Sume Gai

"whatever works; it played out more like Donkey Kong to me, Donkey Kong with anti-material rifles, but Donkey Kong nonetheless. If you ever need a high speed ground unit give me a call. The VARIS may be small but it packs a surprisingly good wallop. Now if you'll excuse me."

Gai turned and headed for Kirie next not wanting this opportunity to pass him by.

"Greetings Kirie, I'm Sume Gai, but you may call me Night Chaser, if you want. I'm the pilot of the Lancelot over there." Gai pointed to the berth that Dwarfed the Lanclot and it's gear.

- DC attack force -

As the planners had expected, only about half of the missiles made it through the defenses. However, armored modules were much more maneuverable, and smarter than a missile.

As such it wasn't long before turrets and AA posts began dropping like flies to the coordinated attack of the DC Lions. Railgun shots pierced armored shells and missiles shattered foundations as a path was being carved in the base defenses leading to the castle.

It was too easy.

"Why have they not launched their mobile suits yet? Even if we caught them totally flat footed they should have been able to respond with them by now." pondered the squadron leader of the team that was assigned to deal with any that launched to oppose the attack.

"Well, if they just want to sit around that's fine with me. 3rd assault unit, follow me! If the Fandom doesn't launch their suits, then it'll be target practice for us taking them out on the ground!"

About 1/3rd of the total force turned toward the mobile weapon hangers to live up to their leader's boasting while the rest continued to wipe the floor with the automated defenses.

Ishikawa only smiled as more and more waves of DC armored modules swarmed the courtyard of Osaka Castle. More than 50% of the automated defences are now disabled or destroyed; But it wouldn't matter.

"Lockdown of the lower facility is complete, sir! Lockdown power reactors are online; bunker hatches secured and locked. Transition into insulated hardline comms complete."

"Lockdown finished."

"Upper floors report EMP emitter fully charged at 120% and ready."

"Understood. Mobile Weapons and garrisons are to stand by and commence attack on DC intruders after 20 seconds. Upper floors, prepare to fire..."

Then, timing himself, Ishikawa gave another three seconds.

"Fire the EMP!"

Suddenly, in disciplined response, the base of the main keep of Osaka Castle began lighting up with a flash of static electricity and blue light...and a second later, this blue light erupted into a single, wide outwards explosion of lighting, enveloping the upper levels of Osaka Castle, the courtyard, and Osaka Bay with a super-powerful burst of crippling Electromagnetic Pulse that would likely disable even the DC's powerful armored vehicles. In unison, surrounding Osaka castle, the city lights shut down and power went off for a good twenty blocks. That can be fixed later.

The upper building was likewise shut down, but the underground facilities had been successfully locked down and, with its own supply of power and its own insulated hardlines, was untouched by the attack. Some of the Mobile Weapons at the fringes of the explosion that had launched and spread away from Osaka Castle had not heeded the warning and found themselves forcefully shut down, but most of the garrison had been unharmed; Dutifully, and after five seconds had passed after the EMP attack, over sixty Daughtress Flyers, Daughtress Weapons and GN-Xs that had not been affected by the EMP converged on the besieged DC attackers and fired a variety of weapons at the exposed waves to turn the tide.

To say that it was a disastrous turn of events for the DC would be an understatement. All but a few of the armored modules in the air suddenly had all the grace and agility of a brick as they plummeted to the ground even as the Fandom defenders continued to fire on them. Those that could still fight back were quickly overwhelmed and soon joined their comrades on the ground.

Fortunately for the DC, their submarines were outside of the blast radius and were unaffected. They still had some armored modules left, but nowhere near enough to counter the force now bearing down on them.

A well played trump card, Commander Ishikawa. It seems you have forced me to become more than just an observer for this operation.

Deep in one of the submarines a man in a white coat boarded what many would say to be the most powerful machine in the DC arsenal.
Powering it up Shu recalled why he was even here in the first place.

"I want you to accompany the attack force on this operation, Shu. The Fandom portal technology is still experimental, even for them. I want to know what your impressions of the device are and how we might put it to use."

Bian's words echoing through his head, Shu exited the Killer Whale and found a sizable welcoming committee waiting for him.

The Granzon took to the air under its own power and began charging an attack between its hands. The ball of energy then flew above the Granzon and suddenly multiplied many times over.
Now then, it is time to see if you are truly worthy opponents. "Graviton Cannon, hassha!"
With that command the balls of energy went streaking toward the Fandom mobile suits with deadly intent.

-Osaka-

Now, don't get one wrong; The Fandom were not the pushovers the Gundam Party had led everyone to believe. They were prepared for a Federation counterattack; They were prepared for the DC. And in the contingency that Bian himself came to seize the portal, they were prepared to have to deal with the Valsion as well --- even if all the intelligence they had to go by on its abilities were the black boxes retrieved from the ruined base on the South China Sea.

But this was not the Valsion, and the oversight was deadly. While the Fandom pilots were sensible enough to try to get the heck out of dodge when the Granzon charged its cannon, nothing could possibly prepare them for the scale in which the attack was --- the resulting gargantuan explosion of graviton energy obliterated over half the force of Daughtress Flyers and Daughtress Weapons in a single blow, although most of the GN-Xs managed to evade the deadly swarth, surrounding the Granzon, continuing to attack it with everything they had to give.

Ishikawa's eyes narrowed and his lips curved into a frown as he watched from the command center screens. Very good, Bian. Very good. This, I'll admit, is a deadly oversight on my part and it might end up costing us this battle. But it's not yet over.

The Commander-in-chief turned to the comms officer to his right. "Give the Shinsaibashi Squad the green. Take that weapon down. Have our remaining squads continue firing at it until the Shinsaibashi Squad have clean shots."

* * *

"Acknowledged, Commander. Commencing attack."

That was when three other Mobile Suits, placed with the intent of catching Bian's Valsion off-guard, suddenly emerged from behind the Shinsaibashi Stone Bridge that gave the district its name, stood up, and aimed their unusually long rifles at the hovering Granzon: Three Type-2 Armament Xeku Einses. In unison, converging on nearby points on the Granzon to inflict maximum penetration, these three Xeku Einses then took a half-second to aim their Beam Smartguns...and fired, sending concentrated, searing blasts of energy flying at the unknown robot before spreading out to find other hiding spots.

-Emily and Kirie-

"I call him Night Chaser all the time!" Emily smiled, waving to Kirie. "It's his character's name."

"Uhhhhh, yeah, I'm sure...Emily, was it? Nice to meet you." Kirie nodded, watching Emily subsequently walk away to revel in the abilities on her new Prestige Class before turning to Gai and shaking his hand politely. "And nice to meet you as well; I'll call you Night Chaser, then, if you do not mind." Kirie whistled at the sight of the Lancelot. "It's a fine machine, Night Chaser. I myself pilot the Musha Gundam, over there by that other hanger," Kirie pointed to his right, behind him, where the samurai-like Gundam stood. "Yeah, I know what you're thinking...I like swords, what can I say. I'll be bringing it over in a minute, so you can take a closer look at it then, if you want!"

Although half of the enemies had been wiped out, Shu knew that he would have to deal with them just as quickly and standing still was not going to do it.

Igniting the thrusters Shu made to engage the enemies just as a trio of beams came at him from ashore.
Had Shu still be standing still, they might have been a threat, but having moved caused their precise aim to falter and not achieve the maximum penetration effect as they hit the warp field.

Snipers? Converging beams onto one point to tru and break through, huh? You've covered all the bases it seems. Shu thought with his trademark smirk on his face. But you are still not strong enough.

Shu powered up the beam emitter for the worm smasher attack, but did not generate a portal. Instead Shu simply sent a mass of beam shots out in the directions of the enemy suits as the Killer Whale subs joined in the fight as well with a hail of AA missile fire at the Fandom flyers, then proceeded to launch the remaining armored modules to take care of the rest of the Fandom defenders while Shu went for the base itself.

Ishikawa sighed, shaking his head, as Shu's Granzon began pounding on the main keep of Osaka Castle to unravel the bunker entrance, and the other armored modules were joining in to finish this battle as the GN-Xs swerved and engaged those as well, beginning to suffer losses between keeping a stream of fire at the Granzon and the remaining wave. He underestimated the Granzon; while the GN-Xs could probably wipe out the other armored modules, they stood no chance against the Granzon, and one of the Xeku Eins that couldn't dodge in time was destroyed. The other two managed to take cover behind the buildings and were taking aim at the Granzon again.

"Sir! The unidentified robot has found the bunker entrance and is beginning to attack it! We estimate it will break through in 3.7 minutes if not stopped!"

Ishikawa put his hands in his pockets. Aside from the obvious, what could he do now?

"Continue attacking the DC forces with emphasis on inflicting attrition rather than strategic value; Destroying that robot is not possible right now. Have the Xeku Einses keep it occupied for as long as possible."

A second's pause. Ishikawa snapped his finger, opening an internal channel. "Portal room. How's the dismantling going?"

"No good," Was the reply. "We've dismantled half and managed to destroy the blueprints and experimentation data, but the parts are just too complex and unstable. We can't speed this up without risking a catastrophic explosion!"

"Understood. Do what you can."

That was that; It was a good run, and the DC will be remembering this battle for the losses they suffered, but it was over. Ishikawa nodded to himself and began walking away, out of the war room; Just as the exit door hissed open, Ishikawa turned around and pointed at the comm officer. "Continue your objective for two minutes, then signal the surrender, cut the hardline and evacuate the facility. Have remaining Mobile Weapons fall back towards Tokyo afterwards."

With that, and saluting the officers around him with a proud gesture, Ishikawa left the war room and began walking to another section of the facility. It didn't matter if the portal fell into the DC's hands; With Osaka's notes destroyed, it would take months for them to recreate the working portal on their own. More than enough time for his own plans for the DC, and Bian, to come to fruition.

The hard fought battle was finally over. Thanks mostly to the power of the Granzon. The DC had won the day, and although many of the armored modules they brought were destroyed, a surprisingly high number of the pilots had survived. Advanced crash protection in the cockpit saved many from death on impact and the total loss of their electrical systems prevented any potential sparks from setting off something that could have exploded.

The Fandom had put up what was discovered to be token resistance after the Granzon broke their lines to allow an escape for their comrades and with the high losses of armored modules, the DC was in no shape to give chase to those that ran.

To make matters worse, the Fandom had almost completely dismantled the portal itself.

"We expected that they would get rid of all the data on it, but they managed to take apart the portal itself farther than we projected." said Shu over the comm to Bian.

"I see. Bring back everything that you can and we'll find our own ways to make this beneficial for us." was Bian's response.

"Understood." Terminating the transmission Shu turned to the remains of the portal and smiled. The Fandom was underestimating his intelligence and the DC itself if they thought that doing this would delay making the portal operational.

Bian had connections in very high places even after splitting from the Fandom, and there were still those who were well connected that were willing to help him.

Gai had to admit he liked the Musha, it's Samurai ascetics made it look rather fierce. and the load out was very impressive looking, if somewhat archaic.

"Nothing wrong with a good blade or three; My Lancelot has some very interesting swords on it as well but I won't bore you with the details. I see you've met Emily don't be too put off by what she says she's reliable and I have to admit a lot of fun to be around; just be careful about..."

leaning closer and making sure Emily was too close he whispered "...mentioning XP."

Tallis Stenner

Tallis' crew had finished the maintenance (with her incredible enthusiasm pushing the work forward extremely quickly) when she noticed the nearby Musha Gundam.

'is this one coming too?' forgoing an internal monologue she be an to speak aloud going into another of her fangasms..

"That armor must be custom made! I haven't seen anything like it before; and those weapons make it feel like a giant Samurai! I LOVE IT!!!!!"

Fandom European Headquarters

"So, Mr. Zabowski. As you can see, the Bawoo K is fully flight ready and with the test sorties you've provided us in the unit, we can safely say that she's combat ready. You've been cleared for installment within a Mediterranean patrol group within the Fandom Terrestrial Air Force, the 172nd Fighter Wing to be exact. You will be operating along side a wing of new GN equipped GuAIZ units."

Mike arched a brow at the thought of them grafting GN units onto one of their mainstay suits. Were they really planning on using the GN drive and it's derivatives to bring the war to a new level? It was an interesting thought.

"Yes, the new FMX-200A Combat GN Unit Equiped mobile suit, or CGUE. A flight of four DEEP Arms types will fly cover and escort for you as well as observation for the time being, to see how the Bawoo K performs in combat, and to see how well you can rack up against a new Federal offensive that we fear may be in the wind."

"You mean the new Middle Eastern front that the Federation planned on opening to cut Oil out of the picture."

"Yes, that and much more that we've found through scraping through the AI you provided us. It seems that they're planning some sort of offensive near Israel and Egypt, and since the Oil is mostly situated currently in the central Middle Eastern area, we can only guess that they're going after the Suez canal to plug our access to the gulf and the sea lanes toward the Indian Ocean."

Mike nodded, as he couldn't do much else. He was now a commissioned pilot for Fandom, and this was his first assignment. To take on what they feared to be a new offensive in the mid east. What a joyous day..

"I see. Well I will do my best to at least hamper them until your main forces arrive to relieve us. I hope that we at last run into the Gundam team so that I may be of the most use."

"We're counting on that. That's why we sent a coded message using Federal codes to the team to notify that one of their men is now in Fandom control."

"What..?"

"Don't worry about them now. You're to be suited up and in the air within the half hour to rendezvous with your flight and make the transfer. That's an order."

Mike stammered for a minute, but then blurted out a response.

'Y-yes sir. On my way."

Mike saluted the officer and senior technician that he'd been talking to and then tugged the rest of his flight suit on. It was a black flight suit similar to that worn by the Neo Zeon during their 0093 insurrrection. The visor had a reddish orange tint to it, hiding the pilots face from even video communication. With the helmet securely fastened he hopped into the Bawoo K and made the necessary preflight checks. The suit, in MA mode on the ground, began to fire up it's solar furnace and taxied out of the hangar and down a taxiway toward one of the shorter run ways on base.

"This is Kilo Mike One, ready for take off. Requesting clearance."

The Radio crackled to life with the voice of one of the base control personnel.

Roger that Kilo Mike One, cleared for take off on runway Three Seven West.

"Copy. Kilo Mike One, taking off."

On that note, Mike fire walled the GN W engine and a flurry of green GN particles burst from the drive cone on it's back, hurtling the black MA down the runway and into the air. Four CGUE DEEP Arms flew up along side him and in an arrow formation they proceeded south toward their base of operations in the southern Mediterranean area.

-Osaka-

Somewhere during the mid-21st Century, the Emperor of Japan had decided to put in an underground bullet train beneath the Kanto region and Honshu for quick, uninterrupted land travel between cities; a private luxury train car most comfortable that ran from the Emperor's Palace in Tokyo to Osaka Castle itself. During the Fandom's hold on Osaka and the conversion of the area underground into the research facility, they expanded on the train route by adding more trains as a quick means of ferrying supplies, personnel and equipment between Tokyo and Osaka.

Sitting in the lead train car --- the Emperor's own in times past, an elaborate affair with Japanese-style floor cots, low tables, and mattresses for resting --- Commander-in-chief Ishikawa Shigetaka smiled to himself in satisfaction. There was no confusion in the evacuation of the facility after the surrender was announced; Most of everyone orderly filed for the underground bullet trains and headed to Tokyo that way, while those that were not designated on the trains used the emergency exits to the outer moats of Osaka Castle.

After the last bullet train took off, the charges the Fandom planted some distance into the tunnel were set off, collapsing the tunnel with not only concrete rubble, but also strategically-placed metal junk that would take concorted efforts to remove, hence rendering the tunnel unusable; By the same token, those very charges detonated also cut the insulated communications hardlines that run from Osaka's underground facility to the Fandom's other assets in Japan, preventing the DC from being able to hack into the Tokyo mainframes from Osaka...or to interfere in communications to any of the Fandom's other bases, for that matter.

It would be a matter of time before the DC figured out and assembled a working portal of their own --- they were good, Ishikawa had to admit.

But not infallible; never infallible.

Looking over some notes on a clipboard while seated on a mattress with his legs crossed, Ishikawa snorted deviously. The Divine Crusaders as a whole were not invulnerable --- Ishikawa proved that today. Only the appearance of machines like the Valsion and Granzon saved the DC from being routed altogether, and aside from those two very machines, the average technological gap between the Fandom and the Divine Crusaders wasn't too overwhelming. And Bian himself was Human --- many of the Fandom tended to forget that fact --- and had Human weaknesses, as any other. Masamune wasn't the only person on that very mission to open up one of such weaknesses on the 'legendary' DC leader; he was only one of many, an excuse to be rid of him. If he finds Lune before the others do, good; If the DC kill him off for Ishikawa in the process, all the better.

And the data they gathered on this new robot --- the Granzon --- it isn't much from the brief appearance, but it'll do. It's a step towards counterattack; at least now, the Fandom knows exactly what to expect in dealing with the Divine Crusaders. Ishikawa nodded. Indeed, this war won't be against them for long...

-Kirie-

Kirie didn't want to know what that meant, but he nodded nonetheless. "I'll keep that in mind, Night Chaser. Thanks. Say, yours is called the Lancelot, right? Maybe it's got some cool medieval-looking swords...I like those, too."

Then a snippet of pink-colored conversation caught Kirie's ears, causing the boy to blink. It was good to see so much positive acceptance of the Musha Gundam, Kirie smiled uneasily, but it was bordering on creepiness...creepiness that Date Masamune embodied. Nonetheless, staring at Tallis, her liking the Musha that much would mean she'd be extra careful with her work there, so he'd not need to worry about work accidents during maintenance...

"Tch, I prefer beam blades to solids. Never have to unsheathe them."

Gai first thought it was Zangetsu but the tone of voice was wrong; It must be Zaraki.

"you really should know better than criticize a pilot's machine; especially when you haven't even seem him in action with it."

turning to Kirie and at the same time indicating Zaraki "this is Zangetsu, though currently he seems to Be Zaraki; It's some kind of multiple personalities slash newtype thing."

"Sure I haven't seen in action but, that could be fixed easily. You'd just have to get in your gundam and fight mine." said Zaraki as a sadictic grin spread on his face.

"No!" said Zangetsu. "These are my teammates, not enemies back in you go Zaraki. I'll let you out when Lowind comes." Zangetsu turned to the team. "Sorry I was out, Lowind's precense had an unusual side effect."

Bio had returned to the second landing base, and was surprised to see Otto was there with his Ock Zaku. Apparently he had been sent via hidden orders from Ross.

Currently Otto and Bio were engaging in practice bouts, and Otto was doing fairly well. His manipulators were mobving very fast and Bio could barely keep up with them.

Finally they sat and rested, Bio turned to Otto, who was eating a ham sandwhioch, his long hair kept falling into his face.

"So why were you sent here?"

Otto looked up and smiled, wiping some crumbs from his mouth.
"Cause, Ross saw that things were about to take a turn he hadn't anticipated in. He knew I was second best pilot there so he sent me here to team up with you."

"What of Octavious?"

"We don't know, he's been distant lately."

Bio turned his head and stared back at the arena.
"You really kept up with me in there, you've been practicing huh?"

"Oh yeah, you should see me when I get guns in my other arms, I can take down a whole buncha guys."

"Really, I'd like to see that."

"You just may, I've gotten reports of battles about to flare up west of here. We may be sent there soon."

"Where did you hear that from? I haven't heard anything."

"Our mole in the feds. While she hasn't really done anything useful tat was a bit of good info."

"Sweet. Okay," Bio stood and stretched, "You ready for another go?"

Otto jumped in his Ock and started it up, "You bet!"
