Yoshiyuki Tomino Admits Story Problems in Gundam Reconguista

Tomino praises the detail and skill of the animation and even apologizes for pushing his staff too far. He thinks the level of the storyboards was not up to par with the sakuga (scenes animated particularly fluidly) since he was "drawing them with the sense of old robot anime." As a result, he feels that the story was "lost" amidst the action scenes and was a big miscalculation. "The principle that screenwriting should prevail over the quality of action scenes was totally discarded."

Regarding the criticism that Gundam Reconguista's story was confusing, Tomino admits that he didn't write the show in a way that was easy to follow. "If I was told that it wasn't understandable because I was bad, all I could say is, 'I'm sorry,'" he said.

Turkish mayor sued over giant 'Transformer' robot statue

Melih Gökçek, mayor of Turkey's capital city Ankara, is being sued for using public money to build a giant robot statue in order to promote his own theme park.

Despite what the article claims, it's clearly not a transformer and is more akin to a knockoff Zaku II.

Gökçek himself has defended the decision. After a row broke out following reports he said: "Respect the robot."

Moviecollection began streaming an interview with director Guillermo del Toro (Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Pacific Rim) on Monday. In the interview, he talks about how he was introduced to the work of Mamoru Oshii (Angel's Egg, Ghost in the Shell, Patlabor The Mobile Police), and how the Patlabor series influenced his Pacific Rim movie. He also cites some other influences in his work, including other anime, and Japanese horror films and manga.

Code Geass: Akito the Exiled Anime Expanded to 5 Episodes

Sunrise producer Yoshitaka Kawaguchi announced at the premiere of the Code Geass: Akito the Exiled anime project's third episode, "Kagayaku Mono Ten Yori Otsu," at the Shinjuku Baltic 9 on Saturday that the project will have a fifth episode. Code Geass: Akito the Exiled was originally slated for four episodes.

The script for the fourth episode has been rewritten to incorporate the fifth episode, and so the episode is being redubbed.

The fifth episode will be titled "Itoshiki Mono-tachi e" (To Those Who are Precious), and is slated to premiere this fall. The fourth episode, "Nikushimi no Kioku Kara" (From the Memories of Hatred), will premiere on July 4.
