Re: Topic Submission Thread

Got a new one for you guys.
How about discussing these series from my first mailbag entry for Chaos Theater.

Sliders(for Chris), Seaquest DSV(for me), Farscape(for Pedro)

Guessing they would be right up your alley for shows to watch and diacuss.

If you could get Peter, I would like if you could talk about the Fate/Stay Night series and all its spin-offs.

Re: Topic Submission Thread

What would you guys say to doing spoligts on these if you have seen them?

Black Lagoon(both series and the recent OAV)
Mezzo DSA, Mezzo FORTE, Kite, Kite Liberator(all those related works)

And Futurama.
Futurama deserves discussion on Chaos Theater.

Re: Topic Submission Thread

This may be fitting for a potential Slaying The Sacred Cow segment, I ran across this article about Lou Dobbs accusing two films one of which is Hayao Miyazaki's The Secret World of Arriety of having a political agenda.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interes ... ent-agenda

Perhaps this could be part of a discussion of trying to find political agendas in films where none exist, such as when the film Astro Boy from a few years ago was recently accused of having a communist agenda. The whole thing came off sounding like trolling by the pundits who don't have any idea what they are talking about and are clearly spouting nonsense out of their ignorance. I guess I'm offended by this because anyone who knows Miyazaki's work would know better than make such a miss aimed accusation as this, if this subject is too political for the podcast I understand.

In closing Lou Dobbs, shut up!

Cobra by Buichi Terasaa. Discussion on the TV series, movie, OVAs and the manga would be great. I know that having clips of Space Adventure Cobra (movie) in Matthew Sweet's Girlfriend music video (1991) brought in new fans to anime fandom.

Re: Topic Submission Thread

I've been listening to Chaos Theater and I've noticed that the Podcast has yet to do a Star Wars segment. I know that original the trilogy has been talked to death and the prequel trilogy is very hated topic. Also many of us aren't familiar with the Expanded Universe. I also notice that this podcast also covers video games and I was wondering if Chaos Theater can do a topic on one of the best Star Wars game ever made: Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic developed by Bioware.

For those of you who don't know, SW: KOTOR is a prequel Star Wars RPG set 3000 years before the 6 Star Wars feature films. I'm pretty sure its spared from George Lucas's creative control and revisionist history. It got a lot praise for its Storyline and Gameplay during its release and for me personally it felt like I was the main character in a Star Wars movie or mini series that's not directed by George Lucas. KOTOR's popularity warranted a sequel KOTOR 2 with mixed reception and it was not developed by Bioware, but instead by Obsidian (the guys who did Fallout New Vegas). And eventually came the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic set in the Old Republic timeline.

Re: Topic Submission Thread

In a recent CT, Chris recommended 13 Assassins.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/13_Assassins
The movie is a remake of an older film. I haven't seen the original but this was a fantastic movie. It's available on Netflix so take a look.

Anyway, this got me thinking about remakes of older films, specifically samurai films. And if you think samurai films, you must think of Akira Kurosawa. A discussion on his works and how much influence he has had on Hollywood would be an interesting topic to cover.

Eden of the East, Tiger and Bunny, District 9 and Burnout Paradise (or franchise as a whole). Those are only some you might want to think about.

Re: Topic Submission Thread

Not sure if you guys have it planned or not.
Your doing one on Nolan's Batman entries.

So would it be too much to ask for a cinema spotlight on the Avengers maybe?

If it's going to be The Avengers, might as well include Iron Man 1-2, Thor, Incredible Hulk, Captain America. XD
