Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

So this what you meant by getting married Soul Bro :P
Taking time off for one of your big fighting game conventions (kidding)
Sounds like an interesting time had all in all and you also got to play Marvel vs Capcom 3 for a bit, sounds like it's being developed well so far.

As for fighting games or stuff along those lines, I'm more in to Tekken, Soul Calibur, Dead or Alive ect.

If I had to go in depth on a little of my game history I would do that more in a next post.
Let some other people put their replies in here.

My cousin had a friend who went to EVO and placed 4th in his bracket. Speaking of sportsmanship what's your feeling on rage quitting or people throwing down their sticks after a loss? I ask because of the infamous clip of JuiceBox when he bodied Scumbag after getting taunted. My cousin and I think there should be some sort of penalty for that.

Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

Hell yes, fighting games. You can tell from my avatar which game I'm a fan of. I absolutely adore Blazblue and Guilty Gear, those to me are the funnest fighting games around at the moment. With the Blazblue sequel coming out next week, you know I'm going to be on live alll the time next week I know your a fan of capcom Soul Bro, but arc system is the king of fighting games to me, although mvc 3 looks great. I'm a little surprised at all the hype that Super street fighter keeps getting, I find that game so damn boring.

You also seem to have a long history as a fighting game fan. I didn't really start playing until college. I joined an Anime club and they were playing GG I played and got destroyed. I'm a competitive person and tried to get good, the rest is history.

I'm jealous of you being able to go to EVO, I couldn't afford to go, but I plan to one day. Tournaments are fun, went to the Canadian fighting game championships did pretty good looking forward to next year.

Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

EVO and Vegas sound like they were awesome. I'm definately considering making the treck to EVO next year. Hearing you guys talk about the event, it sounds like they needed not just more volunteers, but more trained officals to mediate the event. I say they're gonna need it even more as EVO gets more popular.

As for the stream, the quality wasn't very good at first but it improved over time. The crashes were unfortunate, but I say it doesn't justify the hate that was being spued at LevelUp.(LevelUp even admited early on that they didn't have much experience with stickcam) When Nick lost on the stream everyone in the chatbox and I were pissed. I didn't even know you could use the mini boss characters in tournaments. Thats like allowing people to play as Onslaught in Xmen vs Street Fighter! Also I feel Adam Sessler was holding Seth back a little bit.

As I watched the SSIV finals I could feel the tension from all the way home here in Orlando. I was standing up and yelling at the screen as if I was watching the SuperBowl or World Cup, so I bet being there must have been fenominal. I was rooting for Gamerbee and Vangief the whole time, though none of them got as far as I wanted them too.

Soul Bro I appeciate the shout out, and I'm glad I wasn't demoted to "My Man" status XD Speaking of shout outs, shout out to Nick for reppin Cody at EVO; its a shame that turbo wielding bastard took advantage of the judges being too busy to be useful.

I thank you guys for telling us your tales of EVO2010, and I'd love to hear more of your fighting game experiences in the future.

Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

great show Soul Bro, Nick

I have a fond memory of SSF 2 of my middle school days I still remember, in a local arcade they had hooked up 6 machines in a tournament mode and a freind and I joined 10 others in a short 3 round tourney. I had played the as a causel fan but very rarely, I ended up winning the mini tournament and I still remember all these years later.

I really got into the genre with Marvel vs Capcom 2 on the Sega Dreamcast........oh the hours of time spent on that machine with my freinds. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for the Dreamcast becasuse of that game.

I'm glad you all had fun in Vegas...............as long as you did have TOO much fun..........if ya know what I mean

Oh and Soul Bro I have no idea who you are in the picture...........thats kinda of weird I have known you for over a year and I have absoulty no I idea what you look like, well thats the internet generation for ya.

Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

Great show, that CVS2 story was awesome. Waayyy more awesome than my CVS2 story (What, this game has Kyosuke in it? Rival Schoooools!) I've done a bit of DC burning in my day too, like when Game Stop sold me the broken copy of MVC2, or when I ordered 3rd Strike off ebay and got W Impact  It was great to hear all the stories, including the whole tournament fiasco. SoulBroRose ftw? The gamer-beef thing is a little awkward to hear about, I've seen people get pissed, but in the end most people will respect an opponent that can give them a good match.

I like fighting games, (I mean, it's unlimited replay value!) but the only thing I really play pro is Tekken. I still love my KOF though, just got started on it too late to ever have a chance against a real player.

One last thing, an awesome fighting game for beginners (of either 2D or 3D games) is Rival Schools for PSX and Project Justice for DC. Like MVC2 it can be pretty fun for people who don't usually play fighters, but it also has a really structured system that can help people transition into any KOF or SFIII/IV.

Re: Special 010 - Gundamn! @ Evo 2010!

Enjoyed the fighting games segment, even though I play very few video games, and what I do play are generally RPGs (the only fighting games I've played remotely seriously are Dead or Alive and Soul Calibur). One of my friends is really into them, though.

I was in Vegas last September, with my dad, his wife, and two of my half-sisters. Yeah, not really a family-friendly place. Although at least having a 5- and 8-year-old with us prevented people from handing the porn stuff to us (and I'm happy that they were probably too young to get the entendres in that pirate show we saw).

Some info on Gamerbee:

Before playing in the EVO, he was given a tip that there was going to be much Rufus in America, which is why he's so well-practiced against them.

After Saturday night, there was a high-rollers tournament with a total prize of $3,200. Gamerbee won, beating Marn in the finals.

He regularly plays against Daigo online.

He's 31 (Random, but he does not look like it. Them asian blood)

I forgot to comment. This was a very good ep as it very old school for me, it feel like another ep of Filp the Script.

Ok,

on to the next in line, SBR's honeymoon in Vegas, baby, Vegas!

I do have fond memories of the Street Fighter series, man, when you lived in Taiwan, that is totally different from the US here. Guess what SFII I was playing for the first time? The bootleg series, that had fireballs and sonic boom flying all over the screen! And IIRC, Capcom did incorporate that for SFII Championship edition, right? And yes, the Chun-li's shower scene!!! I saw that in Taiwan, at least a full year before American guys saw it. Guess what!? I saw both the bootleg copy and the national TV broadcasting of Street Fighter, and which has the "service"? Street Fighter raised the bar for me on fighting games, as I HATE the Mortal Kombat series, you do have to respect the players that stay claim in those big tournament. Gotta be honest after the PS era, I lost the love for SF, and dwell on Tekken and Soul series, didn't bother giving another fighters a chance (GG, Bloody Roar).

After playing Tekken 4 on, and after SC3, I have doubts on the direction of those series going, I didn't even bother to pick up SC4 & T6 for my PS3. I actually pick up BB and SSFIV, and I ebayed SFIII: 3rdStrk for my Dreamcast!

Well he did gain a 5-min fame with the Taiwanese news media, as they reported that he was the first Taiwanese to make it in the top 8 spots in EVO.

As for gaming competition, I do understand your feelings, no one should ever CHEAT! I do say referees/umpires should exam each player before any match, to see no outside couching, no button moding, and in fact I do support a closed space for only the players. But that may mess things way too much.

SBR, planning to come back to EVO for 1st yr anniversary?
How much better is being a Creepy Bishonen compared to an AEUG slapping boy?
