Re: Primitive Machine
see what happens when you rely on watched threads t o keep you up to date with the artistic folks here; some one really amazing sneaks in and leaves a trail of awesome in their wake with you none the wiser.
my single previous post in this thread was lacking so I'll try to do better.
let me start with a fact: you kick ass. seriously.
your art style can be some what confusing to look at right away. but that's because of the way your lines and detailing merges together. it reminds me of some mecha art I saw a while back. I can't recall the artist name but I'm fairly sure he also made some gunpla both of which blew me away in regards to the style and complexity.
I'll start with the humans in your drawings
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... 9_6096.jpg
this guy could have benefited from more definition (and a face) but proportions and general ground work is very solid, probably one of best I've seen in regard to that.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/thedario/o.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... o/bora.jpg
These two armor/suit designs are interesting. I notice in both the torso seems to be a little over-sized but I'm unsure if that's because of the design elements of the armor or just plain mis-proportioning. Sera would probably tell you that the hands of "O.jpg" are a little on the small side but if the associated torso was smaller the hands wouldn't look as small.
on to your robots
I love how you're giving us so many WIP images of the "Improvisation Robot Design" I hope you apply some color to this guy when he's done as it will probably help the eye figure out what's what on the mecha's design. from what I can see and the crazy complexity it reminds me a bit of the transformers from the recent movies, which I have to say I like.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/thedario/566.jpg
This guy on the other hand is very clean looking and I find my self wishing you had completed the body. It's got a rather interesting chest and shoulder design and I like how the plating is clearly defined. I also have nothing but praises for your job shading this fellow, considering the staggering amount of raw line art we see here on mecha talk it's nice to run into shaded images like this one.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... sim2-1.jpg
This guy reminds me of a destriod from macross, probably due to the proportions more then anything else. and I have to hope those massive paludrons hold some sort of weapon system or shield generator. unfortunately I think the scan/picture quality really hurt this image.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/ ... /proto.jpg
I don't know why (which is bugging me) but I get a distinct zone of enders vibe from this guy. and I've got to ask what is that protruding from the bottom of his hand?
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v248/thedario/oat.jpg
the first thing I have to point out is that this guy is walking weird. he's leading with his right leg and foot something that is very uncommon to see IRL, mostly because it is harder to maintain balance in stride.

Wanna do a tutorial for the board? We can ask Chris to open a section of Mahq.net for "How to Draw Mecha Related Stuff".

Why would we need Chris to open a new section? that title sounds more like a topic then sub-forum and one that easily fits into the Art and Multimedia section. personally I'd like to see a thread dedicated to Tutorials. there's a number of 'mini' tutorials spread around in the various artist threads when people tried to help someone or explain how they do something.tehprognoob wrote:Wanna do a tutorial for the board?
