(Fooni)mation Suspends Dragon Ball Z Blu-Ray Restoration
FUNimation recently released a Blu-Ray set with the first few episodes of the series, due to fan demand. They went in and cleaned the episodes frame by frame, getting rid of dust/scratches/saturation/camera jitter etc. Looks like the process was too inefficient for them to sustain and they are looking into going about the project in another way (if at all).

While it isn't mecha related, although there are mecha in the show from time to time, it's more related to the broader point of the feasibility of restoring old shows for the higher quality Blu-Ray format. No doubt, First Gundam and some of the older mecha shows could use a restoration (reversioning, anyone?). Just proves that simple concepts that fans have in their heads don't always line up with reality of the market and technical capability. If FUNimation is having trouble with their flagship franchise, chances for lesser-known mecha shows to get a similar treatment are far away.

Mega Man in Street Fighter x (Cross) Tekken ...

A picture of Mega Man on the site.

On the main site for Street Fighter X Tekken, they have put up a picture of Mega Man, he will be in the infamous Mega Man 1 cover art. With the character bio of
Mega Man

Middle Aged Hero!

Known as a Digger, a person who digs up relics from the past for research. He is a hot-tempered man, but has a strong sense of justice and is also very polite. His weak point is that he is easily rattled when backed into a corner. He is always running around in a hurry due to the demands of his partner Roll, and this time he's been asked to travel to Antarctica to retrieve a mysterious box.
which sounds not unlike the bio for Mega Man Trigger for Mega Man Legends.

Game Director Yoshinori Ono has commented on the choice of design from twitter saying

Capcom’s Ono responds to Mega Man complaints in Street Fighter X Tekken
I consulted with Mr.Megaman(his name is Mr.I...) about it 1 years ago.Its result! ;D RT

@kazuyafan94:Lovin Megaman inSFxTK!But why cover art
Stating it was a result of a consultation from Keiji Inafune.

Street Fighter X Tekken will release in the North America, March 6th for PS3 and Xbox 360 with PC and PSVita coming later.

Soul Bro Ryu, I am sorry but you can have Capcom to yourself and keep it.

Madman also released a statement about their Australian releases after Bandai Entertainment reverted.
Gundam Unicorn and other titltes related to Bandai wont be affected as they licensed direct from Sunrise.

An old story but aparently the robot apocalypse begain back in 2008.

http://www.dailytech.com/war+robots+sti ... e11515.htm
After initial reports from Popular Mechanics and other "more reliable" print news sources, that the semi-autonomous SWORDS war-robots were being "yanked" from Iraq due to their accidental targeting of human entities, it turns out that they only got the story half right.

Meteor Games to publish high-end online game Hawken in December

http://venturebeat.com/2012/02/06/meteo ... exclusive/
The key to the monetization of the game is the virtual goods model, where users play it for free and then pay real money for virtual goods such as better weapons, armor, and defenses. The game will have a variety of mech types, game modes and world maps for its initial release on 12/12/12, or Dec. 12.

The game looks cool in part because Adhesive has licensed the Unreal Engine 3 from Epic Games to power the PC version of the game. Le said the company intends to operate Hawken like a service over a number of years. But it won’t be a massively multiplayer online (MMO) game. Rather, like League of Legends, will be a session-based game, which short sessions where players battle each other for 15 or 30 minutes

George Lucas gives one last F*ck you to Star Wars fans.

http://io9.com/5883949/george-lucas-now ... shot-first
The controversy over who shot first, Greedo or Han Solo, in Episode IV, what I did was try to clean up the confusion, but obviously it upset people because they wanted Solo [who seemed to be the one who shot first in the original] to be a cold-blooded killer, but he actually isn't. It had been done in all close-ups and it was confusing about who did what to whom. I put a little wider shot in there that made it clear that Greedo is the one who shot first, but everyone wanted to think that Han shot first, because they wanted to think that he actually just gunned him down.

New Star Trek game to be released in early 2013. As of yet, it's uncertain if it'll tie in with the movie that's to be released later in Summer of that year.

The game will be published by Namco Bandai and you'll be able to play as Kirk and Spock.

I don't usually jump in on news posts, but you've completely misread that post. Viz has not lost the rights to any of those titles. That website is dropping hosting scanlations of all those titles because Viz sent them a cease and desist. Please read posts carefully before you post news.
