Neo's News - Listener Submitted News Articles MK II

Just like any mecha show, Neo's News is getting a mid season upgrade. Well, not really, due to the size of the original thread, I'm starting a new one.

The response from everyone has been great. Please the rules of posting below and keep them coming.

Listener submitted articles will be divided into two categories, hard news and WTF.
Hard news articles would include production, promotional, merchandising, etc. stories.
WTF articles being just that articles that make you say "WTF!".
Now for the sake of time, I can only select one article for each category. But first....

Just like life, we have a few rules.

1. Make the articles at the most PG-13, we never know who's listening.

2. Make sure the article is mecha related or a broad topic that would
include mecha anime or be anime industry related.
I.E. You've heard the show before make sure it's something we
would talk about normally.

3. When posting your article suggestion on the MechaTalk forum, please
give a brief description of the article and what category it pertains.
Also, be sure to provide a hyperlink to the article.

4. Please view other posts to make sure that you are not duplicating
each others submissions.

5. Have fun with this, but please keep in mind the length of Neo's News
during Gundamn. No four page articles, keep the articles brief. I need
to be able to paraphrases if need be.

That's it for now. I'm sure if these articles are anything like the topics that have submitted, Neo's News will only get better.

Let me see what you got!

Bright to Appear in Gundam Unicorn 4

I was looking at an Italian Gundam blog when I found a promotional scan of the next UC episode which will be titled: "In the Depths of A Gravity Well". The Scan Featured a picture of none other then Captain Bitch Slap, Bright Noa. Additionally, the cover art of the new episode is reminiscent of Amaro in the desert. The episode will be released in the fall of this year.

North American Mecha is something we should all support more of; I hope you would all agree.

With that comment aside, I present you Hawken:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... m7gEDhrPfk

It's a work-in-progress Indy first-person Mecha game utilizing the Unreal Engine and is planned for possible release across PC, PSN, and XboxLive.

As one commentator on the video page noted:

"Ghost in the Shell meets District 9 meets Armored Core. AWESOME."

Well said ser.

Update:
An interesting article over at Kotaku with the creators of the game:

http://kotaku.com/#!5780912

Highlight: "I'm not a fan of humanoid-shaped robots like Evangelion...I think we just lost half of our audience for saying that!"

Implying humanoid-shaped robots are best represented by referencing Evangelion, heh.

Not only that, but this photoshop is already over a year old. Not to mention that this Gundam we see in that photoshop is still the original Tokyo configuration where it wasn't holding the beam saber yet as it does now.

Re: Neo's News - Listener Submitted News Articles MK II

Post Earthquake:

Yoko Kanno, composer most recently remembered for Macross Frontier, put up a "hang in there Japan!" song over at youtube:

youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O8x6_JHD ... r_embedded

ANN article: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interes ... ke-victims

It is unclear who is singing it, but English lyrics for the song can be found within the video's description.

The comments section is also worth a read, as it's already overflowing with international messages of support. Not to be cheesy, but it is all rather touching.

It's probably Kanno herself. Although she's embarrassed to admit she can sing, for years people have suspected her of being the "Gabriela Robin" that always performs on her soundtracks but no one has ever seen.

HARD NEWS:

Famed Australian artist Ashley Wood is joining forces with Bandai for an upcoming Gundam Project. The artist's toy company, called 3A, has been in talks with Bandai for a gundam-related collaboration. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but the leading rumor is that it will be large-scale models of the RX-78 and Zaku II, done in Ashley Wood's unique style.
