Looks like China's fake 1/1 RX-78-2 is done and it looks like it's purpose is to "light up the Christmas night."

Also in this same blog, Tomino made a trip to Beijing University and while he was there, he made a comment saying he's not impressed with Chinese animation.

Here's an interesting one, courtesy of the Gundam Guy Blog. Ever wanted to shop for groceries and show your appreciation for Gundam at the same time?

Well, now you can!

Mitsui Sumitomo, a Japanese Insurance Group, announced that they'll be offering a Gundam-themed Visa Card, illustrated by Gundam mecha designer Kunio Okawara.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

Follow up on Bushido's fake Gundam in China article.

Chinese theme park at first states that statue is not copied from Gundam but now it denies the statue's existence.
Chengdu Guosetianxiang, an amusement park in the central Chinese province of Sichuan, has denied accusations that its orange robot statue was copied from Sunrise's Gundam anime franchise. A public relations representative said, "It is not an imitation but an original [design]. It is not an copy of Gundam, but a design we came up with." However, the representative acknowledged, "Since there are reports of similarities, we are currently working on modifications." Sotsu, the primary copyright holder of Gundam, said that it is "investigating" the facts of the matter. The news source FNN is streaming a video report about the issue.

Witnesses report that the orange statue with a striking resemblance to Sunrise's Gundam robotic mecha was suddenly removed from a Chinese amusement park as of Tuesday. Park officials also denied the existence of the statue to the news agency Agence France-Presse. The Floraland (Chengdu Guosetianxiang) park's website removed the image of the statue from one of its pages. (A sample of the original image appears at right.)

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

So apparently there is work on a new Voltron series coming up which I heard about only recently.

Looks like Voltron is getting a remake for the modern age.

If you read episode 28's description they are almost done with all the voice work for the series itself.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted Articles

BONES will continue the late Umanosuke Iida's new mecha anime.
The February issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Gundam Ace magazine reports that the anime studio BONES is producing a project called Towa no Kuon. The director was Umanosuke Iida (Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team, Hellsing), who passed away in November. Takeshi Mori (Otaku no Video, Gunsmith Cats, Vandread) is serving as the "collaborative director" in Iida's place, and Saizo Nemoto (Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpucho: Tou 2nd Act, Shangri-La script writer) is supervising the scripts.

Toshihiro Kawamoto (Gundam 0083, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain) is designing the characters and overseeing the animation process. Yutaka Izubuchi (Gundam: Char's Counterattack, Gundam 0080, Patlabor) is credited for the concept designs, while his frequent collaborator Shingo Takeba (Gasaraki, RahXephon, Patlabor WXIII) is also credited for "design works."

Iho Narita and Takashi Aoi are designing the background art, and Yutaka Nakamura (Escaflowne TV's opening, Cowboy Bebop: The Movie, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa) is serving as the "special effects director." The other main staff members include Kenji Mizuhata, Tsunenori Saito, and Takeshi Yoshioka.

BONES aims to finish the first episode by next summer. While Gundam Ace has not provided specifics on the anime's story, it does present several sketches that Iida himself drew of an alternate-dimension gate and other elements.

EDIT: More info from the SRW board: From Famitsu, translated by Duckroll and relayed by Hinode:

- This is the part 1 of SRWZ2. The game is divided into 2 parts.
- Development started at around March 2009.
- For many of the new series including Geass, Gundam 00, and Gurren Lagann, they are 2 part stories. Hakai-hen will only cover the first half of their stories.
- That means Season1 only for Geass and Gundam 00, and up to ep15 (and the first movie) for GL.
- Gundam Wing TV and Gundam 00 will have a connected storyline in SRWZ2, the reason for this is probably because both cover essentially the same goals in different perspectives.
- Dai-Guard and Trider will also be connected because both storylines feature corporations as a story backdrop, and their business worlds will connected in SRWZ2.
- Even though this is a 2-part sequel, the Hakai-hen will still contain huge climatic original enemies of its own in the game.

EDIT 2: Pics are up on Famitsu's website

Okay, a bit of a shameless plug here (given that I'm on the Manifest committee) but One of ANN's daily cosplays is the 00 Raiser from Manifest 2009
