~ three days after arrest

- Armory 1 -

All personnel that had served with the dissolved Granzi Team had been effectively arrested ever since Owen White's men stormed the ships. Even the junior crewmen were jailed upon the battlegroup's return to Armory 1, along with senior personnel, those in officer positions, and pilots. Only the latter group, however, was put through rigorous courts martial. Shema Granzi was held in a separate cell and given a separate trial.

That even the enlisted men were confined, and that those from Granzi Team were held separately from those being held from other units, spawned a number of rumors about the nature of the whole affair among the men, but, naturally, nobody was told anything.

The conclusion of the various courts martial were yet to be finalized.

~ two weeks after Copernicus Incident

- Armory 1 Command -
- Specific Location Undisclosed -

The small screen displaying the video washed the otherwise pitch-black room with its electronic light. A blurred mirror image splashed against Shema's face, betraying no hint of a response to what she saw.

When the ranting Irishman had finished his threat and call to arms, the video screen went out, leaving the small room in complete darkness. The other woman in the room - she'd claimed to be a representative for a Council member, but Shema had not been allowed to see her face and was otherwise given no clue as to her identity or which Council member she represented. Shema presumed for the the time being that that had been a cover story.

The supposed Council representative spoke sharply. "Now you understand why the situation has changed so drastically. That video was intercepted just six hours ago and prevented from broadcast on civilian channels. These terrorists are definitely the ones who raided Copernicus. The hostage has been positively identified as a Dr. Elizabeth McCrowan, a Copernicus City Coordinator well known and highly respected in geneticist circles.

"It's not clear what they hope to acheive by kidnapping Dr. McCrowan, but their intent is clearly set on moving against Coordinators as a whole, on the largest scale possible."

"I've heard enough," intoned Shema.

"Then you understand why we're giving you these orders, Commander Granzi. You don't have a choice in the matter anyhow, so it was a courtesy on our part to explain the situation to you at all.

"No, Commander Granzi, you know what you have to do, so do it. We'll extend to you one more courtesy in calling in your former subordinates to assemble. We will also arrange for replacements to the two pilots you lost in the incident, as well as any who decline."

"Forcing that kind of choice on them is ridiculous. I was the battlegroup's commander, so I was the one making decisions that day. If the Council insists on a scapegoat for the crime of fulfilling the purpose of ZAFT, then I am the only one who need shoulder that."

"Commander Granzi, the situation has gone beyond a matter of punishment or military law. This has expanded into a situation with potentially grave consequences for our people. In any case, this decision is no longer in your hands."

~ three hours later

- Armory 1 Sector 8 Stockade -
- Assembly Room -

Shema strode into the head of the stockades' assembly room, where the skippers and pilots who'd served in Granzi Team had been corralled. Their former leader addressed them curtly.

"I won't waste time, so this is the point. ZAFT command and the Council have given you a choice in what to do next, and now is the time to make your choice.

"Command has opted to re-form Granzi Team. You all have the option to take back your previous posts and having all charges erased from your records, but you then volunteer for a top-secret mission with a high risk factor. Your other option is to decline the mission and be dishonorably discharged for insubordination.

"Granzi Team is to embark in five hours. You have until then to inform the guards at your cell should you choose to volunteer for the mission."

There was a silence as Shema gazed across the faces in the room. Then she turned and departed without further word. The MPs filed in to lead the captains and pilots back to their holding cells.

OOC: Please remember that your characters still have no knowledge of ATLAS or who really attacked Copernicus, etc. ;)

Now GO GO GO

--Josh Kidden--

The arrests only added to Josh's late string of bad luck, but he liked to think that the worst was behind him. Ganzi's speech essentially went as expected; ZAFT was giving the pilots involved in the screw up an ultimatum, one Josh didn't mind agreeing to. ZAFT left them with no choice but to continue on this "top secret" mission, which made the decision all the more obvious.

Josh had no qualms with the supposed high-risk factor, so his decision was quick and decisive. He was in this for a bit of redemption.

"I'm in..." he had told the guard not long after being placed back into his cell.

No more than a few minutes later, Kidden was back in his ZAFT Red uniform re-embarking the Helga, probably the first to do so. He could only hope that his teammates would join him.

Armory One Cell Block

Well, at the very least they're giving me my commission back. And wiping out my Court Martial to boot. ...Winrar~.

Darius was chewing on a piece of gum in his cell, legs crossed and bent as he laid on the cot. He tapped his foot occasionally on the wall, in time with the opened mouthed chewing of the squishy confection.

Definitely something that was pissing the guards off as one soon rapped the butt of his rifle quite hard against the cell door, the metal ringing and echoing throughout the cell.

"Hey, knock it off in there, prick! You want us to load your a** with lead?"

Darius chuckled and hopped to his feet, stepping over to the small opening in the door, his footfalls echoing from the soles of his boots coming in contact with the cold floor.

"Oh, I'd love to see you try that. Cameras and all, ya know? Or are you just going to cower under a story made up of 'he said, she said?'"

Darius shook his head and turned his back to the guards, leaning against the doorway.

"You can tell your piss monkey supervisors that I'm in. All the more chances for me to play post war 'inferior race mopup..'"

------

Darius too was back in his uniform, and had transferred back to the Cynthia. The old ship was looking worse for wear, but much more welcoming than the cell block had been. With a smirk on his face, Darius kicked his way back onto the ship and headed toward the bridge.

Better make his arrival known, much to the probable disgust of Brant and Granzi..

Unlike everyone else, Michael had actually enjoyed prison for a time, since he was the only one in the entire group who had actually been in prison for his act of 'defection' during Jachin Due. He ate the slop that was called food and kept relatively quiet.

When Granzi had explained their current situation, Michael gave the matter some thought for about five seconds.

Just as the doors closed, he told the guard, "Tell High Command I agree to their terms. I'm back in the saddle."

The doors opened, and in less than ten minutes, Michael was back in his Green Coat uniform and re-boarding the Helga. Just after stepping aboard, he saw Josh who had boarded not just a moment earlier. "Good to see you again, Kidden. You look well."

Josh grinned when Michael arrived shortly after him. He wasn't alone on the Helga afterall, though it was a cause for wonder why Michael would rejoin them. The former defector had been actively voicing his frustrations about Ganzi afterall.

"You look well too. You're probably used to being in prison afterall," Josh replied. "We should be deploying soon. Maybe the others will tag along."

Turning back, he headed in the direction of the hangar to check on their machines. Perhaps by now his GuAIZ had either been repaired or replaced. What he'd be flying out there was definately a cause for concern considering what they've been through.

Marcus had been upset at his arrest, and subsequent grilling by the higher ups. Though he had no way of knowing, he had a feeling that his was more severe due to the fact that he'd made two confirmed kills in the whole mess. He was glad to be out of the prison cell, and upon hearing of the offer they had extended to the pilots, had accepted without so much as a second thought. He would clear his name, either by completing this mission, or die trying.

Despite Darius's attitude and relative ineptidtude, Marcus was happy to see that he had recovered from his wounds and was back in command. Marcus always felt that he was a better follower than leader, so having Raines back was something of a relief to him. He walked towards the ship, smiling. Despite everything, he felt strangely optimistic. He didn't know why, and didn't care. Once he boarded the Cynthia, he immediately headed towards his quarters to relax. He figured that if he was needed, somone would come and get him.

"Oh, yeah. I actually came back because prison grew boring," Michael chuckled to Josh's comment. "I'm going down to the mess hall. The damn slop they call food in prison made my stomach turn more than once. We should have a friendly drink sometime," Michael said to Josh with a smile before they went opposite ways.

-Prison

Hector actually managed to sneak his book pass the search was laying on his cot without pants and giggling like the pervert he is, until he heard the speech. "Wait guys does that mean I have to put pants back on?" asked Hector in his boxers and white tee shirt. "Cause I sorta like the freedom of walking with no pants" complained Hector.

The door opened and the guard punched Hector before letting him walk out as he laughed a annoying perverted laugh that made the guard punch him. As he walked he scratched his ass and when someone whistled he did a little shake "I take coins" as all he said getting tones of hollers and calls.

-The Helga

Hector saw Josh and Michael "Hey guys great to see the you all, but I really miss walking around pantless" but the two left. "Awww man I am bored *book opens* you would think these guys would at least say Hector shut up *Giggles pervertedly* Ahhh the joy of books I am hungry hehehe" said Hector walking off in the wrong direction like always

Before he could head down to the mess hall, Michael saw Hector boarding the ship. Giving a rare smile, Michael turned to Hector and said to him as the man walked away, "Hector, mind joining me in the mess hall? It'll be the first time in days that I've had decent food. Besides, I could use good company."

Arriving in the cafeteria, Michael saw Hector get a plate of food and tear right into it. Chuckling at the hilarious sight, Michael got his own food; an order of french fries and onion rings, seven chicken strips and a glass of Mountain Dew Voltage.

Sitting opposite from Hector, Michael took a chicken strip and tore it apart slowly, enjoying the taste. "Damn, that's good food. So, Hector, how was prison for you? It was my second time in, and let me tell you, it was just boring as hell."

"Dude no rules, me my box, my book and just in my boxers I loved it I lived on tax payer dollars free, all I needed a stripper and a pole" said Hector drinking half a one gallon of fruit punch/lemonade half and half.

"But screw prison whats this about its our job to go hunt and kill naturals? I mean we were attacked first so why is it our jobs to fight them?" asked Hector slowing down before he chocked on a burger.

"I don't really know, all I know is I intend to milk this for all its worth before we have to leave again. But, it's good to see you again, Hector. The only bad thing about prison is that my first real friend in a long time wasn't there," Michael said as he gulped down a handful of french fries, sending some MD Voltage down as well to help with the digestion.

Unlike many others, Carrah didn't suffer much in prison, or had to endure boring days. The guards actually talked to her alot, and in turn she played along during the day. Still, prison is prison, and at night, she cries her eyes out knowing that her road to redemption ended in such an untimely and dishonorable way... Until of course, by the Act of God, she was again given a chance by Granzi (or ZAFT bigs) to go in a top-secret assignment, with the reward of erased records. This is a no-brainer, she simply salutes Granzi.

This is my third chance now.... Better not screw up.

After moments of goodbyes from the guards, she enters Helga, and sees familiar faces. All she could do was smile at the sight. "I assume this is not the goodbye I envisioned since we left Copernicus?"

She didn't go straight to her room this time.

Winry was nearly ready to cry tears of happiness when she was offered a chance to erase the 'stain' on her record. Of course she would sign up!

Twenty minutes later, she was back in her ZAFT Green uniform and heading back to the Helga.

The air group of the Heisenberg, one of the oldest Nazcas in the fleet was happily sitting down at the Armory One Officer's Club for the first of what would be many celebratory drinks now that they were back from a four-month anti-terrorism patrol. Flight Lieutenant Jack Harrington took a slow pull on his stout as he reflected on the patrol. Four bloody months without a port call. What a cock-up. Oh well, at least I'm only one kill away from making Ace he mused as the party for the squadron started to kick off. Then Jack saw three men in the livery of the shore patrol walk in. Since he'd been in port for all of two hours, he paid them little mind until he saw them walking for him. One of them called out "Flight Lieutenant Harrington" and motioned for Jack to follow him. Ah, nuts. What'd I do this time? he wondered. He saw Squadron Leader Boyle attempt to dissuade them, but to no avail. He asked "What is it this time, boys?" to the SPs. The group Lead Petty Officer responded "Sorry, sir, but you have new orders. The Cynthia is going out on a priority mission and is currently short a few pilots. You've been reassigned as a flight lead on her. Your gear has already been moved from the Heisenberg to the Cynthia. You're due there within the hour. We've got a vehicle waiting for you, sir." ZOINKS he thought as he bid farewell to Boyle and the rest of the squadron. Climbing into the SP jeep, he rested a little as the SPs set a new speed record from the O-Club to the port. When he first laid eyes on the Cynthia he had to admit it was a much prettier ship than the Heisenberg. Of course it is jackass, its almost three years newer! he mused as the SPs escorted aboard. The new GuAIZ R's... much nicer than the Valentine Wars-era GuAIZs we were on he thought, happy he'd been given a promotion of sorts. He checked the CO's office, but Commander Granzi was indisposed at the moment, so he went back to the hangar and started getting up to speed on his sweet new mobile suit, still in his red coat.

Cynthia lounge
Edgle Glendrin

Ed had spent many sleepless nights in prison. He was exhausted and terrified still. He had heard many tales of what prison was like. But luckilly he wasn't attacked or anything.

He sighed as he sipped on an orange soda, rubbing a bruise he had received when he was tossed in the slammer.

Things were just happening too fast for him. He wanted to write to his parents but he knew they probably wouldn't even get the mail at this point.

Ed's young mind drifted to thoughts about the current mission. One he knew nothing about at the moment. Where ZAFT going to start a war with the earth again?

If that was true he wished he was still in jail. Ed wasn't ready to see someone like Duke go again.

"Hell yeah, make those naturals regret screwing up my vacation... its too quiet here don't cha think?" said Hector bringing out his portable device, when he turned it on the screen had Sexy Beach 33 extreme edition as a game on. "Errr who put that in there" said Hector quickly switching to music.

The first song it randomly played was some old song by a long deceased artist named Jimi Henderix called All Along the Watchtower. Hector being Hector sang along in perfectly showing off he had vocal talents. But would mess up due eating in between lyrics.

((OOC Edited for grammar that I noticed)

- Nazca Class-Cynthia –
- Hanger –

Captain Zach Brant stood in the middle of what would seem to a civilian as chaos but to any with a trained eye they would see the military efficiency. He hadn’t been too happy at spending time in prison, in fact Zach was never quite happy when he was forced to do something and stay somewhere. He now used his pent up energy to direct the ships engineers in stowing the supplies for this new ‘top secret mission’ Gesturing as the chief engineer, Zach headed towards the door leading towards the innards of the ship.

“Klaus, I want these supplies and parts stowed within the hour. Keep Kolton aware of any of your personal who return.”

Moving towards the main bridge, Zach drifted by a contingent of Security personal unpacking small arms into the ships armory. Returning the salute, Zach decided he too would have to have a talk with Edward Kolton, the man in charge of the ship’s security team. He wouldn’t be caught ever in a friendly fire incident, but the ease of the Cynthia’s takeover and lack of forewarning between the crew had unsettled Zach, he would have to increase security drills.

The taskforces arrest had been inevitable. Zach hadn’t expressed this revelation to the crew, and knowing Shema, she had felt the same thing and had chosen not to convey her feelings on the matter to anyone. Zach had played along when the other white coat had come aboard, and had done what he could to ensure the safety of his crew after his arrest. Coming across a knot of green coats whispering loudly about what they thought the mission was about, Zach barked at them to get back to their tasks at hand. The hallway was quickly cleared as the startled green coats quickly found reasons to no longer be there. As he moved away he couldn’t help but inwardly smile knowing the second he left view they would return to their gossip. He stopped in front of an elevator that would take him to the main bridge.

Pressing the button he leaned against the opposite wall, and found that he to was wondering just what this mission entailed. He was near positive it had to do with Copernicus. But while he had the edge of the puzzle he couldn't quite file in the middle. Shrugging, Zach was content to wait and find out from Shema what he would need to know. Working with the commander had taught him to be more patient than ever.

As the elevator doors came open with a hiss, Zach was semi surprised to find his second in command a Green Coat by the name of Oksana Sirjy already in it. Returning her salute Zach stepped into the elevator and keyed the main bridge. Turning towards his second command he casually raised his eyebrow. Oksana was well versed in the Captains body language and understood what he was getting at, as she handed him a set of files made her report.

“Sir, files on all our new personal. I was just heading to the bridge to give it to you.”

Nodding, Zach thanked her and they rode the rest of the elevator in silence. Shuffling through the paperwork, Zach couldn't help but notice the new pilots who accepted the mission. Duke… You fool, why did you have to go and die? For that matter, why does anyone have to go and die. Shaking his head Zach stepped out into the corridor followed closely by his second command only to almost bump into the hotheaded Red Darius.

The man had proven himself in Zach’s mind as near insane; in the actions he took in battle, and what he later did to the crew attempting to help him. Clearing his throat, Zach stopped and tucked the files under his arm.

“Ahh Darius, I see you volunteered, good, good. Is there anything you needed from the bridge?”

- Nazca Class-Cynthia –
- Engine Room –

“My guesses? Were on some important escort mission, Granzi always has us on some odd adventure or another.”

Four engineers and Robert stood on the catwalk overlooking the engine room.

Another of the engineers followed the words of his fellow with a wave of his hand and a a grunt. “Your wrong, plain and simple. I bet the council has order Granzi to search for Lacus Clyne. After our stellar mix-up they are probably going to hand her an impossible job to get her out of their hair.”

The other engineers nodded with the man who had spoken, Rob simply leaned against the catwalk staring at the engines. He let the engineers banter wash over him. He was thinking back to his encounter with Ed. After Ed had broken down, Rob had stammered a quick excuse and had quite literally ran from the room.

“Wait, won’t that mean dealing with the freedom?”

It wasn't that he hated Ed, he just didn't know how to deal with people in those situations. He was also ashamed at how he had acted when he was supposed to act as the older more experience pilot. Especially since Rob himself at the time was dealing with the guilt of Duke’s death. Following that encounter he had avoided Ed at every possible moment, even when they had been arrested. It’s what brought him down to the engine room, a room Rob was sure Ed would never come to.

“The Freedom? I heard it destroyed an entire fleet of ships, do you think we could handle it?”

Accepting this mission had also been a way to delay dealing with Ed. Rob was pretty sure Ed wasn’t going to accept, well at least rob was hoping he wouldn’t accept. It also happened to be the primary breadwinner for himself and his wife. And the other options certainly hadn’t given him many job opportunities.

“You fool! The Freedom and that other one, the red one DID destroy an entire fleet, two fleets to be exact. Granzi may be tough but we wouldn’t stand a chance. The pilots are coordinators! One of them was the Zala Boy!”

Sighing, Rob stood up and headed for the elevator waving goodbye to the engineers a thought struck Rob. Zala was right, if only he had survived to win the war for us. Naturals wouldn't be causing us so many problems.

So, Granzi Team had, almost to a man, opted to volunteer for the special mission. Only a handful of minor crew - some pharmicist's mates, some junior cooks - had declined and were easily replaced. All the surviving pilots and skippers had readily agreed to return.

There was one addition, however, that Granzi Team did not need. The woman made herself scarce for the time being, but it didn't take a genius to see she would intentionally make herself a problem before long.

No matter. Shema had dealt with much worse. At the moment, it was time for the unit to set out. Shema would be on the bridge for that.

- Corridor, Near Main Bridge -

The bridge, insulated as it was from the colony harbor around it, was silent save for the breathing of the bridge crew, the occasional tapping of workstation keyboards, and the hum of the ship's computers churning. The crew quickly stood at attention when Shema strode in an gave a cold, "At ease." Neither Brant nor Oksana were present.

She stood next to her command seat, rather than sit in it, and peered out the canopy to the surrounding dock and the constant work. So many ants, working ceaselessly toward a sacred goal.

"Inform the battlegroup that we depart immediately. Helm, take us out as soon as we receive clearance."
