Cool things that already happened:
-Backstory of Kou's academy time. Torrington arrival and training.
-Cima attacking the Albion as it heads to the moon to collect the 2 GP series MSes.
-Gato singlehandedly kicking Bate, Adel and Monsha's asses(all using GM Customs) riding his custom HM Zaku from MSV-R using Garden of Thorn's debris and hidden weapon caches.
-Flashback to 01/0080 when the Zeon forces that fled A Baoa Qu meet to discuss what to do. Cima is denied entry to Axis then she sorties in her Custom Gelgoog Marine and has a short skirmish with Gato riding the elusive Dom Funf.

This is shaping up to be one the BEST Gundam mangas ever. And I don't even like the 0083's story and characters :D

...what's wrong with Z Define again? I don't think I've ever seen any discussion on it on this forum.

The EMS-TC02 Phantom? Based on what MAHQ's mecha section says I would assume so.

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga

Another diversion from the main plot paths this time around. The Albion and crew arrive at Von Braun. Nina runs into Kurena Hacsell (or whatever her name is) and learns she's stationed aboard the La Vie en Rose. Kou and Nina are going on a date to see Shining Blue Fire. As Kou is waiting for Nina, Delaz's speech is playing and she drops her purse in shock at seeing Anavel Gato on the screen.

Cue chapter end.

Hey, they are actually going to work in l'affaire Gato for Nina before the big battle? :o Best change in the animated story yet. Also Kou taking Nina on a date without being held at gunpoint. It will of course end in tears, but it is always cheering to see the Gundam pilot pursue the Spacenoid beauty. ;) But is it a double date with Keith & Mora?

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga

So Rebellion is finally bringing the hinted love triangle into fruition:

Chapter 32 has Cima arriving on Luna and meeting with O'Sullivan in her anime scene. There's a slightly added scene involving Anaheim giving her a certain "mobile suit". The next scene shifts to Kou waiting for Nina outside their date location. He says she's late and wonders what could have happened. Nina, meanwhile, pays a visit to Kelly's house at his junk yard. She has a flashback of her trying to locate a MS-05's active motor control core chip. Gato, who happens to be there, wants nothing of her and tells her to get lost.

Kelly is a bit more lenient and tells her to go digging around for it. Here she learns Gato's name. As Nina returns to the present from her flashback, she suddenly remembers she has a date with Kou and dashes off. Meanwhile, as Kou patiently waits for her, a drunk Monsha comes stumbling along with Bate and Adel. He chides Kou and wonders if he got stood up by Nina before dragging him along with him to go drink.

As they group is drinking, Monsha really lays into him about always blabbing about having to beat Gato. Uraki, rather drunk, leaves in frustration. As he's in an alleyway, he gets beat up by a trio of goons, with one of them almost putting a cap in his you know what for good.

Meanwhile, there's a local meeting of your runofthemill Zeon soldiers blabbing about having pride and crap. Clara, the pilot of the mobile armor, manages to make it to the moon and attends this meeting. There, she sees Kelly, thinking to herself how he resembles her brother, only meaner looking. As he goes to leave the meeting, he's blocked saying he can't leave. He socks the guy blocking the way telling him there's a Feddie spy in the meeting. Just then flashbangs are launched into the meeting and the Federation police storm in.

As Kelly is fleeting, muttering about his comrades being sold out, he stumbles across Kou on the ground. Cue him being taken back to his house and waking up to Letura watching him.

As the chapter concludes, Nina is meeting with O'Sullivan. He informs her that they'd like to put the GP-01FB through a mock battle for it's final testing. Nina wonders if it's through the military and O'Sullivan laughs and tells her no. When he slides her the documents her eyes go wide with horror: it's the GP-04 Gundam Prototype 04 Gerbera, a unit whose development should have been cancelled...

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga

Latest chapter from Gundam Ace:

Kou continues to work on the Val Varo with Kelly. Meanwhile, at Anaheim, Tanya meets with Kurina regarding the GP-04 development and Nina's involvement. At a bar on Luna, Cima is having a drink with one of her lackeys when Clara (the girl from the Kraken Team) approaches her. Cima dismisses her as a pilot since she's so young, but she pleads to join. As a result she cuts off her braid to swear loyalty.

Kou and Kelly manage to get the mobile armor activated. Back at one of Anaheim's testing facilities, the mock battle between the GP-01 and the GP-04 is supposed to take place. The Gerbera (they're calling it this in it's Gundam form) heads out, but Kou has yet to arrive in order to conduct the battle. As Mora, Tanya and Nina grapple with finding a pilot, they suggest Keith until Nina says she'll pilot it. Suddenly Keith appears and they yell at him for being late. The Gundam heads out onto the lunar surface.

Kelly, on the other hand, has his pilots suit on. Letura is trying to persuade him not to go. As he goes out, Kult is present with a briefcase. He comments on the perfection of the Val Varo. As Kult hands over the money, he lets it slip that he'll be piloting the mobile armor. Kelly snaps that it was his intention from the get go and Kult pulls out a gun on him. The two argue before Kelly charges at him, Kult attempting to shoot him. The two wrestle before Kelly gets him to shoot himself in the head. Letura comes in and is shocked by the scene. He gives her the money telling her to take it. She refuses, but Kelly locks himself inside telling her to forget about him. She says she can't forget about him as she clutches her stomach (she's pregnant?!). The chapter ends with the Val Varo heading out.

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga

Chapter 36

As Kou stands before a downed Val Varo, Gato calls out to Kelly that he's her to pick him up. Kelly is shocked and Kou goes on the offensive wondering where he is. Gato has arrived on the moon with the GP-02A now equipped with the Multiple Launch Rocket System-type system (with a few extra bells and whistles). Above the lunar surface is a Columbus and a Salamis escort. The Columbus is deploying GMs from its side hatches. Gato fires on the descending GMs.

Kelly is struggling with getting the Val Varo moving again and is severely disappointed because he looks like a fool with Gato here to get him. Kou finds Gato and launches an attack on him. He tell him that until he returns Gundam Unit 2 he'll follow him wherever he goes. Gato acknowledges his tenacity but has nothing to do with the likes of him so he fires his beam cannon at him.

Meanwhile, Cima is navigating about in her camouflaged freighter surprised that Gato has made an appearance. She says to leave the mobile armor to Gato as there's something else she wants: the GP-04.

Clara, a member of the Kraken Team down on Earth, was desperate to join Cima. So, Cima decided to entrust her with a mission. She would recover the GP-04 which was stuck in the plasma field from the Val Varo. If she returns with it safely, she would become a member of the Marines. As Clara approaches the unit, she opens the cockpit hatch and the dead body of its pilot falls to the lunar surface. As she flies away in the unit, she detonates some explosives she brought along with it so it looks like the unit was destroyed.

Meanwhile, the lunar pursuit fleet is miffed that they're having difficulty with the enemy. They feel that they should just surround Gato with sheer numbers. Kou asks one of the GM pilots for a spare rifle and the pilot just asks him what unit he's with before getting blown up. The Columbus drops what looks like a modified RTX-440 Assault Guntank onto the lunar surface. (See image here). Gato is surprised they're using something like that and launches an attack on it.

The captain of the Salamis hands down orders to use the ships cannons to stop the enemy in its tracks. However one of his officers responds by warning him that it would damage facilities on the lunar surface. The captain doesn't care and that they're protecting the facilities by doing so. The ship fires, missing Gato and tearing up a line on the surface.

Clearly pissed, Gato launches a rocket blast at the Guntank as he then draws his saber and slices the unit in half. (See photo here). Shaken that they cannot find Gato's location, Gato takes the opportunity to sink the ship. Nearby, a Musai sends our several Doms to recover the mobile armor. Karius greets Gato to tell him they've recovered Kelly and Kelly is pleased to see his old friend. Kou, meanwhile, tries telling Kelly not to go .

Kou screams at Gato about Kelly, telling him that he was happy being here on the moon and that there is someone who likes him. Kelly yells back at him about how if he's really a soldier then he shouldn't bring up such trifling matters, that he is an enemy after all and that they kill on the battlefield. Gato asks Kelly what that was about and he tells Gato he'll talk about it later.

Confused, Kou picks up a rifle from the fallen GM from earlier. He says there isn't much ammo left in it but he can use it. Just then, Mora breaks in and tells him not to follow Unit 2. Uraki is startled that everyone is okay. Back at the plant, there is a giant scar across the ceiling that is sealed shut with the bubble gum goo emergency sealant. Mora tells him that Nina is also safe (though she looks terrible). She tells him to leave pursuit to another unit. He tries to explain that Unit 2 is right in front of him but Nina yells that he mustn't fight it. Mora says that he should link up with the Albion.

The chapter ends with Kou staring off in the direction that Gato and the others went...

That's one cherried-out Assault Guntank. Looks like they slapped on the G05's Giant Gatling and the turret from the Gigan.
Sakuya: "Whatever. Stop lying and give up your schemes, now."
Yukari: (Which lies and schemes are she talking about? It's hard to keep track of them all...)

Looks more like a Ball twin turret to me (think 08th MS Team version), and is that other arm from the Guntank II?
Well, I guess I'm a nobody...

Ah, so Unit 4 is complete and functional in this version?

Well that certainly turned out much different than the anime, though at this point I guess I should't be surprised.

Wonder if Kelly will make it past the Luna arc.

I...I feel the need to order a HGUC kit & do a custom build...

The Von Braun section of the story so far has not disappointed me at a remove. The continued fleshing-out of the story continues to work out. A lot of stuff happened quickly here, and the rush to the Full Vernier version and a kickass Mobile Armor fight ("I'm a rock lobster!") left out some interesting bits on why Kelly & Gato were still in the fight, why CIma-sama really shouldn't be trusted, and why Nina loves a Spacenoid man. The back story of Gerbera Tetra appeals to my mecha nerdery in a big way, and Gato trying to meet Kelly halfway with about all the available MS weapons from the Peer Gynt hangar on his back is mighty! 8)

Re: Gundam 0083 Rebellion manga

I just started reading 0083 Rebellion and Zeta Define this week. The Stardust Memory OVA is a series that I've never liked very much as a story, but for whatever reason the aesthetic has always stood out in my memory as a fantastic representation of franchise. I'm only a couple of chapters into the Manga so far, but I'm already liking it decently well. It may be because there seems to be better character-work at play, but it also could just be that I love the aesthetic and I want it to be good, haha.

Define, I'm three volumes into (so I guess I'm around Chapter 13). It's kind of an odd one, because it feels really unnecessary to me, but I like Zeta well enough that I'm still loving it, even where its improvements are marginal (and sometimes not necessarily improvement).
