Re: Ep. 102 - Nostalgia Express 999

Great to see you guys reviewed Transformers Prime.

Too add my 2 cents, Knockout is a really standout villain to me with a sweet goatee. Plus his voice actor amazed me because he's very suave and a hilarious racer and pushes Starscream's buttons very easily.

No, I don't think there's anything more to Avatar and making more will be a mistake.

And if we want to place the future of humanity is some singers, let's just go with May'n and Megumi Nakajima. :p

Re: Ep. 102 - Nostalgia Express 999

Thanks for the great episode. I especially enjoyed the mailbag segment. And the music was good, too, SoulBro.

I'm not really a fan of any Transformers works, so is Prime still a recommendation for a person like me?

Also, I finished this while listening to Chaos Theater, so I guess I could share it here, too. The folks on the fb group should have seen it already: http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/ ... an0112.jpg

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the Transformers cartoons (never really have been), but Prime is pretty good. Try it, you don't like no big deal, if you do, then great.

@Chris
There actually are more Gundam novels available in English than just the MSG trilogy and the three SEED books. Bandai Entertainment did release the three volume novelization of season one of Gundam 00 in English last year. Likewise, they published the five books hat summarize the first season of Code Geass, though I'd say those are more of the extra content variety rather than an actual novelization since it's more about stuff you don't see in the anime.

Holy crap, that stinger at the end of the episode, with Peter Cullen Optimus starting off the classic line, "One shall stand..." and then Frank Welker Megatron finishing it?! I'm watching this friggin' show NAO.

Re: Ep. 102 - Nostalgia Express 999

So my thoughts are.

For Transformers Prime, can't comment on it much.
However I've been interested on it, but unlike previous Transformers series not so easy to watch them down here it seems nowadays.
Also if you guys do Beast Wars.
1.I want to put my hand up for joining in :P
2.Chris you need to make mention of the controversial sequel entry Beast Machines Transformers.

Also as for the mailbag stuff nice to finally catch up.
SEED's dub does have it's weak points yes in.

Kira, Lacus and a few others.
I think Flay isn't all bad, I think with Tabitha St Germain she just came across annoying in her tone for her, because this woman has played Roberta in the dub of Black Lagoon, a show Chris knows.

Also yeah the stronger performances are.
Rau (Mark Oliver), Mu (Trevor Devall), Andrew Waltfield (Brian Drummond), Miriallia (Anna Cummer), Murrue (Lisa Anne Beley) and Athrun (Sam Vincent)

00's dub is good and if your looking for a good black guy actor, in the dub for Black Lagoon they could have pulled in the guy who did Dutch from Black Lagoon.
So that would have been one person.

That is all I've got for a reply more for me to reply to this time.

Prime is great, but if you're not a fan of any Transformers series, then don't set your expectations too high and expect to like this show either.

Still give it a try if you're bored, if you don't find it to your liking, then nothing more needs to be said.

Comments about the casting. As you guys have mentioned, Jeffrey Combs performance as Ratchet is one of the stand outs, one him being an iconic actor in Sci-Fi like star trek and whole boat load of other TV, but also famed for his original cult classic HP Lovecraft film Re-Animator back in the early 80s where he really made his acting career.

The ep where Rachet is working on the synthetic energon and tests it on himself with the green glowy syringe is a direct homage to his mad scientist Herbert West character from Re-Animator.

@Chris excellent response to my mailbag Q, I forgot there's a porn star w that name when I wrote the question...but yeah, I can't think of anyone that can top it.

I never read the 00 novels, so I'd forgotten about them. It's still small potatoes compared to the amount of stuff that has been released in Japan.

Funny you should bring that up, i was thinking the same thing. I just ordered the first 00 novel off Amazon yesterday.

Now the episode. Loved the Straight Talk on this one guys, my bro and I were discussing about the Toonami "rebirth" a few days ago and felt the same way, that sadly those days of coming home and watching DBZ and Gundam Wing on Toonami after school are long gone. And, as much as i would love to see an official broadcast and release of Turn A and ZZ, i know the chances of that happening are nothing more than a very far pipe dream. Oh well, will have to settle with what i got.

Thanks for the entertaining 3 hours guys, and can't wait for the next.

Want to put a bit of voice actor knowledge down relevant to things here.
Chris when thinking of who voiced animated Megatron, that is Correy Burton, he voiced Shockwave in the original series and animated also.

I went back to episodes 99- and Mailbag opens with the question AFTER mine. What gives? I've been waiting months.

Remember, Chris is a jerk, so he probably deemed your question unworthy.
