Finally done with the lines. the tail stabalizer looks a bit funky perspective wise to me but I'm just too tired of the drawing to care now. any way, the stabalizerno features the same mechanizum as the hips, which is discribed on the side.

note how the CAN-10 colapses, it's barrel is attached to two swing arms (one on either side) that sends the entire barrel assembly up onto the top of the gun. I perfer this over a classic armored core hinge joint because it allows the cannon to be uncolapsed in rather tight quarters. note the drawing of the CAN-10 IS to scale.

Re: Crash's Mecha Designs Works

It's been 10 days since completeting the Azure 08. as I probably stated else where, I'd planed on taking a break form mecha designs for alittle while. that time is over.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cr ... ntorso.jpg
Orginal torso design. according to my computer this was done january last year. certian aspects of the torso no long "fit" with the design style I'm using though I'm trying a bit to force it.

In both these sketches the idea was to draw Dreygun with his left arm forward, it's shield array providing a beasure of defense for the body.

I EXIST...er live!

anyrate here a breif WTF happened explanation:
shit happenes. my atttenion gets focused else where. I forget to draw. no one says stuff. I take forever to get bakc to drawing mecha. when I finaly draw something... I forget to post it because mroe shit happens. ...am I allowed to say shit.

anyway obviously I remembered this time.
http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/Y ... -130454007
the poorly named yoshimoto. he's been mentioned before but here we see him with his mouth open. I do say drawing toothy mecha mouths and not looking either dumb or eva like is realy really hard. any rate this was done to get me back into the swing of things...thing is I don't think it really helped.

I'm also writing the first chapter of a "short story" that is done with the intent of introducing people into the MFL/MME universe. (I so need a single name for that universe) I'll atleast post a link here to it when I'm done with chapter 1.

--------------/edit/----------------------

still haven cleaned up the first chapter but....I did get hit with the inspiration bug from heaven.

SOLOMON! I HAVE RETURNED!!

*fires a nuke down onto Crash's head**

Damn, I've got a lot to catch up on. Bear with me here:

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/A ... -122847656

I think this design is incredible. All the time and frustration over it was definitely worth it. If I could fly one of your designs, it'd be either this one or Eleandor. I really like your choice of a slide mechanism for its back cannons. I think its shins are a bit on the short side though, and I think the design could benefit from having larger feet. Not huge clunky feet, mind you, but longer and more powerful feet that could help it run faster and stand firmer. Maybe some raptor-like feet. And I mean that in a dinosaur/bird sense, not like a ZOE raptor. =p It just needs some really strong toes/talons.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/E ... -122207127

So I'm sure that you're not talking out of your ass when you lecture VR and me. Her proportions are very good! She looks very natural here. I think that you may have made her hair-line too close to her cranium though. You could stand to add some volume to her hair. I wish the red on her suit were not so grey, either. Maybe you could fiddle around with some dark/blacker reds.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/Y ... -130454007

Damn, he looks mean! D: I've always liked your Yoshimoto. Is that a vulcan gun on its blade arm? I love vulcans! =D And I've been thinking, since you've been looking for another name for this fellow, how about Kageyoshi? Kage means shadow, and the 'k' and 'g' definitely sound stronger. And best of all, we can still call him Yoshi for short. =) For mecha with teeth, I've always preferred the Gaogaigar style. (Sorry for the crappy image. Closeups are hard to find.) I haven't seen the show yet, so I don't know if he can bite....

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -130582119

Wow. Your Dreygun design is awesome. Maybe that break did you some good? What's with the huge camera on this guy's head? =p You should darken your handwriting with the burn tool so we can at least attempt to read it!

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/A ... -130581894

And of course, this is very cool, too. I wish you would do more "complete" poses like the one we see at the bottom.

Phwoar! =o

Re: Crash's Mecha Designs Works

Azure 08
you haven't seen yoshimoto's feet. typicaly I try to stay away from the three toed raptor feet reserving them for the more predatorial machines. yoshimot, the majority of the relics, and a hand full of other mehca already sport then. however I do agree that Azure 08's feet need to be larger. like 20% or so (I wounder how oyu'd do that in CS4...) another point to be made is that the foot will always seem smaller because it's broken between the heel and sole rather dramticly where as most MS feet are praticaly one continous chunk of metal.

as for he and Azure 10's smaller then normal thighs, this harkens back to the roginal stand up iamge of Azure 10 ( http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/T ... -116422854 ). If you still feel they are too short from that versons leg scale then I'll consdier chaing them (provided they are still in seperate layers from all the other parts.)

Eless
I'll admit I've got a habit of drawing the hairlines too close to the head but I think its more of a I draw the head too large then I draw the hair too small. as fro geenral proportions I blame comic books and dragonball Z on the specfic propotions set I've developed hence why you never see a "trunk like" torso the majority of the colors expiacialy those on her suit are just filler colors they are likely to change whenever I get back to working on her.

Yoshimoto
He is mean. Imagine your soul being traped in a body that isn't your own, then consider people poking and proding you. that alone is eneought to piss a dude off. in yoshimoto's case that's jsut be begining he's from a group called relics , powerfull in their own sense and quite firece souls. I wouldn't call them vulcans in the same sense as the typical gundam head vulcans, they are pretty much an intergrated smg like weapon.though the acutal bullets fired are liquid metal spikes with both the sword blades and the rounds being generated from the same pool of metal. the blade and for that mater the gun can geenrate/fire from either the front or back of the "armguard". one of the limiting factors of yoshimoto's jaw design is that it has to fit under a faceplate that normally hides it. in general yoshimoto doesn't overly stand out next to other mecha of the series (MW-30).

Dreygun
I beliveve the fact dreyguns design rocks so hard is that I've had the basis for the design completed for over a year. unlike when I first drew the mecha ( http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cr ... ntorso.jpg ) I've got the base mecha mostly designed ( http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cr ... rsos01.jpg , http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cr ... dyhead.jpg , http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/cr ... ensive.jpg ) and the design has been described in detail, in some three different places (in the actual andrus adventure, in the adventure overview .doc, and in the mecha's stats .doc) in particular the .doc in which I put together his stats for the adventure I went into a serious amount of detail about all his modifications and why some where needed. I'll actually copy past much of that when I get to completetion with the design. Dreygun btw being a "headliner" mecha in addition to in "unique mecha" status means that I put extra thought into his design.

Acqland
I'm looking forward to getting deep into this design. having a highly mobile yet wellarmroed skirmisher mecha will be interesting to design, though I'm still curous aobut hitting limitations of the game system as this should be hard to achive. as for more "complete" poses are you meaning "in action" poses or just full body shots. I love doing "in action" images because it comes natural to me (comics background and rock music does that to you, so does your synapses firing off at insane rates) unfortantly with mecha to actually get it going I need to have the design already compelte with acqland I've got the majority of the design already formed in my head and certian aspects of it has been elements in other mecha for a good while now. typicaly I'd call the full body shot which is aproximately 1/3 the page its drawn on a "thumbnail" though typcialy the thumbnails are closer to 1/4th a page or less and helps me plot a pose elendor had several thmbnails done because of his cannons.

Alright I'm out for now, gotta hit up more yard work, a gm post ofr the Andrus Adventure (we're in combat again XD) and thne its back to work on drawing dreygun and/or acqland. oh and I got tow pc mecha to develop XD. I so LOVE being a solo GM in the mfl.

Yoshi's arm weapon sounds a lot like a Crima Claw on the Alseides from Escaflowne. The liquid metal weapon from that show has got to be my all-time favorite. It's just so neat and adaptable. It also looks really cool when the liquid metal spears get deflected. It's like combining the ZOE homing laser with real metal, and flame throwers! My favorite use of the weapon only happened once, and on the first episode: where an Alseides shot out 3 long-range prongs and spun them like a drill. He shredded a whole building in half, haha.

I'm not sure if I'll do a consistently good job, but do you think I should guest design a few MFL mechs? Maybe just one or two.... I could try to make them look like your style, or if you prefer I can try to put it into my own erroneous and schizophrenic style.

If you thought Yoshimoto got close to the crima claw then when I get around to the Vindicator's design (for a future adventure) you'll scream "somebody's gunna sue yah" the Vindicator's "whip" arms have stores of liquid metal far higher then yoshimoto and an exterme amount of control of the metal, so much so it can create flexable whips of the metal, strong swords, functioning claws, ect ect. unlike yoshimoto it's arm system isn't able to fire off spikes like bullets.
oh and to add a little point about Yoshimoto, I refereed to him as a soul trapped in a machine since I hadn't even begun to explain it, the "soul" is one of the ether wraiths I touched on in the technology thread.

when you say my style, do you refer to the proportions I use, or the general sketchy style? normally I'd suggest doing something of an art trade or some such sort but I'm still artistically downhill with too much on my plate as is. if you feel the urge to do so go for it I'd be flattered, hell I am just from someone stating they want to try. XD. hell I could even gather the mfl resources for you to put one together as a in-game correct unit if youu'd fell the urge.

oh and good news. I gots AC woot woot, no more hot and humid tempeture for me XD.

Re: Crash's Mecha Designs Works

ah an update of sorts, still having problems getting into the feel of drawing stuff.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -133614708
drew in the right arm. ended up having to change the positioning of the shoulder armor I had already drawn to work with the arm positioning. I feel that this would be nice if I wasn't also planing to include the assault rifle / machine gun Dreygun uses -the weapon was suppose to be held by the right hand, hence why that hand isn't drawn darkly.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -133615418
redrew both arms so that I can have Dreygun holding the gun in a very low ready stance, this will make it easy for me to draw the gun correctly in perspective and having redrawn the left arm will allow me to position the shield more correctly on it. you can see guide lines for when I position Dreygun's legs into the image already up.
the main thing now is actually drawing the gun which as I stated before gun design is not my strong suite. the left arm if you're wondering is suppose to be holding a cross bar from the gun, and both arms can easily be tweaked so the gun sits correctly once placed.

besides the right shoulder armor being to small does anyone see any initial problems here?
---------/edit/------
Finally got the design of Dreygun's Sarmilitan done. you'd be surprised how hard it is to design some of this crap. I mean it's an assault rifle, how hard can it be am i right?

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/S ... -134273475

the top gun is the Sarmilitan, and just to make this easier on myself, here's the weapon's description from the mecha's stats.
Sarmilitan, Dreygun’s custom machine gun, is interesting on its own. The heavy design is entirely ambidextrous with its feed system featuring two ports that are usually equipped with 80rnd drums but could accept most 7.62mm clips- though the clips would be upside down. The mechanism itself incorporates the counter recoil action of the SAR-15 Brute in order to (somewhat) counter act recoil generated by the higher fire rates available to the weapon. The gun features a complete function control system allowing Dreygun to not only control which one of the disks feed the gun, and can even alternate between rounds if necessary, but also fire the weapon without it actually being in his hand.
Because of possible modifications the gun has in the future I may make some more adjustments to the stock, how ever these would be very minor.

the bottom gun is an as of yet unnamed and unnumbered TR produced assault rifle. ( if you want to take a shot at giving the gun a name go for it, the naming convention of TR weapons is of the line of "Renegade, Brute, Desperato, Bandit, Warlord, Overlord" and such (in fact I think that's the majority of the named TR weapons))
This Assault rifle designed by TR was developed with the lower class in mind, while it maintains TR’s dependability and ruggedness, the assault rifle is a much more dumped down weapon then the company usually produces. The rifle features a 4rnd bust and a full automatic fire rate of 600rnds per minute. Oddly the weapon is incapable of firing single shots. The primary draw of the gun, outside of is price tag, is the large 72rnd magazine the weapon utilizes. The sensor normally found mounted atop the barrel is integrated into the fore in of the gun and unlike other weapons is not designed to be swapped out, in fact the only part of the gun that can easily be modified is the stock.
http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -134271013

More progress on Dreygun. mostly just showing what I'm at right now. I feel a little detail needs to be added to the disk magazine (maybe even enlarge it), the gun itself is exactly the size it's suppose to be. the right shoulder was pulled off the main body so I could see how big it needs to be, the left one is simply a mirror of the right for the sake of completing the arm.obviously the duel shield is still MIA, I need to redraw it since as I stated before it no longer prospectively fits the arm it's suppose to be rigged on to. I need to finish the pelvis of the mecha and possibly even redraw the entire right leg as it looks out of perspective now.

Because of all the work I'm doing on Dreygun, specifically referencing previous TR designs, I may very well may just take the opportunity to collect and scan all the TR designs I already have, not at it's as numerous as the TX stuff I previously did but hey, can't do everything at once.
---------//Yet another edit//-------
I do believe I've found my fury.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/T ... -134546515
the TR-80 (Medium Defense) with a rifleman set up. this would be the orginal form of Dreygun, talk about a far cry.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/A ... -134560358
Azure 02 quickly sketched. A heavily armored TR-70 (Heavy Def) shown with a shield. this is one of the NPC members of the player party. he fills the thankless role of Tank, drawing the attention of enemy units as often as he can or supply suppressing fire. while not pictured he wields a long sword and a heavy machine gun in conjunction with a massive shield.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/A ... -134560636
Azure 02's head. I actually ran into a problem while designing it. it kept looking like a gundam head. luckily I was able to suppress the urge to round the top of the head and slap a V-fin on it.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/W ... -134828982
Speaking of v fins.....

--------------/someone needs to post, this is getting too long/------------
http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/Z ... -135055127
the "Zaku Master"
re defining what it means to be a zeon since the one year war rpg I was part of back in the day. (and only now getting around to drawing him). this guy started life as a standard Zaku 2. But after several encounters with a gundam[g] MS team and getting cut off from zeon lines in the process, the zaku was heavily modified in the field. Most notably it was now powered by one of the defeated gundam's reactors. after successfully linking back up with the main zeon forces in the region a few weeks later the MS was overhauled and became the pet project of one of the research base's scientists. (i.e. the used it as a plat form for testing beam weaponry for the then in development gelgoog.) During one encounter while it was testing out the pictured beam cannon succeeded in downing a MS team before any entered effective range of it's other weapons.

Despite only seeing space combat after the gravity front breaks apart, the MS features many thrusters. the standard backpack is replaced with a single engine model similar to the one used by the Zudah (though obviously not the same one) two more thrusters are visible on the shoulder armor and are used for quick side to side movements. finally the leg features similar thrusters as those found on the Zaku II R-2.

Armaments:
Shoulder mounted Anti-personnel shrapnel launcher x4 (same weapon we use used by a zaku 1 against the villagers in 08th)
75mm Head Mounted Vulcans
120mm Zaku Machine gun (stowed on the back)
320/100mm Beam cannon. an early MS beam cannon could fire a 100mm beam (similar to most beam rifles) or a 320mm blast. the blast is so heavy on energy drain that it actually forces the MS to stand still before firing, because of this it's only used for long range attacks where the larger blast's range is more important the mobility.
Custom Heat Hawk X2. a suped up version of the standard, the major difference is the increased temperature of the blade allowing it to cut that much easier. with the higher output come shorter battery life requiring frequent charging on the rear skirt's weapon rack.

Despite the numerous sorties and aging frame the Zaku Master survives the OYW but disappears into the annals of time with it's unrecorded ace pilot. (BTW through the majority of this character's play he was actually known as "the unknown ace." which was used by both zeon and fed.)

Too many!! >,o;

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -133614708

I was hoping to comment before you got too far, but I guess I'm too late. I know you actually seem to have everything set right, but it looks like the head is misaligned with the torso/shoulders. I can tell that the neck would be anchored to the center and the chin is turned, though. It must have something to do with the straps on his collar....

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/D ... -134271013

Ooh, very cool. At first, I thought you were going to have the muzzle of the rifle coming forward and giving us a top view of the gun instead of having it set flat the way it is now.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/T ... -134546515

I think this is the first time you've had the feet set on different places and where it doesn't look "weird for some reason." Yay! =o The details on this frame are awesome. Requesting action drawing! =o

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/A ... -134560358

Possibly the grumpiest mech I've ever seen.

http://crashlegacy.deviantart.com/art/Z ... -135055127

Zakus, wcch! =o I hope he has a badass generator to support that badass beam cannon. I would like to see a Zaku with a gatling cannon. =p Oh, and have you ever seen the heat hawk on Dozle's custom model? This guy needs a friggin' huge one like that. =o

Sera:

--Dreygun:
I'm amazed I haven't gotten back to this image yet. it's like I jsut don't want to do more work on it. I guess because it will me redrawing a leg and the gun for the sake of my immortal enemy: perspective. as for your comment about the head positioning, yeah I sort of see what you mean, the collar sensors are rather large, probably larger then is rightly indicated here. this will probably turn into one of the things I need to clean up when it goes to the coloring stage since the head itself will get some work done on it to make it symmetrical. If it still looks off then well I'll fix it, but right now there's larger problems to deal with in the drawing.

--TR-80 Rifleman
your comment about the feet position is well heard, I redrew the lower legs several times trying to position it correctly and looking back at several of my previous designs I agree with your statement. many of the foot positions seem a bit wonky. and Sera this is definitely something you need to mention when you see it.

--Azure 02
"grumpiest mecha" lol, considering he does the thankless job of getting shot for other mecha...yeah I bet he's grumpy ... man I'm going to have to use that as a joke soemwhere.

Hey if you can survive in zero's buster rifle's barrel...

Geoxile:
good god Geo could you be any more obscure? I had to search a bit to find images of the particular virtualoid you where talking about. the only similarities I see in Apharmd and any of my designs is the plating of the legs and the TR Def legs. But when you consider they are both suppose to be decently armored and blocky legs, well you kinda start asking how many way you can make a pair of legs that don't look too much like something else already.
as for Eva I'm not surprised, they have similar proportions to the Evangelions and an eject-able cylindrical cockpit that extends out of the back ..but in an order of scale they are much different. and scale is only the start of differences.

Geo, what's up with the one-liners anyway?

Re: Crash's Mecha Designs Works

So where are those updates? =p

An Azure 02 comic would be great. He takes bullets for a living?? That's harsh. For the longest time, I've been pondering what a hi-defense mecha would be designed like, but I could never figure anything that worked out or looked good. I was thinking maybe something with two large shields, and attacked mainly with vulcans and physical blows.

Seriously, calm down. I said your drawings had a resemblance to familiar work and you go off on a mini rant.

CHILL PILL
damn...if you think that's me mad... Seriously I'd not have to "go off on a mini rant" if you put more effort in your own posts. It's great you say something reminds you of something but you could be more specific. What about which designs make you draw these parallels? you one like was horribly vague and erroneous saying "most of them" look like a cross between Apharmd (whose name you misspelled btw, making it take longer to find the design you where referencing) and Evangelions is incorrect as most of the images in this thread are from the TX line, on the TR defensive line which include only three of my posted units which makes it very much a minority.

of and this isn't me "lawlmad on the interwebs" either I'm simply stating things mater-of-factly.

An Azure 02 comic would be great. He takes bullets for a living?? That's harsh. For the longest time, I've been pondering what a hi-defense mecha would be designed like, but I could never figure anything that worked out or looked good. I was thinking maybe something with two large shields, and attacked mainly with vulcans and physical blows.
the first thing that would come to mind in this design is, why would the enemy even bother with such a unit, since stacking armor and defensive equipment would make the unit ponderously slow and unless it's packing some serious heat (like Gatling cannons, rocket launchers, anything that makes big ass booms) it would be easier to just avoid it.

Personally I like the use of heavy machine guns or Gatling cannons so as it could actively engage several enemies at once via staffing fire and general suppressive fire.

I'm not, despite what you might erroneously read between the lines. rather I feel much like I'm berating a silly little child. Not only did you do little more then antagonize the situation you did so with another one liner, put more then a millisecond's thought in your posts.

and for the sake of this being more then just back and forth prattle between me and Geo, here's what I been working on.
Jess' Azure 10 is getting painted though actually I've been playing Star Ocean: TLH the last day and a half...damn the ease of getting sucked into video games.

Okay then.

Geo, if you're not going to explain what you were talking about, then just quit posting period. The Art forum is not for you to jack up your post count.

Now. Back to the topic.

He asked you to elaborate on what you said and you made a big show of victimizing yourself and refusing to do so. If you will not, then shut up and quit posting here.

This line of discussion is over. Continue over PM if you wish, but anything else to do with this will be deleted.
