Interesting new PSP game called "the Little Battlers," is being developed by Level 5 (Dark Cloud 2, Rogue Galaxy, White Knight Chronicles) will be packaged with a model kit. You can't make this stuff up:
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/04/10/th ... model-kit/
Apparently it's a mixed media project which will have an Anime, Manga, and plastic model kits (presumably beyond what is being packaged with the game).
I wonder if the game will retail at the same (absurd) price point of a regular japanese psp game or cost more because of the included model kit? Either way, the question naturally becomes: if they did this with a Gundam game, would the inclusion of a Zakerello kit make it the best selling game of all time?

Some Star Wars fans, perhaps jealous over the Japanese Gundam statue, have started a fund raising drive to build a life sized, "fully functional," replica of an AT-AT (the Imperial Walkers featured in The Empire Strikes Back):
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/vi ... Size-AT-AT
Their official site here: http://atatforamerica.tumblr.com/
A choice quote from his "the Dream," explanatory page:
"The AT-AT would become an instant monument of America’s obsession with popular culture and our ability to be awesome."
Well, if their plans to make it fully operational come to fruition, I'd say we'd certainly one up that meager Gundam statue, that's for sure.
Apparently, donations will be accepted "soon," via funding site kickstarter. Kickstarter is actually pretty legitimate; what were they thinking?
No word yet on whether the completed Imperial Walker will be able to shrug off high-powered Rebel blaster cannons whilst unleashing micro-nuke levels of firepower on enemy shield generators.

Aren't they forgetting that even a GM would probably be able to tear an AT-AT apart with it's bare hands?
In any case, I doubt it will happen because from what I've seen, the Japanese are WAY more obsessed with their pop culture than we are.

Gundam rip-off/homage being marketed as dlc in Disgaea 4:
http://www.siliconera.com/2011/04/20/la ... -4-as-dlc/
I'll go with 'homage,' but supposedly Laharl, the protagonist of the first Disgaea, is a huge "Kaiser 4" (ie RX-78) fan - he uses it as a pirate ship for some reason - it travels flat on its back apparently after a slightly funny transformation sequence, complete with core fighter.
The Blonde Ace might be interested to know that there's a Harlock-esque looking ship used as part of Asagi's (the perennial NIS joke character ever since her game was canceled) special attack - as more dlc of course $$
Who am I kidding? None of you will play this game anyway.

Gunpla Builders will be continued as manga in 2 series. Gunpla Builders D and J. It looks like the "D" would stand for Dengeki and would probably be Dengeki Hobby magazine or one of it's many off shoot mags. The "J" version, not so sure of....perhaps one of the Jump mags.
EDIT: Maybe the other version is Hobby Japan. Just going from the scanned page.
