As requested by calubin, here all the scans I managed to acquire from internet. Translations'd be appreciated!
Points of interest:
-Gelgoog J's Beam Spot Gun was always there, no recton
-Likewise, Rick Dom II's(0080) Beam Point
-Didn't know the Gazu L/R had an optional shoulder weapon bay(3 missiles, 4 mines)
-The Desert Zaku can use the Zaku Desert Type's Arm 3-Missile Pod and Waist 2-Missile Pod
-Phantom weapons/functions: The Nu Gundam Beam Rifle's Grenade Launcher and the Geara Doga Beam Machinegun Heat Bayonet. ARE THESE MADE UP?
-What's the difference between the 2 types of Geara Doga's Beam Machineguns?
-That Second V scans deserves a full translation!
-Some new lineart like the Gazu L arm beam saber storage and shoulder weapon bay

Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
But the accompanying caption says "A beam spot gun for close defense is in development, but it is currently not yet completed."balofo wrote:-Gelgoog J's Beam Spot Gun was always there, no recton
Likewise, the caption says "The armor was installed merely as decoration, but consideration is currently being given to adding missile launchers and minelayers to the internal dead space." So like the beam spot gun, this is being presented as a possible future option, not a current equipment item.-Didn't know the Gazu L/R had an optional shoulder weapon bay(3 missiles, 4 mines)
The team leader version has higher output and longer range. It doesn't seem to have the two extra rapid-fire barrels, though.-What's the difference between the 2 types of Geara Doga's Beam Machineguns?

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
Mind you that Gera Doga is the Kai version and not the standard model we see everywhere else.
While translations are always nice, I'm also quite interested in the 0080 style versions of the classic MS as well like the vanillia GM and Zaku II.

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
thanks for the translations mark, regarding the beam spot gun the retcon i meant was about the name being beam spot gun(i believe before they were called beam machineguns or something like that here at mahq).
Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
That was part of an MSV series in the 0080 model kits each kit included lineart for an alternate build you could modify the kit in to. They were Yutaka Izubuchi versions of the 0079 MS and for the Command space type he gave an light armor version of the GM command.Wingnut wrote:Mind you that Gera Doga is the Kai version and not the standard model we see everywhere else.

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
There's one thing that really stands out to me. The scans for the Psyco Gundam Mk-II show a closeup of its head, where you can see (written plainly in English) "<PSYCO-GUNDAM> MK-3". I'm kind of curious about this, if anyone can explain it.

Just what is that Geara Doga backpack? It certainly doesn't seem to be the Kai's backpack, what with lacking a proper extension on top. It looks like a mine layer...?
Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
indeed it is supposed to be a mine layer backpack, perhaps if the 2nd Neo Zeon War escalated...Cmdr Harabec wrote:Just what is that Geara Doga backpack? It certainly doesn't seem to be the Kai's backpack, what with lacking a proper extension on top. It looks like a mine layer...?

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
The AMS-119 use minelayer backpack can house 14 mines and it was planned to be used primarily in colony subjugating operations. Aside from this type, there are various other backpacks(for the Geara Doga).
The AMS-119S Geara Doga Kai, developed at the same time as the AMS-120 Geara Doga Psycommu Test Type, was a commander use high performance machine. While it uses a movable frame identical to that of the AMS-119, its armor material shifted to Gundarium, strengthening its durability by 40%. Its internal avionics are largely new and it yielded better data capturing abilities. However, as the Geara Doga Kai requires the major driving force of the Neo Zeon development team, given that the building of the Alpha Aizel has been decided, the mass production of this machine was halted and stayed as a protoype.
There is an extract at the end detailing the general history of the Geara Doga and it concludes by saying that the Geara Doga was reaching obsolescence and the military must switch to new models. As Neo Zeon opted for a short decisive battle/war, they placed resources on developing the Alpha Aziel and other New Type use machines, and not on mass production models.
The versatile Geara Doga was designed to be equipped with various weapons and backpacks to adopt to different types of missions.
Thinking that the Zeta model kits have no interesting information, I stumbled across a few lines regarding that the G-Defenser was also planned to be used on the Nemo, since it is a simple machine that could only function as a mobile suit. The G-Defenser basically gives mobile suits the ability to convert itself into a high speed craft in response to the emergence of Titans TMS and TMAs. This is also consistent with the HGUC GM III's mention on a backpack port to realise this potential, and in AOZ there were shield booster units for Nemos.
The Nemo apparently uses Gundairum Alpha for mass production and same goes with the Marasai, but for the latter case, it was in opposition to Gundarium Gamma to avoid the Titans from attaining the tech when the design was given.

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
The variations in the Gundam 0080 and Char's Counterattack kit manuals were actually by Hitoshi Fukuchi, working in an "Izubuchi-esque" style. Fukuchi went on to do designs for the Double Fake side story and, much later, the Gundam 00 series.JEFFPIATT wrote:That was part of an MSV series in the 0080 model kits each kit included lineart for an alternate build you could modify the kit in to. Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
I'm pretty sure that up to a certain point in time, the official information said that the Jaeger had machinecannons rather than beam spot guns. That's what Gundam Official has listed, at least. Of course, when it comes to the Jaeger, they flip-flop on pretty much every weapon aside from the beam machinegun. Some profiles say it has head vulcans, some don't; some say it has a beam saber, and some don't.

Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
Just the more interesting points:balofo wrote:Back with last batch!
Requesting translation on:
-whole Jadg Doga one, lots of cool info there like the option shield with incoms of the psycommu test type and its beam rifle
the caption:
AMS-120
-6 funnels stored in generators on the shoulders
-grenade launcher at the tip of the shield, beam saber on the underside
-Stomach scattering cannon, better fire power than MSN-03, worse in mobility
NZ-222
-6 funnels on waist armor (i think it's in addition the the 6 on the shoulder mounts)
-wired psycommu beam cannons on the shoulders
-smaller than NZ-333
The descriptions:
-Developed from Axis's last MS Geara Doga AMS-119
-Char, aiming for a short decisive battle, wanted to produce a small number of mass produced high performance general MS for the few newtypes including himself.
-Initially AMS-120 was produced basing on AMS-119's movable frame, equipped with psycommu and funnel, but the miniaturization of psycommu failed and the developed thereafter became dependent on AE.
-MSN-03 was developed from this prototype, but it's production stopped after 2 machines becuase it was still lacking as a Newtype MS, despite its excellent mobility, fire power and endurance. MSN-04 was designed from the knowledge gained in its development.
-NZ-222 was experimented during MSN-04's development. Despite having sufficient performance due to avoiding the need to miniaturize the psycommu with it's ample body, it was completed as the NZ-333 "one point assault" MA.
-Beam rifle: it has a grenade launcher instead of the beam shotgun on the Sazabi. Launcher has 5 shots.
-Option shield: 3 Incom, 4 mega particle gun, Income is controlled by psycommu. The advantage of Incom over funnel is that the control wave will be undetectable by newtype enemies, the disadvantage being the limited length of the cable. Incoms and funnels can't be used at the same time due to some problem with the psycommu system of the MS. Incoms were removed from the MSN-03.
-Funnels: basically describing what it is and that it is significantly better than the Gryps war funnels in mobility and fire power.
Nothing interesting about the beam saber and gatling.
Re: Old Gunpla's Manual Scans(pics inside)
thanks for the translations! Nice info on the Psycommu test type, I've never seen this info anywhere, I believe not even Mark Simmons knew . You can actually see Sazabi's style grey beam sabers inside the shoulder plates, and the grenade launcher seem to be the small yellow circle(one shot perhaps). I knew about the option shield and its incoms, but not this detailed info. These ZZ and CCA era manuals are a gold mine!
PS: the beam saber one appears to explains why it has a heat knife attached and it mentions a Thruster Unit, requesting translations
