FUNimation Entertainment announced at New York Comic Con panel on Friday that it has acquired the home entertainment, digital, and merchandise rights to the “Fafner” anime series and movie. Both the TV series and movie will arrive in 2012.

Gundam SEED HD Remaster Project

The november issue of the Gundam Ace magazine gives some hints on the Blu-Ray edition of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED:

16/9 size
HD quality re-capture
Some existing cuts will be redrawn
The soundtrack will be remixed

* As the source reports this information, it means that each picture/frame used to make the series (with a larger resolution than the DVD standard) will be captured/scanned in order to get a result better than with upscaling the DVD image

G Reko: New Tomino series set 1000 years into the future of the Universal Century.

Early last September, it was announced that Mobile Suit Gundam creator Yoshiyuki Tomino was working on a new SF project called G Reko. Now, the Mechadamashii web site has turned up a new magazine image regarding this mystery proejct, which Mechadamashii claims is "the new Yoshiyuki Tomino anime set over a 1000 years in the UC timeline's future".

Funimation will be doing online streaming for LASTEXILE -Fam, The Silver Wing, on Funimation.com in the Silver Wing section of the site. the first 2 eps are on so far with more eps on the way.

Note: Thankfully, I was afraid that I was going to have to waste my time trying to find fansubs to watch it.

Gonzo had worked with character designer Range Murata (Blue Submarine No. 6, Solty Rei, Shangri-La) on the original Last Exile anime series in 2003. The studio told ANN during last March's TAF that it was developing a potential Spring 2011 project that would take advantage of the new stereoscopic 3D televisions now entering the marketplace. Gonzo also showcased a stereoscopic 3D version of a Last Exile vehicle and four character design sheets for a new project in the works at the fair, although it did not specify at the time whether these materials were from the same Spring 2011 project.
