Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

Apparently I don't either. You'll have to check the link on the last page.

Just finished Macross Frontier episode 20. Man, that was a hard way to go for Mikhail. I'm glad they changed that in the movies. Impaled through the chest and then blown out into hard vacuum. Valkyrie pilot's curse strikes again.

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

Alto is dense as a brick.
Denser even.
Dense as lead.
What's denser than lead?
So how the high holy frak did he figure out that Sheryl wanted to have sexytimes in episode 22?

Dense as he may be, he's nowhere near the level of, say, Senou Natsuru or Orimura Ichika, so it's still well within the realm of possibility.

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

They are the male leads from a pair of harem shows, Kampfer and Infinite Stratos, respectively. Both have a reputation for being ridiculously dense due to how they are constantly fawned over by a plethora of delightfully sexy girls (SIX in Ichima's case) and yet somehow fail to recognize that all of them desperately want to jump their bones. As bad as Alto is, he isn't THAT bad.

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

Just finished the last episode of Macross Frontier. Man, that was a great final battle, especially with SMS Macross Slice-ing Galaxy's main cannon and then Battle Frontier Falcon Punching Battle Galaxy in the face. I can still see, though, why the whole, "you're both my wings," solution annoyed the crap out of people.

There were a couple of minuses though. They fixed this in the movies but Alto needed to have a last duel with Brera. Ranka just magically moving the virus from Sheryl's head to her stomach was a bit of a stretch since they made so much of a point to say that Ranka's the way she is because she was born with the virus.

So from what I saw of the final battle, most of the islands were destroyed, most of the fleet's warships were also destroyed, so they really made it by the skin of their teeth eh?

The scene of the Vajra folding out over Macross City on Earth; was that a retouched scene from Plus or something else or made specifically for Frontier?

I'm not sure what would happen to Bilrer but the guy definitely has an unhealthy obsession with Minmay and somebody is gonna have to answer for the Galaxy conspiracy.

So, now I just have Macross II and the Frontier movies left and then I'm done. It's been a long road since I first started watching SDF Macross in September, but I'm getting there.

Good luck with II. It ranks up there with "things I will never voluntarily take time out of my life to sit through again, ever," but there were still some redeeming points that have stuck with me to this day. (Dat Ishtar. Mm-hm.) 8)

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

Here's an article at Kotaku explaining why the West have not seen a new Macross (NOT Robotech), I really wish Harmony Gold will reply back to them.

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

That particular scene from Macross 30 occurs just after you help Grace, Guld and Brera rescue Ranka from the NUNS taskforce HAVAMAL. Alto, dense as he is, is so happy that Ranka's allright, that he basically brushes off Sheryl. I guess that means the Triangle's still on.

Re: The Official Macross 30th Anniversary Thread

Not sure if this is related, but there seems to be some sort of FB7/Macross Frontier "movie" out there:
Macross FB7: Ore no Uta o Kike! (movie)
Mostly consists of upscaled, 16:9ified frames from Macross 7 plus some new animation with MF characters.
I guess it is set during MF series because Michael is alive, Alto is strangely absent.
Lots of FB music.

Yes Macross FB7 was released as the 30th Anniversary animation project although it's little more than a glorified commercial.

In other news, Megumi Nakajima shockingly announces she's putting her music career on hiatus!
