Hi, big fan of mech war anime but for the most part i'm mainly into older shows from the late 70's through 90's and haven't really kept up with newer releases since the early 2000's.
Not counting shows that are part of long established franchises like Gundam & Votoms, what are some of the best mech shows that have come out in the past, I dunno, 5 years or so?
Modern era recomendations?

There's a similar thread/poll here, though more limited in timeframe (only mecha anime of the past two years are discussed).
Well, I guess I'm a nobody...

I second Robotics;Notes. It needed a few more episodes and could have been way better but it was still great.
Not necessarily sure how much I would put it in the "mecha war" genre though. It had some elements and has a "Gundam knockoff franchise" existing within the storyline but it has a lot of other more slice of life aspects and conspiracy too. Pretty much like Steins;Gate.
