(Fooni)mation Suspends Dragon Ball Z Blu-Ray Restoration
FUNimation recently released a Blu-Ray set with the first few episodes of the series, due to fan demand. They went in and cleaned the episodes frame by frame, getting rid of dust/scratches/saturation/camera jitter etc. Looks like the process was too inefficient for them to sustain and they are looking into going about the project in another way (if at all).

While it isn't mecha related, although there are mecha in the show from time to time, it's more related to the broader point of the feasibility of restoring old shows for the higher quality Blu-Ray format. No doubt, First Gundam and some of the older mecha shows could use a restoration (reversioning, anyone?). Just proves that simple concepts that fans have in their heads don't always line up with reality of the market and technical capability. If FUNimation is having trouble with their flagship franchise, chances for lesser-known mecha shows to get a similar treatment are far away.

The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn't. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down.

I don't usually jump in on news posts, but you've completely misread that post. Viz has not lost the rights to any of those titles. That website is dropping hosting scanlations of all those titles because Viz sent them a cease and desist. Please read posts carefully before you post news.
