New interview with Jerry Chu on Bandai/Gundam history...

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/anncast/2011-12-16

Interesting interview that goes through Bandai's US history from Anime Village on, and includes talk on Gundam in the US, including how 0079 damaged Gundam's momentum on TV and in toy stores following Wing.

Re: New interview with Jerry Chu on Bandai/Gundam history...

An interesting interview, Jerry has some somewhat interesting answers even though Chris has somewhat answered or guessed some of them before on the Gundamn podcast.

I will say that at times Jerry is right with some entries of Gundam, but the OVAs and alternate universes got pretty interesting.
08th MS Team is one of those from UC which stood out as being different from the standard fare.

I don't think he said anything on Code Geass much or 00 or Unicorn, then again he did say he hasn't seen so much recent anime and all that.

Can't add much more to this post anyway.

Haven't listened to it yet, but i remembered this: http://www.mahq.net/rants/interviews/jchu.htm . Don't know if there's some intersection between the topics of the two, but it's there.
Well, I guess I'm a nobody...

I find it funny that he says Gundam SEED wasn't a rehash, but rather fresh and hip and "right", while panning just about everything else.

Ironic considering he's been away from Bandai for... how long now? Do I detect a hint of someone being a sore loser?
