I remember there was some news about a Gundam game on the 3DS that was the continuation of that Battle series on the PSP. There was some buzz on a couple of Gundam sites with a few screenshots here and there, and then the game came out and nothing. So yeah, was no one interested enough to import the game or what?

i believe its because not much of us here has a 3DS and it is also region locked...

From what I gather it's basically more of the same... in 3D! Also, apparently the unit and mission count is down from the last two games (it removed all the AU stuff, ZZ, F91 and a lot of the non-animated stuff) and only added Unicorn and Sinanju. In other words, a quick cash-in that's not worth taking about too much.
