Gundam Wing map
Okay, so I was watchin Gundam Wing the other day. In one episode a world map comes up on a moniter. Now I never noticed this before, so I paused it. The world is all fine and dandy, but....There is NO Alaska, or New Zealand or Tazmania. As in they don't exist. Canada's west side just sort of curves back. Did the sea swallow them up. What gives?

I don't have a screencap. It was episodes....7-9 I think. When The Gundams attacked OZ and OZ threatened the colonys with a missle attack.

It may have been a badly drawn map, I remember clearly in the episode where Operation Daybreak took place, they showed a map of North America and Alaska was right where it was supposed to be.

Don't send a coordinator to do a newtype's job!
Trust me, Wing is full of such maps, recently I was watching episode six working on a sort of rewrite of the series, though that's a different story, and I was trying to figure out which part of the world Quatre was looking at on a map on his computer. If I can get a picture, I'll post it. What I personally wrote about it was "So this doodle, which I suspect is a poorly drawn rendition of Turkmenistan..." So yes, Wing maps make very little sense.
That's just a case of inconsistant art, really. In the official maps from artbooks and such, the world is whole. Case in point:
