i've heard of the parody (also heard there was a mazinger Z parody) but i really didnt focus much on it.

its got good plot but somewhat gets you confused as its divided into two arcs (past and present).

also it tends to focus on characters than the story.

The Mazinger Z parody is in its ED.

As for the show itself, while it is a worthwhile watch...in comparison to its manga, the anime definitely a flop. They only butchered the story of the main villain, making him one of the worst anime-made villains I've seen go to here for the Kokusho's anime-manga comparison. And yes, the page is Wiki, but as an avid and devoted fan of the manga and having watched the anime, I can quarantee you that the page is accurate.

I can never say it enough...the anime would have been sooooooooooo much better had it been 24 episodes.
