News for Capcons EX Troopers Dai Sato is working on the game's scenario. Sato did the script for Stand Alone Complex and Eureka Seven, and more recently Halo Legends and Tekken Blood Vengeance.

Based off Anpo's comments, we can expect at the very least three player co-op.

Apparently people have moved into the abandoned Mos Espa set from Star Wars Episode 1

In The Phantom Menace, Mos Espa was a spaceport on Tatooine and the home of the young Anakin Skywalker while he was still racing pods. Many scenes taking place in the city were shot in the middle of the desert in a region called Oung el Jemel.

The set is still in good condition and is composed of 15-20 buildings, though some are only facades. While there is absolutely nothing around the set, we were surprised to find that some people had actually set up residence in some of the buildings. One person was even selling souvenirs!

Official Gundam Statue to Rise in China

Gundam.info, the official Gundam portal site, announced on Thursday that a 20-foot-tall (3-meter-tall) statue of the original RX-78-2 Gundam mobile suit will rise over Shanghai this month. Bandai (Guangzhou) Co. Ltd., the Namco Bandai Group's subsidiary for toy design and merchandising in China, is erecting the statue in Shanghai at the 8th China International Animation, Cartoon and Game Fair, which will run from July 12 to July 16.

Cast of Takarazuka Legend of the Galactic Heroes Revealed

Yoshiki Tanaka's space opera novel series Legend of the Galactic Heroes will receive a stage play adaptation from the famous all-female Takarazuka Revue Company this fall. The stage play will be performed by the company's Cosmos Troupe at the Takarazuka Grand Theater in Takarazuka between August 31 and October 8, then at the Tokyo Takarazuka Theater from October 19 to November 18.

Not mecha related but for your video game lols: The Tecmo Koei Teiban Series budget re-release of PSP's Sangokushi VIII, released just yesterday, has somewhat of an issue. Buyers who loaded up the UMD found that the content on the disc was actually the game's predecessor, Sangokushi VII.

After all the "mecha-that-is-not-gundam" statues in China, Bandai did put up a real Gundam statue (only 6 meters tall) in Shanghai during the anime and manga expo.
These sites are in Japanese but you should get the idea. The RX78 was modified with some graphics to make is more Chinese.

Japan's Giant Robo BD Set to Include English Dub

The limited-edition Giant Robo Blu-ray Disc box set includes an English dub, according to Amazon.co.jp's listing. The Giant Robo: The Animation - The Day the Earth Stood Still box set is slated for release on October 26 for the retail price of 41,790 yen (about US$527). The collection includes all seven episodes on four discs in remastered high-definition along with the anime soundtrack in a new box, featuring art by character designer and animation director Akihiko Yamashita.

edit: ok I posted this first in Neo's News, THEN I downloaded ep 105 and heard Chris' scoop on the film. Since he's the full time journalist, I'll give him that. But the youtube link for the ComicCon panel gives some very nice info from the horse's mouth nonetheless. Del Toro sounds like a very eager kaiju nerd so I have faith he'll do this film justice.
