I don't believe it all.. but some of it may be true.ExhileVoid wrote:Gamepspot finally gave us their Q&A over the whole situation:

There's some sucking up but they also sound genuinely upset as well.

If something is not worth your time and money they shouldn't fool you. It's not because it's a big game that can only be good, good example is doom 3, i gave it a 2.5/10, even if most magazines gave it 8.5/10 or better. I was lucky i never bought it myself, would have been a huge waste of my money. I always found that the reviews for this game were far far overrated.
To contradict teh guy in question: i'm now playing zelda twilight princess, and beside sthat it's grafics are not state of the art and that there is no english language on it, it get's a solid 9.5/10 from me (and i'm a critic)

In the end, nothing remains
I just think it would be better that editors start using a system of reviewing the game in context with similar titles, one grade that is based on titles released in the same time frame and one that is based on the game's overall review versus ever other game ever made.
I've always looked at games in 3 ways, say for instance a gundam game, it can be judged on being a giant robot game or anime based game, one based on the genre of being an action title and one as a whole versus other games, which includes AAA titles. As each score is graded I think it would give a better idea of how the game is compared to other anime games and AAA titles, without just leaving the game as a 6.0/10 since it is going against cod4 or something clearly superior and is catered to the masses.
kane and lynch; third person shooter -- 6 poor controls
kane and lynch; vs AAA title -- cod 4 - 2 doesn't compare
kane and lynch; gamestyle -- bank robbery - 8 unique gameplay
something like this (this review is made up and made as an example, I never played the game) All I'm saying is that for a bank robbery game it is a good buy, as a TPS it is mediocre as a game as a whole compared to other titles around its release, it sucks. I think it gives a good indication of what people might be looking for.
(this review is made up and made as an example, I never played the game)** just to restate.

Apparently the whole Video Game Journalism Controversial involving Jeff and his Kane & Lynch Review has become concerned news. Gametrailers made it one of their Biggest New of 2007:
