from the main gun. Also it only has 3 DRAGOONS? The 3 turrets without the extra barrel are fixed? Jp wiki mentions it has PS armor.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's the first of 7 Seed MSV Senki chapters.

The Suez Battle

The first thing Morgan Chevalier tells soldiers under his command is that there are 2 types of people on earth; those born to drive tanks and those who aren’t. He adds that although it is a pity that the latter exceeds the former, it is not unfortunate and they will be reborn today. The soldiers soon find out that there is hell on earth and Morgan is the warden. However, they also discover that these ‘ghosts’ are actually the protectors. Morgan is commonly described as a man not born from a mother’s womb but from a tank. CE 70, 5/30, midnight. A massive EA tank corp is waiting quietly in the desert for the enemy that is coming from the Mediterranean Sea.

ZuOOTs’ pilots are divided over the use of legs or tracks after landing as the developers did not test its usage in the deserts or on shores. The final decision is that tracks will be used, although they are no basis for it. Siren sounded and the ‘dark’ flares, a flare that release infrared, exploded in the sky. Such flare is developed to allow the passive IR sonar (sensor?) to perform to its very best under the effect of N-Jammers. Martin Dacosta’s throat feels sore as he moves the ZuOOT forward; he wants something to drink, even if it is bad coffee.

FUJIYAMA’s newly developed thermal homing missiles accurately hit the ZuOOTs. Morgan controls the tanks under his command skillfully, pushing the ZuOOTs around. Missiles harass the enemy and stop them from advancing while the tanks try to hit their vital areas. Indiviual ZuOOT is forced into a corner by multiple tanks. Wireless communication is useless due to N-Jammers while the varied desert terrain coupled with flame bait and scattered waste renders laser and IR communication useless. Although ZAFT’s tactical maneuvers are unbelievable, the strength of Morgan’s troop is beyond their imagination. By looking at the IR map, they know each other’s plans and needs without communicating. Morgan feels bad for the enemy; they have great firepower but their size is too large, MS that cannot adapt to the landscape and has their mobility reduced due to it has no chance of winning.

The heavier than expected causalities put fear in Dacosta’s heart, half of the ZuOOT force is already disabled. Shells fall like rain, missiles chase them persistently, the few empty gaps are covered up by helicopter’s attack and the ground is full of mines. He wonders if DINNs can turn the situation around but he knows that such new units are only assigned to Carpentaria base. His ZuOOT is hit, he glimpses at the console and curses as the walking system is critically damaged. He tries to change to running mode but the system tells him that it is impossible. Dacosta is now a sitting duck and the heat signatures of the closing tanks seem to be filling his monitor.

Morgan is informed about unidentified units and he wonders if it is a new type of MS. He looks at the data on the monitor and is shocked that they cross the Qattara lowland that so far no land base weapon has managed to cross. He sees that they are a group of 4-legged machine and is unsure if they are MS. The machines quickly disappear from view and a subordinate yells that they are jumping towards them. Morgan cannot believe that this is the movement of a machine. He concentrates his attacks on a particular unit but it avoids them all. Morgan’s troop is easily defeated and he is memorised by BuCUE’s agility. He later realises that the landing ZuOOTs are baits and although he wants to ambush the enemy, his own force is ambushed instead.

Andy apologises to Dacosta for being late and explains that Lessep’s scale motors malfunctioned while crossing the Qattara lowland. As reward for their hard work, he treats them to his specially prepared coffee. Dacosta grimly accepts and starts to blame himself. Only a few tanks survived and Morgan is convinced that the era of MS has arrived. He starts to lose his passion for tanks and he later labels that day as ‘separation from mother’ day.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's the next chapter.

Chapt 2

Coral Sea CE 70, 4/10

Jane Houston is the pilot of an anti-submarine helicopter carries onboard the helicopter destroyer, Kingsbill and is also researching on supersonic torpedoes. Her parents are marine biologists; they advocate limiting the navy’s use of sonar as they cause excessive damage to marine ecosystem and are preparing a lawsuit base on it. It seems that she did not tell her parents about her job. She feels that the sea does not reciprocate her love.

ZAFT managed to secure their sea base supply routes by dropping their submarines from orbit and then they travel through shallow regions of the sea to Carpentaria Base. To ensure safe navigation, ZAFT created their own sea routes. In a naval battle, Carpentaria is easy to defend but difficult to attack. EA tried to prevent ZAFT forces from entering Carpentaria, but the plan to intercept them at Torres Straits is delayed due to confusion in logistics and communications. As a result, the 21st ASW fleet that Jane belongs to is forced to leave the main fleet and go to Coral Sea to intercept the enemy.

Following order from Kingsbill, the anti-submarine helicopters deploys their sonobuoy. Jane alerts her co-pilot, Joachim Klaus (?) that they are picking up a signal and he instructs her to lower the helicopter. Sonar is deployed and Joachim discovers that there are unidentified incoming objects moving at high speed. He asks Jane to inform Kingsbill about the presence of ZAFT aquatic MS but before she can do it, the fleet has already fired their torpedoes. Joachim, who is tracking the ZAFT MS, is shocked by their speed and Jane comments that the torpedoes are intercepted. Joachim remarks that the information they receive is correct, ZAFT is replacing their weapons with MS. Following Joachim’s order, Jane moves the helicopter up and scans the area with other sensors as they lost track of the enemy. The dummy launched from the MS’s head causes the EA fleet to lost track of Marco Morassim’s team. Marco is satisfied with the performance of GINN FEMWS, which is labelled by its developers as a test unit for GOOhN. Marco is itching to find out how good it is as well as its firepower. His team consist of 3 GINN WASP and his GINN FEMWS.

Due to N-Jammers, EA’s cutting edge nuclear powered ships are rendered useless and the effectiveness of homing missiles is also greatly reduced. 2 missile destroyers accelerate and break formation; they are trying to attack the enemy’s supply ship hiding at the rear. Jane tries to provide cover but they are sunk before she can reach them. She detects the underwater trail of ZAFT’s aquatic MS using IR tracking; they are trying to attack the flagship. Her torpedoes are intercepted and she wonders if only aquatic MS can defeat them. The flagship and another vessel are sunk, leaving Kingsbill as the only ship left. As the GINN WASP surfaces and destroys an antisubmarine helicopter, Jane fires missiles at it but it dives back into the water before they hit. The helicopter behind Jane’s is destroyed and she immediately moves her helicopter above Kingsbill, trying her best to protect it as she treats the crews on board as family.

GINN FEMWS surfaces with the sunken flagship’s detector mast. Jane tries to stop it with the helicopter’s machineguns but she is soon mesmerized by the incoming mast as the way GINN FEMWS throws it is very human like. Joachim reaches from the back and push the control stick forward, causing the helicopter to tilt forward greatly. The mast hits the helicopter’s rotor blades and it quickly drops onto the sea. Jane’s Coral Sea battle ends in defeat and she holds the feeling that the sea does not reciprocate her love. Jane floats on the sea for 2 days; she is the only survivor of the battle and the image of the 4 MS that destroys her ‘family’ is engraved into her mind.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Chapter 3 of Seed MSV Senki. It is the only chapter that does not have any seed MSV aces.

Endymion Crater

Fredrik Ades, the vice-captain of a Laurasia-class frigate, notices that the bridge is filled with restrained excitement and the crew’s morale is extremely strong. ZAFT’s fleet is at the Endymion Crater and there is still 60 secs before the operation starts.

An operator in the Endymion Crater base is sending the Moebius Zero units out, she thinks that the situation is not in their favour. Rumours are rife that ZAFT’s MS are stronger than EA’s weapons and although the higher-ups claim that this is false information put out by the enemy to lower their morale, nobody believe them as the battles thus far show that it is true. She wonders how many of the Moebius Zeros’ pilot will return and feels that these 15 pilots are facing a hopeless battle, but she stills send them out nonchalantly as this is her job.

A GINN pilot avoids the debris from an exploding Mistral and moves his GINN towards the moon surface. He spotted an Agamemnon-class warship and according to data on screen, several other GINNs are after it. They all have the same thought and the GINN’s pilot is adamant that he will not let them get the glory first. The automatic navigation system analyses the warship’s movement and predict its future position. He keys in a command and the navigation system calculates the position where the GINN can intercept the warship. The thrusters light up and his GINN accelerates. Alerted by the alarm, he wonders if it is another Natural with a death wish. The speed and movement of the incoming enemy is different from that of a Mistral and he is informed by the computer that it is a Moebius Zero. It moves sideways quickly, dodging his attack. He immediately recognises that the enemy is experienced and that he cannot afford to be careless. As he switches to the machine gun, he is hit from both sides and then from the back. He panics and wonders how the enemy move that fast but soon realises that he is attacked by the enemy’s gunbarrels. Among the multiple alarms, his scream can be heard as his GINN is destroyed.

The team leader reminds the technicians that GINN High Mobility Type’s joints are different from that of the normal unit and to be careful about it. One of the technicians understands why their leader is so worked up as this is the GINN High Mobility Type’s first sortie and the pilot is the captain. He does not understands why the newly arrived MS is deployed before its test flight and wonders if this is because the captain is confident of his skills or there is something wrong with his brain. Either way, thanks to him, they have a lot of work to do.

His team leader is engaging an unfamiliar MS and Charles Kane notices that it is a high mobility type MS. He is mesmerized by the fight and thinks that although Lieutenant Flaga’s skill is exceptional; his enemy is also of the same level and has the advantage as MS have better armour. Lieutenant Flaga warns him to move away and he spots the MS changing direction, coming his way. He senses the enemy’s murderous intention and tries to surround it with the gunbarrels, but is surprised that the MS manages to dodge his attack. The alarm sounded, the MS raises its bladed rifle and that is the last thing he sees.

EA’s 3rd fleet is annihilated and Ades thinks the battle is ending soon. The fight between GINN High Mobility Type and the Moebius Zero is still on-going; it is as if it is a death match. Endymion Crater suddenly blows up and the explosion consumes both EA and ZAFT units. Ades’s ship is damaged and forced to retreat, the battle ends and later he learns that the explosion is caused by Cyclops system. After the battle, he is appointed as the vice-captain of a Nazca-class destroyer and re-encounters the pilot of the GINN High Mobility Type, Rau Le Creuset. He later learns of the weird relationship between Rau and the Moebius Zero’s pilot.

Ah, the battle of the Endymion Crater. About the closest thing Seed has to UC's battle of Lum that wiped out Side 5. Mu and Rau we knew about, but having Ades there is a nice touch too.

Hmm. So Rau piloted a GINN HMT before the CGUE. That's kind of interesting.
This has been a pretty fascinating topic. Always enjoy reading the new info that goes up.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

So, as always....

Chapt 4

One of the things Edward Harrelson is confident of is that he is qualified to do what he does. In fact, he is sometimes over confident. Edward’s team is alerted to the presence of 3 ZAFT MS in the same airspace. The enemy should have also noticed them but they did not know that one of the MS is piloted by ‘Ed the Ripper’. One of his subordinates confirms that the enemies are DINNs and comments that they seem to be carrying out sentry flight. Edward orders them to be destroyed as this is the rule in the South America neutral zone and is informed that the enemies have turned around. He quickly orders the weapons to be unlocked and gives his subordinates their target.

Edward’s HUD shows that radar navigation is useless and he changes the ‘King Cobra’ missile to image tracking mode. The enemy MS turns back after releasing flash bombs and Edward releases his prediction is wrong. The enemy is trying to run away. He remarks that the enemy’s decision not to fight with Raider is a good one but it is too late. The missile launches and pursues the enemy MS. The targeted DINN accelerates but the missile’s AI manages to predict its path and closes in. DINN suddenly decelerates and the missile cannot respond in time, overshooting its target and is subsequently shot down. Edward has been waiting for this moment; he destroys the DINN with the machine guns on the sub wing. He searches for his subordinates but is shocked when he finds them; they are closing in on their enemies in a collision like manner. Just as he is about to curse at them, he swallows his words. Both Raiders release their sub wing and turns back quickly. The sub wings fly forward, slicing apart the DINNs that are trying to stop them with their rifle. Both Raiders flaunt that victory with some fancy manoeuvring. An exasperated Edward yells at them and they ask if he finds their ‘Ripper Attack’ interesting, they have wanted to do it for some time. After hearing their innocent words, Edward feels weak; they are naively trying to reproduce the legend that gave him the nickname, ’Ed the Ripper’. He wonders if they know how much each sub wing costs and that the taxpayers must not know about this. He questions if they know about the origin of his nickname and they say that it originated from the battle of Victoria, where his MS is covered in blood as he cuts down the enemies. He replies that they are wrong on both account; his MS is covered in oil not blood and his nickname originated way earlier.

The incident that gave him the nickname is about a year ago. At that time, although his piloting skills was one of the best, his superior ranked him lowly as he was lacking in team work. That day, he was part of an F-7D Spearhead sentry team patrolling South America airspace. Like today, his team met with 3 DINNs just that 1 of them is a DINN Special Electronic Installation Type. In an aerial battle, EA’s fighter jet has the advantage in long range combat while ZAFT aerial MS has the advantage in close range combat. A DINN was destroyed by missiles fired from long range and the plan was to destroy the other 2 MS in a similar way. However, Edward disobeys and engages in close combat. That is a totally wrong decision and is best described as crazy. His enemy was the DINN Special Electronic Installation Type; it abandoned its radome to reduce its weight. During the fight, Edward sliced the enemy with his aircraft’s main wing, killing the pilot. Edward’s plane then crashed but he ejects before that. The enemy was taken aback by his fighting style and quickly retreats.

Edward landed in the interior of the neutral zone and managed to survive many dangers before he was rescued. He was called ‘The first guy to fight in melee combat with a MS using an aircraft’ and some in ZAFT started calling him ‘The Ripper’. Later, the high-ups transferred him over to the MS development team after considering his ‘love’ for melee combat. He started out by piloting a Strike Dagger, followed by Duel Dagger, Sword Calamity, etc until the current Raider. Battle of Victoria is where he formally acquires the nickname. His past impresses his subordinates and they wonder what makes him carry out the attack. He replies that it is a sudden idea flash. However, the truth is Edward was suffering from hangover that day and when he noticed he was on a collision course, it was already too late. He did not tell anyone the truth as being qualified also means not saying unnecessary things.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Another week, another update and we got 4 MSV aces in 1 story.

Chapt 5

Jachin Due 1

After launching from Kusanagi, Barry Ho receives a laser communication from Jean Carry. Jean teases that since Barry hated women, the ship is like a hell for him but now he can rest easily. Barry clarifies that he does not hate women; he just have difficulties handling Captain Ramius and Ms Lacus Clyne. Jean then asks about Princess Cagalli and as expected, Barry does not know what to say. The princess is unlike the other 2 ladies and since Barry is an Orb citizen, he dare not express his views. Jean describes him as a Karate enthusiast, who trains all day long and did not have any decent conversation with any woman. Thus, he is in trouble after boarding a ship that is full of women and deserve sympathy. Barry cuts him off mid-sentence as he talk about Captain Ramius’s breast and wants him to stop talking about such topic. Barry is blushing under his helmet; he is often surprised by Jean’s odd discussion topic. He is poor at handling the current topic as he is not good at such worldly affairs. Barry and Jean are part of TSA’s battlefield reconnaissance team, and are closing in on Jachin Due.

Rena Imelia destroys 4 GINN, 2 GuAIZ and disables a Laurasia-class frigate with her Buster Dagger. She remarks that since they like space so much, they should not have landed on earth. There is no hatred in her voice, just cool-headed observation and endless sorrow. The alarm sounded, she tries to identify the enemy but did not find a match in the database while the tactical AI estimates that it is based on CGUE. Both parties shoot at each other at the same time. Shiho Hahnenfuss moves her MS sideways and manages to dodge an attack. The sensors pick up an energy surge but she ignored the alarm and quickly reloads CGUE DEEP Arm’s cannons. The enemy is a strong opponent and is also using a range MS like her. In addition, both their tactics are similar and this makes her more determined to defeat the enemy. To overcome her MS’s cannons’ cooling problem, she has to increase accuracy and control her number of fire. She fires several more times, using her instinct to maintain the cannons’ temperature and decides to close in after the enemy evades her attack. Both Rena and Shiho are unaware that this is the first battle between female MS pilot.

Due to the long period of abstinence during his training, Barry has acquired a certain sixth sense. It is most sensitive during life or death situation and it is now telling him that there is something weird. Barry trusts his instinct and is determined to investigate. Jean is undecided as entering Jachin Due is dangerous but he cannot return empty handed. Since they are doing battlefield reconnaissance, infiltrating the enemy’s main base is not surprising but doing so requires a huge amount of luck. Jean, who calls himself ‘Battlefield Joker’, is keenly aware of this as he has been on the battlefield since the beginning of the war. He thinks that travelling through the battlefield and safely arriving at Jachin Due has already used up most of their luck and remarks that if they manage to return safely, it is because of god’s grace. He is amazed by Barry’s action and watches as he boldly enters Jachin Due through the MS entrance, it is as if he has mirage colloid system on his MS. Alerted by the alarm, Jean intictively moves his MS and dodges an incoming missile. If he is piloting the slower GINN or Dagger, he may already be dead; he is now alive due to the light weight M1 Astray. Jean feels that he has already used up all his luck. He is surrounded by a GINN, CGUE and GuAIZ, this remains him of a sumo ceremony and he secretly laughs. He glances at the entrance that Barry used and wishes him good luck. He pulls out the beam saber as it is more suitable for close range fighting and wonders if his enemies have bid their parents farewell.

Barry can move no farther in using his M1A and is confused. Although he wants to unmask the thing that is making him uneasy, he is unsure about leaving his MS. 2 GuAIZ appear as he decides to leave the MS, one in front and the other behind his MS. He immediately throws away the beam rifle and shield as they not suitable in confined space. M1A kicks off the wall and turn itself upside down. It then runs on the celling and as it passes the rear GuAIZ, it grabs hold of its head using the left hand. Barry activates the thrusters and lands on the ground, breaking the GuAIZ’s neck. He quickly turns the MS upside down again and manages to grab its rifle with the right hand. He aims at the stunned GuAIZ and destroys its head. He wants the pilots to stay in their MS for a while and starts to destroy their MS’s joints by stepping. He then presses his MS’s palm on the cockpit area lightly, jamming the cockpit door. At the same time, the impact causes the pilot to lose conscious and Barry predicts that they will wake up an hour later. Just then, he senses a large malice outside of Jachin Due.

Rena is surprised to see nuclear missiles coming her way. She thinks that this is Blue Cosmos doing and they already plan to sacrifice some of their friendly forces. She wonders if they are abandoned chess pieces and thinks that if she is stuck here now, she will be hit. She bites her lips and suddenly the CGUE DEEP Arms disengages and turns around, its back facing her. She wonders what it is doing. CGUE DEEP Arms has its cannons aim at the nuclear missiles. Rena raises the rifle as if she attacks now, she cannot miss. Shiho is determined to hit the nuclear missiles, even if that means showing the enemy her unguarded rear. She is prepared for her death but the attack did not arrive, instead she sees Buster Dagger flying away. She wonders why her enemy did that and realises that if she is in the enemy’s position, she will also do the same thing. Both of them think that defeating their enemy this way will not produce a winner. Shiho’s first shot misses and as she fires her second shot, she runs out of coolant for the cannons. She manually removes the system restriction, prepares for the third shot but the cannons start to melt and disintegrates. She pulls out the laser sword and moves towards the missiles. She knows doing this is suicidal but thinks that death is only a short pain. As she is thinking this way, the missiles are all shot down and she notices water droplets in her helmet. It is only later that she realises that those are tears. She suddenly thought of Yzak and wonders where he is.

Barry is attacked immediately after exiting Jachin Due, but he manages to hide behind the shield. The fact that he managed to avoid a direct hit means that his reflex is faster than a normal person’s. Beam shots deflected by the shield hit the beam rifle, damaging it. He identifies the enemy as a modified GuAIZ. The GuAIZ EFT attacks with its rail cannon shattering M1A’s weaken shield but the pilot is shocked that M1A is not behind it. The pilot’s computer tells him M1A is behind him and extremely close, causing him to comment that it is fast. As GuAIZ EFT turns around and tries to aim at M1A with its rifle, it is hindered by its power cable. Barry seized the opportunity and the M1A hits GuAIZ’s waist with its right hand. The impact is stronger than M1A’s developers intended, destroying GuAIZ’s internal system. After confirming that the GuAIZ EFT is disabled, Barry heaves a sigh of relief. M1A’s drive systems are overloaded due to the punch and some of the circuit breakers are activated.

GuAIZ EFT’s Subflight Lifter activates and aims at M1A’s cockpit. Barry is caught off-guarded but he is saved by Jean, who remarks that he helped him twice now. Barry replies that he did not notice the MS has the same system as Justice’s and concludes that his training is not enough. Jean says that it is not the only thing and Barry notices the surrounding MS debris. He wonders if it is the work of Freedom and Justice. Jean replies that it includes the work of the princess as well and they destroyed all the nuclear missiles. He asks if Barry is feeling uneasy because of this. Barry does not know how to put it, he feels that the missiles are part of the reason but his uneasiness still remains and is getting stronger. He comments softly that there is something else. GENESIS later uncloaks and fires, shocking Jean. This is the first time Barry heard fear in his friend’s voice.

Part 2 will also be about the battle at Jachin Due just that the aces involved are different.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

I'm a sucker for MSV stories and this one doesn't disappoint. Always been a fan of Shiho and Rena but it's cool to see Barry and Jean strut their stuff too.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Here's Part 2 and it centres around Mikail, Morgan and Edward.

Chapt 6

Jachin Due 2

Mikail Coast thinks that the EA is foolish; in his view, their use of nuclear missiles is akin to amputating a leg just to treat a minor leg wound. If Naturals really consider Coordinators as livestock, they should have made better use of them, banishment or annihilation will not give them any benefit. He remarks that ignorance is deplorable and concludes that because of their foolish actions, Naturals should be removed. His team of 6 GINN High Maneuver Type spotted an enemy ship. Mikail frowns as he sees that it is still launching nuclear missile equipped Moebius and immediately orders his team to sink it.

4 months earlier, Morgan Chevalier did not consider piloting anything else besides a tank and about fighting in space. He thus thinks that the war is rather interesting and smiles, however it disappears after he remembers his new order. He is ordered by the flagship, Washington, to support Oda Nobunga and protect its ‘Peacemaker’ squad. He dislikes the order as he knows what the consequence is, but he cannot disobey. Due to the N-Jammers and the debris from the failed nuclear missiles attack, it is difficult to communicate and locate object in this space region. After much trouble, Morgan spots Oda Nobunga but it soon explodes. He orders his team to spread out and prepare for enemy attack. Although the communication condition in this area is bad, the fact that Oda Nobunga is destroyed without sending any signal shows that the enemies are skilled. Morgan senses a murderous intention and instinctively moves his MS sideways, dodging an attack.

Mikail grumbles that the enemy is skillful; he originally intends to destroy EA’s MS team quickly after sinking the ship. He remarks that his team is lucky as they manage to meet EA’s latest mass production MS. Mikail thinks that the enemy must be thinking victory is theirs as they have the latest MS, and he is determined to show them better MS performance does not always translate to superior fighting strength. Morgan wants to yell loudly that the enemy is no GINN. He is satisfied with the enemy and is not angry at them for sinking Oda Nobunga, although it is fortunate that he does not know anyone on that ship. In fact, he is rather grateful that he does not have to assist in the hated nuclear attack anymore. His senses also tell him that the opponent in front of him is his natural enemy. Morgan considers himself lucky and thinks about his past. After the Suez battle, he becomes a MS pilot. Previously, when he was the commander of his tank troop, he manages to accurately guess several times the enemy’s positions and his subordinates’ location without communicating or any surveillance. His colleagues call it ‘Morgan’s Trick’ but he dismisses it, and personally thinks that it is due to his experience and instincts. After hearing about his abilities, the higher-ups ordered several tests and they show that he has the spatial awareness needed to control the weapon called ‘Gunbarrel’. He is thus transferred to space. Morgan is unaware that Andy Waltfeld, the pilot of the BuCUE that impresses him, is actually in a nearby space region. As EA’s tactics instructor, he established the basic MS strategy of destroying an enemy MS by surrounding it with multiple friendly MS units. Coincidentally, this is similar to Mikail’s way of fighting and the battle between both teams turns out to be a battle of skills and abilities, rather than tactics.

During the battle, Mikail identifies 3 105 Dagger equipped with Aile Striker, there is also 1 each with Launcher Striker, Sword Striker and finally what seems to be the commander’s unit with a Striker system similar to Moebius Zero. He thinks the last unit deserves special attention and attacks it with the rifle. The enemy evades his attacks and deploys the Gunbarrels. Mikail thinks that he meets a tough adversary and although he heard before of special EA pilots that can use Gunbarrels, he thought that all of them died during the battle at Endymion Crater. It seems that the news that there is 1 survivor did not leak out. He wonders if his enemy is a survivor of that attack. The 2 MS move away from the rest; the Gunbarrels’ attack accuracy increases and finally hits the GINN High Maneuver Type’s rifle. For the first time, Mikail feels that the god of death is beside him. At that moment, he is informed that GENESIS is preparing to fire and he is within its firing path. He tries to move away from the line of fire but does it in a manner that causes his enemy to be within the path. He did not care about his subordinates, who are all in the path, as they should have received similar information. In his view, whether one survives a battle or not depends on one’s wit. If the commander is responsible for his subordinate’s live, then the subordinate’s existence has no meaning.

GINN High Maneuver Type’s movement arouses Morgan’s suspicion and he wonders what his enemy is planning. The next moment, a large beam appears behind his MS, destroying 3 of the Gunbarrels. All the alarms sounded and according to the computer, radiation level is rising abnormally. 105 Dagger’s systems immediately switch into ‘Survival Mode’, in which sustaining the pilot’s life is the priority. Although Morgan avoids the beam, his MS is as good as dead. The sensors show that his enemy has left the area, Morgan is unsure if the enemy did not kill him because he has no weapon or he thinks that Morgan is killed by the beam. He is upset at being underestimated and restarts the MS’s systems. He cannot spot his subordinates on his sensor; when GENESIS fire, they are all in its firing path. It is only hours later that he knows that more than half of EA’s forces are disabled by GENESIS’s attack. Although he hates it, he is forced to admit that this battle is like his earlier defeat during the Suez Battle.

About 4 days later, GENESIS fires its second shot and the surviving EA forces are reorganised into Genesis attack teams. Edward Harrelson wonders if any of the Strike Daggers under his command survived. As ZAFT are being corned by EA, he understands their usage of Genesis. However, EA’s situation is different, he feels the organisation has little regards for human life and comments that EA is disgusting. Still, GENESIS has to be destroyed, as otherwise it will destroy earth. Edward launches and decides that if he survives, he will execute the plan that he has been thinking for some time. Mikail wonders which side is the cat and which side is the mouse. He is ordered to guard GENESIS alongside other MS and feels that they resemble a pack of mouse. The sensors alert him that the enemy is closing in and he notes that although they have a leading unit, the rest are in disarray. He comments that both sides resemble a messy kitchen. He immediately sets his eyes on the commandeering unit; he can identify it easily as EA has a habit of giving special MS to commanders. His target is the orange MS with 2 anti-ship swords. Edward has trouble breaking through the enemy’s defences, which has a mix of MS using beam and solid weapons. He feels the enemy has the advantage as they only need to delay them till GENESIS’s next shot. As he curses, he sees an opportunity. He throws the beam boomerang at an enemy MS, which responds with its beam rifle. As both beam weapons clash, a bright flash is created and Edward rushes forward, catching the enemy off-guard. After slicing the MS apart, he spots the commander’s MS and points his sword at it.

Mikail exclaims that GINN High Maneuver Type’s performance is not just for show, and disables the sword in Sword Calamity’s right hand with the blade on his rifle. He then grabs onto the disabled sword with the MS’s left arm and pulls the enemy closer. As they are too close, the enemy has difficulties welding the large sword and Mikail claims that the ‘lesion’ is removed. He is about to pierce the enemy’s cockpit with the blade rifle when its hand suddenly rotate 180⁰ and the end of the sword handle starts to release a green glow. Mikail instinctively moves his MS back but the laser from the sword handle manages to cut away his MS’s right arm. Throwing away the disabled sword, the enemy attacks with the other sword and Mikail wonders if this is his end. He is oddly satisfied that he maintains his cool till the end. As the sword is about to hit the enemy, Edward is distracted by GENESIS’s explosion. Mikail is stunned as well and they are soon hit by a shockwave from Jachin Due. Mikail wonders if Jachin Due self-destructed and when he recovers from the shock, he finds that the fighting has stopped. He thinks that nobody in the area knows what is going on, but they vaguely sense that the battle has ended. The enemy MS in front of him is no different; it slowly lowers the sword in its hand and Mikail no longer feels its hostility. He suddenly feels an uncontrollable rage as the enemy turns around and prepares to leave. He yells at the enemy to stop fooling around with him and with bloodshot eyes, he charges with the beam saber that is specially prepared for GENESIS’s defence.

The alarm alerted Edward of his carelessness and he can do nothing but be mentally prepared for the impact. At the same moment, the GINN High Maneuver Type’s limbs and head are destroyed by attacks coming from another direction. The disabled MS floats away silently. A familiar voice commented that Edward is still too lenient at the last minute. Edward checks the IFF system and confirms that the damaged 105 Dagger with a single Gunbarrel that saves his life belongs to Morgan; he used to be Edward’s instructor and reprimanded him badly several times during that period. Morgan adds that although human are born to be kind to others, it is not a bad idea to be a bit harsher next time. Edward asks if the war has ended and Morgan thinks that it is just temporary. Edward then comments that he is tired and Morgan agrees.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

The last chapter for seed MSV

Chapt 7

After the war, many soldiers left the army and return to their normal life before the war started. At the same time, there are those who decided that they want to be a soldier for life.

The new recruits in EA like to describe Morgan Chevalier as being born from a MS, not from a mother’s womb. He tells them that there are 2 kinds of people; those born to pilot a MS and those aren’t. He wants them to treat their MS as their own body and that they are just a component to drive the MS. He also suggested that if they want to survive during the battle, they should try to wrap the whole MS with their senses. Jane Houston used to think that by piloting EA’s first batch of aquatic MS, Deep Forbidden, she may be able to exact revenge on the MS team that destroy her ‘family’ if they meet by chance. However, that team is destroyed before she can meet them. Even though the war may end if EA signs the cease fire agreement with PLANT; Jane feels that as long as human have the capability to continue fighting, the seed of war will always be there. In fact, she is deployed to fight against those who used to be her comrades during the war. Her heart is now as murky and dark as the water surrounding Deep Forbidden. For Edward Harrelson, the end of war is just the beginning of another new war. He is now hiding in a camouflaged front line base and has been moving around South America, trying to liberate the country. As the Coordinator threat to all Naturals has disappeared, the fighting is now among the Naturals. Edward defected from the EA soon after the 2nd Battle of Jachin Due and stole some of the EA’s MS as presents during the process. Since then, he has become a notorious fugitive and from EA’s point of view, he should definitely be executed. However, among his current comrades, he is treated as a hero. He is sad that he has to fight his previous comrades but thinks that it will soon become a habit.

As Barry Ho stares at the starry night sky, he is reminded of his friends and enemies. For Barry, his fight is already over when the 2nd Battle of Jachin Due ends. After bidding farewell to his friends, he immediately returns to earth. However, his memories of the fighting then did not disappear even as he continues his daily training in the mountains. Rena Imelia continues to stay in the army. Not only is she leading her own troops now, she is also serving as a MS instructor. Her enmity towards Coordinators did not diminish even as the peace treaty is being negotiated. Rena’s battle has not yet ended. After the battle, Shiho Hahnenfuss returns to her original job at a research institute but due to ZAFT’s request she is soon back in the military. ZAFT is currently undergoing reorganization and rearmament. Shiho is piloting MS again as she searches for the meaning behind her fighting. Mikail Coast was seriously injured during the 2nd Battle of Jachin Due. After his recovery, he re-joins ZAFT as a medical officer. What effects his survival has on his character is unknown, but he has no intention of stepping into a MS cockpit again.

There are also those who go against the flow of time; people who refuse to stop fighting and their ending are not recorded down in history. CE 72, end of February. In the debris belt that is not within the control of EA and ZAFT, a bullet from a 76mm heavy assault machine gun hits a debris and creates a weak flash. The GINN Ceremonial Decoration Type’s pilot is informed by his comrade that his aim is off by 5m. He wonders if this is due to the specially produced bullet and adds that the friction with the rifle’s barrel also contributes to the problem. Although he corrects his aim after every shot, there are still some errors and he thinks that it is due to the system’s limitation. Thus, his aiming error is due to the accumulation of multiple small problems in different areas. The pilot is reminded by his comrade that he will only have 1 shot during the event and he decides to rely on his skills instead of the machineries and computers. The rifle is reloaded and he shuts down the aiming correction function of the rifle’s laser aiming system. Relaying on his experience, instincts and some luck, he slowly pulls the trigger. Due to the feedback system, he is able to feel the pressure on the rifle’s trigger as he presses the button the joystick. He manages to hit bull’s-eye 4 times continuously and laughs after that. The faces of his deceased wife, children and friends flash across his mind and he vows that he will erase their regrets.

EA’s and ZAFT’s fleet gather around a large Junius 7 debris for the signing of the peace treaty. A MS force comprising of a mix of ZAFT MS with different affiliation is approaching the area, their common point is that they do not acknowledge the peace treaty. Their only aim is to restart the war by disrupting the ceremony, and they plan to indiscriminately attack both EA and ZAFT forces. If possible, they also want to kill all the officials present. These pilots have no intention of surviving the attack; all of them have lost everything in the war. Their path is suddenly blocked by a white MS docked to a set of large thrusters. One of them recognised the set of large thrusters as Verne 35A, another recognised the MS as a M1 Astray while another recognise the MS pilot as Jean Carry. Jean returns to Junk Guild after the war and although he cannot stop their revengefully intention, he wants to stop their plan. Jean tried to persuade them from carrying out their plan but was rebuffed. No matter what his intention is, in Coordinators’ eyes, Jean joining EA after leaving PLANT as the war started is undoubtedly betrayal. Thus, there is no ground for discussion in the first place and that leaves fighting as the only way to stop them. The fighting power of the Verne 35A equipped M1 Astray is above that of the MS force comprised mainly of GuAIZ and GINN. A short but intense battle occurs and during the battle, the pilots see shadows of Freedom and Justice during the fight with Jean. As Jean defeats the last MS, its pilot proclaims that they are not afraid of death and that there are others out there who will inherit their will. He adds that Jean will fail and the world will once again be consumed by war. These last words cause Jean’s heart to turn cold.

A GINN Ceremonial Decoration Type secretly leaves the formation and enters a region of the debris belt overlooking the large Junius 7 debris. It aims its rifle at the bridge of the EA ship which serves as the venue for the signing of the peace treaty. The pilot received information about the security arrangement beforehand, and decides on the current firing location after analysing it. He knows that he only have a short amount of time. He loaded the rifle and looks at his watch; it seems that his comrades have carried out the diversion attack nicely. To repay them, he cannot afford to fail. He moves the MS to the optimal firing point and keeps his family photo into his pilot suit. As he is about to fire the bullet that is filled with the hatred of the deceased, his sniper’s instinct tells him to turn the MS around. In front of his eyes is a blue MS holding the largest sword he had ever seen. He presses the trigger but the blue MS seems to have already predicted the attack and easily evades it. To reload, the pilot pulls the bolt and ejects the empty cartridge. At the same time, the blue MS closes in and stabs the cockpit. It then grabs hold of the rifle that floats away from the hands of the damaged GINN Ceremonial Decoration Type. The blue MS looks around and spotted the empty cartridge, causing its pilot to comment that the mission is completed.

The signing of the Treaty of Junius 7 ended peacefully. The attempt to disrupt the ceremony is not recorded by both parties, it is only noted that a GINN Ceremonial Decoration Type went missing.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Moving on from seed MSV, there will be 2 posts(including this one) on Frame Astray photonovel before hitting Destiny Astray photonovel.

‘The Family’ is a group of people who uses their wide influence to control the world secretly. They have massive political, financial and even military power. Their military power is split into 2 groups: 1) Circus, the ace pilot training organisation and 2) a civilian military enterprise alliance. The size of both groups is larger than that of a private military and they are hidden within the army of each country, giving them the ability to manipulate the war. Although ‘The Family’ is now gone, the civilian military enterprise alliance they created still remains as the world still needs their military power.

As Leons Graves is a Natural, there is only a limited number of MS he can use. He uses a Civilian Astray as among the MS he can use, it can be considered a high performance MS. After looking through Alec Lad and Rudolf Wittgenstein’s data, he has doubts about working with them. Rather than spending time explaining his ideas to them, he thinks that it will be faster if he fights with the enemies himself. He is unhappy that his company sends Suu to help him after he requested for reinforcement and considers him an extra problem. Besides thinking about how to win his battles, Leons is also concerned about the cost required. As an employee of a civilian military enterprise, both victory and budget carries the same importance. Although the modified parts he designed for his Civilian Astray is completed some time ago, he did not use them due to cost problems. If he deploys the modified Civilian Astray without approval from the finance department, he cannot claim the bill for the modified parts and will have to pay for them himself. In the end, he decides to use the modified Civilian Astray as he wants to pilot the MS he designed. At the same time, he is a little shock by this irrational action.

Rudolf Wittgenstein is from a respectable family in PLANT and he inherited a large fortune. He labels himself as a ‘graceful hero’ (in japanese and chinese, the term can be shorten and Rudolf use that) and he likes to fight only with enemies that he admired. It seems that if his enemies are too weak, he will let them go. He doesn’t mind being defeated as there is a sense of beauty about it. Using special membrane coating technology, real gold is permanently fixed onto the surface of Rudolf’s Gouf Ignited and he is proud of the fact that nobody else can imitate this action of his.

Both Lukas and Xist are not completely trusted by those around them. As they are not Naturals, they are treated unfairly by EA and the better their combat results, the more they are marginalized. The reason for this is that EA is worried that the pair may betray them. Both of them understands this and knows that it is unavoidable, however, Xist still have trouble accepting it.

Lukas O’Donnell is piloting a GINN High Maneuver Type II and he finds the fighting around him boring. In the beginning, Lukas finds the war interesting but this interest starts to wane as he realises that some politicians are using the war for their own gain. He has doubts about Gilbert Durandal despite not knowing what his motive is. In fact, he has become the main reason why Lukas is losing interest in the war. He actually wonders if the whole world is being manipulated by Durandal. As he is an ace pilot, he has difficulties leaving the army. Some of his ex-comrades deserted as they are unsatisfied by how the previous war ends. He did not follow them as he does not share their ideas, but now he is wondering if he had missed the opportunity to leave the army. During the battle, a red CGUE destroys some of his teammates and Lukas immediately knows that the pilot is a Coordinator. An idea flashes across his mind; he can leave ZAFT if he is captured by the enemy. Although being a captive may be boring but he thinks that it is better than his current situation. He then moves toward the red CGUE with the intention of losing the fight. Although he later becomes teammates with Xist, who trusts him completely, Lukas has other ideas. During a certain battle, where he is providing cover fire for Xist, Lukas starts to wonder how Xist will react if he shoots him instead. He quickly suppresses his dark thoughts as it is still too early; if he shoots Xist now, only he will be surprised and this is not enough excitement for Lukas. In addition, Xist is hiding something from him. Lukas knows that Xist receives a set of equipment from EA but after partnering him, Xist seals that equipment up. He wants to see more things and gain more information before he plans his actions. Before he was sent to the Asian region, Lukas was the test pilot for Raigo and its striker pack which are still in testing phase. He first thought about betraying EA while testing Caliburn Raigo. Caliburn is a sword used by King Arthur but it breaks when he did something that is against a knight’s code of conduct. Lukas knows about this tale and starts to wonder if this is a sign for him to betray EA. He knows that it will end badly but he still finds it interesting. Lukas has never thought about a happy ending for himself; he just wants to use his fighting skills fully. After Suu stole Raigo gundam, Lukas propose a MS battle between Xist, Suu and himself to decide who should be its pilot. In the first round, Suu battles Lukas who is using Sumbullet Raigo. Suu gives up after realising Raigo does not fit his combat style and this seems to match Lukas’s plan. Xist did not even bothering fighting as he is not in the mood.

As Xist has mixed blood, he tries to show off his abilities so that others will notice him but the more he tries, the more negative the responds becomes. He finds this hard to accept but thinks that the situation now is better as previously he often suffers from friendly fires during combat. Now with Lukas around, he has somebody to protect his back and this makes him stronger. Before Lukas’s arrival, Xist receives a set of equipment from EA (the shoulder shields I think); it is created so that Xist can fully utilise his fighting capability. With this equipment, Xist’s CGUE Assault performs superbly, destroying the enemies from the air using its 6 gatling guns. At the same time, certain changes happen to Xist when he uses this equipment. He no longer has any feelings or emotions as they are unneeded; he is only a machine spreading death on the battle field. He does this willingly as he feels that by not being himself, he is able to maintain his own (true?) identity. As he destroys all moving things on the battle field when using this equipment, all friendly forces will quickly retreat when he launches. He thus receives the nickname, Chaotic Child, as he brings chaos to the battlefield and simply because of his mixed blood identity. However, Xist has difficultly lying to himself as using the equipment is torturous for him and he soon hesitates using it. Thus he is glad that with Lukas around, he does not have to use it anymore. As such, he can now fight with a lighter mood until he is forced to use it again. Due to the amount of time he has spent with Lukas, Xist can sense when he is having evil thoughts/ideas even though his expression remains largely unchanged. They have also formed some kind of understanding/partnership during combat. Xist starts to feel down and uneasy after Suu joins them and they become the 4th party in the battle. He knows that Lukas is just using Suu and after seeing how Suu reacts to Lukas, Xist begins to wonder if he is also being used by Lukas.

Re: Astray novels and photonovels

Part 2 for the Frame Astray photonovel.

Although most of the Socius clones have been ‘dealt’ with, Three Socius is still allowed to remain in the army. The number, ‘3’, in his name indicates that he is one of the initial batches of Socius clones. As such, he accumulated quite some experience in the army and has some results to his name. His superior rates him highly and does not understand why others are trying to remove his fellow clones. Socius clones are created to protect Naturals but in Three’s case, he is being protected by a Natural. As the criticism about Three Sociu starts to increase in the military, his superior is forced to assign him to the Asian region. His superior frankly tells him that this is the most he can do for him. He wants Three to live on and try to survive the fighting. As Three is created to be without much emotion, he does not feel sad about his predicament. However, he often recalls his superior last words to him and although it is not an order, those words have a bigger impact than any orders. As the fighting continues, Three swears that he will survive.

Suu is a combat coordinator created by ‘The Family’ and is different from that of EA’s. The Family’s combat coordinator program, which is done through the civilian military enterprises they control, is more focused than that of EA’s; they remove all non-combat related functions and add any that is beneficial to combat, even if those functions did not originally exist in the human body. Suu is always wearing a mask and no one has seen his real face. Although his combat abilities are above expectation, he does not have any ‘human’ character (for a lack of words) and is difficult to control. In a battle created by ‘The Family’, Suu attacks both enemies and allies. Ile De Llorar, who is sent to monitor Suu, is greatly shocked by the situation. As Suu destroys all the combatants, Ile starts to feel afraid as he realises that Suu is going to turn his attention to him. Ile uses the virus equipped on his Proto-saviour to gain control of a damaged MS and attacks Suu, Using the attack as a distraction, Ile escapes as he knows that he is no match for Suu. Suu’s ZAKU Warrior’s performance is above that of a ZAKU Phantom due to its customization, and when combined with his piloting skills, its performance is beyond the design of the ZAKU series. Suu prefers melee combat and has a 4 blades fighting style. Suu does not care about the civilian military enterprise that he belongs to or his ZAFT employer, he only instinctively thinks about how to live better on the battle field. It is also for this reason that he helps Lukas with his plan.

The word, Godless, reflects Barry Ho’s attitude towards war and means that as he does not believe in any religion, he has no god to pray to and can only rely on his fist. In his younger days, he used to stay at a village in the Asian region while training. When he heard that the war spread to the village, he quickly retrieves Green Frame and went to the village. Gai’s Hyperion G appears in front of Green Frame; Barry knows that Blue Frame is currently undergoing modification at Ame No Minashira and thus Gai is not performing at 100% as he is not using his custom MS. Although Barry feels that this is regretful, he still has to defeat Gai as he wants to protect the village. A few months later, Barry passes Green Frame to Trojan Noiret and the word, Godless, is removed. Trojan then accidentally causes a forest fire while testing Green Frame’s beam rifle. Barry once forces Trojan to stay in Green Frame for a week so as to make him feel that the MS is part of his body and this will help him to fight better. Barry commission the building of twin sword rifle after handling Green Frame over to Trojan. Later, Trojan challenges Gai again and tested twin sword rifle in the fight. He manages to deflect Gai’s attack and carry out a counterattack in a single move. Although he won the fight, Trojan knows that Gai is just following his wish to see the twin sword rifle’s capability.
Fujiyama decides to deploy Raigo gundam in the Asian region as the fighting there is of a smaller scale and thus suitable for actual combat testing. Although Lowe has no rights to be involved in the testing, he manages to get himself in and eventually become the head mechanic for Raigo. This is partly due to his character and partly because of his skills. Raigo’s striker pack designs are inspired by the 3 Imperial Regalia of Japan. While watching Speculum Raigo’s test flight, Lowe commented that although its mobility at best is similar to gilding, its speed is ridiculous and he wonders if wind resistance even affects it. Speculum Raigo flies at such a fast speed that people looking at it only see a brief illusion of it created by light reflecting off its wings.

ZAFT tried to reclaim the base taken over by Lukas’s group but the attack failed. The enemies are using MS left in the base and are emitting ZAFT identification code, resulting in numerous cases of friendly fires and chaos within ZAFT’s attack force.
As roughly half of Raysta’s parts use those of M1 Astray, it is already half-antique when it is put into production. As such, it is also extremely cheap. Blue Frame Third is designed by Lowe and manufactured in Ame No Minashira. The last component to be completed is Blue Frame Third’s arm blades which use a rare metal. If Blue Frame Third is completed earlier, 4 astray units will appear together at the hangar as Green Frame was still there about a month ago.
