Gameplay Thread

So my capture device just came in the mail yesterday (an Easycap). Been going a little crazy with it. The dumb part is that the cables I bought for the setup cost more than twice as much as the Easycap.... It's just too bad that my computer is older than youtube, so I can't produce very high quality picture. At least the framerate is decent. (I also really suck with these video editing programs.) >_>

I'm making this thread for anybody to post, though I'll be personally archiving my videos into the top post. And I suppose not everyone will have a capture device, so I think it'd be perfectly fine to just post gameplay that you find to be really interesting and not necessarily something that you film yourself. =)

And now...

ACfA: The Introduction. Have the volume up for this one. =)

StrayedG at Carpals. I love this song. ^_^ This is the schematic that VR raped when we were at the Cradles. As you see, it can have some energy management problems in the air and over water.

Captured on film: The God of QB Chaining. (This was what I was talking about earlier in the fA thread.)

Footage of me antagonizing a large, angry animal. =)

I was going to make another one, but I forgot I lent that certain game to my sister. =/ Anyhow, enjoy, comment/rate/flame at your own leisure. =o

And I thought I had too much time on my hands, geez. Makes me want a PS3 and AC:4A for it even more so I can go up against you and the others. Really liked the music from the second video, need to find it. D:

Well I am on spring break, thank you kindly! :P I'm leaving town tomorrow though, so no new ones for some time. I was thinking of maybe doing some requests, or maybe strategy guides or something, but that probably needs to wait for me to get a better computer.

The first song is called Byakko No (Paprika version), and the second one that filled in was Ou Mono. I have no idea what they mean, and something makes me doubt that the vocals are Japanese. One line even sounds Vietnamese to me! They're both from the Paprika OST, and Byakko No was actually the ending theme for the movie. It's a full vocal version of the main theme, and I happen to think it's highly superior. The OST as a whole isn't really meant to be listening music though. =p You also need to see Paprika, because it's awesome. :P

I wonder what I should film next: Gaplant and Super Gundam ownage in GvsZG? Machinegun rape in AC:SL and LR? My crappy combo work in Tales of the Abyss? Or maybe me wailing on Anubis and some battleships in ZOE2? =) I could record some stuff from ACE2 if I still had my ps2.... I can also technically record clips of blurays and DVDs, but let's not go that route.

Re: Gameplay Thread

I have the feeling that I'll be doubleposting here a lot. ~_~

Among the various ways of fighting White Glint:
Order Matches - Unknown, White Glint plus some random stuff.
Defeat White Glint (normal)

Order Matches: Which rank 2 did you mean??

I used a low-spec version of Strayed for these. It's only tuned for EN stats and turning. Had a hard time locking on without Inblue.

Support the Red Beret Assault
Making escort missions awesome. Anyone who can guess where the reference comes from before the video ends gets a cookie. =3

Doing it the hard way: Defeat Unidentified AF
Sol Dios cannons!

Rockets are for breaking Arms Forts. Giga Base, Motherwill, Stigro, Sol Dios crab, and Answerer included.

Occupation of Arteria Carpals (normal).
Wanted to try the mission with a schematic outside of my play style. Spent half the time chasing Otsdarva and Wynne D. >_>

Sorry about all the breakbeat/trance music. I'll use more metal/rock next time. =o I think that should pretty much finish all the offline stuff I wanted to do. The next installment will be online matches, if I can ever get around to it. I can record some matches for Mechatalk players, but it kinda bites since you can only see from my POV.

Re: Gameplay Thread

Might as well use this thread.

This was a (probably 3 or 4 year old) recording I did that I dug up from my old hard drive. Might as well share it.

This was actually a pretty fun game, probably the best FMA game I've played. Wasn't perfect though--the environments are boring and a lot of the enemies are recolours of other enemies. It would have been nice had they continued this series and addressed those problems.

Fullmetal Alchemist 3: Kami wo Tsugu Shoujo
  • Tag Battle: Fullmetal Tag Match
    1P: Edward Elric (me)
2P: Alex-Louis Armstrong (some other guy)
    Precondition: Alchemist Rank S
part 1 part 2 part 3

If you find most of the fights boring, skip right to part 3.

Re: Gameplay Thread

The game looks kinda spammy, VR, but how else do you ever get an Srank in any game? =p

As stated before, the entries here don't have to be exclusively filmed by you, so here are some of my favorites:

Combo videos-
The Elysium
Redemption
These two I like mostly for the music. I mean, I'm nowhere near that good, but the combos were kinda spammy.
The Elohim part 1
The Elohim part 2
Elegant is the only way to describe those combos. And also, holy shit.

Suck on THIS, Wesker!!

I can't wait to use Epyon in NEXT. And I can't wait to do this specifically.

Saito is one of my favorite ACfa posters. He always uses interesting schematics and music.

All a little much, I know. >.>

Re: Gameplay Thread

VR likes to kick people when they're down, huh? :P

ACfA: Attack Arteria Cranium (normal) no damage, Kamal and Sampaguita.
Because sometimes people don't believe me. =p I didn't realize until I watched this again recently that I shot down both of them in under a minute. And yes, I ALSO freaked out when I drifted right underneath that stream of gatling bullets. I love these shot/slug guns, but they don't do so great online due to all the lag. I just use them anyway 'cause it's fun.

ACfA: QB practice wasted
This file was really big, so youtube sorta glitched and didn't accept any of the information I wrote for it. That's why you see all the "related videos" as football things. QB practice. Get it?? >_>; Anyway, this is just a video of me screwin' around, so just chill and enjoy the nice music. And perhaps I'm halfway decend in ACfA because I actually do spend a lot of time screwing around like this.

DMC3: Mission 20 (normal) RoyalGuard, SS rank
Watch me get wailed on for two minutes. Counters are perhaps my favorite thing about fighting. You know, despite how much I play DMC3 and 4, I find that I'm still rather bad at it. How the hell do those guys on youtube do it? Anyway, I recently just SSSranked mission 19 in DMC4 in Dante Must Die mode. And I also did the same for mission 20 in all the difficulties.

Yeah, so that's everything I had finished before my computer died but never got to link to here. I'll work on a bunch more as soon as I find the time. I have my new computer, and I'll be getting new editing software, so hopefully everything is better from now on. And my video card has this hdmi slot, so maybe I can figure how to record in HD, too.

My birthday is on monday. Maybe you jerks could stand to do something nice and leave some input in any one of my three neglected threads. Hahaha. =p

Re: Gameplay Thread

Okay, here's absolutely everything I recorded before the computer went down. I haven't made any new recordings yet. Because the new machine is good at rendering, all of these can be viewed in HQ or HD. They look pretty crisp to me, maybe because of my video card, but I noticed that the videos looked kinda muddy on a different computer. How do they look to you guys??

ACfA:
Quickboost Demo/Tutorial

Under the Foot of Motherwill

The Ugliest NEXT You'll Ever See

Rockets! Defeat the 8th Fleet

Ordered Matches: Takufumi Arisawa (VS Rex)

Defeat Unidentified NEXT (normal, using Mack). This is my HeavyWeight RJ. He's awesome. =p

Attack Arterial Cranium (HARD, using Strayed)

Attack Anti-Satellite Cannons (HARD, using Strayed)

Defeat Unidentified NEXT + No Count (HARD, using StrayedX)

Using faster laser blades demo

DMC3:
Mission 20, normal, Royal Guard again. (Did better with the sword blocks this time around.)

x,x

Let me know what you think.

By the way, do you guys know why my videos have a black border around them instead of filling up the whole window on there??

How to be a jerk in ZOE2, part 1
part 2
part 3
part 4
part 5

'Cause when Seraph takes out a fleet of battleships, he takes it good and slow.

Fail.

Some dog chewed through one of my AV cables, so don't think you're crazy when you only have sound in one speaker. -_-;

And this isn't me, but witness in awe as the Epyon owns the living shit out of EVERYBODY. Even Psycho Gundam and S.Freedom! You can find the whole sequence in 'related videos' on the right. It gets better with each one. And why does he keep smacking Char around like that?

Re: Gameplay Thread

I'll have to get one of these Easycap setups. I did a few vids before with just a camera on the TV. How bad are the file sizes? Whats the output resolution/quality?

I've been using remote joy for the PSP and having mostly good results. Although it lags sometimes.

Re: Gameplay Thread

Another poster! Thank god. T_T That was a great recording, too. I love vulcans. =)

I think my longest recording for the EasyCap was almost 8min, and it turned out to be 115MB. I have a couple of raw files uploaded: ps3 example, ps2 example.

The recordings can change their resolution and aspect ratios. The software that comes with the EasyCap is a little sh*tty though. WARNING: the driver for the EasyCap may have problems on anything newer than WinXP. I'm using Vista64bit, and it doesn't pick up sound. I had to actually go and get a different capture device altogether because I couldn't find a fix. (A Pinnacle studio mobieBox with a built in splitter. I don't know why yet, but the raw recordings for this thing are friggin' huge in size.)

The EasyCap at least seems to get a really good frame rate, and I'm happy with that.

I usually don't upload raw recordings though. If you render your videos in HD resolution, it tends to be better. (Example. Sorry, I didn't know I had those black bars at the top and bottom.) That all depends on your computer's processing power. I recommend using a different video editor for editing videos and rendering. I use Vegas 7 now.

When using a capture device, I recommend splitting your console's AV cable output to the capture device and to your TV. That way, you can play on a large screen and record at the same time. You do get a preview window on your computer, but it's small and lags very slightly.

I can't really use my EasyCap on this computer anymore, so I can mail this thing to whoever wants it, lol. I'll even include the software and my AV cable splitters since I don't need them anymore. =o That's if one of my friends doesn't ask for them first.

Just keep in mind, all these capture devices use AV cables and S-video cables. I don't think anyone has developed one that accepts HDMI yet. =/

Re: Gameplay Thread

Thanks, vulcans can be really useful at times.

I kind of figured there wouldn't be anything HDMI capable available and even if there was it would probably be outrageously priced for quite some time :P I guess I'll have to start more thoroughly exploring my options based on your info/experience. I guess I can finally get around to making all those gameplay videos I've always kind of wanted to do now that I can see it's a fairly easy prospect.

Re: Gameplay Thread

Does anyone know any easy ways to take hi-res screenshots? I've been wanting to get the lineart off from the Rev. disc from AC Nexus. My old capture device took crappy pictures, and my new one apparently doesn't even have the function! -_-;

Anyway, some new videos recorded using my new movieBox:

ACfA: Strayed, Occupation of Arteria Carpals (HARD)

The classical music makes me a magnificent bastard. =o

ACfA: RyxG, Occupation of Arteria Carpals (HARD)

Wanted to see if my friend's schematic could beat the mission. Apparently it can, but only by the skin of its teeth....

Strayed, Defend Cradle 03 (normal)

Good music, lol. Proving again that my schematics can't do squat in midair dog fights.

Strayed, Defeat Answerer (normal)

How to use your hangar blade to get around. Also shows how to disable Answerer. Works in both difficulties.

Strayed, Defeat AF Giga Base (normal)

Killin' AFs Rambo style.

Strayed, Defeat the 8th Fleet (HARD)

Killin' fleets Rambo style. ...plus Stigro. The music sounds like it'd fit Ghost in the Shell pretty well, doesn't it?

Ordered Matches: Strayed VS Takufumi Arisawa

Hangar blade + MG combo VS a tank.

The God of QB Chaining, redux~

Now with time effects to reeeaaally soak it in.

So, the movieBox is working pretty well for me. I've lowered the quality level slightly so the files aren't so damn big. The frame rate is still incredible. For some reason, my video editor is having rendering problems and it skips if I make the quality any higher than the standard. No more HD videos from me.... -_-;

I see you have a pinnacle product too? Is there not a built in screen cap feature? I'm pretty sure there's one in mine.

Since I got this dazzle pro I've been running through DC Side Story on a new file with none of the unlocks. Can't wait to play the Hughenden HLV base level with no beam weapons

Here is a couple of the video links

Re: Gameplay Thread

Wow, that gameplay was really interesting, bluemax! I was actually really scared when you clashed sabers with that Zaku! o.o And go vulcans!! =D That game looks so much more fun than the new one for ps3. =/ It actually looks challenging rather than all the running/gunning/charging weapon crap.

So I figured out where my screen capture function is. It's extremely well hidden. And annoyingly enough, I can't adjust the quality, but only the size. I'll post up the results somewhere else.

Otherwise....

A quick peek at my cache of schematics.

Simulator training and more QB practice.

Destroy Arteria Ulna (normal). I did it the long way.

Re: Gameplay Thread

Nostalgia, lol.

Anyone remember Phantasy Star Online ep I&II for the gamecube? Well, I recorded near 50 videos demonstrating all of our characters and rare items. I'll just link the beginning videos for each character, and thereon each will have the appropriate video responses.

My characters:
Tetsuo
Quickdraw
Catherine
Kazuo

Tetsuo is my main character, obviously, and he's a friggin' tank. His Electroframe armor makes him look like he has electro-gonorrhea. Quickdraw is a fan character I made, but she's a Ranger that can cast, so she's potentially more dangerous than Tetsuo. Cathy is my only caster, and I suck at using her. Kazuo probably has the most interesting weapons. I looove using the Chainsawd!!

Some highlights:
maracas, lol
Tetsuo steamrolls over the bad guys
shredding the game's final boss
Quickdraw completely obliterates the Ultimate Forest boss
And you should just watch all of Kaz's videos because his weapons are really neat. His double saber weapons are awesome, like the Partisan of Lightning and the one that's on fire. =p

Chingawala's characters:
Hiro
Melfina
Chance
And he has a character named Hatake I didn't bother to record. >,>

Anyway, that's all the footage I have, since I returned my friend's gamecube to him some weeks ago. It's a shame we didn't get to record any multiplayer sessions.

I was thinking of buying a psp2000 so I could record GvsGN+, but it turns out I'm not super great at that game, so I suppose that might be a waste.

Still need to do more PVP recordings for ACfA....

I suppose I will take this opportunity to do something.

http://www.youtube.com/user/RoboP
My youtube page got a little of Gundam SEED Rengou(Alliance/Federation) vs ZAFT 2 Plus.
But more of my clips lately were more retro gaming things for SNES game recording stuff.
I should do it with some of my PS1 games in future like Raiden and other stuff like that.

I've actually been doing some retro gaming with friends recently myself but we didn't record anything. Played mostly SNES, NES and N64 titles. Incidentally Killer Instinct and Sunset Riders were among the games we played. Another great game we went through was Turtles In Time and that game still stands the test of time for fun factor.

I still haven't finished Side Story yet but I've uploaded a few short vids from other games since. Still got a last battle video to edit from PS1 Vanguard Bandits as well. I'm trying to decide if it's worth recording MS Senki 0081 since there's no HDMI support for the capture card I have and the game is so bad in SD.

Admittingly there are still some SNES games I want to get but those ones I have clips of are all games I have so far and MORE!

Anyway, I should do some other clips but not in to doing SRW clips or other things, since it wouldn't always be easy to manage time wise or stuff.
