When did modellers start pronoucing 'decals' as...

'Deckles'

Ok all my life I've heard and pronounce 'decals' as 'dee-cals' and then suddenly when I'm checking out gunpla and various other plamo reviews on youtube, there are some folks pronoucing 'deckles' and for a while I had no idea what they were talking about. Is this just a gunpla builders pronounciation quirk or have people starting using pseudo-brit pronounciations for modelling terms and I never knew about it?

It's a regional thing. A lot of of the Canadian modelers seem to favor "deckles".

Yeah, one of the newer fellows that builds with "thosegundamguys" is from Vancouver and it was the first time I heard dee-cals pronounced deckles. A few of us were thrown back, but then we just started asking what that was all aboot, and that sorta settled things.

Makes sense, I was listening to the rrobert11tk youtube reviews and listening to the other stuff he says, I'm almost sure he's Canadian now.

But living in Japan, as shown by his recent tours of his frequent model haunts.

Did Fats Goodman really die at the end of "Fats' Counterattack?"
