Guitar Hero III
For those who have played it, do you think it is better than GH2? GH1?

As far as setlist go, I'm not really all that picky. You give me a song and I'll try to play it at the very least. I do have my favorites, but you can't win them all. That applies to all 4 iterations of the game.
I find it easier to play GHIII with the fretboard view being inclined slightly higher (in more of a birds-eye position) than 1, 2, and Rt80's.
Online is fun for me. But I hear that the PS3 is plauged with more problems than you can shake a stick at. I can't attest to it though.
All in all, I think it is better overall. The battle system is a pain in my rear. But at least it's something new.

I actually find that the PSN is pretty much Xbox Live minus the cost and some of the online community. (It's still new after all.) You win some, you lose some.

I tend to stay away from PSN as much as possible. It's just not a very versatile system yet. Which is why, when given a choice between PS3 or 360 titles, I will unanimously go 360 if I purchase a game that is online oriented.
It'll take time though. As you said, PSN is in it's infancy comparatively. XBL wasn't built in a day so I'm giving PSN some gracetime to get it's act together.
Of course, last patch I uploaded was the 1.80 patch I think. So I'm way behind.

/offtopic ps3 talk :p
I really wanted to my friend to get it for the wii since I heard it has some nice gimmicks but lacks the dlc and online play(?).
Personally I don't like any rhythm game, but meh.
Also Southpark last night was pretty lol at guitar hero.
The southpark guitar hero was classic. Gotta love the relevance to current events that show capitalizes on.
I've been playing real guitar for 8 years now. But somehow i can't like get past medium in guitar hero.
I dunno what my problem is.
I like the guitar hero II SG controller better then the less paul one. I think it has something to do with the neck and buttons. I'm not sure.

I'm really happy with it. Hard to say which setlist is better, cause while I feel 3 has more AAA 5 Star songs, it also has more crap songs than 2 did. The difficulty is definitely ratcheted up for 3 though, I still cant beat Lou on hard. One thing I do like alot more is the new guitar. It took some getting used to, but now that I'm comfortable with it I can say its deffinitely better than the old Xplorer. Both games are totally solid though, and you cant go wrong with either.

GH3 is pretty much more of the same, plus some new bells and whistles. I didn't even notice the change to the fretboard view, but I'll admit, when I did, the game got a little easier. In contrast, the songs got more technical, even more so than GH2's Expert mode, if you ask me. Much more skill is required to pass the harder difficulties, which has set me back some. I've only gone as far as Hard in GH2 and Expert was kicking my ass when I stopped in frustration and lack of time.
Still, the new content is pretty sweet. I wish there were more "bosses" than the two that you have to face off against (you know who they are if you've played it -- won't say in case of spoilers). And I kind of wished they picked a different Smashing Pumpkins song -- "Cherub Rock" is alright, but there's much better ones out there, IMO. And I could have done without the Sex Pistols song -- they should have picked one of their older songs.

I'm with Vash on that one. I don't care how good or bad you are, Lou on Expert is... it's luck based. Your skill only comes into the picture when it boils down to surviving long enough to get lucky to possibly recieve something like a Whammy Bar on your first power up. (Stupid fragmented sentence - I know.)
They got some free DLC coming out soon that'll allow you to play those songs. But I can't remember the configuration. Can't remember if it'll let you play them co-op or quick play or whatever.

True. I've found that a lot of the game is based on "just squeaking by", literally. I've missed roughly 20 notes in a row and ended a song at about a hair from the bottom of the Rock meter and still managed a decent rating.
I'll agree there's little skill involved with the bosses. The notes are just there to keep you "alive" and to gain power-ups, so the rest is luck in your power-ups and using them wisely.
And, yeah, Lou's a bastard. He seems to get Amp Overload, String Cut, and Whammy a lot more often than I do. I usually get lame stuff like Double Notes and the difficulty increaser (which he has no problems with).

On guitar? Should've saved that one for the inevitable eventual release of "Fiddle Hero."
Speaking of which, someone needs to make Fiddle Hero. Now. I'd buy it.
Heres something really really lame i found out. The new ps3 guitar hero controller doesn't seem to work with the older guitar hero games.
So a lot of people who bought guitar hero III, and who want to play the older games. Are stuck playing them on the Ps2. Or they need to get an adapter to plug the old controllers into the Ps3.
Why would the manufacturers of the controller not make it work with the older titles?? What were they thinking!?!

also, would anyone sing while playing this? I would.
neither does MethScrew fiddle hero, I want Banjo Hero.
Dueling banjo's + Xbox Live. Doesnt get better than that.

Don't call it a comeback...
...in fact, it's best if you forget I was ever here before.

The free DLC for the boss battles isn't too bad. I like Tom Morello and all, but his song makes me want to stab myself in the crotch as to not bring any offspring into this world that might hear it.
On the Slash side, I like. And the old Devil, well... at least it's not luck based anymore as you play it like a normal song. Unless you're actually battling.

Anarchy In The UK made me cry. They really should have picked one of The Sex Pistols' older songs. Much better material.
And, yeah, Devil Went Down To Georgia is just a metal remix. Still a lot of fun to play, even if Lou is a pain in the neck to duel.
My biggest complaint about the game so far: Co-op only songs. Apparently the "bosses" are replaced by stuff like Suck My Kiss by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
