Hey i was wondering how these 2 model powders work i know the Kosutte Gin-san is applyed to painted model parts to make a metalic shine look.
But i am confused about pearl powder how does it work i seen some guy working on his master grade char and he had black parts ready to apply and he put white paint in his air brusher added thinner and put some pearl powder and it made the black look very metalic i was wondering if anyone has info on this type of painting effect.
I was unaware of this effect until late today i must say it works really well if anyone knows more i would love to discuss this.
Here is a video of the MG Char tutorial, he does the effects i was talking about around the middle of the video let me know what you all think about this and how it is to be done properly.

Kosutte Gin-San & Pearl Powder
You are misled when you think it's white paint he has. The video shows that he puts the pearl powder into the empty bottle. It does not show you that he added a medium for the pearl powders to work. He used either a clear enamel or clear acrylic medium, and once that mixes with the pearl powders, it looks similar to that white paint.
I used pearl powders mixed with future floor polish to create a pearl coat effect. At the bottom of this page, I have an example of of spraying pearl powders on top of parts I already painted to get a pearly effect: http://gamerabaenre.com/sd_kampfer_prog.htm
The finished kit is here: http://gamerabaenre.com/sd_kampfer.htm

Nice work man your a big help i am a total painting newbie i still dont understand all the basci effets of modeling / painting design.
I now understand a bit more but i still am confused is there different types of pearl poweder ? like do you need a blue pearl powder to mix with blue paint and red with red paint ect.
Or is there just regular powder and you are able to mix it with any colour ?

Pearl powders need to be mixed into some sort of a paint medium. You can mix it with paint. However, I mix it with a clear paint (future floor polish). My parts are painted already, and then I just spray on the pearl powders mixed with clear paint.
