TARRRPG Chapter 10: The Trinary Sea/Chapter 11 (Space)

- Theo Rawn, Grey Wolf at Lagrange Point 2 -

The Grey Wolf had arrived with her escorts and began to patrol the area around what was known as the Trinary Sea. It seemed that the pirates were after mostly supply convoys going through the area and when the next one came through, Rawn's task force would need to be ready to stop any pirate attacks that may occur.

Now to wait for our prey to arrive in our trap.

Necronomicon, Lagrange Point 2

The Necronomicon blazed straight into what was reportedly the territory of this new Pirate Guild that, after the fall of Trinary, rose not a moment too soon, moving into its airspace with the speed of a light cruiser --- remarkable for a Jupitris ship. On the bridge, Tuxedo Mask and Melodius Greye were back in their same positions, standing in front of the main viewscreens surrounded by SPARTANs. Tuxedo Mask was rubbing his chin; he and Melodius were analyzing the general map of Lagrange Point 2 outlined on the viewscreen.

"I still don't get why we're here, and why we aren't blasting everything here to smithereens." Tuxedo Mask protested. Melodius frowned derisively, rolling his eyes. "We've got the manpower, and the equipment. We're competing with them, for crying out loud; What's less for them is more for us. Why are we even here, Commander?"

"We are here because as Pirates, they have a role in the plot to play, TM." Melodius answered, turning his upper body left to glance at his XO. "They have their uses, as do the Fandom. And right now, the Pirates here are a determining factor --- how long they last is directly proportional to how far the Fandom can get with keeping the Federation and DC occupied in space. And besides, they have a common thorn in their backside now as we do, and it has to be addressed right away."

"What do you mean?"

"My Master has given me word that Thrawn's been assigned a new anti-piracy task force here. Equipped with a party of elite adventurers and all armed with +4 magic weapons --- or better. And Newtype Sorcerers loaded with Arcane Metamagic Feats." A pause. "And this guild is Thrawn's first target, a show of might to reestablish Federation credibility in this area and give them Morale Bonuses back. We cannot allow that to happen."

TM cocked an eyebrow upwards at that, wondering inwardly how Melodius and the 'Emperor' manage to communicate so quickly. "So we're going to help these guys take care of Rawn?"

"No, TM...we're going to take care of Rawn for them, give them time to get organized and do their thing, maybe go up a level or two. Now, why we're here?" Melodius walked back onto the Captain's chair and sat onto it gracefully. "So while we're taking care of Rawn for them, they won't decide to attack us and end up helping them escape with a Plot Contrivance. We need to get their permission to operate unanimously in this sector, and make sure there's no misunderstanding. We're here for Rawn --- no more, no less."

"And what makes you think they'll agree this time?"

"Then we'll just have to see what this Guild wants." Melodius shrugged; Indeed, that was the difficult part of getting the free passage Melodius and the Necronomicon would need --- gauging Gol Jem's reaction, playing to his own desires. And if Gol Jem decides that it was better to try his hand at destroying Melodius as well as Rawn at the same time, things would go south pretty quickly; Worse, Rawn would use that opportunity to turn the tables and critically wound both sides, and he was canny enough to exploit that. "But we must have free passage or this will be a Fool's Errand. Tuxedo Mask, contact Gol Jem at once, requesting an audience."

Tuxedo Mask bowed at that. No use arguing now --- grin and bear it. "Right away, Commander."

- Gol Jem, Zanzibar class ship Garahau -

Gol Jem was not the type of man you wanted to have angry about anything having to do with you as your lifespan seemed to grow shorter very quickly if it did.

As such being called away be an unknown party shortly before a major attack on a convoy did not put him in the best of moods.

As the masked man in the tuxedo showed up on the vidscreen Gol sneered at the man and said "Whoever you are I hope for your sake it is extremely important as I have much more urgent matters than to take a phone call from someone I've never met yet claims it to be worth my time to answer."

Necronomicon, Lagrange Point 2

"Evening, Mr. Jem," Melodius greeted with a casual wave, both a relaxed greeting and a sign that he does not fear Gol Jem. "I'll be brief, since you look rearing to go out there --- I'm Melodius Greye, of the Necronomicon. there's a Federation anti-Piracy task force heading your way, and they've targeted you as a show of might for the EFSF to reestablish Federation credibility in the area. Their numbers might not be all that much, but don't underestimate Theo Rawn; He's one of their most brilliant tactical minds, and he's confident and prepared to take you down despite his numbers.

"And I want him dead first. So here's what I called you for --- give my ship free and safe passage within your airspace, and I'll take care of Rawn's task force for you. This comes as no charge to you, as Rawn's my main target here. After I deal with him, I'll leave your airspace and you to do what you want."

Melodius paused. "So? How about it, Mr. Jem?"

- Gol Gem -

"Teh, I could care less what you do with yourself. And no Federation force would be able to stop us regardless of who leads it.
Just stay out of our way and don't even think about trying to attack us. I've been around long enough to know that if someone offers you something for free, they always have another reason for doing so. If your reason pushes in on our organization, you will not live long to regret it." With that, Gol cut the transmission with the Necronomicion.

Gol then left the room and returned to the bridge of his ship. The Federation convoy was due to pass through at any moment now where his forces were lying in wait for it. It was only general items such as food and spare machinery parts, but such items were the lifeblood of a space pirate. Both for his own use and to sell to others that had interest in what they had taken.

Wraith

Sterling might not be pleased with how the engagement ended but it had been a relatively successful battle. Over half of the rouge Lunar Corp fleet was floating as debris before him.

Sadly their losses were just as severe most of the ZAKU types and one of the Newtypes fell in the fray. They along with the mostly intact ships were returning to the Great Wall.

-Melodius-

"Very well." And screw you as well, Melodius inwardly spat as he switched off the link and turned back to the other SPARTANs working on their various workstations, professionally ignoring their Commander and doing what they had been assigned to do. So uncivilized, even for a Space Pirate. "Sonar, give me a list of all in-transit convoys, Federation or not, in the surrounding area, and a size if possible."

"Understood." Said SPARTAN answered, and turned back to Melodius after awhile. "There's a Federation convoy bearing 1-5-3, not too far away from our current position."

"Is that the only Federation convoy in the area?"

"Yes, sir."

"What're you thinking?" Tuxedo Mask inquired, pointing a finger.

"There's three possibilities we have to work with here." Melodius replied, rubbing his chin analytically. "If there's a Federation convoy here and it wasn't sent by Thrawn, Thrawn's task force will be forced to drop whatever it was in the middle of and go to its rescue if Gol attacks it, for the most part. In that case, things can go either way; Thrawn won't be completely prepared, but neither will Gol.

"The second is that Thrawn either sent the convoy, or is keeping tabs on it, which means that the convoy was bait set for the Guild. This is the best we can hope for, Tuxedo Mask. Thrawn will bring his full force to bear against the Guild, and won't be expecting us to be attacking or intercepting them. The element of surprise is to our side in that scenario.

"The third is that Thrawn sent the convoy, but," Melodius frowned. "It is a trap set for us, knowing that we'd pursue him with the express purpose of inciting chaos in the Outer Rim. That is the worst-case scenario because if we intercept Thrawn, he'll bring his force to bear on us instead --- and if Gol sees we're vulnerable decides to attack us anyway, we'll be fighting two fronts ourselves."

"So what does that mean, Commander?"

"It means we're going to have to scrap the original idea of running interference and wait to gauge Thrawn's true intentions in this sector." Melodius shook his head and walked away, towards the elevator to leave the bridge. "If needs be, I'll have to be the bait myself. There's a shoal zone at Square 4-E near that general path, Tuxedo Mask. Take the Necronomicon there and hide, prepare Shadow Company, and await my orders." Melodius paused and stopped just in front of the elevator door. "As soon as you get into the shoal, I'm going out in the Dezpada. Notify me when we get there --- I'll be in my quarters."

Faste Evist

Faste sat on the bridge of his ship; the vessel was one that he had received from the federation shortly before the fall of the Trinary. He had until then been on their payroll but now he was reconsidering his employment opportunities.

'The Federation and Fandom won't care for us once the war is over; we need to start preparing for that'

Faste was far from famous among pirates but he had a certain degree of sway among other pirates; some of this was from his Charisma, but there was no doubt he was a capable commander.

Faste had several men under his command; a crew and six other pilots beside himself. Each of the six piloted a Jegan which had each been customized to suit it's pilot's tastes. Each of the men had proved themselves capable in combat and, had they had mechs equal to most solders, might have shown themselves to be better than the average pilot

-Dragoons-

The two ship fleet finally exited Fold space at the coordinates given to them by the DC space forces. Both ships were damaged and their squads were demoralized severally from their previous encounter and the lose of the two Northhamptons. The larger stealth carrier issued a call to the ship that had called him here and the Captain waited until someone answered before speaking.

"This is the Captain of the Uraga class Redemption formally of the Lunar Corp Defense Forces. We have come looking for asylum after a disasterous encounter with a Fandom fleet." He spoke hoping these guys would understand them and given them sanctuary. They had many injured personal and wouldn't survive another encounter with anyone...

-Kyle-

He just sort of stood there in the background with a frown on his face. He figured this whole thing to be a failure. Hundreds of deaths were on his shoulders and every one of them cried around him. His own weakness had caused their demise and even if he knew the sort of damage he had caused to Wraith nothing could make him feel better. This sort of thing was his fault for pushing the leaving from the Federation... It was his fault everyone had to suffer like this. If he had just been a good soldier nobody would have had to deal with this and he would still be in Thrawn's fleet blistfully unaware of the conspiracy he had stuck his nose in. There was just too much for him to deal with going on and a vacation would do him well.

Faste Evist

As Faste was contemplating their future lot his coms officer spoke up.

"Sir we have a large Ship in the area. I looks to be the Necronomicon."

The Necronomicon was hard to miss; it's massive size meant it was rather easily distinguishable. It had also been a Pirate vessel for a period of time, though Faste himself had had no interaction with them.

"and?"

"well it seems they contacted Gol Jem.."

That was interesting; why would the Jupiterous which, according to recent rumors, had left the Pirate life behind contact Gol Jem.

"Did we get any of their conversation"

"not much I'm afraid they had some pretty good encoding and distance made things pretty garbled. but from what I could gather they want to attack that new federation task force."

'This I may have to investigate' Faste thought before making a decision.

"Set heeding to meet with them and make sure we're running a neutral ID code."

-Melodius-

Thirty minutes in, Melodius stomped onto the bridge after being notified of a neutral ship heading for them, and looked out the viewscreens to see a far smaller ship, at least compared to the Necronomicon --- seemingly holding little more than six or seven Mobile Suits. Compared to them, the Necronomicon held well over fifty Mobile Suits and this ship couldn't hope to outgun the larger, modified Necronomicon, but these seven Mobile Suits, Melodius frowned and stood at his usual place on the bridge, could still pose a problem. "Pirates, Commander?" Tuxedo Mask asked, lounging with legs crossed casually on the XO's chair.

Melodius nodded. "They have to be to be this brave, only seven MSes and one ship in the middle of Gon Jem's territory."

"What now?"

"Let's see what they want for now. Discreetly get the SPARTANs to Alert Status and man their Mobile Suits, Tuxedo Mask. On my word, lead the first wave in the Duraxyll." Melodius waved dismissively, causing Tuxedo Mask to stand, bow with a slight tinge of disdain, and walk towards the hanger. Melodius then signalled to another SPARTAN on the bridge, opening a communications channel while elsewhere on the ship a silent alarm rang, scrambling the SPARTANs onto their Mobile Suits at a moment's notice.

"Approaching ship, this is Melodius Greye, Operations Commander for the Necronomicon." Melodius greeted with far more etiquette than when dealing with Gon Jem. "How may I help you this evening?"

Faste Evist

Faste responded promptly to the hail.

"Greetings Sir Greye; My name is Faste Evist. I assume, from your presence that rumors of a change aboard the infamous Necronomincon are true."

Faste paused for a second.before continuing.

"I'm afraid me and my men are not the most polite of people and happened to overhear you were intending to do something about the Federation task force that has recently appeared in the area. If this is true I believe we may have mutual interests. If not I am sorry to trouble you."

-Melodius-

Melodius had to admit that Faste had him in a conundrum. There was no way to gauge Faste's true intentions --- he could be a spy for Gon, or for Rawn --- and with his force it was unlikely to make much of an effect on Rawn's task force or the Pirate Guild. If Melodius refused him, however, Faste was eligiable to storm off and tell his woe to any who would listen, or notify Rawn of the Necronomicon's presence out of spite. After a moment's pause, deep in thought, Melodius thought of what to do.

"I see, Mr. Evist, and I agree that the Federation Task Force here is of concern which must be dealt with somehow. Now, normally you are more than welcome to join us with open arms, and out here we can all use all the help we could get, of course." Melodius nodded. "But I am curious...what kind of hardware and personnel does your complement consist of? I must warn you that Theo Rawn's fleet consists of some of the best elite pilots in the EFSF; Are your men prepared to deal with that kind of firepower when we do run into Rawn?"

Melodius smiled to himself; That was the best he could hope for, to give Faste the option of choice. If Faste was prepared to deal with Rawn, all the better to have an ally in this sector; If not, Faste would be leaving of his own volition and nobody would laugh or make fun at him, allowing Faste to retain his pride.

Faste Evist

"I'm well aware his tactical power exceeds my own which is why I do not intend to act alone. I was until recently employed by the federation as a Privateer; It has however come to my attention that soon both the Fandom and Federation will not tolerate or support such activities. If the outer rim "pirates" can send Rawn packing then we can secure the area for our own. In doing so we can become a power of our own and ensure our general survival. The Guild does not think the Federation or Fandom is a threat to them and does not desire to act; myself and several others disagree. I would have acted with out your help anyway so joining with you would be of great benefit."

Faste paused to let his explanation sink in

"as for my own forces, they are mostly customized federation hand-me-downs but my pilots, and those of other pirates, are skilled enough to have them match many of the federation's newer units. I'm sure ,at this point Mr. Greye, you wonder what I could bring to the table that you don't have; I have, from my time as a privateer, Federation codes used to enter their ports, I am sure with these you could draw Rawn to a place of your choosing"

"That remains to be seen."

A pause.

"Very well, if you are prepared, then I welcome you with open arms. I doubt your ship can catch up to the Necronomicon at flank speed, because time is of the essence," Melodius emphasized heavily. "So feel free to dock with the Necronomicon in the meantime for co-ordination."

"Understood Mr Greye I thank you in advance for your aid"

with that Faste cut communications and ordered his men to dock the vessel with the Necronomicon.

Having gotten back onto the ship once again before a space fold Aiden was sitting quietly in his Phantoma's cockpit. Sitting there, he determined it was time that he'd go out in the hanger. The Phantoma along with the AI was offline so he opened the hatch manually, enjoying the silence. Among exiting the mech he looked around to see if he could find that Kyle from before. He soon got started looking around the ship for any signs of the guy.

The Steel Dragon had made it halfway towards Earth, thinking back on several things. First being the supposed 'Death' of his son. Second was the reason he was called back into service. The Gundam Team... Byakuya thought, Who... ?! An awkward feeling shot through him, he turned towards a mysterious cluster of asteroids. I'll... go take a look. Byakuya thought as he flared up the Tau Drive and sped in the direction of the cluster feeling as though something were calling out to him.

The figure hidden amongst the shadows of the asteroids watched as Byakuya and his Advanced GN-X made its way to the Dark Star Knight's gathering place. Once it drew near, he opened up a COM line to the mobile suit.

"So... you have come, Byakuya Kamiya," he said, his voice low and barely above a whisper.

"..." He was silent for a moment, then replied, "You're the one who summoned me here, I take it." He said over the COM. "Mind telling me where I am?" He asked after making it to the asteroid cluster and towards a weird looking asteroid that had a buch of columns surrounding it. "I'm guessing you're the famous Nova Prince?" He asked over the com waiting for an answer.
