TARRRPG Chapter 5: African Assault pt. 2

Tactical data flashed before his eyes on the visor absolutely driving Kyle nuts. He was starting to get annoyed with the extra stuff the EX-gear was equip with and he really just wanted to get this over with. There was a nagging voice in the back of his head saying that he needed to get ready and get ready fast. Kyle wasn't a light weight and had been in the military for many years. His training had started out in the Federation Air Force and he had the privilege to be a Combat Controller so his survival skills as well as combat skills were pretty top notch comparable to other special forces. The problem was he was in an environment he wasn't trained for with equipment had hadn't used.

Finally he arrived at an airlock and his visor was picking up life behind it. This must be his foe... but something felt wrong. Why was the guy waiting for him? He leveled his rifle and moved his hand to open the door... Sweat beads trickled down his face as it opened up with him starting the new game with a three shot burst at the location his visor was telling him the enemy was at. He was ready for anything, or so he thought...

Wraith

Wraith reacted quicker than any "human" opponent kyle ever had or ever would face. a tiny bust of air from the Vernier sent Wraith upwards and spun him so he was now touching the "ceiling" he pushed off immediately and headed for the right wall.

this would would be fun. it had been far too long since he had fought seriously in these conditions.

Grinding his teeth Kyle realized just how difficult this was going to be. His enemy evaded gunfire like it was nothing and that very thought irritated him. Not one to be outdone he he crouched down to steady himself and fired two bursts. The first one was leading the enemy's push from the wall. He made a quick assumption based off his knowledge of physics in space and knew the only way the enemy would avoid a bullet was to change direction to either side. He didn't think the enemy would pull some mid air flip over the bullets and aimed the second shot to the back of his first thinking the enemy would just reverse first to prevent flying into the path of the first burst.

Then pushing off himself he used his EX-gears small thrusters to push him parallel of his foe's movements just he was below. He knew if he kept his distance the enemy's backpack would not provide enough thrust to let him in close range before Kyle could react.

-Outside-

The battle continued in a relative stalemate for now. Lunar Corps's defense force was proving to be tougher than they appeared but it was only an amount of time before it turned. From inside the main office someone sent a distress signal to the Federation fleet nearby that had tangled with the Fandom mother ship. Hopefully it would go through for all their sakes as well as that of the newest prototype Stealth VFs.

Wraith

the enemy wasn't bad but he was clearly unused to man to man combat in Zero-G. Wraith avoided the first set of bullets by using his Vernier to nudge himself upwards and made contact with the wall above their impact points the second burst passed harmlessly 'over' him before pushing off towards the other wall and closer to Kyle he would use a simple Zigzag to approach Kyle His Vernier would be saved for evading bullets.

He watched his enemy movements and realized he was trying to approach quickly. There was no way he was entering close quarters against a man with a sword... No matter how well he thought he could fight there was just some things you didn't do. This meant trying a new tactic.

With his feet on the ground he engaged the part of wheels on the boots and as the enemy came at him Kyle moved the opposite way. Then once he had put enough distance again he twisted and zipped around to the side of the room and horizontally left of Wraith. A zig zag was ineffective when the opponent had its gun aimed at you as you zigged in his direction. Lining up he fired a single shot at Wraith from the side and high in order to prevent Wraith from going over it. Then he fired a second shot low in prevent going under it. If he timed things well he could force the enemy to use up all its propellant and prevent it from moving period. But at this point he was keeping out of close combat and using his ammo wisely. He only had one extra clip and his pistol so he had to be careful.

Wraith

Wraith was now headed straight towards Kyle. The man had "cornered" himself. Wriath used his legs and arms like a mech would use AMBAC to roll as the first bullet passed under him. Wraith used his Vernier to accelerate as the second passed harmlessly by.

Cornered himself? Did this guy really think Kyle hadn't figured out how to pull similar tricks? As the enemy came closer Kyle thrusted up and then using his legs as a springboard he quickly boosted over the Fandom guy and then from behind he twisted around and fired in full auto mode from directly behind. Despite the fact he would burn his clip he sprayed the entire area on and around the ninja like Wraith to get some sort of hit.

Then he reloaded and pressed a button on his arm sending a signal into the base letting them know that there was an intrusion into the base. "Sorry a-hole but I have more important things to do than play with you." The service tunnel was then closed off behind them cutting them from the inside of the base. Lockdown had occurred and there was no way of leaving this hallway but the way they came in.

Spinning around he hit his thrusters and headed back towards his machine at top speed. He planned to finish this fight the only way he knew... level this entire tunnel down around this Wraith fellow. Ninja skills wouldn't save him here.

Wraith

Kyle had tried to spay Wraith but it turned out it hadn't worked. Wraith had grab Kyle's leg as he passed over him and let his cape loose so Kyle would think he had hit when He turned and fired. However when Kyle did turn and fire Wraith drew his Sword and stabbed upward. Kyle was no longer dangerous...

Yet again luck saved the test pilot. As he sword came up he managed to catch it in between the sight bar that looked like an arc over the top of the rifle barrel. A smile appeared as Kyle realized what had happened and pushed his rifle up letting the sword slide up harmlessly and then with a twist of the rifle he caught the sword and attempted to wring it from his foes hand.

He knew this wasn't over yet and continued to try and gain momentum in the fight. He pushed forward with the sword still trapped and the blade to long to pull out in their current situation. Quickly he attempted to twist rifle so that the barrel pointed right at Wraith and then pulled the trigger.

perhaps if there had been air in the room and Kyle didn't have his ears covered he would have realized how dangerous Wraith's blade was. as it was there was no way Kyle could hear the hum of the vibrating sword.

His attempts to jar it from Wraith's hands had not only proved futile but had caused the blade to sink into the Rifle ruining it. Wraith was holding on with ease even in EX-GEAR Kyle would find Wraith was a strong opponent.

With the rifle ruined Wraith drew his sword back and thrust again this time at Kyle's chest.

This guy was something else... The blade cut through his rifle but it wasn't over. Survival took over... Something snapped inside as he instinctively reved up the wheels in his boots and with a push using them to cut into the hand that held him tight. And these spinning wheels were then jammed in as he twisted to avoid being skewered by the vibrating sword. It just went right by his chest as he brought his other foot and its spinning wheels down in an axe kick right on top of Wraiths head to chew through the mask and expose Wraith to the terror of space and Zero oxygen.

"LET ME GO!" He screamed into the depths of space as he drew his side arm and fired the entire clip at Wraith from point blank before he could bring the sword around to retaliate on him again. The thrusters on his EX-gear was also blazing away as Kyle tried to escape with all his might from the grasp of this monster.

Wraith

The wheels would spin but cutting through Wraith's armor wasn't that easy it would take several seconds; time Kyle wouldn't have. when the Kick came Wraith changed his stab into a slice that would cut through Kyle's kicking leg from above. If Kyle kept putting pressure on Wraith he would eventually wear through the helm or the hand but long before that Kyle's leg would find itself a good deal shorter.

He only had time to jamb the heel of his wheels into the sword in order to avoid losing his leg. Of course the vibration weapon would cut through and and destroy the leg armor of his EX-Gear. But Kyle had his pistol out and still unload the clip of 45cal armor piercing rounds into the chest of Wraith. He was willing to lose bits of himself in order to escape and he hoped the gamble would work for him. His thrusters had been dragging the two across the room but in his furious attempt to escape he hadn't looked back. His body crashed into the back of the wall as he continued to fire.

"I can't die here... Damnit this isn't fair... LET ME GO!" He was still screaming but this time it was in his head as he tried his best to escape from this dire situation. He should have never left his Valk... He should have never have given chase. Was this impulsive behavior the reason Kayla had died? Was he destined to die next?

- Ceres -

It wasn't long before word of what happened spread throughout the ship. Some were worried about more spies, and others were wondering what one was doing on board a brand new ship in the first place.

Likewise the body and head of the late Dr. Pyshtek had been removed and the infirmary cleaned up, although a somewhat sicking smell still lingered despite the use of industrial cleaners in the area.

Meanwhile the ship continued on towards her destination in southern California and would arrive in a matter of hours.

- Maarek Stele, Outside Lunar Corps -

Stele and the first wave of Jegans had arrived on the battlefield and began engaging the enemy suits.
The upgraded Jegans were having a significant effect against the slower GuAIZ units although the mobile doll versions were giving them much more trouble than the manned versions.

Through it all, Maarek managed to get a communication to the control center of the asteroid.
"This is Lt. Maarek Stele of the Federation warship Grey Wolf we are here as requested to assist you."

-Juuso Eljas-

Eljas had waited until the bulk of the Lunar Corp forces where engaged with Raven's fleet before sending his own forces to engage. While the Federation interference was unwelcome, it was not unexpected. He sent his 20 ZAKU's to deal with them by destroying the ships with their Gunner variants. The GN-Xs and Dragoons would sortie with him. The fleet of 12 Musaka's and the Merciless opened fire as support.

Siting in his Falguen he watched as the 9 Dragoons on board his flagship launched ahead of him. His clearance finally came, he gunned the thrusters and rocketed forward, quickly catching up to the other Metal Armors. They were quickly spotted by a group of the new variable fighters, who unleashed a hail of micro-missiles at the group. The jammer's mounted in all the MA's kicked in and thee missiles veered harmlessly around them. Unfortunately, the GN-Xs were not so lucky. One was destroyed and another three other lost various limbs.

The Fandom Armors retaliated with their own missiles. Several of the more experienced pilots shot down the incoming missiles, other where shot down as their machines were impacted by several missile hits. Eljas himself, using the missiles as a distraction, had closed with the fighter group and cut two in Battroid mode down with his laser sword. As the groups closed the Armors used their hand railguns to fill the space between them with hot lead. The superior speed of the Valkyries was telling against the Dragoons and GN-Xs. The reinforced armor of all the units rendered bullet fire all but useless against the Valkyries, but the close combat potential of the Fandom suits proved the upper hand, the laser swords and beams sabers cutting through the lighter Valkyries.

The GN particle-infused armor of the GN-X saved them from being badly damaged, and the LC pilots unfamiliarity with Metal Armors saved most of them from destruction though four lost their rail cannons or various other limbs.

Eljas sent the Dragoons to take on the defense frigates engaging the Knights fleet. He took the five remaining GN-Xs toward the asteroid itself. The defense mechs and turrets were easy enough to avoid for the agile Fandom mechs. The Destroids were dispatched with thrusts of sabers, the emplacements taken out using the GN-Xs long rifles. The combined assault with the mobile dolls was overwhelming.

-Dragoons-

The Dragoon team had moved on to the defense monitors protecting the asteroid, already taking out one with their 460mm railcannons with plasma ammunition. The Astray suits, while not built for combat, were dangerous in numbers. The GuAIZ R's were stretched to there limit keeping them busy.

-ZAKU Teams-

The ZAKU teams had organized themselves into teams of four with a Gunner variant in each one. The plan was to tie up any suits with the Slash and Blaze types and take out the cruisers with the Gunners.

However, the ZAKUs were outclassed by the upgraded Jegan models and were unable to gain any kind of advantage as the second wave launched from the Rawn fleet managed to throw their formation into disarray as the faster and more maneuverable Jegans tore apart ZAKU after ZAKU while taking only minimal damage at worst.

Even Juuso's fleet was in trouble. Among the third wave of mobile suits launched were several GM Dynames escorted by an equal number of Jegans.
The first Musaka never knew what hit her as the GN particle beams came from relative above and tore through the small cruiser, easily destroying it.
The second one did not fare much better as the force was turning all their force on a single target to eliminate the enemy ships as quickly as possible one at a time. This also had the benefit of allowing all of the Jegans to cover them instead of themselves being spread out and less effective in their defense of the GM Dynames units.

Juuso's own mobile weapon forces would find themselves in trouble as well. The first wave launched from the Federation ships had reached the defense line and began engaging the enemy metal armors. Unlike the missiles used by the Thunderbolts, the missiles used by the Jegans were more shielded against jamming as they were made to operate in a minovsky particle environment. Thus 4 Dragoons fell while standing still trying to decoy the incoming missiles.

And then there was their leader, Maarek Stele, who charged Juuso's unit himself and catching two GN-Xs by surprise and destroying them. He then positioned himself between Juuso's Falguen and the Lunar Corp base and sent a message to the Fandom commander.
"YOU SHALL NOT PASS!"

[dreacon]

Dreacon looked over his controls as they came online, checking every detail. His Gundam was still not fully armed with fins, but the 4 he'd managed to find on the Grey Wolf would have to do, it would be his first battle in this Gundam, so he wanted to be ready. "This is Big Boss, Requesting Permission to launch." he said after he opened a chanel to the bridge.

- Grey Wolf bridge -

"Permission granted. Assist the Lunar Corp garrison forces and clear out enemy mobile weapons." was the reply to Dreacon's launch request.

It was now time to see how the newcomer would perform in a large scale battle.

Dreacon looked up at his HUD as he gave his Gundam full thrust. He shot out of the Grey wolf and rolled as he Detached his Funnels, he used simple thoughts to control them, he told them to target anyone giving off hostility twords the Wolf and almost instantly four Zakus exploded.

He decided his course of action for no would be to work on the smal fries untill a "Boss" took notice of him, it should work to cause anger confusion and of course his favorite, Chaos. He searched through the sea of radio signals with his codec untill he found the signals used by the fandom, this ould give him, and the crew of the Grey wolf an advantage, he set his codec to relay any transmissions he picked up from the fandom back to the wolf.
He saw another few Zakus explode due to his Fins. He smiled coldly and thought for a moment.
"The God of Chaos is back from hell."

-Juuso-

Juuso's force was in disarray as the Federation reinforcements rolled over his ZAKU teams. Many where destroyed though two Clops were taken down as a price. The blue-and white suit challenging him had picked a bad time. Juuso pushed his MAFFU craft to full and fired his remaining missiles at the Federation pilot. He made a barrel roll to the left and shot past the suit and turned and emptied his 75mm railgun into the suit before charging in with his laser sword.

The five remaining Dragoons where recalled to defend the fleet and came in high on the relative Z-axis and fired there railcannons loaded with HE ammo. The made defensive maneuvers and fired the missiles at the Federation suits mobbing the Musakas. They were joined by the two remaining GN-Xs who rushed at the Jegans from 'below' and tore apart one each with their beam sabers.
