Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Marlene Mayfield -
- Alexandria class cruiser Mother Wind -

Colony 57J -- one of the many colonies that made up the outlying Jordan cluster. Unique in that its primary function is that of an agricultural facility -- it is a site where food is grown, processed and distributed to the rest of the cluster with little difficulty. Unlike most colonies, 57J is sparsely populated -- only roughly sixty-eight-thousand people call this colony their home. Most of her citizens make meager livings tending the fields while others work for the local shipping companies that profit heavily off the farmer's businesses. Friendly to the Federation, much of their resources had recently been diverted to supporting their beneficiary's war effort.

However, on this particular day, 57J was moving away from its long-occupied position on direct collision course for Earth.

While the other two being dropped along with it were being directed at Sydney and the DC-controlled Aidoneus Island respectively, 57J was presently being aimed at one of the Federation's other primary earth-side facilities. Surrounding the descending colony was a sizable Fandom fleet positioned to ensure its course, and stuck in the thick of it was the Mother Wind with Marlene Mayfield and her crew at the helm.

She had not five hours before received a curt order directly from the Nova Prince to rendezvous with the fleet and provide support to an operation simply called Judgement. Though no details had been given to her the time, Marlene had swiftly complied. However, as things proceeded along, it became all too apparent what the infamous General Aelfhere had planned. What Operation Judgement's purpose was. The first colony had struck, effectively silencing all Federation activity on Earth with one fell swoop. The remaining three were made poised to be delivered along with the General's grandiose and rousing speech broadcast throughout the entire solar system. He spoke of hardship and perseverance. Retribution and conquest. Demanded of the Earth what had been effectively been secured for them without fail anyway: the surrender of the Human Federation, the end of the war... and the Fandom's ultimate victory.

Naturally, the entirety of the Mother Wind was abuzz with various emotions. Many were elated and cried out in victorious chorus. Others expressed relief, wary of the conflict and glad to see it once and for all coming to an end. Nobody, however, was to be seen with any hint of uncertainty or uneasiness in their demeanor, something which had been greatly abundant ever since the arrival of those inter-dimensional pilots, the Gundam team, to the conflict.

Nobody... save one.

By all means, Marlene should have been just as happy as the rest. This was what they had been striving for, after all. What they had fought so long and hard to achieve. At long last, victory was at hand. It meant an end of the wretched Federation, and the dawn of a new age, one commanded not by the old and oppressive of Earth, but those of space. Never again would those of Mars be oppressed as they had been for so long. They had won. They were free.

Yet, somehow, all of this was lost upon the young Dark Star Knight.

In the end, as Marlene looked on upon the descending Colony 57J, watched as Garmin Aelfhere all but proclaimed complete victory with his half-hearted show of mercy, all she could feel was a sense of... what was it? Emptiness?

Or was it loss?

With this blow, the Federation and the Divine Crusaders would be defeated. Nothing would be left of them -- nothing sizable to put up any descent fight anyway. All of their enemies would be destroyed. And with it...

With it, Marlene's chance at revenge that she had what seemed like so long ago sworn herself to. To defeat Strike Zero, her self-decided rival, the only man to have ever bested her in a stand-up fight. Though she was reluctant to admit it, he had become a part of her. Who she was. He was the person that she had to defeat in order to ever become the strongest. Once she'd done that, she could know that she was the strongest. She had bided her time, waited for when the opportunity to fight him once again would present itself, waited for the chance to claim the victory that was rightfully hers! And now...!

Now...

Now he would vanish away from the face of the world, along with all the others.

It was heartrending. There was no other word for it.

Which was why, even in the face of an ultimate Fandom victory, Marlene could feel no joy. Only her loss... and the loneliness that came with having no choice but to face it.

Her thoughts were interrupted as one of the systems officers gave an announcement. "Ma'am! Long range scanners have detected the approach of Federations ships, bearing zero-two-five and closing.

Marlene sighed. Now she had to do her best to push away her emotions. She was a soldier, after all.

"How many?"

"Unconfirmed, ma'am. However... early scans seem to show a Ra Cailum class in their midst."

The blue-haired woman's eyes narrowed. "The Grey Wolf, no doubt... relay this to the entire ship!"

The officer complied and Marlene took two steps forward. "Attention, all hands! It would seem that the Federation is not willing to accept defeat. Here and now we will be faced with one last battle as we fight to defend our ultimate victory, and we shall meet our opponents with cannons ablaze! To victory! To glory! And to our ultimate destiny!"

With a grand sweep of her arm, Marlene finished: "Ready all weapons! All mobile suits to the catapult deck! Mother Wind... we move now!"

And with that, the ship was the first among the defense fleet to turn and start for the approaching Federation interlopers, engines humming. It was to be their most important battle yet, and Marlene was fully intent on finishing it with a great display of force.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Grey Wolf -

On the bridge of the Grey Wolf, one of the operaters called out. "Captain, we are closing on Colony 57J. It appears that there is a Fandom group present. One Alexandria-class is appraoching from 254 degrees to our port anf 36 degrees above."

Rawn nodded in response. "Alright, I want all ships to begin barrage as soon as their in range, the Victory to the front. The Grey Wolf will hold the rear. I want mobile suits out there as soon as possible running a screen. Commander Maaek Steele is in command of their deployment."

"Sir what of the Pericles?"

"Krager can send his people to tackle that Alexandria, but I want the Hyper Mega Particle cannon adding to our barrage. Are all orders understood?"

"Yessir!" came the reply as the operaters furiosly handed out assisgnments.

"Remember, this is our one chance to make a difference. Make it count."

- Wolf Hanger -

the Jegans and Heavyguns were just about gone when Maarek stepped into the brand spanking new Hi-v Gundam. He looked across as the monitor came to life at the ReGZ and the Lieutenant, which was to launch after him on the other catapult.
Hope you don't die kid, he thought to himself as the Hi-v was loaded onto the catapult.

"You are cleared for launch, Commander." the operator said.

"Thank you. Maarek Steele, Hi-v Gundam, taking off!"

"Lieutenant, you are clear as well."

"Understood. Cobray Gordon, ReGZ, going out."

The blue and white Gundam ignited its thrusters, the binders holding the Fin Funnels spread out, like the wings of some vast predatory bird, and was flung into space, and quickly caught up with the various Jegans, Daggers with various Striker Packs, Jestas, Windams, mostly equipped with the improved Aile Pack, and Heavyguns as they spread out to screen the fleet, as the ships behind them lit up space with pink, yellow and green beams.

- Rogue Squadron -

Captain Tycho Celchu headed his formation of 10 ReZELs and was handing down orders.

"OK all. This is it, you heard the Colonel. We'll split into three groups. Red Flight, Blue Flight and Green Flight. I'll lead Red with Rogues Four Five and Six, Rogue Two will lead Blue taking Seven and Eight and Rogue Three will lead Green along with Nine and Ten."

Rogue Ten came over the radio at that point, interupting her leaders speech. "Leader, Ten. Why doe Face always get to be team leader," she all but whined.

"Because he has the most combat experiance out of all of you. Now shush, Fearless Leader is Talking." quipped the unmistakable voice of Garik Loran."

"Thank you Three. Now I'll take red Fligh and drive stright down the middle. Blue and Green will come at the ship from each side and use the beam launchers that Eight and Ten have to either cripple or destroy the ship whil we take care of the mobile suits. Is that understood?"

Nine voices chorused a "Yessir!" and th two other Flights peeled off in unison. Now truly, the Rogues would show the Fandom what they wer capable of.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

-Liilly Junkers-

"We've confirmed it ma'am this thing's enroute to Aidoneus." Lilly looked up at the main screen to see the image of a standard cylindrical Colon identified as colony B78. The Macht's captain sighed.

"Very well what else do we know?"

The adjutant saluted before answering.

"there are about 50 units guarding it we believe them to be mobile dolls and there are no GN units among them." Lilly nodded "we've also confirmed that this colony is of the older variety. that was built in sections."

Lilly considered this information for a moment. "We're lucky; I think we can manage this. We don't have enough explosives on board to destroy the thing out right however if we can damage the connection joints enough with beam fire then we can break it into pieces that will burn up." Lilly paused and pressed several button on her console to bring up a side image of the colony and overlay the blueprints with red marks where the rings were joined together.

"We can break through their line with our Lions and Huckebeins, then have the Freedom, Ashsaber and Valkyries attack these points. Finally, we need to ignite the colonies front thruster to cause a jolt that will actually break it apart."

The adjutant smiled; it was a good plan and one that, it seemed, could succeed.

"I'll relay this to the Redemption." Lilly Nodded.

-Hendor Snow-

Reding over his copy of the plans hendor grimace slightly. He'd be working with that gundam punk and that Bunch of ex-feds. Despite his own reservations he agreed.

-some time later-

The Macht opened it's launch doors and quickly the various Lions Huckebein's streamed out to intercept the formation of Mobile dolls. After them came the Ashsaber, which readied it's Gun Rapier.

"come on Sterling dogs Lets see what you've got."

-Redemption-

The orders were given and the two hangar decks readied for launch. On its decks were more units than any other ship in this task force and they were hungry for vengence.

So as the other ships began to pump mecha out the many launch catapults on the massive carrier started to throw valks, cosmolions, guarlions, and Huckebeins were launched out for battle. They knew their job and they would do it well.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Hellbore -

Hellbore snorted trying to hold back laughter at Snow's comment.

"Hellbore, EX-Freedom, going out!"

The Gundam launched from the catapult and the wings snapped into the x-shape and the thrusters ignited, speeding him ahead of the main advance.

As the Mobile Doll defenders turned to meet the Divine Crusaders Hellbore brought the EX-Freedom to a sudden stop and initiated Full Burst.

The plasma beam cannons flipped over the shoulders and the railguns on the hips unfolded and extended out. Console in front of him flipped up and the dots representing the Dolls where acquired one by one by the freedom powerful quantum computer.

"Come on, you Dolls. Let's see what you got!" Hellbore crowed as the seven different weapons sent their powerful energies toward the Doll formation.

-Hendor Snow-

the mobile dolls split as Hellbore fired, only one of them taking a nonlethal hit.

"damn punk... those toys aren't your responsibility." Hendor muttered to himself before moving forward through the formation of Mobile dolls. Huckebeins and Lions Cleared the way and engaging any unit that moved to challenge Either Hendor or Hellbore.

"Kid! hurry up, we have bigger fish to fry."

The Ashsaber broke through and behind him was a path Valkyries could travel two by two to the colony.

"I'll take this side, you get the other"

Raising his Gun Rapier Hendor fired at the nearest connection bolt.

-Valk Squad-

The pilots didn't need approval to do there job... They were perfectly capable of targeting the support structures and using their FAST packs they had more than enough armor piercing missiles to do this job. And that they did as the group split up the work and started to unleash streams of explosives at the bones of the colony.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Marlene -

"Enemy fleet sized confirmed, commander," the tactical officer announced. "One Ra Cailum registered as the Grey Wolf, one ((whatever class the Victory is because I don't know and can't find it)), one Nahel Argama, two Clop classes, one Salamis. That is all."

"Enemy has deployed mobile suits," reported navigation. "Over two dozen of various Federation makes. One Re-GZ and a single unidentified type."

"That's all?" Marlene questioned. The Federation fleet must have been more worse for wear than she could have ever imagined. It appeared as though Tyber Zann had done his job well.

"Begin launching the Xeku Eins at once!" she barked. "Order the to deploy and engage enemy targets at will. Also begin transmitting orders to our allies. Have them deploy in a phalanx -- we cannot allow the Federation to reach the colony!"

The Mother Wind's ten Xeku Eins units -- three of them outfitted as snipers, the others normal battle types -- rocketed out of the hanger bay in sequence and quickly spread into formation in front of the vessel. Meanwhile, other ships were already moving to join on the defensive. From the forces waiting in reserve behind the Wind, two more Alexandrias appeared up along side Marlene's ship and began deploying their mobile suits as well. What resulted in addition to the Xeku Eins was a force of a dozen Barzams at the Xeku Ein's right flank, and a force of eight Zaku IIIs and four Dooben-Wolfs at their left, a formidable opposition to be sure.

"I will be launching myself shortly," Marlene continued. "All forces... send them to the abyss!"

The Federation fleet had already opened fire. The ship on the Mother Wind's port side suffered a hit on its starboard engine, but all other beams blazed by harmlessly, clean misses. The frequency of hits was certain to increase as the Federation ships drew closer. The Fandom would have to put a stop to them before that happened. At present, the Victory was at the head of the Federation formation. All three of the Alexandrias tracked it and opened fire with their main cannons, unleashing a series of powerful blast at the enemy ship.

The mobile suits, meanwhile, surged forward to meet the oncoming Federation mobile suits. The three Xeku snipers began by targeting the Rouge Squadron and sent powerful, long beams their way.

Colony 57J, meanwhile, continued to plummet along its decent course...

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Hellbore -

The young man ground his teeth in frustration as the Cosmolions and Huckebeins moved passed him to engage the targets he had failed to destroy and at Snow's biting comment. He reignited the thrusters and made his way to the targets. Combining his two beam rifles he took careful aim and fired on each of the bolts he passed as he circled the colony.

- Federation Fleet -
- Colony 57J -

((OOC: The Victory is a Izumo-class from SEED :D ))

The captain if the Victory order the ship to evade the fire coming their way, and the helmsman responded by moving the ship 'down' quickly, though several beams still either impacted non-essential areas or scraped along the side. The ships two Gottfried beam cannons continued to fired one after the other keeping a constant barrage along with the rest of the fleet. The two Clop-class cruiser suddenly accelerated ahead of the battleship, moving up the flanks, firing their main guns on the leading edge of the colony, while the machine guns on the flanks opened up on the mobile suits. The Salamis also moved up from 'below' firing 'up' at the Alexandria-classes with as many guns as could be brought to bear. All ships supplemented their beam fire with regular missile barrages.

Off to one side the Pericles was also firing it's mega-particle cannons, and main guns, but it was really biding it's time until the hyper mega-particle gun was charged. The plan was to blow a wide hole in one side of the colony, hoping that the impact would deflect the colony away from the Earth, or at the very least, away from the intended target.

- Mobile Suits -
- Main Group -

Up against the Fandom mobile suit was a force consisting of the Hi-v, ReGZ, two Heavyguns, two G-Cannons with new Variable Speed Beam Rifles, six Jegans (1 Stark, 2 Normal Types, 2 B-types and 1 A-type), three Jestas, five Neo-Aile Windams, eight Dagger Ls (two Launcher, two Doppelhorn, four 'vanilla') and six Nouvel GM IIIs.

Steele announced over the comm to begin the assault and all hell broke loose. The Launcher Daggers fired their 'Agni' hyper impulse cannons into the Fandom formation, along with the G-Cannons VSBRs, while the Doppelhorns targeted the ships with their recoilless cannons. The Windams and Daggers without a Striker Pack broke off to deal with the Barzams on the left, while the Jegans and GMs moved to deal with the forces on the right.

On the right, the Windams open fire with their beam rifles and the missiles from the offensive shield while the Daggers fire their Mk39 low-recoil cannons, while on the left the mobile suits open with a volley of missiles from the Jegans shields, the B-types pods and the GMs shoulder launchers.

Down the middle Steele in his Hi-v began the battle by levelling his v hyper bazooka and firing on the Xekus. In the ReGZ, Cobray fired his twin beam cannons in rapid succession, interspersed with fire from the large beam cannon as he closed quickly with the large blue mobile suits. The Heavyguns and Jestas merely closed and raised their beam rifles firing as the opportunity arose.

- Rogue Squadron -
- Red Flight -

The four ReZELs dipped and weaved though the long range beam fire, their years of experience making them difficult targets. One of their number, Rogue Six, was also packing long-range fire-power. Phanan, a doctor in a past life transformed his ReZEL, and dropping below the others as they continued forward, grasped the shoulder-mounted beam cannon and fired at the Xeku Eins to scatter them while the other three, Celchu, Donos and Tainer closed in firing their beam rifles attached under the main body of the transformable mobile suit.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

[Vexation]

Captain Edding rubbed his temple. He was unsure of his orders, and they had recently captured a pilot.

"Have her put in sickbay, wake up Ronson, and his security team. Tell them to be extra vigilante around the area."

There was much confusion on why the enemy soldier was placed in the brig, but she was quickly forgotten as word had gotten loose over what happened.

"My god." He said as Aelfhere's speech started over. "How many citizens were inside Colony 32A?"

The operator typed away at her keyboard. "Estimated at twenty two million sir."

Edding stroked his left sideburn intently. Those Fandom bastards willingly murdered their own kind. Just to take a chip off them.

"Captain we're getting orders to rendezvous with the Fleet, and assist in a different operation."

"Where?" Edding asked quickly. "At Side 4 Sir."

"Negative, we'll never make it on time. Send my apoligies we will continue on our current route. We'll rendezvous with the Fafnir as planned. They would not of been able to hear the news during their trip, and they are expecting us. The fandom could have more up their sleeve."

[Garmin Aelfhere]

The red headed general stepped briskly as he quickly honed in on Tyber Zann's new office. He clasped a rather large an narrow box underneath his arm, he was also flanked by two of his personal soldiers.

Von Braun city was a magnificent place. It was always said who ever controlled the beautiful city was the true ruler of space. Fitting that the city was now under control of the Fandom regime.

Aelfhere burst into Zann's room with an unnatural looking smile on his face. "Tyber! you have done well!" He said taking a seat across from him. "Tell me now what took you so long?" He said in a kind tone that was strange for the man.

"Victious sends his regards." He said passing him the long and narrow wooden box. Inside was an officer's sword similar to the one Aelfhere wore on his dress. It was an odd tradition in the Fandom army for successful leaders to wear this ancient weapon.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Tyber Zann -

Even though such relics were of little interest to him, Tyber graciously accepted the sword with a salute, lifted out of the box, inspected it briefly before passing it onto Urai Fenn, who stood behind him. Fenn held the blade reverently, not because of what it symbolised, but beacause of it's fine workmanship. This sword was fully usable.

"I thank you and Lord Sterling deeply for this great honour," he intoned gravely, " and apologise for my delay in taking the moon. I was merely waiting for an opportune moment." He looked archly at the general. "I believe my strategy was vindicated, yes?" he challenged.

After a moment of uncomfortable silence, Tyber sat back and dispelled the tension. "To current matters, may I offer congratulations on you bold move with the colonies. I do believe that with this the Federation is finished and our victory is assured."

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Fandom Fleet -

Brilliant light filled the Mother Wind's bridge as the Alexandria to the lead ship's port, unable to maneuver as well as her sisters due to the previously-received damage, suffered direct hits from the Victory's mighty Gottfried batteries and one of the Dagger L's hefty Dopplehorn cannons and promptly exploded as a result. Various screams from her crew filled the general COM until fire engulfed the vessel fully as it utterly vaporized. It was a minor victory on the Federation's part.

However, it was to be painfully short lived. From behind the Mother Wind and the other Alexandria, more mighty beams erupted forth and burned their way towards the Federation fleet. Further reinforcements had arrived to take the fallen ship's place, present in the form of two ships. One was another Alexandria. The other, however, was a ship of an unfamiliar class. The first of its kind fresh from the assembly yards, it was sleek and dagger-shaped and toted several high-powered beam cannons and missile launchers along its length. The name of this ship was aptly the Daggerhead, and her captain smirked smugly as he reviewed the situation.

"All weapons, target those approaching Clop types. Fire!"

The Daggerhead released a volley of missiles accompanied by bursts from its heavy GN lasers while its companion ship provided with a similar attack, everything aimed at the two Clops attempting to damage the Colony. Unfortunately for them, they themselves might not have even been able to finish their mission -- their initial attacks, though striking true, had little visible effect. It would take a great deal more firepower to send the falling settlement off-course.

The Mother Wind and the other Alexandria, meanwhile, continued their counter attack, evading fire and then returning it. The Mother Wind focused her weapons on the Victory while the other redirected its assault towards the Salamis that was harassing its mobile suits.

- Barzam Squad -

Two Barzams were boiled away almost immediately, caught in the heavy support fire of the Launcher Daggers and the G-Cannons. Two more were destroyed as the two forces began their direct engagement, struck by incoming fire from the Windam and Dagger L teams. The remaining eight, however, were quick to counter-attack, positioning themselves in a defensive phalanx formation and letting loose with their beam rifles, targeting the Daggers and Windams as they saw fit.

- Zaku III/Dooben-Wolf Squad -

Whether they were simply too overzealous or just plain unlucky, nobody would ever know. Whatever the case was, the Zaku team quickly found three of their numbers vanishing into plumes of fire as they were caught by the brunt of the missiles while moving forward to intercept the GM and Jegan team. The remaining five immediately broke off their charge and scattered, firing their beam guns frantically. The Dooben-Wolf pilots holding back, however, were clearly the more competent and complacent of the group. Calmly swatting down stray missiles with their vulcans, the four green-colored units combined their beam rifles with the mega-particle cannons in their chests in unison, charged the weapons and fired them in a vicious, enveloping spray at the incoming Federation units, hoping to thin their numbers with a single attack.

- Xeku Eins Squad -

Faced with the fearsome barrage of Maarek Steel's bazooka, two of the Xeku Eins couldn't help but be hit and destroyed, reducing the squad number to eight. The rest would have most likely would have been destroyed by the powerful Funnel-bearing mobile suit right then if not for the timely intervention of Marlene Mayfield.

"Federation scum!" she cried as she descended on both the Hi-Nu Gundam and the Re-GZ simultaneously, having finally deployed in her Bawoo, in an attempt to draw their attention away from the Xeku Eins. This left the remaining five Nighthawk attackers free to engage the imminently-approaching Rogue Squadron.

The five Xeku Eins charged, expertly dodging around the ReZEL's precise beam fire and returning the favor with their own weapons. Three of them moved to engage Celchu, Donos and Tainer individually while the other two shot past them in a double-team against Rogue Six.

The three Snipers, meanwhile, continued to hold back, this time firing their long-beam rifles at the Dopplehorn Daggers that were harassing their ships, hoping to prevent any more hurtful losses.

- Marlene -

Marlene opened up with a burst from the five mega-particle blasted mounted on the Bawoo's shield at the Re-GZ to keep it at bay. She then moved to attack the Hi-Nu Gundam directly, tracking and then firing upon the blue-and-white colored mobile suit with her rifle.

"Your Gundam looks fancy," Marlene complemented sardonically. "But against a Dark Star Knight, you fools are nothing!"

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

-Hendor Snow-

The Halberd Launcher fired smashing the last of the bolts that held the colony sections together. Hendor turned to see the battle coming to an end as others suronded the last group of mobile dolls.

"tck... such a poor performance from those dogs." Hendor then switched to the Macht's channel as he distanced himself from the colony. "Captain, it's your show."

-Lilly Junkers-

"Good..." Standing up Lilly extended her arm dramatically "Fire the main cannons Target the thruster port."

Seconds later the Macht's large beam cannons fired; they struck true and did exactly as intended. With a large explosion the falling colony shifted. then began to break apart into dozen's of smaller ring-like sections.

Aelfhere laughed at Tyber's congratulatory statement. It was a long evil laugh, drawn out by the man's sadistic madness.

"You can thank those fools who formed the Divine Crusader's for that. I am nothing but a pawn in a big picture." He grinned wickedly taking a sip from a goblet of red wine that was handed to him. Another glass of wine was placed on Tyber's desk.

"After the federation surrenders, there will be no need for weapons" He said motioning towards the Sword he had just presented Zann with. "Men like, me will go down in history as savages and a murderers. People like you and Victious will be responsible for reshaping mankind"

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Federation Fleet -

From the bridge of the Grey Wolf, the Clop cruiser to the port side was stuck by missiles all along its flanks and gutted by high-powered beams. The ship seemed to list for a few seconds before being engulfed in a huge fireball that quickly died. Rawn narrowed his eyes and said nothing while the area of space before flashed with explosions and multicoloured beams. The remaining Clop and Salamis cruisers continued to fire beams and missiles upon the enemy, even as ragged tears appeared in the hulls.

The Victory had narrow;y evaded serious damage but was marked with scorch marks and small holes. The captain ordered the 'Lohengrin' positron blaster guns to be deployed and fired. As missiles continued to stream out of the ship, two guns emerged on either side and fired a stream of positrons to annihilate the forces caught in its wake.

"85%, 87%, 91%..."

The bridge crew on the Pericles held their breath as the weapons officer couted the charge of the hyper mega-particle cannon. Krager gripped the armrests of his command chair so hard that his knuckles were bone white. They had one chance, and this was it.

"100%. Captain, charge complete!"

"Alright, hyper mega-particle cannon, fire!"

All guns on the Pericles suddenly ceased and the large cannon under the prow glowed briefly before firing an enormous pink beam at the colony's leading edge.

- Windam/Dagger Squad -

As the Daggers discarded their empty cannons for their beam carbines, two were struck full on by the Barzams return fire and disappeared in pink explosions. The one Windam used his shield to block unable to evade the fire. In return the remaining mobile suits kicked their thrusters to a full burn to rapidly close with their enemies, firing beam rifles all the while.

- Jegan/GM Squad -

While the beams from the Zakus were hurried and easily evaded, the Dooben-Wolf's mega launchers vaporised four of the slower GM IIIs as the rest scattered. The mobile suits moved off, firing their beam rifles, trying to isolate mobile suits from the others to pick them off piecemeal.

- Doppelhorn Daggers -

The Daggers that had remained behind for support continued firing the cannons at the Fandom ships, even when one of their number was destroyed by the far off Xeku Eins.

- Jestas/Heavyguns -

The Jestas and Heavyguns continued assaulting the front lines. All mobile suits in the mixed group fired their beam rifles, supplemented with grenades, at the Xekus, who seemed preoccupied with other targets.

- Rogue Squadron -

Celchu, Donos and Tainer, each saw their attacker coming. Celchu expertly transformed his ReZEL, fired twice each from the beam rifle and shield mounted beam cannon, transformed back to MA mode and shot towards the bigger blue suit. Donos manoeuvred around, not giving an easy target, and passed the Xeku on the right. Now behind his target, the pilot transformed to mobile suit mode and fired a deadly shot right into the back of the bulky enemy. Tainer was less flashy than his comrades. Keeping the ReZEL in MA mode, he fired from both the beam rifle and cannon as he closed with the Xeku Eins.

For the oldest Rogue, Phanan, it was a different story. Seeing two Xekus heading his way, he fired once from his beam launcher at one and then quickly discarded it as extra weight. He rounded on the other with his his shield cannon and fired twice before drawing his beam saber and charging in.

Then the trap was sprung. The six remaining Rogues returned from their wide loop. Two, Seven and Eight from the left, Three, Nine and Ten from the right. As they closed, Corran Horn saw that it had worked, the Fandom mobile suits had left their ships virtually undefended. "All right all, this is Two. Eight and Ten you know what to do."

"Two, Eight, roger that!"

"This is Ten, roger."

"Ok then, boys and girls, lets party!"

The six ReZEL opened fire on the Fandom ships and mobile suits from both direction and behind.

- Cobray -

The mega particle blast from the Bawoo drove Cobray into a spin as he narrowly avoided the beams. Fighting to control his suit he felt three impacts along the BWS, which were accompanied seconds later by red-flashing warning signs. He quickly ejected the damaged system, which continued on and exploded from the damage. The now more normal ReGZ fired his thrusters to rejoin the Maarek.

- Maarek -

"Your Gunda-brzz-ancy, but ag-tch-Dark Star Knight, you-kzz-re nothing!"

"If that's the best a Dark Star Knight can offer, I don't need to be!" Maarek counted.

Twisting the Hi-v away from the beam fire, he came up level with the Bawoo and fired his rapid fire beam rifles at the dark coloured mobile suit, strafing the enemy, keeping the Gundam moving. He punctuated his fire with blasts from the beam cannon in the shield.

Suddenly from behind Marlene, three beam blast came at her. "I'm here to assist, Maarek Steele." Cobray had returned. The ReGZ fired again as it closed with the combatants.

((NEW post cause the other was already long enough))

- Hellbore -

He bore sat in the cockpit of the hovering Freedom as the colony broke up below him. It had been almost pathetic that this was the best the Fandom could defend a operation with. He opened a comm channel to the Macht and asked, "What now Captain?"

- Tyber Zann -

Lifting his glass to salute the general, Zann said, "You honour me too much General Aelfhere. I am merely serving my duty, a cog in the greater Fandom machine." He took a sip of the wine and found it quite agreeable.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Daggerhead -

"Captain!" the communications officer barked. "The Vagrant has reported critical system failure. Her reactor is redlining."

The Captain of the Daggerhead didn't offer up much reaction other than to nod. "Tell them to pull ahead of our position. They shall form a barricade against enemy fire for us."

"S-sir?" the officer replied hesitantly.

"They are still able to move under their own power, correct?"

"Yes, sir..."

The order was transmitted and the Alexandria complied, moving ahead of the Daggerhead and setting itself in a broadside firing position. It was a suicidal maneuver -- as evidenced by the few shots that almost immediately struck her hull inflicting further damage -- but they would do their duty. The Vagrant's cannons opened in what would undoubtedly be its last crescendo of beam fire.

The Daggerhead's captain rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "These Federation mongrels are putting up more of a fight than I would have ever imagined..."

"Captain!" another officer suddenly exclaimed. "Large-scale energy spike detected! The Argama is..."

The captain leaned forward, intently examining the approaching Nahal Argama class and its main cannon which seemed to be tracking the falling colony behind them...

- Barzam Squad -

In the ensuing crossfire, five more Barzams were lost as they were struck down one by one. As it so ensued, the remaining three pilots regarded one another, came to a unanimous consensus, and drew their beam sabers in unison. They then proceeded to rush the Windams and Daggers in a furious charge. With their mothership gone, and their area of retreat rapidly diminishing by the seconds, there wasn't much left to do but to give everything in the defense of their precious mission.

- Zaku III/Dooben-Wolf Squad -

One of the four Dooben-Wolfs was hit dead center and exploded, prompting the other three to disengage their rifles and move forward. Three more Zakus also met a similar fate, reducing their number down to two, and by that point the Wolf pilots ordered their lesser comrades to fall back while they moved to engage the Jegans and GMs directly. Deploying their incoms and priming their rifles, the Dooben Wolfs unleashed a shifting web of beam fire from multiple directions at their quarry.

- Xeku Eins squadron -

The first of the Xekus was about to counter Celchu's attack when he was suddenly struck by a grenade from one of the Jesta's, caught unawares. He was subsequently left completely disabled. The second was far more vigilant, tracking Donos as he circled about and dodging quickly despite the Xeku Eins' fair size, then firing his beam rifle in retort. The third proved to be quite daring as he dodged each of Tainer's shots in succession. When the ReZEL had closed, the Xeku raised its rifle over his head and swung down at the enemy, aiming to smash its body in with the vicious blow.

The final two responded to Phanan's daring maneuver by priming their grenade launchers and firing in quick succession.

- Mother Wind -

The ploy of Rouge Squadron came as a surprise indeed. the crew of the Mother Wind expressed apprehension as the ship was rocked by beam fire. That apprehension quickly turned to horror as two beams suddenly ripped through the bridge of the Alexandria at their side. The ship's guns immediately silenced and the ship itself began listing off to the left. The officer left in charge hurriedly ordered that point defenses begin to target and destroy the incoming Rogues.

That was when the Pericles finally made her move. Her Hyper Mega particle cannon having reached optimum charge, it fired and released a massive, powerful beam that shot past the Federation fleet, past the Fandom and the Daggerhead in the rear and struck the colony at its forefront. The resulting explosion and decompression of air as the beam easily pierced the outer colony wall was so tremendous that the entire colony seemed to be shaken as a result.

And that it was.

- Daggerhead -

"Reporting!" the systems officer shrieked as he assessed the damage and the aftereffects of the explosion. "The colony's descent angle... has changed bearing two degrees due zero-two!"

To the untrained listener this may have seemed inconsequential. But for a huge object dropping at such a speed and from such a great height, it was a serious matter indeed. It meant that the colony was no longer along its precision path that would take it towards its target. The Federation had succeeded in diverting the danger away from their forces. They had won.

...Or so it appeared until the Captain gave a low chuckle. "In that case..." he began, "proceed with the backup phase on the double."

"A-aye, sir!"

The officer typed in several commands at his console. For a few seconds, there was a silent lull. It was completely shattered upon a brilliant flash of light and the sound of a mighty explosion... from the opposite side of the colony shaft. The massive cylinder rumbled once again... then it suddenly stopped.

This was the Fandom's countermeasure for any outside force's attempts to alter the colony's path to Earth. In addition to maneuvering it, the surrounding fleet had taken the liberty of strategically planting powerful explosives all across the colony's hull. When detonated, these explosives would act in a similar manner as the emergency thrusters of a warship -- altering the course and putting the massive structure back on track.

"Assessing..." the operator announced, using his suit's sleeve to wipe the sweat beading on his brow. "Colony has... returned to original course varying point-zero five degrees."

"That will do," the Captain replied with another chuckle. "Now... let us go and deal with that pest, shall we? Deploy the Diablo team and ready missiles and the main cannon. Our target of opportunity is that Nahal Argama's froward bow battery. We shall not allow them to disrupt us again."

From out of the Daggerhead's hanger bay deployed its accompaniment of six Mobile Suits: two Aheads and four GNX-III Cannons. They sped out towards the approaching Pericles and, once in range, targeted the ship's Hyper Mega Particle Gun and opened fire. Meanwhile, the Daggerhead proceeded likewise, firing its main battery in a fierce series of shots in addition to a large volley of missiles.

- Marlene -

"You...!" Marlene growled. She raised her rifle in response to Maarek's attack an soon the two mobile suits were alternating fire with one another, both dodging, both trying to land a hit on one another but ultimately failing to do so.

If I use the mobile suit my Prince gave to me... Marlene thought momentarily, but quickly shook the idea away.

That sword was for him and him alone!

She refocused on the darting blue-and-white Gundam. "You underestimate me--GAH!"

Marlene cried out as the Bawoo was suddenly struck by a beam blast from behind. Descending upon her was Cobray's Re-GZ, primed and ready for a fight.

"Damn you... I'll take you both on!" the blue-haired girl screamed. Holstering her rifle and drawing the Bawoo's beam saber, she changed targets and rushed the Re-GZ, delivering a vicious slash aimed at the Mobile Suit's mid-section.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Federation Fleet -

In the aftermath of the Pericles' attack and the Fandom's ploy, all who had time to witness it were stunned. This actually cost the pilots of the remaining GM IIIs as the incoms of the Dooben Wolfs took them apart, along with two Jegans, a Normal and B-type. The four remaining mobile suits took the initiative and the Stark Jegan and last B-type fired all their remaining missiles at the large green suits while the A-type and Normal Type used the cover to mov in close firing the beam rifles four or five times, before switching to their sabers.

As the Barzams closed with the Daggers and Windams, the Windam pilots took their own sabers and moved to meet the blue suits, firing their CIWS before slashing with their sabers. The Daggers moved off past the mobile suits and fired their beam carbines at the ships beyond.

Up the middle the Heavyguns and Jestas moved past the Xekus and closed with the ships firing their last grenades and beam rifles at the Fandom, dodging the point defences.

- Pericles -

"Sir, six mobile suits coming right for us!"

The ensigns cry was punctuated by a large explosion as the ship was hit right through the centre catapult, destroying the hyper mega-particle cannon. other fire stitched along the hull, taking out one of the mega-particle cannons the main guns and engines. The beams from the Daggerhead was the final nail in the coffin as the bridge was torn off and the reactor went critical, erasing hundreds of lives and the federations last hope.

At the rear, the Launcher and Doppelhorn Dagger Ls continued their barrage of the battlefield targeting the Aheads and GN-Xs that had sunk the Pericles. The G-Cannons moved up and fired the VSBRs in high-velocity mode, using their smaller size to their advantage.

- Rogue Squadron -

Phanan, the oldest of the Rogues suddenly found that hecoulcnt think, the reflexively dodged one grenade, but misjudged the other, which struck him directly in the cockpit, killing the man instantly, and disabling the ReZEL.

"Phanan!" cried out Donons as he barely dodged the Xeku's beams, and returned fire with hiss own. Celchu, seeing his opponent disabled, made a tight turn to reverse direction, and fired both his beam weapons at the Xekus that had killed Phanan. Tainer was also unlucky, he timed his move too late, and while the blow didn't catch him full on, it did crush one side of the ReZEL, preventing transformation and sending the mobile armour careening out of control.

The flanking forces were not faring any easier. The combined defences of the ships presented a formidable wall. Rogue Seven fell first, the beam vaporising the cockpit, but missing the reactor, the ReZEL continued on a collision course with the Alexandria. Nest was Rogue Nine when three different beams skewered the ReZEL, the mobile suit disappearing in a cloud of smoke. Surprisingly, Rogue Three also fell to the secondary guns of the Alexandria, his last words to the effect of "Piece of c-". The remaining three ReZELs linked up above and in front of the ships, Rogue Ten, barely eighteen, was struggling to hold back tears and focus while Eight, Sarkin, felt a cold fury. Horn came over the radio, to both of them, "We have to pull to together. We have to do what's important before we grieve."

The two women transformed their mobile armours to suit mode and took aim with thier beam launchers over the shoulders and fired, while Horn stayed in armour mode and charged the ships firing both rifle and cannon as fast as he could.

- Grey Wolf -

After the destruction of the Pericles, hope had gone out of the Federal forces. The weapons continued to fire, but any thought of success had gone out. Rawn sat in his chair, his eyes dark and unreadable. Suddenly on of the lookout cried out, "Sir the Farnsworth is..."

"What!"

The Salamis cruiser had accelerated to full speed ad was charging full speed, right on a collision course with the colony. It was a desperate pointless move, but surre enough, the dark grey ship moved steadily toward the solid wall of the colony.

"Sir, the Delilah as well..."

Possibly inspired by the Farnsworth, the last Clop cruiser had also accelerated on a collision course. Both ships trailed smoke and seemed to barely hold together as they moved off. No escape craft left the ships, the crew willing to hold on to the last moment to ensure the collision.

Rawn gritted his teeth at the sight. "Cover those ships. Don't let them sink!"

The Grey Wolf guns focussed and blazed away, along with the Victory's Gottfried and Lohengrin cannons firing as fast as they could.

- Maarek/Cobray -

The Bawoo was faster than Cobray had anticipated. "Oh sh-" he breathed as he tried to evade. His movements caused the beam saber to strike lower than intended, removing both legs at the knee. In retaliation, he fired the four hip-mounted grenades point blank.

Maarek took advantage of the enemies back by drawing his own beam saber and charging in, vulcans blazing. "Having trouble, Dark Star Knight?" he taunted.

Re: Chapter 24: Judgement[Space]

- Barzam Squad -

It was a valiant last stand, but a last stand nonetheless. They closed the distance and attempted fast close-range attacks, but the Windams were faster still. All three of the Barzams found themselves gutted by fire as each of thee Windam’s burning blades found their marks. Two of the blue mobile suits exploded. The last one, sparks still shooting out its torso, charged forward and attempted one final jab at his opponent’s chest before it too succumbed to the fatal damage and joined its comrades in fiery blast.

- Dooben-Wolf/Zaku III Squad -

A missile to the face sealed the fate of the lead Dooben Wolf, immobilizing it long enough until another found its way to the suit’s cockpit. The other two hefty suits managed to dodge around the missile barrage, which ironically allowed for them to continue on to find and destroy the two Zaku III’s that had pulled back before. Nevertheless, the two Dooben Wolfs pressed forth, readying their own beam blades and engaging both the Jegan normal and the Jegan A-Type individually. Blades locked and sparks flew as all four mobile suits began a mighty contest of strength. However, through all of this, the Dooben Wolf’s INCOMs hadn’t stopped moving -- the remote weapons continued to track and fire upon the two fire-support Jegans beyond.

- Xeku Eins Squad -

Of the two Xekus that had engaged and killed Phanan, one was hit square in the back by beam fire, caught off guard by Celchu’s attack. The other, made aware by his comrade’s demise, immediately performed an about-face and returned fire only to have another beam blast off the Xeku’s weapon arm. Not to be deterred, the pilot expertly reached over with his left arm, wrenched the weapon out of the severed arm’s hand and continued his counter-barrage.

Donons' luck, meanwhile, continued to persevere as he scored two direct hit’s on his target’s chest, damaging the Xeku’s reactor and causing it to explode brilliantly. He would soon find himself under attack again, however, as the Xeku that had taken Tainer out of the fight descended on him from behind, beam rifle blazing.

- Vagrant -

It was nothing short of a miracle that the Vagrant had lasted this long, smoke pouring from out of various holes burned through along its length, pummeled endlessly from the assaults of mobile suits and warships alike. However, it finally met its end in by the mighty blast of the Victory’s Lohengren positron cannon. The beam struck, and metal twisted and warped around it until the ship’s reactor blossomed into the mightiest explosion yet, filling the space the ship used to occupy with fire…

…which was when twin beams of gold shot through the wreckage straight at the Victory. From out of the fire emerged the Daggerhead, having stayed true to her captain’s directive and remained protected by the Vagrant’s near derelict all the way until the end.

“You’ve all been most impressive thus far,” her Captain complemented. “But I’m afraid its time for this little game to come to an end.”

The Daggerhead’s primary turret rotated and fired upon the approaching Delilah, attempting to stop its brave but foolhardy advance. It complemented this attack with the launching of all its remaining missiles at the Dagger L’s and G-Cannons that continued to plague them, granting cover for the returning Diablo team. The GN-XIII Cannons took up position near the Daggerhead and began return shelling the Jestas and Heavyguns, while the two Aheads located Horn on his run and razed the transformed suit with their beam rifles.

- Mother Wind -

The ship was almost finished -- pelted by fire from Rogues 10 and 8 while suffering a damaged engine courtesy of the Grey Wolf’s cannon fire, it wouldn’t be long before the Mother Wind joined its sisters into oblivion. However, ironically, it wouldn’t be this unyielding barrage of fire that would end up doing it in, but rather Rogue 7’s cockpit-less ReZEL, spiraling out of control directly towards the Alexandria… and its bridge.

The officer in charge’s eyes widened as he spotted the incoming danger. “Quickly! Intensify the forward firepower!”

Too late!” came a panicked and terrified reply.

Nobody could do anything as the tip of the ReZEL plowed headlong through the Mother Wind’s forward view screen, killing everybody in one instant. The next instant, the mobile suit exploded, vaporizing what was left of the section and forever silencing the ship.

- Marlene -

“Hah!” Marlene exclaimed, surging with satisfaction at the sight of the Re-GZ losing both of its legs. She was about to press her assault and attack again when a flash of light and a terribly alarming sight caught her attention and squelched her exhilaration as fast as it came: the sight of her ship suffering a mighty explosion at the bridge.

“N-no!” she gasped. “The Mother Wind--!”

Yet another explosion barred her thoughts once again, only this one was inflicted unto her mobile suit as one of Cobray’s grenades glanced off of it. Marlene grunted in surprise and clenched her teeth, but still couldn’t tear her sight away from the burning Alexandria, sheer panic shooting through the pit of her gut.

“It can‘t be!” she cried desperately. “Not my Jagantarl…!”

Yet another grenade struck, this one splitting her shield in half. The young Knight managed to dip around the third one only to have the fourth relieve her Bawoo of its left leg. Marlene cried out again as the Bawoo was jostled so violently that she bounced against her restraining harness.

Maarek was descending upon the Bawoo, beam saber bared to kill. “Having trouble, Dark Star Knight?”

Marlene’s eyes widened. In this position, there was no way for her to properly counter the incoming stroke. This was it. She was finished. On reflex, she squeezed her eyes tight shut and looked away. No! This can’t… not here! Not until I‘ve…!

There was a tremendous impact and a brilliant flash of light, and Marlene waited for the cold embrace of death to envelop her. Only… it didn’t. One second passed. Two. Still, she didn’t feel any different from before. Slowly, she opened her eyes… and promptly stiffened out of shock at the sight that greeted her. There, above the Bawoo, having caught the Hi-Nu Gundam’s beam saber with the length of its rifle, was a black and red-painted Rein Weissritter.

Well, well…” came a positively cold, slimy voice over the COM. “You really are hopeless all on your own, aren’t you?”

Marlene’s jaw dropped. “Cain?”

The thin, dark-robed man gave a chuckle. “At your service, my dear.”

With a great heave, he broke the weapon lock and forced the Hi-Nu Gundam away, leveling the Personal Trooper's Howling Launcher in the Gundam’s direction.

Despite the relief Marlene felt at the moment, she did her best not to allow Cain to hear it in her voice. “Just… just what in the hell are you doing here?”

Cain chuckled again. “You should know, Marlene. I am never far from his Majesty’s side.”

Marlene froze. “His… his majesty?”

As if on cue, the Bawoo’s HUD chimed a new-contact indication. On the forward monitor popped up a window displaying a formation of three massive, red-clad ships, and the one in center was one that appeared all-too familiar.

The young Dark Star Knight felt short of breath. “Th-that’s…!” she choked out. “The Iron Lucifer…!”

***
The bridge of the Iron Lucifer was a scene of complete stoicism. Like a large, well-oiled machine, the multitude of ship operators, a crew consisting of both men and women, saw to their assignments in running the massive Gwadan class ship and saw to them flawlessly. After all, under the looming gaze of the masked Nova Prince, who stood at the rear of the bridge compartment observing all, nothing less was expected. As the battle drew nearer and nearer, the announcements of ship readiness being issued by the operators became more and more frequent.

“Catapults connected, capacitor operating at full capacity. Mobile suits commencing deployment.”

The Iron Lucifer was a ship that measured well over a thousand meters and bolstered a mobile suit accompaniment to fit. Even after the ship’s massive hanger bays had been modified to accommodate the Prince’s personal unit, the R-Gun Rivale, as well as several other special units, there was still room enough to harbor a massive force of just over fifty mobile suits, and more than half of them were the Fandom’s latest and greatest creation: the fearsome Geara Zulu. As the Iron Lucifer approached the Federation fleet from the rear, mobile suit after mobile suit was being launched from the ship’s large catapult array, and they quickly formed into tight-knit formations ahead of the massive vessel.

“Receiving transmission. Ananta, Lucifer II report all weapons and catapults primed.”

The Ananta and the Lucifer II were smaller Gwanban class vessels that accompanied the Iron Lucifer at her either flank. Though neither could be considered as intimidating as their big-sister vessel, they were most certainly not anything to be taken lightly either, especially with powerful weapon arrays and respectable mobile suit contingents of their own. They too deployed their mobile suits, sending them ahead of the formation to join the Iron Lucifer’s.

“Main battery charge commencing. Charge completion in t-minus oh-nine-seven seconds and counting.”

The Iron Lucifer’s main cannon was a weapon like no other. Bolstering power to match a Hyper Mega Particle Cannon if not surpass it, it granted the Iron Lucifer the ability to rip apart anything it had set its sights upon without fail. Once the weapon had finished charging and was fired, the Federation fleet was surely finished.

Iron Lucifer, battle preparations complete,” came the final announcement once everything was assured ready.

“Thus does our judgment approach, swift and unyielding, to crush all who impede the path to our glorious and luminous future,” came the Nova Prince’s booming voice. “Let all who stand against us know what fate awaits them. Defeat… destruction… and utter oblivion!”

The masked man cast his arm in a sweeping motion and extended it out towards the enemy ahead.

“All ships, commence attack. All cannons, fire!

The barrage that came next was entirely unprecedented -- wave after wave of powerful beams were sent at the Federation fleet as all three ships put their mighty cannons to good use and filled the space ahead of them with raw, pulsating energy.

***
“It has begun,” Cain remarked with satisfaction upon observing the barrage. He glanced back at Marlene. “Can you still fight, or shall I piggyback you all the way to the ship?”

Marlene responded by bashing the Rein Wessritter with the Bawoo’s shoulder and turning to face the Re-GZ once more, leveling her saber at the legless mobile suit in challenge. "I can manage just fine, thanks."

“Very well,” Cain chortled, slightly amused. He himself turned to face the Hi-Nu Gundam while priming his weapon. “I suppose I shall settle for you, then. Come. Show Cain just how far your abilities can take you!”
