If i remember correctly, the chinese translated MG Destiny manual indicates that Destiny is classified as a 2nd stage MS and given the 'S' suffix to cover up the fact that it is a nuclear powered MS, which should have an 'A' suffix instead. The manual also states that the way its armors are split is diiferent from Strike Freedom. As the special edition model kit has a shiny inner frame, the manual also provided a technical explaination (or excuse) for it. Will provide translation in the next round of updates.

Dinn Special Electronic Installation Type

This variation of Dinn was created for early warning and to command battle from the air. When making a speedy retreat, the radome is discarded and its internal components will self-destruct. Compared to normal Dinn, this unit has a heavier focus on flight endurance. The wings are equipped with large high-lift devices and as they are internalized, air resistance is reduced during high speed flying. Back of the aeroshell has a vertical stabilizer which increases aero stability. Suspended engines mounted on the variable pivots on the bottom surface of the wings are able to generate forward vector forces (?) regardless of the wings’ sweep angle. These modifications allow it to obtain maximum subsonic speed, making it superior to the original unit. The cockpit is modified to fit 1 pilot and 2 operators, thus the enlarge chest area. The seats are arranged in a row, can rotate 90⁰ and can also recline. The cover of the compound sensors in the chest are made of super hard transparent resin to allow detection of ground activities at high altitude. As the radome blocks the compound sensors, they are not used at the same time. Gun racks are replaced with multi-functional storage pods and they usually contain additional sensors, ECM pods and other electronic equipment. However, they can change depending on mission/situation; other possible options include flares and N-Jammers dispenser. When in temporary frontline bases or other facilities without launch system, rocket assisted take-off system will be used and most of the time this system makes use of the storage pods. To reduce the possibility of being detected; low visibility, EM wave absorbing paints are used.

BuCUE Waltfeld Custom Type

It has modified power and drive system, complementing these modification are changes to the materials used in certain parts of the unit. Compared to normal BuCue, its output and maximum moving speed, when using its legs, is 17% and 21% higher respectively. On the flipside, its balancing is poor (BuCue is well known for its balance) and controlling it is difficult. It was a testbed for LaGOWE and was not intended for combat deployment, but Waltfeld forcefully appropriate it due to its high performance. Its power system is strengthened in preparation for beam sabers. The fangs are not adopted as they are deemed a hindrance during transport and when in base or fighting in the street.

BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type

This unit was created to reconnaissance the fighting capability of the opponent’s ground force. It has a stealth system developed by ZAFT that uses similar principle as that of Mirage Colloid system, but it only affects radar detection. Mono-eye sensor is replaced with 3D sensor array made of ultra-small optical sensor units and when used together with high performance graphic processing unit, super high definition recording is possible. Some units are equipped with metaphase SQUID sensor (system evaluation version) on the head unit and can carry out reconnaissance even under the effects of N-Jammers. This sensor also contains bi-directional quantum bitstream communication system, which is still in experimental phase. An enhanced multiband sensor cluster is fitted at the side of the head. Radome on its back is for aerial detection. High output laser guns can function as sensor and/or communication system. Missiles, machine guns and other weapon pods can be mounted on the wing hard point. The drive system and other basic parts are the same as those on standard BuCue. It is usually deployed with a team of MS. It is rumored that such units are used by a special team under the direct command of the defense ministry. There is no official record of such a team and its existence is strongly denied by the military. It is believed that this team is involved in non-regular combat, e.g. assassination. Some believed that the rumor is created to place psychological pressure on the EA and may have been done by the same PR company that gives Andrew Waltfeld his nickname.

Destiny Gundam (from MG manual)

This unit was developed upon the order of ZAFT Chairman Gilbert Durandal. The original concept was to combine the versatility that Impulse gundam obtained from using different Silhouette packs into 1 unit. Development started by using Impulse gundam as the base unit and the different Silhouette packs are combined into 1, creating Destiny Silhouette. 4 Destiny Impulse are produced, but according to the test data, it is better to start the development of a high performance unit from the ground up rather than use Impulse gundam as the base unit. Thus, the development shifted to a brand new unit, Destiny gundam. The chairman wanted all the best technology to be included in the new unit and this includes technology prohibited by the Junius Treaty. Besides fitting the unit with systems developed from existing technology, many unique systems are also created for the MS, e.g. palm beam cannons, allowing Destiny to fight in unique ways. Regarding Destiny’s model number, the ‘A’ suffix that represent nuclear engine is purposely removed and replaced by ‘S’, which represent Second Stage. However, Destiny’s performance is above Second Stage MS and should be classified as Third Stage or higher. Before it is handed over to Shinn Asuka, it has undergone adjustment and slight modification according to his combat data so that it can produce the best performance possible.

During the design phase, it is clear that the limited movement of an ordinary MS will limit Destiny’s performance. Destiny is equipped with weapons all over its body and they have to be deployed in combat without much time lag. To solve this problem, the basic MS structure is separated into smaller, movable parts. At the same time, the joints are made of special materials used in PS armor. This allows the properties of the joint material to change according to the movement (I think this line is talking about the stiffness of the joints during movement). This joint material will release a faint metallic shine when the joints are active. The unit’s performances meet expectations but its structure is more complex than those of a normal MS’s and there are unresolved problems regarding its production and maintenance.

Movement range of the leg units are expanded as the armor parts are divided into smaller pieces and they can slide against each other easily. This is similar to creating gaps in the armor and can result in lower defensive power. The development team minimizes this problem by determining the possible movement range from Shinn’s combat data and hence how the armor parts should be divided. This allows Destiny to have maximum mobility without sacrificing too much defensive power. Minor adjustments continue when the unit is handed over to Shinn. Although Strike Freedom uses a similar armor dividing system, the fundamental thinking behind it is different. The main purpose of such system in Strike Freedom is to increase mobility so that the unit do not get hit. To put it crudely, it ignores the reduction in defensive power. Although both units are designed by ZAFT, it is unknown whether they are meant to have the same armor dividing system as Strike Freedom’s data is deleted from ZAFT’s system when it was stolen.

As the propulsion system uses technology from DSSD’s Voiture Lumiere propulsion system, wings of light are produced when output increases. It is estimated that this technology did not came directly from DSSD, as they refused to provide assistance to the military. The system in Destiny is different from Stargazer’s; both systems are the results of parallel evolution of the same basic technology. Other units with similar system are Strike Freedom and Delta Astray. Each unit contain different version of the system and it is interesting that these variants are completed at roughly the same time. [According to Phantom Pain report, some of the martian technology originated from the precursors of DSSD and mars obtain Voiture Lumiere technology while it is still in its early stages.]

"Arondight" Anti-Ship Sword is the longer, improved version of Impulse’s "Excalibur". Other units cannot freely wield the sword as they are not flexible enough to use a sword with such length.

Positron Blaster Cannon

According to Destiny Astray photo novel, the newer generation cannon do not pollute the environment. In fact while the Archangel was undergoing repair in Orb in CE71, its positron cannon was already replaced with the new version. Part of Archangel’s repair was done by the local Junk Guild and they sent information about the new technology back to the organization.

GINN Tactical Air Reconnaissance Type

This MS was not built for reconnaissance, similar to BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type, it functions as a platform for evaluating experimental equipment in combat and is equipped with the same stealth system. It leads to DINN’s development and also has Mirage Colloid stealth system. Normal GINN backpack is replaced by Aeroshell system so that it can fly in the atmosphere. To increase its mobility during aerial combat, additional thrusters are installed on the waist and legs. Aersoshell contains the same 3D sensor array as BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type. Due to limitation in the Mirage Colloid system, it cannot be used while flying. Stealth effect while flying is due to EM wave absorbing paint. The shapes of some parts are re-designed for stealth but as there is little change to its basic radar cross section, it did not have much effect. The experimental close combat beam assault rifle is designed before the theft of gundams; the beam is weak and can only blind enemy pilot. Thus, it also carries the heavy assault machine gun during combat. The spike on the rifle is made from special alloy and when its tip is in contact with the target, explosives near its base are ignited, driving it deep into the target. Ventilating holes near the spike’s base are for venting heat and gas created during ignition. Usage of the unit is similar to BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type and is shrouded in secrecy. Although limited, some are equipped with aerial command system in the Aeroshell.

GOOhN Underground Mobility Test Type

Build to infiltrate enemy lines to search for targets, gather intelligence, destroy underground facilities and to carry out underground exploration, etc, it look similar to GOOhN but the upper body has been re-designed. The unit’s surface is covered in scale motors and fibre optic network which controls them. Scale motors crush and liquefy surrounding rock and soil, propelling the unit forward. It has a distributed processing system with thousands of self-regulation nodes scattered around the body, making the self-regulation system extremely complex (seems to be for the scale motors). It is equipped with radar, optical sensors, subsurface radar and sound detectors. Diverting fins (?) with scale motors are installed around the unit so that it can change course while underground. As it is an experimental unit, it has limited weaponry. There was a plan to equip it with underground torpedoes that has scale motors but it was not implemented. Torpedo launchers in the arms are replaced with spikes used for digging while the launchers in the head are removed to allow crushed, liquefied soil to move to the back. The only fixed weapon is the phonon maser cannon. Compared to other MS, it is not as practical and is difficult to use. While underground, subsurface radar is affected by changes in the conductivity of soil, causing its long distance detection/scanning to have low accuracy. Sound detectors cannot be used when the scale motors are active. As scale motors cannot break through thicker rock layer, geological survey has to be carried out beforehand. These complex preparatory operations greatly reduce its practical value. 3 units are created and although they are no plans to deploy them in combat, they are deployed during the battle of Panama, after its weaponry is improved, as ZAFT’s fighting capability is greatly reduced after the battle of Alaska. Enemy units bursting out from the ground surprised many EA pilots, causing some to be psychotic afterwards. All 3 units managed to return safely.

GuAIZ Experimental Firearms Type

Subflight lifter initially had 3 thrusters but due to insufficient thrust, it was increased to 6. This MS was developed before the appearance of N-Jammer Canceller and initially uses battery reactor. It only last for 5 mins when PS armor and beam weaponry are in use. It was increased to 10 mins when auxiliary power pack was installed in the subflight lifter. Nuclear reactor was later installed; auxiliary power pack was removed and replaced with M9M9 "Cervus" turret machine gun. There is no official record of its combat deployment, but it was seen at the battle of Jachin Due. Although the details are unclear, it is estimated that it was an unauthorized deployment done by frontline soldiers.

Destiny Impulse

Due to its structural complexity, Impulse gundam’s production cost and maintainability was considered poor, training also greatly stressed the pilot. Thus, less than 10 units are deployed. Main difference between Silhouette pack and Striker pack is the former’s ability to use Silhouette Flyer. However, to use it efficiently requires a large dedicated vessel equipped with the necessary storage and management systems, making deployment of multiple Impulse gundam difficult. ZAFT wanted a multipurpose MS that can handle any combat situation, but this can lead to uncontrolled proliferation of specialized variants as the fighting expands. Technical staff reflected on this problem and made improvement to Impulse gundam’s multipurpose concept. As a result, Destiny Silhouette was developed. The large number of weaponry is an extra burden on Impulse complex structure and the beam weapons consume a lot of energy, requiring on average 3 deuterion beam energy transfers per sortie. Energy transfer system cannot be used too often during combat as it stresses the machine’s structure. Due to these problems, even if it has high performance, it may not be able to fully utilise it.

Ootsukigata

It has a high performance fire control system that is directly linked to the sensors; it can recognize up to 128 targets and lock on to 32 targets, but these numbers are halved when under the effects of N-Jammers. To improve the air tightness of the cockpit and to enhance the cooling system of the radiation protection system, air to air missiles are replaced with additional cooling equipment. Communication and AI systems’ digital data pass are revamped, so as to strengthen the cooperation with M1A. The legs and shield contains auxiliary thrusters, other than functioning as heat sinks, they can also be used to control its posture when in atmosphere. Ootsukigata are stationed at the lunar city, Copernicus, as reserve forces and later launched from Izumo class ships, Susanoo and Tsukyomi. Its main color is blue to differentiate it from normal units.

Impulse Gundam (from MG manual)

Silhouette system is developed from the Wizard system. All 4 Destiny Impulse gundams are deployed in combat. Impulse gundam is developed with the concept of deploying alongside Minerva. Impulse’s modular structure may have its root in a similar system used by Regenerate gundam. In addition, the concept for deuterion beam energy transfer system may have originated from Regenerate’s laser propulsion system, which uses energy from GENESIS Alpha. Chest and leg flyers have landing gears so that they can be deployed and recovered from normal bases. Leg flyer has 3 landing gears while the complex chest flyer transforms portions of the shield for landing purpose. As the Second Stage series of MS are able to use the energy transfer system, they are thus equipped with high output beam rifles. These rifles all have the same design concept and are based on MA-M20 “Lupus” beam rifle. Impulse was involved in the development of experimental component that would enable the usage of EA’s Striker pack. During testing, Core Splendor was replaced by a core block with multipack capability. Coordinators originating from Orb are involved in the development of the core block. According to the data obtained, the core block can use all of the EA’s Striker pack, including Noir Striker. It can also use Akatsuki’s "Oowashi" and "Shiranui" pack as they are produced based on Striker system. "Flash-Edge" beam boomerang is not a real boomerang, and has this name as its shape is similar to one when the beam edge is generated. The whole V-shaped component on the Sword Silhouette can be removed and thrown as a weapon. As it does not generate a beam edge, attack power is low but its large mass can deliver a large impact on the target, changing its course.

White Cross on Kaite’s MS

In order to leave Circus, Kaite participate in a MS target practice where his MS is the target. He will be allowed to leave if he survives. His MS is painted with a white cross and the center of the cross serves as the bull’s eye. Kaite managed to kill his comrades and is allowed to leave. It is not stated clearly in the destiny astray novel, but I get the impression that he later painted his MS with the cross in remembrance of the comrades he killed. It is unknown if the white cross painted then is the same as the white cross that he uses.

2nd to last update

Junk Guild actually produces new products that use PS armour. Liam was impressed by the PS armour on GENESIS Alpha and carry out further research and refinement on it. One of the best-selling PS armour product is cars with part of their frame that can phase-shift and protects the driver during car accident. To comply with the terms of Junius Treaty, EA and ZAFT pays Junk Guild a fee so that they can help with dismantling and processing extra military equipment. That’s why in destiny astray, Junk Guild is able to equipped Blue Frame 2nd and Elijah’s ZAKU with nuclear engine equipped Meteor during the defense of GENESIS Alpha against EA.

ZAKU Trial Type

When its development was cancelled due to Junius Treaty, 47 units had been produced, with slight variations among them. In official records, all these units have been dismantled and scrapped; however, there are eyewitnesses’ accounts to the contrary.

Noctiluca ZAKU Warrior

Due to their nature, aquatic MS is restricted to water bodies and certain land environment. Production cost cannot be lowered through mass production as they are produced in smaller numbers than general purpose units. Other problems include, special training has to be given to the pilots and the weapon system is prone to problems. Noctiluca ZAKU Warrior was developed to solve these issues. Movable fins on the shoulder are for aerodynamic control (?) while skidding on the water surface. Head unit contains periscope and other sensors; modification/change of the head unit is carried out while equipping the Wizard pack. For ZAKU Warrior, the right shoulder armour needs to be changed. It is designed for amphibious assault on coastal facilities and can also carry out escort missions, i.e. anti-submarine operation. How deep it can submerge is unknown but seems to be limited to a shallow depth. Settings for the depth charge can be altered from the cockpit. It is rumored that it is given the name “Noctiluca” as its mono-eye gives off a red light while it is hiding at shallow shores at night. Kaite uses his customised unit to protect gigafloat while in destiny MSV, ~10+ Noctiluca ZAKU Warriors are used in the attack on Heaven’s base with 1 unit being part of a recon team that discovers Nibelung. Unfortunately, the team is destroyed before it can relay the discovery back to base.

ZAKU Splendor

It is created to assess the practicality of core splendor and deuterion beam energy transfer system. Prototype core splendor’s flight capability is not as good as that of Impulse gundam’s, but is sufficient for evaluating the concept. Although still in testing phase, the energy transfer system is already equipped on the MS and the receiver is installed at the head. Propulsion and AI control system of both upper and lower portion of the MS are improved; allowing them to fly under gravity for 5-10 km. Due to the shield’s aerodynamic properties, the upper body’s flight performance exceeds expectations. It is speculated that it is due to political reasons that core splendor is not implemented beyond Impulse gundam. 2 ZAKU Splendor were produced, 1 was damaged during endurance testing and scrapped while the other was kept as reserve after Impulse gundam was produced and its current whereabouts is unknown

Command ZAKU CCI

Even though the transmissions of electromagnetic waves are affected by N-Jammer, radio communication is still a very effective communication method. EA and ZAFT use every means possible to maintain the reliability of radio communication on the battlefield and Command ZAKU CCI is one such method. Ultra high performance composite communication system is equipped on the ZAKU and extensive modifications are implemented so that it can performance to its fullest under the effect of N-jammers. As the ZAKU’s internal structure has been heavily modified, some feels that it should be classified differently. All electrical components are changed to low or even no noise type to reduce interference with the communication systems. Part of the directional communication system has been redesigned, boosting its precision to 500 times that of normal ZAKU. The unit’s coordinate estimation system has been greatly improved due to new components. Communication system has an independent power source and even though it has quantum data communication system, external power source is required for its usage. Antenna rifle can be said to be the central equipment of Command ZAKU CCI, its production cost is roughly that of a ZAKU. The rifle uses technology derived from Mirage Colloid system, allowing the antenna to have better performance than similar types. During operation, it is usually accompanied by a minimum of 2 combat MS. Although it seems reasonable to have a communication type MS in a MS team, this is most likely due to ZAFT’s biasness towards MS. The recon team that discovers Nibelung also contains a Command ZAKU CCI.

Proto-Chaos

A prototype machine created to test the combat capability of MA. ZAFT was impressed by the performance of the transformable Aegis gundam and after analysing it, the technicians concluded that although MA is outdated, there are still new possibilities. This is reflected in ZAFT’s post war MS development, in which all 5 machines incorporated transformable structure. "Callidus Kai” multi-phase beam cannon is not installed in this unit, in its place is the mono-eye sensor and cockpit. 6 units are created and they collected extensive data, with the main focus area being high G stress response. Chaos gundam is able to fly in a 1G environment, Proto-Chaos which has 2 additional DRAGOONs, has higher propulsion power and remains pilotable in extremely high G environment. It can be seen that the mobility that ZAFT wanted in their MA is different from that of MS. As the high G testing is too demanding, all 6 units are heavily damaged. 3 units are not repairable and after carrying out structural analysis, they are scrapped. The other 3 are repaired so that data can be gathered for Chaos gundam. The 3 units are currently stored at Armoury One.

Xist’s Cgue Assualt

The 2 shoulder shields are newly developed by EA for Xist’s use. Not only do they serve as shields, they also have aerial control function, increasing the unit’s aerial mobility. In space, they also serve as AMBAC units. When equipped with this equipment, Xist will attack the enemies from the air using all 6 gatling guns but Xist hates using it and seals it away.

Civilian Astray 0 Custom

Its IWSP pack was originally from Strike E. Lukas give it to the pilot as he likes the customisation. This machine was involved in defending the captured ZAFT base from ZAFT forces that tried to reclaim it.

Caliburn Raigo

As the rocket anchor is enlarged, its power also increased. The giant beam saber is supposed to complement the anti-ship sword. The new beam boomerang seems to be a combination of beam and solid weapon, with the beam surrounding the solid edge. FJIYAMA’s development of Raigo was made possible due to former Orb citizens as well as assistance from Actaeon Industries.

Few weapon doubts:
-Does the Dragoon Flyer have any weapons? Since it appears to have 4 front retractable machine guns and 2 swivel rail guns.
-The Blue Frame's 2nd Long Range and Fourth small hand rifles/pistols, are they beam or solid weapons?
-Blue Frame's 3rd back mounted rifles, are they beam or solid weapons? Since they are for jungle combat it'd be strange for them to be beam rifles, still I've seen them labeled as such.
-Guard Shell's weapon loadout, lots of Laser based ones, any explanation for them?

The photonovel did say that similar to skygrapser, the Dragoon Flyer is able to provide support during combat. I take that to mean that it is combat capable. It seems that multiple units with Silhouette pack will be deployed during combat so that the transfer of the packs to impulse is faster. Like gaia/chaos/abyss impulse, it is also a 'what-if' unit. It has a hidden mono-eye at the top.

I'm not sure if the pistol is beam/solid weapon. The only picture i have seen it in action can be interpreted as either way. Personally, i think it is a solid weapon.

The back rifle does seem to be beam weapon. They can be used when attacking ZAFT base, which i think arent in the jungle.

Unfortunately i dont have much information on delta astray, so im not sure. I do know that despite their name, Mars Tank, is not for combat.

GOUF Crusher

During the competition for ZAFT’s next generation mainstay MS, X2000’s selling point is that it is a multipurpose MS that can change its limbs easily to suit the combat situation. However, this also leads to higher cost and preparation difficulties due to the many possible combinations. X2000 is eliminated from the competition due to this problem. Although it is later put into production, the changeable limbs design is not implemented. GOUF Crusher is produced to showcases the multipurpose capability of X2000. Power from the impact vise’s explosive cartridge allows it to produce a maximum crushing power of 3 million G, destroying normal armour in 1 hit. Another ignition method for the cartridge is used when facing PS armour, as 20-30 continuous hits are needed to destroy it. Cartridge is ejected upon ignition. Spherical breaker is attached to the heat rod through a connector at the rod’s tip and to absorb the recoil produced when using it, a larger right arm with higher strength and output is used. Spherical breaker also contains rocket thrusters. Although its evaluation results are excellent, it is not adopted. It is put into rapid response mode and stored at Garage 5. It is later deployed in the battle of Heaven’s base. GOUF Crusher and 6 Slash ZAKU Warrior infiltrated the base and managed to capture the executive members of Blue Cosmo although their leader escaped.

DOM Trooper Original Spec Type

Another candidate in ZAFT’s MS competition, it uses mirage colloid technology in its offensive shield. However, as Junius Treaty bans the usage of mirage colloid, its value is greatly reduced. It is eliminated from the competition and its development is frozen. Due to the belt-fed system, the Gigalauncher is capable of firing 100 rounds per minute. Beam cannon at the bottom of the Gigalauncher also function as designators cum anti sensor glare device (?). Drill lance is a close combat weapon specially developed for the unit. As it hits the target, high speed rotation of the drill due to the rocket motors at the hilt causes it to penetrate further in. The drill then detaches from the handle and explodes. New drill can be fitted onto the handle for subsequent use. Technical data of the unit is stolen and deleted from ZAFT’s database by Terminal. It has been proposed that ZAFT reverse engineer the 2 prototype units to obtain the data but it is not implemented. There are rumors that its elimination is the work of members of Terminal who have infiltrated ZAFT. Although only 3 completed units appear at battle of Orb, it is unknown how many units are produced afterwards.

Providence ZAKU

A prototype unit built as part of ZAFT’s next generation MS development plan. As the hyper-deuterion nuclear reactor is against Junius Treaty, the ‘A’ suffix for nuclear powered MS is removed. Cables around the body of the ZAKU series contain part of the proactive armour system that is used against missile attacks (not sure if I translate this correctly). In this unit, they contain the nuclear reactor‘s cooling system and also the transmitter cum receiver for the DRAGOONs’ quantum communication system. GDU-X4 beam assault cannon used in Providence ZAKU is designed for physical attack. It is deployed in the battle of Messiah and gets into a fight with an Ootsukigata, the outcome of the fight is unknown but both pilots survived. The X3000 model number is discontinued after the MS development plan is updated. It is commonly thought that the change in name from ‘Providence’ to ‘Legend’ is due to Rau’s action, but this is denied by the authorities.

Gold Frame Amatsu Mina Custom (Okitsu-no-Kagami Equipment Type)

After making her speech in the aftermath of ‘Break the World’, Mina participated in numerous battles to protect those who agree with what she said. Due to these intense battles, Gold Frame accumulated lots of damage. Worried about the damages, Yoon Sefan created ‘Okitsu-no-Kagami’. The beam shield is derived from Hyperion gundam’s and can function as a beam blade, increasing its usability. The beam generating device is located at one end of the pole while the other end has 4 thrusters. When the thrusters are activated, the pole will accelerate forward, increasing the power of the beam blade and allowing it to have a greater reach. In addition, the beam generating device is connected to a cable, which is used to further extend its reach.

There are rumours that the first prototype MS completed in CE 65 is called ZAFT. As GuAIZ enters production, ZAFT obtained EA’s MS beam technology and GuAIZ’s shield is quickly modified to include beam claw. In order to mass produce GuAIZ, lots of its original design/specification is removed. One of the technologies that ZAFT obtained from EA’s gundam is high output generator. After the destruction of the 8th Fleet and winning the 2nd Battle of Victoria, Patrick Zala ordered the Integrated Design Bureau (created through the merger of 3 main design bureaus, Heinlein, Asimov, Clark, which took place during the development of GuAIZ) to develop newer, stronger MS. Weapon development is carried out by Maius Military Industries (MMI) and Martius Arsenals (MA). X09Aand X10A rollout in 71.04.04 and Patrick Zala name them ‘Justice’ and ‘Freedom’ respectively. It is commonly thought that Yzak is the designated pilot for Freedom. It is after Nicol’s death that his father, Yuri Amafi, decided to put N-Jammer Canceller into use. Development of Providence gundam is secretly progressing as NJC is put into use. The manual states that as EA’s MS development involve Coordinators from Orb and other places, these technologies may have originated from them. The shields of the GAT-X series uses resonance phenomenon (?) to bend beams while Freedom’s (and justice’s) shield uses a modified form of laminated armour. Development of the weapons and the main body of Freedom and Justice take place separately but occur at the same time as there are concerns that the units cannot power PS armour and its weapons concurrently. Development of the main body is the priority. NJC solve the problem and allows more weaponry to be put on Freedom. The first weapon to be considered for Freedom is “Balaena” plasma beam cannons, a powerful weapon that is previously labelled a failure as it consumes too much energy (GuAIZ EFT run out of power after 2 shots). However, a conflict between the MS developers and the weapon providers started as the former feels the cannons destroy the unit’s balance. Yuri Amafi intervenes and under his mediation the problem is solved by using the wings to ‘bind’ the cannon. The wings also serve as radiator fins. Before beam weapons are usable by MS, ZAFT considered making railgun the main weapon for MS due to its destructive power and rate of fire. ZAFT completed their first railgun, “Shiva”, after the 1st year of war as additional equipment for GINN. It is sent to Le Creuset’s team for testing. Although it perform well against the 8th Fleet, the gundams already provided ZAFT with MS beam technology, thus it fell out of favor. However the developer, MMI, vigorously promote it as an anti-ship weapon since it is common for ships to be equipped with laminate armour. In addition, it can fire at multiple targets continuously. MMI insisted on installing the railgun after it is contracted to develop part of Freedom’s weapon. There are records of weaponless GINN pulling out its damage arm to use as weapon. The Coordinators in MA felt humiliated by EA’s technology. The company carried out multiple improvements on BuCUE’s and GuAIZ’s beam blade. The output of “Lacerta” is higher than EA’s beam sabers.

The basic design is done by ZAFT’s Integrated Design Bureau but the data is stolen by Terminal, who modified, completed the design and produced it. Although the model number is the same as that of the original design, the completed product is vastly different. As Athrun is the pilot of Justice Gundam, ZAFT uses his combat data as the standard when designing X19A. Similarly, Terminal also uses his data when carrying out the final adjustment of the unit’s performance. This is advised by Kira Yamato, who provided guidance during the unit’s development. From the beginning, he took into account the combined usage of Infinite Justice and Strike Freedom. This is also partly because both units will be based on Eternal. Improvement in the vulcan’s ammunition causes it to have higher initial velocity, better armour piercing capability and friction is reduced due to a new coating. All these increase its stopping power by 25%. The ammo capacity increased by 20% as the ammunition is of a smaller size. Performance of the composite sensor on the head crest is greatly improved and the V-fin is shortened as a result. Only a small number of pilots can effectively use the beam blade on the legs and one of them is Athrun. Beginning with his piloting of Aegis Gundam, he is able to effectively use MS with special equipment in close combat. Thus, it is not much of a stretch to say that the beam blades are installed specially for his use. Compared to the beam blades on the wings, those on the legs is of an older version as the main body is designed earlier than the sub-flight lifter. Fatum-01 has higher mobility than Fatum-00 due to the new movable wings. Just like 00, 01 is capable of remote operation and has an AI system for independent operation. "Preface Lacerta" retracted short beam saber serve as auxiliary weapon and has the same purpose as "Super Lacerta" lifter tip beam saber, to be the focus point when Fatum-01 rams its target. The beam blade on the wing is of the same model as that on Gaia Gundam. Grapple Stinger on the shield can be used in multiple ways, e.g. ramming the target after shooting it out, capture the target using the pincer or tie the target with the cable. The beam carry shield is the latest version of beam shield, which is becoming standard MS defence equipment. By changing the shape of the shield, other weapons can be equipped. The beam boomerang has a different functioning principle from that of normal boomerang. It moves due to the interaction between the beam blade’s force field and the surrounding matter. This also allows it to move in space.
