Title: Lawsuit Launched over Proposed Live-Action Voltron Film

Summary: The American company, World Events Productions (WEP), has tried to launch a lawsuit against Toei Animation over the proposed live-action film anime film Voltron.
According to Koplar's WEP production company, Toei and Koplar drafted a series of agreements in 1985 over the use of Golion, Dairugger XV, and the Voltron franchise. WEP produced a computer-animated spinoff series called Voltron: The Third Dimension in 1998, and a dispute between WEP and Toei arose. WEP filed a lawsuit against Toei in 1999, but this lawsuit was settled in 2000 with new agreements.
WEP filed a lawsuit against Toei in February 2008 and amended it in March. In the new lawsuit, WEP contends that as a result of Toei's claims to the live-action film project, "New Regency investigated the existence of possible third-party claims in and to the Golion and/or Voltron properties." WEP continues, "Through that investigation, New Regency identified an artist or author, Kazuo Nakamura, who may possess rights that encumber the Golion and/or Voltron properties and that interfere with World Events' full and lawful enjoyment of the Golion and Voltron properties." Nakamura was the character designer of Golion, and therefore, the animation in the first Voltron series.
On August 17, Variety revealed that New Regency was no longer planning to produce the Voltron film project and never actually signed a deal. It added that New Regency could not "wrap up a deal with Voltron's rights holders [WEP], delaying any further development of the pic." According to WEP's court filings, the company "has lost at least one development deal that would have resulted in a live-action motion picture" due to Nakamura's potential rights to Golion and Voltron. WEP filed an amended legal summons for Toei on Monday. WEP is seeking a legal declaration on which rights belong to WEP and which rights belong to Toei or Nakamura.
Neither WEP nor Toei has responded to ANN's requests for comment.

I don't see how this connects to Gundam at all. If it's because 00 mentioned stem cells a few times, that's a really loose connection to try to force.Demon Lord of L5 wrote:Not exactly anime oriented but it is connected to Gundam.

I know but it doesn't hurt to try.
I agree with you it is very loosely connected I'm not trying to force it and try to make people agree with me, I just thought have a try you never know what may happen.
But here is some hard 00 news which is a bit late from when I heard about, anyway BEEZ Entertainment which is the region 2 subsidiary to Namco Bandai has the European sub-license for Gundam 00 and will be releasing it if I remember rightly around the end of March next year.
p.s. BEEZ haven't put it up on there web site this is straight from the horses mouth

The link is just the streaming service mentioned. The announcement was text, from Madman Entertainment's on their message board - I can link you to that if you want, although it's just what I quoted.hawk of endymion wrote:Thanks everyone for your submissions. Please check out epdisode 24.

Huh, I was wondering what that thud was. D_G just killed Chris. Life's been picking on him lately, but I didn't think it had outright abandoned him yet.Destiny_Gundam wrote:Pantless plane people dominate DVD charts
But hey, I enjoyed the show, so this is good news in my book.

Sorry for the double post, but I thought this was some good WTF news that may also have a great impact on us all (see the bottom of the page, "Automated Pizza Delivery"). Of course, Neo's News may not be able to air this particular story for reasons regarding legal rights, but I can provide a synopsis in case it is acceptable.
Efforts included a fly-by consisting of a low altitude Goodyear Blimp and a pizza box on a parachute. This method was utterly unacceptable, resulting in a cold and mangled pizza.
Next, they made a human-sized Segway-esque vehicle for use in a near-to-shop urban delivery. It had lidar (laser radar), GPS, LED displays, visual and tactile sensors (to detect when the customer physically took the pizza), and a credit card reader. The pizzas were stored in the lower section (with the wheels), and they dressed up the top section with humanoid foam and classic white Italian chef clothes and a toupee (they called it "Luigi"). Through testing, they worked their way up to an unrestricted fully-automated test involving obstacles in the form of "confused" humans and moving cars that didn't seem to pay it much respect, and it avoided all collisions and successfully delivered oven-fresh pizzas without a hitch (at a rate slightly faster than if a human were to carry the pizzas on foot, but they were fresher).
For longer-ranged deliveries, they adapted all of these technologies into a Sedan, as well as a few extra sensors like wind gauges and sensors on the wheels. With a full police escort on a fully automated test, the car made it's way through San Fransisco at what appeared to be 10-15 miles per hour. It wasn't completely road-safe and seemed to have significant trouble maintaining it's lane, but with no other cars nearby it was fine. It then traveled across the lower level of the Bay Bridge (meaning loss of GPS), and it performed fine until it came to a tight hair-pin turn getting off the bridge. It scraped up against the side of a concrete wall and got stuck, and they had to manually place it back into the lane. From there, it reached the destination without any further issues. The trunk opens up, and from there the customer retrieves the pizzas the same way as from the human-sized robot. It delivered the pizzas much more slowly than if a human were driving, and it didn't do it safely, but it did get there and the pizzas were still oven-fresh.
Allowing for 300 years of technological development, it looks like even Saji's job as pizza delivery boy is endangered... He'll have to settle for pizza delivery technician.

That was changed... what, two weeks ago, I think? It's relatively new.Wingnut wrote:I don't know if it's just me being slow here, but I just noticed that Neo here has a new custom rank: Ill-informed Newscaster.
We're trying, but unfortunately we can't know what bad information he's accumulated until he shows us that he's obtained it... which he usually does as publicly as possible.I guess we're not doing our jobs properly in this thread then.
