jabman025 wrote:It has been shown time and time again that newtypes don't need very long to form a deep connection with each other. When Lala and Amuro met on the battlefeild it was for what 10 mintues or less. Yet in that short time it affected Amuro so much that he thought about her for the rest of his life. When Amuro killed her (while trying to kill Char I might add) it really hit him hard......why should it he barely knew her. I am not saying Banager did the right thing, I am saying I realize why he did it.

Banager is not a soldier, a combatant but not a soldier and yes there is a differance. He fights for a cause his own. He does not fight for the larger goals of the federation or Zeon. He does not follow orders. He does not have a rank of any sort. He would have been kicked off either ship (or killed) by now if not for the fact that he is the one and only person capable of piloting the Unicorn. I am not saying he has not gotten neck deep in this conflict. I am saying that he is making the decisons of an individual, doing what he thinks is best for him. Not as a soldier and making the decisons for the "needs of the many." (yes I saw the movie)

So in conclusion Neo, you are wrong, despite what you to tell yourself in the morning. Even your idol Michael Bay would understand the points I'm making. So chill out.
Ok, once again Jabman, you lack facts. Amuro and Lalah did not only meet on the battlefield. Don't you remember the cabin scene with Lalah and the Char pit stop? So there's a larger sample of a newtype connection. Banana passed Loni in the hall for a second and did not appear preoccupied with at any point.

And regarding to the definition of a soldier, see below for the definition from dictionary.com:

sol·dier   [sohl-jer] Show IPA
noun
1.
a person who serves in an army; a person engaged in military service.
2.
an enlisted man or woman, as distinguished from a commissioned officer: the soldiers' mess and the officers' mess.
3.
a person of military skill or experience: George Washington was a great soldier.
4.
a
person who contends or serves in any cause: a soldier of the Lord.
5.

Also called button man. Slang . a low-ranking member of a crime organization or syndicate.

see bold for the defintation that fits Banana. person=Banana, cause=his own (according to the Defender of Destiny)

Lastly, keep your immature attacks of Sir Bay to yourself. All he's ever done is bring explosions and happiness to the children.

I do it, because 4chan commands it. No, actually, after episode 4 came out, they started calling him that and I felt it fit. Give the devil his due on that one.

And Dollow might I say, that appreciate all your hard work and I have inquired about you joining the Order of Bay. I'm awaiting an answer, I'll keep you posted.

I see, I knew someone that also called him that too, but because he hate his name after ep1 and not because of ep4.

I will add something to Gundam AGE, Largan might not get the Saji Cross, but he sure does get the Colasour Medal of Survival as that guy gets pown everytime he is in his unless suit.

and about the Order of Bay, I will think about it.

This part of the podcast was hilarious. My guess was that it was part expression of dislike for his portrayal this episode and part in-joke with regard to how Neo always mangles hard to say names and that Banagher is one of the weirdest I've ever seen even from Gundam.

Speaking of Sir Bay, why did this explosion-laced episode of UC not receive a "Michael Bay Rating"? I think it would rate highly on that scale, given it's lack of inventive storytelling and being bereft of character development.

Y'know, on reflection, the staff missed a big opportunity to base this episode on the style of daikaijuu movies. After all, isn't the whole thing of Shamblo attacking Dakar very giant monster movie-like?

That aside, the whole thing with Banagher ignoring all of the people Loni killed is a pretty common mistake in entertainment. That whole thing where not being a named character means you may as well not exist. Millions of people can die and characters we're told are soft and caring individuals won't even bat an eyelash (making them, when you think about it, seem completely monstrous), but they'll shut down when someone important to the plot dies.

It's one of the definitions of bad writing.

That is very rude, sir, to make comments like that.

I love how a bad movie directed by any director is excused and director receives little or no blame for the movie. But a bad movie (like Revenge of the Fallen) directed by Sir Bay is ridiculed and he assigned blame for every aspect of that movie, even the catering. Its sad.

But I know this, those who bark the most about Sir Bay, secretly love him probably even more than me.

Y'know, EP 4 still devoted about 30 mins of its episodes simply to conversations, where we saw more of the Zimmermans past, and Mineva accept her position.

I don't really understand the "it's just mech-porn" complaint. Of course there is action, but Unicorn still devotes a lot of time to character moments and world-building discussions. In the case of Ep2 and 4, half the episode...

Really? You don't understand the mecha porn comment? Sure you watched episode 4?

Well... there was a lot of penetrating, explosive actions, thrusting, and the there was quite a climax at the end.

Not to mention the way Riddhe grabbed Banagher's magnum and shot a hot load all over Loni's face. :)

But seriously, when the showcase of every obscure machine from MSV takes up so much screentime that very little actually happens in one-sixth of Unicorn's runtime, "porn" is really all it can be called.

I'm not sure I agree that very little happened. They covered two books worth of material (albeit with major streamlining) and most of the mecha porn only happens around 30 mins in. If it was wall-to-wall action sure, but the first 30 or so minutes was simply character interactions and development. If it was really just porn then we wouldn't have gotten that Diner scene, the trek through the desert, the Vist/Marcenas politicking, ect. The climax was the action pay-off, but not enough to characterise the entire episode as mecha porn.

Few developments were made on the Laplace front, though the Laplace program really just exists to send the cast to different locations and propel this roadtrip through UC. As has been criticised, and rightfully so, Laplace is just a macguffin, it's the ride that's important. Next episode we'll be given another set of co-ordinates to show-off some other UC location, but I've never expected any real Laplace developments until the final episode.
