OOC: Alright, after these coupla RPs, I'll start writing the RP that'll fast-forward us to leaving-time :3

IC:
- Alexandria-class Kirov -
- Corridor -

Leandro drew out a whistle in apparent praise of Grace's claim to downing four mobile suits. The girl was dumb, but she sure wasn't stupid. There was something about the way she spoke, the way she chose her words, that made Leandro want to laugh out loud, but he figured it would wreck the mood.

Realizing he was nearing his own quarters, Leandro stopped his gripper and pushed himself over to gripper-borne Grace. Stopping himself against the bulkhead at a point that placed himself perhaps a little too close to the new girl, at least considering they'd introduced themselves to each other only moments ago, Leandro pointed his right thumb to his own chest and said, "Listen, chica, I know these heavy cruisers are confusing, so if your pretty head needs any help getting around or anything, you ask me, okay? Half the people on this ship, they're crazy. With me, you know there's at least one guy who isn't crazy or nothing."

With that, he pushed the bulkhead toward the door to his own quarters. "This is where I stop, friend. I'll see you around, though you're welcome inside whenever." He let out a long laugh as he closed the door, presumably to let that last clause come off as merely kidding.

- Mobile Suit Bay -

Sven's question about the fighting ability of the AEUG pilots sent a sudden, yet brief, flash through Wolf's memories.

"Their pilots are a mix," he replied, his eyes a mile away, "Most are what you'd expect from a paramilitary rebel group - clueless amateurs. You get some that are deadly, though, so don't make the mistake of underestimating any of them.

"As for these Marasais, they're sturdy and get the job done. No doubt you've heard about the AEUG's Rick Dias. These Marasais are a match for them. Really, the only meaningful edge the Dias has is greater weapons variety. Goes without saying that the common Nemo is a step down from these."

Regardless, Sven's question about AEUG pilot skill had triggered a flashback in Wolf's memory to that day over a month ago, when his little sister died at the hands of that blue Rick Dias.

Natural affinity for a common destiny aside, Wolf figured he wanted to shake off Sven for a moment. "If you've never sortied in a Marasai, familiarize yourself with it now. The cockpit layout isn't the same as on a Hizack or GM. We don't have time now, but once the taskforce sets out we'll run a few patrol flights and get you familiar with its character."

-

~ over a month earlier, two days after the fight in the Side 2 shoals

In the Commodore's office aboard the Kirov, Wolf stood tall before his father's desk after having traded formalities.

"I have an idea of why you're here, Wolf," murmured the Commodore, "But if you would do the honor of either confirming or denying..."

"Father, who the hell is Ashlyn?"

"We talked about him before, son. He's a traitor."

"But there's more. He was closer than most get. He taunted me out there by talking about Mstislav. He said he was his replacement. No doubt that was fabrication, but clearly this man knows more than I expected."

The Commodore sighed, then stood from his seat and clasped his hands behind his back. "Wolf, if you truly want to know about Ashlyn, I will tell you. The fact is that Friedrich Ashlyn was my mistake. I met him during the war. Over the months we served, he became a son to me in the same way Alexi is a daughter to me. He came to work for the family destiny with full conviction. He was a man who could be trusted as our eyes and ears in ManHunter.

"I don't know why he turned against us, but he did, just months ago. He severed all ties and threw in his lot with the AEUG. If he wishes to kill me, he's certainly welcome to try it. You and I both know - firsthand even - that our destiny transcends mere individuals. Ashlyn, meanwhile, is one mere man, and a traitor, at that. You know what happens to traitors and deserters, son."

"They die," said Wolf flatly, "Anybody possessing such weak will and a corrupted mind can only be crushed under the feet of true leaders."

"Indeed. Such is the case with Ashlyn. He betrayed the family, Wolf. He was like a son to me once, but I feel neither regret nor pity over swatting away a traitorous dog."

"Of course," agreed Wolf, "And what of his claim of being Mstislav's replacement?"

"As you figured, his comment was no more than an exaggeration in an attempt to taunt you; common resort of the pathetic. Ashlyn might have been a son to me, but nobody - nobody - can replace Mstislav. Or Mercedes, for that matter. They will live forever through us."

It was at that moment that Wolf felt the most profound guilt of his life, but that's another matter entirely.

Regardless, he overcame the shame that comes with living to say, "And their sacrifice makes us stronger."

~Over 12 Hours Later

- Near Gryps Colony -
- Taskforce Echo -

The Kirov sailed elegantly into vast space, its four escort cruisers following in formation. Unlike its last voyage from Gryps, Echo was returned to its original purpose: autonomous patrolling and raiding. Trent had chosen a course already, and now his taskforce was off to fish for any soft AEUG targets it could find.

- Alexandria-class Kirov -
- Corridor -

As soon as the Kirov left port, Alpha Team had been called into its ready room. Leandro figured Stukov wanted to size up his newly-assigned pilot. That meant that Leandro himself didn't need to be in any particular hurry.

Leandro wondered idly as to how some unfortunate, uninitiated newcomer would have to sit awkwardly and alone in a room with Ltcmdr. Stukov.

- Wolf Ritter's Quarters -

Wolf had spent much of the long leave on Gryps colony itself. During the handful of times when he was on the ship, he'd expected at least some form of commentary from Nick regarding what happened to Mercedes, or even regarding Alexandra's reassignment.

Beta Team's commanding officer learned only recently from Tariq that this was due in no small part to Nick having spent the entire month in the Kirov's infirmary. Why that red-eyed psychopath was still on the active pilot roster was beyond Wolf. He wondered if the snake had even met his two new subordinates.

Regardless, the man who hated Wolf so strongly (a feeling that was certainly mutual) lay in a hospital bed, effectively incapacitated as far as Wolf understood it. The temptation to walk into the infirmary and see a sickly Nick Te'litha was powerful, but Wolf decided against it. If it was indeed Nick's time to die, then Wolf wouldn't worry himself over it.Otherwise, Wolf would take care of what ravaged biology failed to do.

- Salamis Kai-class Herakles -
- Main Bridge -

The bridge was newly constructed from the ground up, which meant it was irritatingly spotless. That suited Ltcmdr. Isaac Berg just fine. Cleanliness meant perfection.

The Herakles was Echo's second-to-last vessel to leave port, what with the Ipswich trailing just to port stern.

"Our mobile suit team is first on the patrol rotation, isn't it?" mused Berg aloud. When info officer Kanyanee Malaiwong confirmed this, Berg said, "Right then. Tell Roberts to get his men together and launch for patrol once in gear."

~Kirov hangar~

When Nick was FINALLY released from sick bay (having been dragged back there by several nurses under orders from Trent) he decided that the best course of action was to, at the very least, gather his team members; he knew nothing about them, and wasn't about to let another Ritter assassin attempt to do him in. Besides, even if they were video games, it wouldn't hurt to do at least ONE simulator training.

He was distinctly ignoring the possibility that he was trying desperately to distract himself.

So Nick found himself in the hangar, dialing his password he received as a team leader over the inter-com.

"THIS LIEUTENANT NICK TE'LITHA. ALL MEMBERS OF GAMMA TEAM REPORT TO THE HANGAR IMMEDIATELY!"

(Once again none of them post... I'm ordering air for another post)

The order came down that they were first on patrol. That didn't sound too bad but then again a patrol could turn into a scrimish if things didn't go well. It didn't matter, he had faith in the team even if they were slightly fractured and what not. Once combat started and peoples lives were at stake they team would pull together to survive.

"Alright guys and gals lets get suited up. We're on patrol first so you know the drill. Once your suited up launch and we shall all meet off the port side of the ship. Any questions ask me out there." He ordered through a communicator since not everyone was in the same place. He took his own order and headed towards the locker room quickly to find his flight uniform. It was dark unlike the white one he had in the EFSF and while foreign to him at first once he put it on it felt right again. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad... Yeah he could really do this.

Once suited up Kyle made his way to the Hizack that belonged to him. The unit was outfitted just as he had asked, he had a beam rifle and the heat hawk on the back. (Hope thats alright, I just prefer range to melee) Once ready he mounted up and activated the systems. Lights shown around him as the panoramic monitors light up and his linear seat was ready. Once everything was a go he stepped the Zaku like machine out onto the linear catapult.

"Kyle Roberts, ready for launch." With that his unit was thrown into space where he immediately twisted around using the verieners and headed for the port of the ship to wait for his team to arrive.

Alex heard the intercom go off "All pilots to hanger, first patrol has been ordered meet on port side." Already close by to the hanger he went to the locker room and suited up, he felt it was odd that he was the only one in the room but didn't think much of it. Alex zipped up his black suit and headed towards the hanger he can hear the sound of the catapult going off which means a MS just launched.

Striding into the hanger he looked up at his Hizack all polished and repaired from the last battle. Upon entering his cockpit he felt a sense of anxiety of this patrol knowing it can turn ugly....fast.
"Oh well....Lets go Hizack! Ens. Lepak ready for launch!" Alex's hizack sped into space with a quick jolt of his thrusters he met hi new CO on the port side.
"This is no Zaku boy! No Zaku!!!"

Ens. Cara Shiranui, her back ridiculously perfectly straight, closed the hatch for her Hizack. Her stomach turned just from hearing Kyle and Alex launch. There was still one other Hizack yet to launch. If Cara remembered correctly, it was that one guy with the weird name.

She tried not to dwell on the fact that this was her first time flying with these people she'd barely met. After downing some of her medication, she managed to keep her voice steady as she contacted Constantine's Hizack: "Please, sir. After you."

Cara immediately rolled her eyes, a sort of mental forehead-slap at the absurdity of what she'd just said.

Shifting in his cockpit, Sven moved his manual over to his right knee. He had been here for the last three hours. After being dismissed by Wolf, he had gone back to his quarters and moved in. He had fallen asleep and slept right through the ship leaving. He had only been awakened after a familiar dream had crept up onto him. After waking up he had immediately gone to the hangar and taken his CO’s advice of familiarizing himself with the Marasai.

Thinking back to their earlier discussion on suites and pilots Sven hadn’t been to please at what he heard. So the Rick Dias is that good? Well I will just have to try harder. And their pilots aren’t half bad? Well I will just treat them all as aces.

He had half expected to run into his team in the hangar after Wolf had informed him they would fly patrol. He also had as of yet to meet the third pilot a Lt, he hadn’t caught the name. He knows not of the Destiny I will have to watch what I say around him. Shifting again in the seat he turned a page and began to read about the Marasai’s weapon capabilities.

Wolf had been right; the Marasai was drastically different from anything he had ever sat in before. The entire control scheme was different, along with the cockpit. Sven’s stomach grumbled, “Guess I should go to whatever passes for a mess hall.” Mumbled Sven to no one in particular.

Sighing, Sven got up from his seat, grabbed his manual and kicked out into the hangar. The area was relatively quiet from the chaos that had engulfed it before departure. Perhaps he would find Wolf at the mess hall, and enquire as to when he could get some practice time in his Marasai.

A perplexed soul sleeps and dreams of glorious victory and plentiful riches, his name known throughout the solar system. But all that vanishes as Jason awakens kissing the ceiling. He wildly pushes off trying to gain some sort of balance.

Ahhh, my ..head

The hangover fades when Jason realizes the fleet is en route to its next destination.

"When in the hell did I get into pilot gear??"

"THIS LIEUTENANT NICK TE'LITHA. ALL MEMBERS OF GAMMA TEAM REPORT TO THE HANGAR IMMEDIATELY!"

"An attack?! Good. Time to earn some pay."

The announcement kicks starts the drowsy Titan from his haze as he grabs his helmet floating nearby and hurries out the door.

Once in the hanger it's not hard to miss the Lieutenant with white hair. For a second Jason could have swore he saw a black glow emanating from the lieutenant. He rubbed his eyes cursing the poison he drank at Gryps.

finally, it's about time to meet the person everyone's so worried about...

Jason lands infront of Nick in full salute with a helmet under his arm.

"Ltjg. Jason Drossel, gamma team reporting, sir"

With a polite, well mannered voice and a half bow in his seat (complete, of course, with his arm across his chest), Pendragon responds to Cara’s request.

“If you insist.”

Constantine had hoped on being the last one to leave, but it really doesn’t matter to him. With a few manipulations of his controls, he sends the Hizack, equipped with Shield, 120, and saber, onto the lift that takes him and it to the launch deck.

“Pendragon, launching.”

Pendragon’s voice is rather dispassionate in the few seconds before he is whisked into the eternal night. The light-on-dark green giant humanoid war machine banks around to move into formation with the rest of his team. With eager intent, he watches his newest teammate take off. With any luck, she will not be the disappointment that the other two turned out to be. Hopefully, she can be one he can trust.

As the Hizacks started to gather all that was left was the girl that had finally decided to make her appearance. He hadn't gotten a chance to speak to her yet but he would make sure too. Better cut the head from the venomous snake before Pendragon infected her with his cynicism and what not. This was his squad and he planned to shape it into the best fighting force that he could.

In the past few days after the talk with Alex he felt rather different. Now he actually wanted to be team leader and he wanted to prove his worth. Maybe it was a pride thing but he had no intention of letting this team down or any of them perishing. Quickly as they waited he used the controls on the linear cockpit to bring up a map of the surrounding area. Then with a few touch controls he started to create a perimeter around the area that would be the most efficient to patrol. It included a look at some suspicious areas that could hide enemy units. Then once he was done he planned to send it to the team so that they knew the route they were taking, just in case someone got left behind. Hopefully no one was that newbish...

Opening a comm link with Alex's unit Kyle decided to make his move on the psychological battlefront. "Hey Alex I have a favor to ask of you. You know Pendragon has been acting rather funny here lately. I want you to watch him. I hope hes mature enough to not let something petty get in the way of the team, but just in worst case senerio I want you to tell me. If you decline this request on a personal basis then I understand, I just want to make sure this all goes off without a hitch and if we do run into trouble that we can all come back alive. I did promise you that I would get us all home in the end didn't I?" He asked this on a personal line that only he could hear. Kyle didn't want interuptions or ease-droppers. That would not be good.

Cara mentally groaned as Constantine apparently mocked her faux pas, but outwardly she maintained the posture of the perfect little soldier.

As her Hizack went up on the lift to the launch catapult, Cara downed some of her motion-sickness medication, then shut her helmet visor.

"Right. Ensign Cara Shiranui, Hizack launching!"

Cara clenched her jaw as her green machine was shot into space. Her stomach twisted and untwisted, but in the end maintained. After hitting her verniers to retain control, Cara got her bearings and moved in toward the rest of her team.

Someone Nick probably didn't expect to arrive after his announcement was none other than Taskforce Echo's information officer, Tariq Sayed. He slunk in, nearly invisible, just shortly behind Jason.

"I'm certain, Lt. Te'litha," said Tariq smoothly, "That you'll have no problem with me observing this meeting of yours, will you?"

Alex joined his team on the port side of the ship and for the first time noticed that the new member was among them after Pendragon showed up. Then a message came over his radio and it was Roberts with a special request for the Titan pilot.

"Sir, I know what your talking about, I know that Pendragon isn't the most aggreable of people but he is not himself lately. Dont you worry sir I'll keep an eye on him." Alex gave a thumbs up in his pilots chair then closed the personal line.

Kyle gave a nod and a thank to Alex for his cooperation. For some reason he felt much better now that he had gotten that out of the way. Plus the new girl arrived so it was show time for their first patrol together. He opened up a line with them all and did his team leader thing.

"Alright team patrol time. I've already mapped out our patrol and the most recent recon of the area. I'm sending it to you now." With that the map and data arrived to them. This seemed rather much for a simple patrol but he preferred to be overprepared than over. "I have our flight path outlined on that map and I made sure that we through the areas that were suspicious. Also I want to set out squad line of communication to channel 204 on the short wave radio. There isn't much interference out here so it won't be a problem. Make sure to avoid chatting about important things such as positions and what not. If we run into static somewhere along the way thats a good sign that there is an enemy unit.

"If we do run into trouble I want use to form into a diamond position with me up front and Cara in the back. This will be our flight formation too but for combat I want us all to be able to focus fire on a single target at a time for an easier kill. If we do have to split up I want Alex to come with me and Pendragon to be with Cara. That means one unit will be the close combat unit and the other will provide fire support. Just don't spread your attention to wide or waste ammo." He spit all the pre-operation stuff out like he had been doing this for a long time. It just felt easy once he got into it and it increased his confidence as a team leader. Now it was time to move out.

"Alright guys time to start." With that his unit took lead and started off through space.

Kirov Kitchen, and then Hangar

Inside the kitchen of the Kirov, Patrick could be seen peeling potatoes with a member of the kitchen staff. The person he was with noticed his lack of intellect and pretty much tricked him into helping her. When someone with a very hard name to pronounce demanded that Gamma form up at the hangar, he looked at her almost asking her permission to go.

Almost bewildered, she decided to let him go simply because he wasn't very helpful, because he took 5 minutes to peel one potato. Since the ship had already set sail, Miller , as usual, couldn't control his movements and crashed and knocked over so many things on his way out of the kitchen that it almost seemed intentional. When the hurricane known as Patrick left the kitchen, he left a small mess that would need to be cleaned.

As with the kitchen, Patrick's movements in the hallways of the Kirov could be described as oafish and clumsy. The constant thud could be heard as he derailed into the walls, ceiling, and floor of the ship. When he did make it to the hangar, the large amount of free space allowed him safety from further collisions, but also the nuisance of not having a way to guide himself down.

Without being able to sustain himself and control his position, Miller saluted and reported to pretty much everyone by exclaiming "Ensign Patrick Miller of Gamma Team, reporting." If there was one thing Miller did remember after his injury, it was that if you were confused on who to report to, just state your team and someone will either answer or direct you.

Looking perplexed at the Deck Chief, Aaron said with a sigh, "What do you mean we aren't launching yet?" He had his normal suit on and his helmet sealed in a matter of minutes and had his Hi-Zack all set to go when he soon realized that they weren't launching just yet.

"Look Ensign, your team hasn't been ordered to launch yet."

"Damn it!" Was the only thing he could think to say in response. He was anxious to get out into space again with a mobile suit, but it looked as if he'd have to wait until the Lieutenant gave the order.

Nick didn't look at Jason at first, but over him at the information officer; Nick was honestly...confused, giving the man the queerest of looks.

"W-who...in the flying blue hell are you? I know for a fact that you aren't pilot with those skimpy ass arms, so you can't possibly be on my team. You aren't a mechanic, or have the look of someone even remotely useful, so kindly do everyone a favor and tell me why you're here, or get the hell out before you get someone killed."

Nick turned and looked at the other man up-and-down.

"So...name and years of combat experience?"

So Nick didn't read the file; so what? He never did. He'd find out what he need to know in a bit....which was when he heard....a different voice.

"Ensign Patrick Miller of Gamma Team, reporting."

Nick turned and looked over to see a man much larger than himself, and Te'litha was a fairly big man. It was also obvious that this man suffered from certain...problems.

"Oh Christ...belay that order, get him over here," he told Jason, pointing at Patrick.

Kirov Mess Hall

"Les Miserables...?" Gilliarme suddenly said from her right, sitting down opposite her and eyeing the gigantic novel that Sam seemed to be merely holding in her hands, hoping nobody would bother her. She didn't seem to have chosen well, from the looks of how Samantha didn't seem to like that one a single bit; Gilliarme didn't fault her, shrugging to himself. There might've been a movie and a musical made after it, but very few people in the Universal Century read that particular novel that made Victor Hugo famous --- much less truly appreciate Les Miserables. The Titans probably thought it was a 'politically correct' book given that the AEUG happened to be playing Enjolras' role as the Student Revolutionaries, pretty much, hence why it was in the random selection. It was just Sam's luck that Gill happened to be one of those people that did fully appreciate every aspect of the book.

It seems to have gotten worse; Samantha was finding ways to isolate herself again, and if left unchecked she was going to find more and more ways to withdraw from everyone. That must not be allowed to succeed; There wasn't going to be any social arguments today, Gill decided, but maybe just a bit of small talk would still help.

At least maybe it'd reassure Sam that he wasn't going to push.

"Hmm..." Gilliarme suddenly thought of something about Les Miserables on impulse. "Personally, I admire Eponine more than Cosette in the book. Cosette was a flawless beauty and when she was little she was interesting, but older she seemed just...there. Eponine was reputedly quite ugly (in comparison to Cosette, anyway), but she loved Marius in her own silent way, and she might've been a bit selfish to her end but all in all, quite sympathetic." Gilliarme chuckled, shaking his head. It was doubtful Samantha actually understood what Gill was saying, but it'd add some weight to Samantha's pretense that she was actually reading that thing, at least. "So, that aside, Sam, how're you feeling?"

Just before Jason was about to repeat his name again, he was given the task of fetching the mongoloid. He turned keeping his sights fixated at Miller and ignoring Tariq. Jason had recognized his voice which gave him the chills when they spoke earlier. Tariq was the reason Jason is on-board the Kirov. What exactly this man wanted to hear was beyond Jason's guess.

..just do as ordered I guess..

As Jason approached Ens. Miller, he slowed down a bit to see if he could over hear Lt. Te'litha and Tariq's conversation. Jason admired Nick's brass but something tells him that if Nick truly knew Tariq he wouldn't have barked at him like that. That man seems to have the power to make things move around here.

"Come here, you big lunk." Jason grabs Miller by the sleeve and tries to straighten out his uniform. Seems like there's bits of potato all over him.

thank god I somehow got in pilot gear

"Lt. Te'litha seems like a hard ass. Speak only when he speaks to you." Jason whispers as he tries to look over the corner of his eye at the officers. "Try 'an keep a low profile from now on ...people are gonna get hurt around here."

Sven entered the mess hall with little fuss. Stoping at the entrace he gazes over the crew personal eating. No Wolf, and none of this mysterious Lt. A few of the crew personal are eating, and two pilots that he had as of yet not seen before are eating together.

Drifting over to the selection, Sven grimaced. Now here is one thing I did not miss about ship life. The two kitchen staff behind the counter are grumbling over some mess in the kitchen caused by a pilot, seems he caused some problem with potatoes. Sven really didnt care, so he did little more than let it in one ear and out the other. He grabed a sandwich and water, the only selection that looked most like food.

Making his selection he heads toward a free table next to the table shared by the two pilots. Sitting down, Sven takes a large bite of his sandwich and nearly drops it in surprise. Maybe they dont make them as bad as they used to. He attacks the sandwich with renewed vigor.
