Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted News Articles MK II

Just a rumor right now, but a SEED game for the PS Vita may be coming our way.

http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2 ... to-ps-vita

Titled Gundam SEED Battle Destiny(Tentatively, mind you) will offer MS from:

-SEED
-SEED Destiny
-SEED CE73 Stargazer
-SEED MVS
-Astray
-X Astray
-VS Astray.

Kinda leery to post this, since we all know what happens to sites Neo references. Don't want to lose Crunchyroll.

EDIT:

Rumors get confirmed quickly these days, it seems. Screens in the link.

Bandai desides to pull a Geneon and stops distribution to focus on licensing releases.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... -bds-manga
Bandai Entertainment, the subsidiary of Namco Bandai Holdings (USA) that handles anime and manga in North America, will stop offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases next month. It will continue to distribute in its existing catalog lineup, but it will no longer produce and distribute new releases as of this February.

Instead, Bandai Entertainment will focus on licensing rights to other companies, particularly in digital distribution, broadcast, and merchandising. The company will be restructured as a result, and most of its contractors and three of its five fulltime staff members will be laid off. ANN will publish an interview with Bandai Entertainment President and CEO Ken Iyadomi on Tuesday.

The following releases have been cancelled:

Anime DVD/Blu-ray Disc

Gosick
Nichijō
Turn A Gundam

Manga

Code Geass: Renya (Code Geass: Shikkoku no Renya)
Gurren Lagann volume 7
Kannagi volumes 4-6
Lucky Star Boo Boo Kagaboo (spinoff by Eretto)
Mobile Suit Gundam 00I
Tales of the Abyss: Jade's Secret Memories volumes 1 and 2

Releases in Bandai Entertainment's current catalog will still be available after February, and Bandai Entertainment plans to produce new stock on these existing releases, if needed, until their respective licenses expire.

Remember the BearGuy? Well, now we have Neo-Sweden's Hatsune Miku Gundam. Actually quite impressive custom model of the Nobel. Seems to be the HGFC model, but I could be wrong. The custom painted legs is a really nice touch.

What will be next? A Rose Gundam redone as Byakuya? A Susanoo remade as Zoro?

Suddenly this seems like a great idea.

Hollywood Wastes No Time Securing the Movie Rights to Indie Mech Shooter Hawken

http://io9.com/5834742/unreleased-indie ... district-9
Gamers aren't the only ones impressed by upcoming indie mech shooter Hawken's distinctive style and dynamic combat. Hollywood has taken notice as well, and now there's a movie in the works. A Romeo & Juliet meets District 9 movie.

That's how developer Adhesive apparently refers to the story behind Hawken, according to production company DJ2 Entertainment's Dmitri M. Johnson. His company has managed to snag the rights to the ambitious multiplayer game being created by nine men at the small independent game developer. Apparently a personal recommendation to the developer led to Johnson securing the rights, the team initially hesitant to worry about a movie with the game still in development.

1st Macross Series Gets BD Box with Pachinko Footage
Bandai Visual will reissue The Super Dimension Fortress Macross television anime series in an HD-remastered Blu-ray Disc Box on May 25 for 39,900 yen (about US$517). In addition, a "Complete Edition" will be offered as a limited-edition first pressing for 47,250 yen (US$612).

The regular edition will include all 36 episodes, a booklet (with staff interviews, pre-production designs from when the creators were working on early series concepts called "Genocidas" and "Megaload/Megaroad"), a box illustrated by character designer Haruhiko Mikimoto, and inner jacket covers illustrated by mechanical artist Hidetaka Tenjin.

The "Complete Edition" will add a bonus extras disc with about 100 minutes of footage: a music video collection (edited from pachinko and pachi-slo machine footage), the 30th anniversary special that ran on the Family Gekijō channel, promotional videos from the Macross PlayStation 2 game, the "Macross Special" version of the first two episodes that aired in the original premiere, the original broadcast version of episode 11, the credit-less opening and ending animation sequences, the opening and ending sequences from "Macross Special," the super-deformed version of the opening sequence, commercials of the time, and other materials.

A little old but more info about the Gundam Unicorn game for PS3,
The story for the game will retell the original story of Unicorn from the perspective of 5 different characters(un-named in the article)

Bandai also plan on releasing extra Gundams and missions as DLC, these include Gundam Delta Chi and Sinanju Stein. Players can also pick up Gold Delta Gundam(Hyakushiki?) if they pre-order the game.
The link provides some images for the game.

Hopefully the next time I post a news article about this game, it'll be about its Western release...I can dream can't I?

Warner Bros. to search for writer to re-write Live-Action Akira script

Despite the closing of the production office for the live-action Akira movie, Warner Bros. will search for a new writer to polish the script for the adapation. Once that is finished, Warner Bros. will decide how, or if, they will move forward with production of the film.

This seems ironic and funny at the same time, Bandai puts out of North America.
This movie has a beginning, a middle, a end, and explosions.... and is not a giant blow job to the U.S. military. -Chris, on Transformers 3.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted News Articles MK II

'Blood & Chrome' May Not Premiere Until 2013
No one has heard so much as a peep from Syfy on the shot pilot for the "Battlestar Galactica" spinoff series "Blood & Chrome," but a decision on when fans will get a chance to see the episode is coming soon.

But even if Syfy does pick the show up for series, don't expect a premiere until at least 2013.

"What I love about ['Blood & Chrome'] is we're applying this idea of virtual sets on a whole new level," Syfy original programming president Mark Stern recently told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. "We took photos and digitized all of the 'Battlestar Galactica' sets before we struck them. So when you see two actors walking down a hallway, they're [really] walking down a green hallway. And then we put photo-real shots of hallways and CIC and all the sets we had behind them."

Although the process seems similar to the pioneering efforts of another Syfy show, "Sanctuary," it seems "Blood & Chrome" is requiring much more work in post-production. For instance, even though the pilot for B&C was filmed months ago, Syfy executives only got to see a first cut of the pilot in November, Stern said.

"We're trying to figure out the economics right now," he said. "I love it, but we're trying to put various things together to see how we're going to get it made. My hope is we get it figured out."

"Blood & Chrome" takes place before the "Battlestar Galactica" series but after the BSG prequel series "Caprica," which lasted just a single season. "Caprica" did utilize a lot more CGI background work, but not until late in the series.

The new show, which features a young William Adama on a sleek new Battlestar Galactica, was a tricky prospect because the sets for BSG are long gone (that show ended in 2009). But knowing there could be potential franchise built around the first reimagined series, production crews took extensive photos of the sets so that they could be used in backgrounds in future projects.

B&C was originally produced as a Web-based miniseries, but last year was graduated to full-fledged pilot just before "Caprica" was cancelled by Syfy. Although the Battlestar telemovie "Razor" featured flashbacks of a young Adama first aboard the Galactica at the end of the first Cylon War, this series will take place well before that. It stars Luke Pasqualino as Adama, replacing Nico Cortez who portrayed Adama from that time period in "Razor."

Because of how quiet Syfy has been about B&C, many believed the project to be dead. In fact, reports surfaced late last year that the Battlestar spinoff would actually return to being a Web series again. And that is still possible -- according to Stern, no decision has been made on the fate of the pilot, let alone a series.

"Now that we're back from the holidays, I'm just waiting to get some foreign [financial] numbers in because we're both the studio and network on this," Stern said. "I'm hoping to make a decision [on a series order] in the next month or so."

The "Blood & Chrome" pilot was written by Michael Taylor and directed by Jonas Pate. Taylor -- a prolific writer of "Battlestar Galactica," "The Dead Zone" and both "Star Trek: Voyager" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" -- has worked on a series with heavy virtual sets before. He was an executive producer and teleplay writer for the Fox broken pilot "Virtuality" in 2009, allowing him to work with BSG's Ronald D. Moore once again.

Moore does not appear to be a part of "Blood & Chrome," but his producing partner David Eick is.
