Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

Ok here goes my reply.

The discusson on Destiny with Brent was rather interesting to listen and I think Neo made 1-2 good points about the actions of Kira's friends at times, how they would drop in and interfere.

Another instance of this was the Orb and Earth Alliance battles with Minerva and Kira shooting the Taunheiser.
Attacking and enraging Stella and Heine which got Heine killed.

Robot Carnival I can't comment on, however it sounds interesting to an extent with some of the character design notes.

Finally as for the thread on Eureka Seven AO, well, I will put it out there I have critisisms of Eureka Seven the tv show.
To me the movie end up being better because.

1.It's an alternate re-telling and can be ignored if you don't like, however I liked this darker tone and new take on some characters.
2.No war orphan brats.
3.It got more to the point rather then having occassional filler episodes of going off to sky surf or music related concerts or stuff like that.
4.I liked the Devilfish'es new attachment parts.
5.It wasn't as long as the tv series which at times was lacking in some characters, the movie didn't have time for that.

Oh and apart from the 3-4 people who like the movie.
I know someone who likes the movie and tv series(same thing goes for that and Nadesico), so comprehend that one Chris:P
Fyi on Nadesico I liked the movie and series.
Also here is the link for those curious on the thread.

That is all I can say for this episode.

Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

I tried watching Nadesico the TV series only to abandon it in frustration after episode five. I then skipped directly to Prince of Darkness and thought it was okay.

WHAT NOW?

EDIT: Whoa, was that "Reach Out To The Truth" in the episode closing? Nice. 8)

Sure was. A remix by Arc System Works from Persona 4 Arena, in fact.

Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

I enjoyed this episode guys. I remember the video that Brent did and of course Anime Overviewers' response. It's good of you guys to have him on and talk with him. Sure I don't like Gundam Seed much, but I don't like the way I've seen people respond to him, but then again it's youtube.

If I can somehow stumble across Robot Carnival I'll be sure to watch it, but there's no official DVD release apparently? Is there one on VHS? Yeah, I still have a VCR. Most of my anime collection is on VHS actually. XD

I remember watching the Nadesico then the movie, and wiping the movie from my memory which happens a lot. Then I recently bought the entire series on DVD and watched it again, and now... I don't really have any plans to go and re-watch the movie.

Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

Thank you for answering my question. I actually have never even seen a Vita in person until I bought Armored Core V earlier in the week. The d-pad and buttons were surprisingly small, much smaller than on the psp, which is strange because the vita's surface is much larger. Why all the empty space? It was strange, and a bit hard for me to manipulate as well. I would like to get the vita, but I will need to wait until there was actually a game on it that I would like to play, or maybe a new edition with a video-out capability.

I've always been really interested in Robot Carnival, but I have no idea how to get my hands on it.

I am a real fan of Brent's reviews on Otaku, No Video. He's got a good style and an eye for technical detail, and I feel that he is always in tune with what the creators are trying to convey. Often I feel people don't enjoy a show because they are constantly arguing with the narrative or being skeptical of it. I think that's why Brent and I like GW so much; it's because we understand and enjoy its themes and what it's trying to convey.

Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

Great ep as always, loved the Seed Destiny Redux and the (as yet unconfirmed) new Nostalgia Train segment!

It does make me wonder though, If Chris has the Straight Talk Express and Soul Bro has the Nostalgia Train, will Neo be getting his own specialised vehicle segment at some point? Maybe some kind of "Adama-Mobile" or "Automo-Bay" transport?

Also, thanks for touching on the whole "DLC-madness" that has been developing recently. In a way, I can't help but feel that gamers have brought this situation on themselves, but by no means are games publishers blameless.

Great episode guys. the Destiny segment was very good, and seemed to be quite balanced between everyone, and maintained a respectful tone throughout. Robot Carnival sounds quite good.

I have the "News", but I'm down for any new segment, maybe, like WWTAD "What Would The Admiral Do" or great moments in "Bay-istory".

But I could do something car related, it would be "Prius Destruction Squad".

Oh god that's hilarious. Anyway loved the episode. Was wondering how the talk with Brent was going to go down, since I shared similar sentiments to Chris on the video. And now I really want to watch Robot Carnival, even if it's only for the lols of Starlight Angel.

Re: Ep. 098 - Flashback 'em All!

Just finish with this ep, I kept laughing with the whole Mass Effect 3 and SFxT thing at the beginning.

Seed Destiny was a bad series, I cannot understand it (sometimes) how people think that Kira was the main character and not Shinn, and if the Seed movie comes out, Kira is going to get a gundam called Strike Freedom again but its going to have Archangel Mode where the Archangel and Strike Freedom dock up and becomes the Ultimate METEOR.

Robot Carnival is a something I will want to get to, I have been putting it off as it sound strange to me.
