Perhaps in the mean time we can form clans for other games.

hello gentlemen im back. wow its great to see the effort and seriousness that is being put into this. what at first was just a fun thought in my head to unite ace combat/military/aviation/gundam fans has become something much cooler and more organized.

first off great job on the logo on the motto, i love the fact we have a grunt mech on there. and the motto is definitely more illustrious than the one i had in mind which was "we're nobody's cannon fodder" great job guys.

as it stands yes we only have the numbers for a single squadron but i have high hopes that we will have more volunteers to expand to a wing. what im hoping is to have a separate aerial squadron(consisting entirely of aircraft), space operations squadron (consisting entirely of ms), special attack squadron (a combined ms and aircraft squadron) and logistical support squadron (transports)

most importantly as xo zeonfromhell put it excellently we are starting from the ground up on this so as your co im asking for your patience in building a mighty fighting force. no elite military was ever born overnight it takes time, training, and the right people to make it work and make it work well. in time i have no doubt that we have started and will accomplish something great. so thank you and keep up the great work and any questions or requests you have please let me know. a great co works as hard for his men as his men work for him.

Snake, excellent idea. For online clans I'm going to suggest a few shooters on the Xbox/360 that most owners should have so we can all get aquainted sooner than later. To start, Halo 2, Call of Duty 2/3, Gears of War, Rainbow 6: Vegas, GRAW 1/2 . Looking more towards mechs, Chromehounds and Armored Core 4 might be good places to start, although currently I have neither. I will hold out for a Dead or Alive 4 group here, but I doubt that'll go, and that's just me. I will take any suggestions beyond this, and remember, this isn't console specific; any platform is welcome to have suggestions offered for.
BGEN Razgriz, I'm working on an system to allow progression through different assigned planes/mecha based on time in rate (time in the wing), proficiency (how well you kill online), Subordination (taking orders from superiors), heroism (immediate superiors discretion), and senior officers discretion (Razgriz, ZeonFromHell, Zeta Gelgoog, RedShirt0909). Basically, you get points for all of the above, and can apply them to upgrading your current suit/plane or upgrading to a new one. Gentlemen, let's get to work.

You guys should get into IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946.

Or a modern jet sim like LO:MAC or F4AF. I know it's redundant to repeat it, but it kind of defeats the purpose of being a fighter squadron if you guys don't fly planes, doesn't it? :P

excellent idea on the progression system redshirt.

as of this time im still debating our forces air and mobile hardware. i kno that i want to start off on the basics. im thinking f-4s, or f-16s for our basic aircraft and zaku iis or ginns as our base ms.

and as it stands right now we have the manpower for a squadron and will work our way up to a wing when our numbers grow. so unfortunately to keep this real we will all have to demote ourselves one rank to keep the 1001st within a squadron based structure so for now i am colonel razgriz. but im sure our ranking will change once we start proving our worth.

for you designers out there id like to see a design for a squadron roundel to go on our units. since we have no allegiance to one particular nation or faction we must consider ourselves an independent unit. with independent motives.

I thought we'd offer some choice on ship selection, Colonel. I'd suggest we start with retro jets (F-4s, F-5s, and the F-8, one of my favorites) so that they can be later upgraded, and for MS selection we'd go with ZAKU IIs, GINNs, and a limited number of GMs, since they are more advanced than the other 2. Also, let everyone have a jet and an MS, just assign them to NAS New Liberty for jets or the Mobile Assault Carrier Phoenix for MS. Any upgrade points can be applied once to a jet upgrade and once to an MS upgrade under this system.

EDIT: Also, those of you who have xbox live accounts, post your names here so I can get a list going. When I get my account this weekend, I will be, of course, Redshirt0909.

Actually, considering that you guys would prefer to fly with a variety of planes, I might suggest getting an old copy of Falcon 4.0 and Red Viper.

Red Viper is the current incarnation of FreeFalcon and mods the game so that the following aircraft become flyable (at least from what I have seen so far, there might be more that I may not know of):

  • * A-1H Skyraider
    * A-10 Thunderbolt II
    * A-4E Skyhawk
    * EF2000 Typhoon F2
    * F-14B Tomcat
    * F-15C Eagle
    * F-16 Falcon and all its variations (because F4 is primarily an F-16 sim)
    * F/A-18 Hornet (A and C models)
    * F-22A Raptor
    * F-4E Phantom
    * F-5E Tiger II
    * F-8E Crusader
    * JAS-39A Gripen
    * Mirage 2000SF
    * MiG-19 Farmer
    * MiG-21MF Fishbed
    * MiG-25 Foxbat
    * MiG-29A Fulcrum
    * Su-27 Flanker B
    * Rafale C-F2/F3

If you guys are interested in trying this out, I'd say your first plane choice should be the F-16--since by default F4 only normally simulates the F-16, all its training missions are oriented towards the Falcon.

Alternatively, another game would be YSflight. I don't think I want to list the planes for it, because it includes a larger variety of flyable craft including civilian craft, helicopters and WW2 prop planes. This game, unlike F4, is free, has a very small download, (7 megs) and actually has a lot of virtual squadrons for such a small game. Primitive graphics in comparison though.

I might've talked about YSflight earlier but even if I did, I don't think I elaborated on what it was. Both games support netplay, by the way, which is why I'd really like to see you guys indulge either of them. :P

As far as progression goes, I think we should expand beyond the conventions of the Ace Combat system; just because we are forming an Ace Combat coalition, that doesnt mean we have be constrictive to what's in the games. For instance, the fighter element would start off at the first generation. You basically start off with jets like the Messerchmitt Me-262, MiG-15 and -17, Yak-25 , F-80 Shooting Star, F-84 Thinderjet and (the swept-wing) F-84F Thunderstreak, F-86 Saber, Dassault Mystere IV, Gloster Meteor, deHavilan Vampire, of course the Hawker Hunter (my favorite of the first generation) and others not listed. Then as you progress, you can choose Second Generation fighters like the Century Series the MiG-19 and -21, the Dassault Super Mystere, The English Electric Lightning, Saab Draken etc. The third generation has jets like the F-4 Phantom (II, if you're picky), the Dassault Mirage III and F.1, and MiG-23. Then Fourth like the F-14, F-15, F-16, F/A-18, MiG-29, Su-27, Mirage 2000 etc. Then the 4.5 (kind of a dubious name if you ask me) has the Strike Eagle, Super Hornet, Super Flanker and the Su-30 lines, Dassault Rafale, Eurofighter, Saab JAS-39 Gripen, and the JF-17 Thunder. Finally, the Fifth Generation has the F-22 and the Lightning II.

As far as mobile suits go, we would start out with earlier Zakus and then continue on with Goufs and GMs, and when we're really far in, we can have wonderful models like the Gebera Tetra and the Gelgoog Jeager. In order to conduct the generational patter with mobile suits, we need to find acceptable sources to site to keep things accurate and fair.

Yo gang, I've been out of town this weekend visiting family...

Seems like this is going down an online/X Box live type of path way. I don't intend on getting a 360 for sometime, and I don't have any experience with online games...so I'm not sure if I can contribute more then moral and knowledge support for you guys, but let me know if I can help anyways.

hello gentlemen. teaming ms with first gen jet fighters seems a little too much of a stretch. i could see us starting off at 2nd gen fighters or early 3rd gen fighters then progressing our way to the more advanced types. why dont we narrow it down to a field of 3 2nd gen and 3 3rd gen fighters to see which ones we can agree would best suit our intial specs. then from there we can narrow it down even further to the final 3 types. as for ms i think most of us should be able to agree that either the zaku ii or the gm (normal type) should suit our fledgling capabilities (excuse the pun).

since we are at this point the 1001st MAC squadron and we already have an interim insignia i'd like to offer a few of my choices for a squadron name and obviously everyone is welcome to throw in their suggestions so that we can narrow down the choices and take a final vote on this.

the wandering ghosts
fortune's nemesis
fate's hammer
crusaders
the crossed swords
silent wolves
janus
fury

once we decide on jet/ms inventory and squadron name then we can start coming up with names for our operating base, carrier, and space carrier.

Perhaps the flight leader could nickname his own element rather than making one for the entire squadron? Don't get me wrong, I like your suggestions; you have a knack for poetry and powerful imagery. But at the same time, I didn't like the mystical, supernatural theme to the latter half of AC5 or in ACZ. I was more of a fan of "Sand Island Squadron" and "Mobius: 118th Tactical Fighter Squadron" mainly because it sounded like "big kids on the block" and not "senseless killing machines who are invincible and enjoy stealing souls." I like "Crossed Swords" and "Crusaders;" they sound a bit less demure and more noble, plus my grade school mascot was the Crusaders.

If I may be so bold, I shall toss in:

Freedom Fighters
Brothers in Arms (I know, it's a bit cliche)
Alpha Flight
Wings of Fire (for fighters)
and Ground Pounders (for mobile suits)

Also, I agree with the idea that the First Generation is a bit out of place when including mobile suits. Come to think of it, having a Zaku II covered by an F-86 Saber would be like having an M1A2 Abrams tank supplemented by a S.P.A.D. biplane.

One more thing: members need to think of their own callsign if you don't want to go by your forum username.

Pilots are not supposed to give themselves callsigns. :P Now as for squadron names.

Spartan Squadron (Or something like that. Man I really need to stop playing Halo or watching movies with spartans in them all the time. >_<)
Spitting Cobras
Viper Squadron
Swordfish Squadron

However those are for plane, not MS squadrons since I can't think of any for MS.
Thundermuffin's TEGSD: MEYRIN: Ma’am! The Archangel has arrived and launched a giant, man-shaped robot at us! Likelihood of it being a mobile-suit… (Meyrin does some quick calculations on her console)…ninety-nine point eight percent!

Like I said earlier, we need to get online before AC6 comes out so we can get callsigns for each other. See my previous post for examples of actual callsigns; don't watch Top Gun, none of those ever get used.

yes i'm sorry gentlemen but officially banned from callsigns are maverick, iceman, goose, and slider. we can be much more creative than that im sure. and i know that the cardinal rule is that callsigns are usually given to pilots by their ground crews but since at this point we dont really have a ground crew nor much of a history to be able to go by, i think we can let it pass that we are able to name ourselves. so long as it is a name that commands respect and dignity. from now on i will have the in-flight/combat callsign of "saint"

we should think of ourselves as the modern equivalent to knights of old, our motto certainly holds that much honor to it. in time i truly hope that we can form a history for this team. i know its too far to say become a legendary group but i think that all gamers, role-players, or just guys into living out dreams all strive to become legends in their own right.

as for the squad/element suggestions very good choices from all of you. i would like us to narrow down the favorites so that by the end of the week we can have a vote on element designations for air and ms ops. slowly but steadily i feel this group becoming great. 8)

Alright then. My element's name is Age of Pamarius. My callsign is Electric Eye (PM me if you want an explanation).

To the members of my element (see the post that Redshirt made a couple pages back) : Give me ideas of a second or third-generation plane you would like to use. As for mobile suits, there aren't a whole lot of choices as of late: basic Zaku Is or IIs. The menu of hardware will get better as we progress, but that's it for now. You get the lavish choice of weapons too: 105mm or 120mm Machineguns, 280mm Bazooka, and the ever-popular Heat Hawk. PM me in realation to what you want, don't post it in the thread. I will edit this post and publish your input.

most excellent "electric eye" 8) ive decided on my element name as well; THE CROSSED SWORDS, thanks for the input and recommendation. i wouldnt want to lead an element in that nobody would like the name, they might turn over to the enemy.

You forgot "Hollywood" and "Wolfman" on that list of banned callsigns, although I doubt anyone would take them.

Anyway, my element name is Midnight Fenrir, as I figured my group would specialize (but not be limited to) night engagements. As well, my in-flight/combat callsign is Ghost. For a general squadron name, I thought the designation "Goliath Squadron" would be fitting, since we're pairing off between MS and fighters.

"ghost" a good choice for a callsign and you have my attention with your idea for specialist in night ops.

Guys, the only things named are the flights. Elements are members of that flight. As leader of Pamarius Flight, ZeonFromHell would be Pamarius 1. As his wing, Xanatos11 would be Pamarius 2. As the second element leader, Zeta Gelgoog would be Pamarius 3. As his wing, Solid Snake would be Parmarius 4. Similarly, Razgriz would be Sword Lead, I would be Sword 3, Wing Zero Alpha would be Sword 5. Once we get more personell and can break off additional flights or squadrons we can add new names, but until then its just Sword and Pamarius flight. If I get to vote for my callsign its Trident. As for MS selection, are we just using UC units? CE has enough units so that I could come up with a flow chart for progression comparable to the UC chart up to Zeta ( I haven't seen ZZ/Victory yet). I personally prefer CE MS, but that is because SEED was my first anime ever, and it just kinda stuck as a favorite.
Again, I need xbox live tags. This saturday night at 2000 as Wing Operations officer I call for a squadron meeting in Halo 2 for basic firearms instruction, PT session, and wargames to wrap it up. I need confirmation that you'll be there, or you need to fill out a special request CHIT form ID-10/T if you'll be missing Wing Training Ops. Those without xboxs are automatically excused. Please people, the best way to fill our ranks out is to get onto Xbox live, play games, win those games, and sufficiently impress those who take it a little seriously that we roll with the best of them and that joining would be a good idea. We'll never get that many guys if we just stay here.

thats why you're a critical part of the 1001st redshirt you know how to take care of logistics and real world data. unfortunately even though i am the CO i as yet dont have an xbox, hopefully that will change soon so i guess for now im leading from the sidelines and not front lines, for now.

we should consider midnight fenrir flight our designation for special ops/night ops flights considering its prestigous namesake.

and regarding the ce ms. i realize that this might turn into a sensitive issue, i myself hold ce ms in strong favor. so i suggest that we reach some sort of a compromise in regards to inter-universe hardware. i myself am in favor of utilizing ce ms provided they are converted to uc-specs and technology. but we will discuss this
