Lady Dodgeson

"..speaking of which whats the status of our units up ahead?"

"Last I checked there were two of our units in the area but I think they are the only ones, I'm the last of my squad." Though her emotional walls held fast, she still sounded bitter, "Here," she handed him the entire 120, "It was Bonito's but you will need it, I believe that there are still six of them; but beware, some are quite skilled. I will try to send the others to aid you in the meanwhile." Her voice then suddenly changed as if in reminisce of her first tryst, "Oh, and if you find the She-Wolf tell her that the Cheshire Cat sends her love." Then her voice dropped dangerously and you could practically hear the evil smile over the radio, "Then I suggest you run.."
And with that she rounded the corner and was gone.

- Control Room –

As Eric sped into the Control Room and assaulted the bumbling Pawn; Leikar followed suit. He sped in with his small shield over his chest and his 90mm crooked into his elbow. Following Eric in, Leikar could not help but note with wry irony that he was next to useless; if he attacked the Callow brother at this range he would risk harming Eric just as much, and while he could care less for the man he wouldn’t need any investigations into his actions. Speeding off to the side Leikar leveled his gun and started watching the entrance corridors for enemy reinforcements. As his eyes darted between the entrance corridor and the fight right in front of him he mumbled something about the unnecessary destruction of such a fine resource satellite.

"Oh, and if you find the She-Wolf tell her that the Cheshire Cat sends her love....Then I suggest you run.."

Bohemund nearely smirked at that comment, "i'll keep that in mind" he replied as he looked at the extra 120 he was given. "Don't bother sending reinforcements, i'm only here to collect my charges. as far as i'm concerned Cluster 20 is lost." he added as Lady dodgeson rounded the corner. machine gun in each hand bohemund continued through the corridor Dodgeson had come from, keeping the left side of the pawn as close to the wall as possible, before long he found himself with visual distance of cecil just in time to see an enemy raptor try to roast him with its thrusters, another raptor standing nearby and a pawn laying on the ground. with a groan he trained his weapons on the two raptors.
"Ensigns Callow, Get your arses off the ground and fall back to the Edith at once." he ordered, the tone in his voice making it obvious he wasn't in the mood for excuses or complaints.

----

Stopping in the corridor Jane waited tensely for a reply from either of her two teammates, her agitation rising with each second. Why won't they respond? its obvious i can get a signal through, crapcrapcrapcrapcrap. she continued her run down the corridor
"C'mon say something! i know you guys can hear me, so why won't you just resp-"

a massive explosion rocked the bowels of the satelite as the empty raptor exploded. the extra ammunition still in it cooking off spectactulary underground the area closest to the raptors foot caved in as the shockwave reverberated and was carried down the hall, sweeping jane off her feat and sending her flying all the way down the end, with a scream she hit the wall at the end hard, yelling out in pain as she struck the steel plating shoulder first and landing in a heap on the ground, mewling in agony.

The Baron, dressed in a velvet robe, is resting on a luxurious beach chair sipping tea from the finest porcelain china. He stares at the mechanics and techs reloading their suits, which are still in pristine condition and shudders at the thought of being born like one of those peons. Thank the heavens mother was wise enough to open her legs to the right man

Meier was standing beside the Baron holding a sterling silver tray with a pot of tea. He kept himself composed by mentally repeating to himself over and over-- I made an oath to the King..I made
So far as the eyes and ears of the King of Bavaria he has observed absolutely nothing. Whenever something comes up the Baron sends him out on demeaning errands or completing ridiculous tasks.

Stefan Bäcker walks in and gives a smirk to Meier, he's struggling from bursting into laughter but composes himself when addressing the Baron. "That message was sent for ahh..the desperate need for more wool socks, my lord."
"Oh yes, good" the Baron replies and takes another sip while Meier quietly stands with more tea on hand.

"Oh balls!" Max yelled as he saw an explosion come from a near by pile of rubble. He closed his cockpit, but not before a piece of shrapnel sliced him in the side. "*****!" And to make matters worse, came to blow back from the explosion itself. The Raptor was mostly intact, though he'd half to take a minute to apply a bandage before checking for survivors or a black box.

Catherine dragged her Pawn up the ramp and into its berth with 9% power to spare. It was very sorry looking in comparison to the stately Pawn's of the Bavarians opposite her. She had to kick the outer hatch open since it wouldn't engage properly and hailed the chief technician. "We may have to replace the leg and outer skirt," He called.
"Never mind that for now," she called back and typed in a few commands to show the captured plasma saber, "I need you to run an analysis on this."
"Is that what I think it is?"he asked, and Cat simply gave him a feline grin in reply which elicited a long slow whistle of admiration from the chief tech.
"Ye-Haw! Hey boys, get that thing secured, we got some real work now!
"They don't seem to work well with our machines, if at all possible could you figure out how to make it work properly? In fact I'll volunteer mine for testing," Cat purred with a wink.
"Miss, you keep this thing in our possession and I'll guarantee it."
Catherine thanked the man with a Texan accent and grinning madly made her way to the hanger floor where she spied the Barron and his underlings.
She walked over to Meier and whispered in an undertone as she poured a measure of tea into a china cup, "Your poker face is slipping Sir Knight, let me help." She then addressed Von Kappelhoff in a normal teatime conversational voice, "Tell me Barron, however do you keep you suit so pristine? Mine looks dreadful by comparison; One would think that you had never even been in combat from the way it shines so." She flashed Meier an all knowing grin that the Barron couldn't see as she busied herself with the sugar.

A corridor

Donovan's thrusters were near overheating now, but he had managed to shove his Raptor upright and Cecil away, even with the Pawn on top of him. God, where was everyone? Was he cut off? The damage indicators washed his cockpit in red, a bloodbath of light. He angrily wiped at the blood on his face. Dammit.

Donovan stumbled his Raptor back a few steps, fearing that he would be targeted by other enemies while his sensors came back online. Grabbing his spare clip, he slammed it home while his launcher was still in its back mount, then disengaged it and swung the launcher to bear with his functioning left hand. The sensor screen on his console sparked and then came to life, showing a few dots in the vicinity. Cecil was still a red dot, there was a green dot somewhere behind him, and...

Suddenly, the entire station shook as there was a massive explosion nearby. Donovan threw his Raptor's right arm out to brace the wall, further mangling the destroyed hand but keeping him upright. Just then, he noticed another red dot on his screen. He quickly moved to put Cecil between himself and the newcomer. Broadcasting to the Welshman, "Ah, I see you tink you need backup to handle a mere commoner, eh Callow? What a shame..."

Re: Stage 2: Ambush!

Outside the 1F Control Room

Just when Cecil thought he had wrangled and threatened his Pawn into standing itself up, a flash from behind him buzzed past in the direction of the control room and he found that the back of his mech's right ankle had been neatly slashed with a plasma saber. The Pawn momentarily fell back into a heap because that ankle had been trying to support the suit as it attempted to get the other leg in a position to stand. Hydraulic fluid gushed from some severed connection in the joint, bringing up an image of the damage on Cecil's forward monitor. "I'm bleeding!" Cecil squealed, gripping his flight suit's collar with a gasp at the sight of the red fluid. After a moment he realized it was his suit instead of him that had been damaged, and he decided to make the warning go away and ignore it out of irritation.

"Cellow? I'fe never heard of ze Cellows. Zat must be one of de more minor families, ya?" a voice crackled into his ears. That of course made Cecil lose his concentration again as he let out another gasp, this one to indicate Donovan's assumption was a grievous affront to decency. "I'll have you know, you vulgar oaf, that the Callow family is quite successful and well to do! Why, my Aunt Camille alone is--" he began to babble, ready to defend what honor his family name still had left. "Ensigns Callow, Get your arses off the ground and fall back to the Edith at once," Bohemund's voice boomed across the radio, interrupting Cecil. To make things worse, Donovan used the moment of appalled silence to rise to his feet and escape Cecil's "tackle".

"Ah, I see you tink you need backup to handle a mere commoner, eh Callow? What a shame..." Donovan said, causing Cecil's face to turn a deep crimson. "I...! You! How dare you! I demand satisfaction!" he yelled, forcing his Pawn to try to stand again. The warning screen popped back up, this time with a bright red command prompt asking if he wanted to divert control of the ankle to regain emergency function. "Yes," he said to the computer when he realized it wanted an answer. When nothing happened, he yelled "YES!". Forcing the Pawn to move answered the command instead, and the mech gained enough stability to rock to its feet in a shaky stance. "Baron Bohemund, your Lordship, I was just about to finish off this sluggard!" he quickly reported as he tried to step closer to the Raptor.

The Pawn's ankle and battery, however, were not in a condition to cooperate. The computer began to pester him immediately upon taking a step. Battery reserve at 9%. Ankle integrity almost compromised. "Curse my luck!" Cecil whined, holding up from his brave charge(?) at Donovan. It looked like he'd have to obey Bohemund's orders immediately for once.

Meier bowed slightly as Lady Catherine approached and helped herself to the Baron's tea. He revealed a small grin at her remark.
The Baron on the other hand frowned even more when the peaceful silence was so rudely interrupted. The audacity of this woman!

Without taking his eyes off the techs working on his pawn he responds at the brash woman. "Really my dear, if you paid more attention improving your combat skill than on your lovely talons then you would have come back victorious, I'm sure." Rolling his eyes, the Baron takes another small sip but continues to lecture this impudent noble.

"Just my small group alone repelled their cruiser-class vessel and secured the hanger while everyone was running about. Why, I personally downed two raptors without any help or damage taken. Now why don't you run along and take the recordings from my pawn and study my ingenuity on the battlefield."

The Baron looks away from the dreary hanger and mutters in a depressed tone, "My opiates better be on the next supply ship...this place is just intolerable."

Re: Stage 2: Ambush!

Percival managed to get the override to work on his Pawn's damaged knee. For the most part because he simply hit the "yes" option on every command prompt that came up. The technicians would likely have a devil of a time sorting out everything he'd activated and deactivated in his machine.

The bypass left his machine with a stiff legged posture and a limp, but he attempted as much dignity as he could muster even in such a damaged state. Given that his gun was out of ammunition, he drew his sword once more, perhaps the most tactically sound move he's made in the entire battle.

"Why I never! Do you hear him, Cecil?" he questioned as Bohemund's order reached him. "What makes him think that he can order us around?"

He then noticed the two Raptors nearby and the rather large explosion that just occurred in much too close a proximity for his tastes.

"Then again...perhaps a tactical withdrawal IS in order," he continued. Donovan wouldn't have too much trouble keeping Cecil's pawn between him and Percival's, sinc Percival maneuvered his frame to do the same thing. So that Cecil could have the glory of facing his enemy in single combat, of course.

He began to back down the hall, the right foot of his frame dragging with each step as he limped away from the battle.
Yep...That's Texas in a nutshell. Why just say "f**k you" when you can put it on a flag?

"They are lovely aren't they?" Catherine replied in a dreamy voice and admired her garishly painted and pointed nails. She cast her eyes sharply onto the floor as the tremor from the blast in the control center reverberated, then flicked them to the rippling tea in her rock-steady hand to verify as her face grew hard. The sharp contrast from her former demeanor could almost chill the tea she held. She looked up to Meier, who was probably the only other in present company who would immediately understand the ramifications of the mini-quake. "Ditch the tray Sir Knight, we may have not much time. Start to secure for immediate departure, I would expect the order to be issued soon. However, Bohemund and his motley are still out there, so keep at least one unit on standby, I would do it so myself but I seem to be lacking 'combat skill.'"

groggy and disorientated with her vision blurry and swimming all over the place, jane tried to pick herself up off of the ground, ultimately only succeeding in proping herself against the wall, white hot pain lanced through her legs, arm and torso.

"*cough*..dammit...*cough*" she wheezed, running her left hand along her right arm, unable to feel any breaks she guessed that it must've been dislocated, when her vision started to clear she looked down, noticing several cuts along her legs...and a large piece of shrapnel sticking out of her midsection, her eyes widened but she somehow managed to hold her composure, she reached for the survival pack, opening it and pulling out the single compress it came with and a roll of duct tape, carefully she pulled out the piece of shrapnel and whacked the compress on, she pulled at the duct tape with her teeth and smoothed it onto her flight suit, rolling it around her waist until the compress was tight against the injury and secure, repeating the process with the duct tape for the cuts on her legs. she rummaged through the pack and pulled out a syringe and a box of painkillers, injecting herself with its contents before throwing the syringe away and taking 5 of the tablets with a swig of water from the small canteen supplied in the pack, slowly feeling the pain subside, she counted her remaining first aid items.
" 8 tablets and two syringes" she muttered to herself "enough for 5 days, i'll use it in an hour if i have to." looking around once more she came across her sidearm and recovered it, before fumbling with her radio

"you guys still alive out there?" she asked, her voice sounding very gravelly. "some help would be really nice right about now...*cough*"

Bohemund rolled his eye at his subordinate antics, the pair having the audacity to question his authority, before he could retort an explosion rocked the station, to which percival immediately changed his tune.

"Then again...perhaps a tactical withdrawal IS in order," he heard percival say, he did not know what about that sentence with irked him but it combined with all the other events of the day combined to gether to the point that something just...snapped.

"YOUR DAMN RIGHT IT IS IN ORDER!" he bellowed into the radio "AND I CAN ORDER YOU AROUND BECAUSE I'M YOUR SUPERIOR!! NOW GET. MOVING!! BEFORE I SHOOT THE PAIR OF YOU FOR INSUBORDINATION RIGHT HERE!!!" to illustrate his point he trained one of his 120mm machine guns on percivals unit. with a grunt he contacted the Edith

"Ensigns callow will be returning immediately, have a security detail ready to escort them to their quarters where they will be held until my return, also have the combat recordings from their pawns downloaded and ready on my desk."

While in mid-sip the Baron answers Catherine without spilling any tea, "Yes. You're quite right my dear. Roaches are considerably hard to stamp out." The Baron overlooks Meier and focuses on the younger pilot, Bäcker, "You heard the..Lady. Prep your suit for immediate deployment."

Pulling out a silk handkerchief from within his sleeve, the Baron wipes his brow. "Tsk. I'm afraid today's heroics have completely worn me out. O' such is the life of a warrior. I'll just simply have to remain here in reserve while I regain my strength." The Baron starts to fan himself while giving Meier a glare. Amazingly, Meier's small grin earlier didn't go unnoticed.

"Knight. Go to my room and fetch me some crumpets. I'll need nourishment if I'm supposed to once again defeat the lunar fiends single-handedly." Without a single word an angered Meier makes an about face and marches toward the exit silver platter and all.

Re: Stage 2: Ambush!

--Control Room--

Timing was everything, and yet Eric couldn't help but feel that they were having their worst luck with it. Not long after charging into the control room, an explosion caught him off-guard and knocked his Raptor off its feet. The blast sent it sprawling towards the remains of the damaged sentry gun.

The impact from the rough landing shook him up a bit, and the explosion itself damaged many of the secondary cameras on his machine. Eric let out an audible grunt, frustrated and somewhat surprised that the Dominion would rig their own control room with a bomb.

"You guys still alive out there?" Jane asked through the radio, her voice sounding very gravelly. "Some help would be really nice right about now..."

"Leikar, go find Jane," Eric ordered, unsure if Beta Team's pilot managed to get away from the blast unscathed. "I'll start up the necessary procedures to take complete control of the satellite's defense system and drive out the Dominion. Cluster-20 is ours."

Eric then pulls out some computer equipment and steps out of his damaged Raptor. It he took a moment to survey the damage. The cracked visor explained the camera issue, and much of the shield was blown off. The whole left side of the machine was charred and blackened. It wasn't in the worst shape, but it has definitely had better days.

"The chief isn't going to like this..." he grumbled as he stepped towards the nearest control panel.

Cat watched poor Knight go sipping her tea without comment, but when Meier had left the hanger she turned and spoke to the Barron, "You really should stop hold him at arms length, Its obvious that he's here to observe you for whatever reason. Pushing him away just makes you look like you have something to hide that much more to men like him, and they will keep sniffing until they find something, even if it doesn't exist." She gave the Barron a wicked smile, "So, you should give him a crumb trail that leads elsewhere in the opposite direction, and to his discredit, but do make him feel clever about how he picked up the trail, else he know it false. After though, you can relax a bit without worrying much about what he'll find off chasing a dead end, and he will be much more pleasant to be around in the meanwhile." she proffered taking another sip.

Leikar had managed to survive the blast relatively unscathed. His shield had been between himself and the primary source of the explosion. Still his Raptor had suffered some damage, his left screen had blown, and his Raptor was scorched and peppered with shrapnel. Acknowledging the order, he made his started to make his way through the debris from the explosion. Flipping on his auxiliary lights he swept across the debris. Tsking audibily, for all the unnecessary damage caused to the resource satellite he moved deliberately through the wreckage. To be honest, he wasn’t particularly paying attention to what he was doing; someone else should have been locating the chit who had gotten herself downed. It was almost a mistake when he noticed Jane in the corner of one of his cameras.

Moving deliberately over to avoid much of the destroyed Raptor, a sight which made him further infuriated that he was assigned this task, he came to a stop over the downed pilot. He couldn’t see much but it was clear she was wounded, the severity of it didn’t look terrible but he would likely have to transport her to a medical station immediately. Setting his firearm down, he brought his Raptor into a crouch over Jane and opened the hatch. Unbuckling himself from his harness he leaned forward and shouted down to her, “You need any assistance down there?”

bleary eyed, jane looked around for the scource of the voice, fighting the urge to scream 'no, everything is peachy, i'm only lying here cos i felt like taking a rest.' at the person who said it, dimly becoming aware that the maintenece tunnel cieling was gone completely and that a raptor was kneeling in front of her.

"yeah..." she called out, "some assistance would be appreciated"

OOC: Sorry for the lateness, but I'm finally gonna wrap this up. The end will have to come in the form of several posts though. Prepare to move on to the next chapter, but feel free to finish up in here until the new threads are posted.

Eric tapped away at his computer as he attempted to hack into the security system. He slowly gained full control of Cluster-20, and the drones began to attack any remaining Dominion forces still fighting within the base.

While the final set of commands processed, Eric took the time to establish contact with the Tulsa. From that he learned that their mobile frame squad had been completely wiped out in the battle down at the hangar. The Darkvasser's teams lucked out by taking the infiltration task.

Within a few minutes, Eric finally had complete control of the base. He then broadcast the following message to the Dominion ships:

"The Lunar Protectorate has taken control of this satellite. Surrender and you'll be taken in as POW's, but remain unharmed. Resist, and we'll have little choice but to finish off what we came to do..."
