Round 3, Fight 7: Neo England vs. Neo Australia

THIRD GUNDAM FIGHT
ROUND 3, FIGHT 7
NEO ENGLAND vs. NEO AUSTRALIA

- Tennessee Hills -

December 12th

In a slightly slanted area hundreds and thousands of locals had arrived. Having a bit of a jamboree. Their local music filled the air with many exotic southern instruments.

The two gundams had a mountain inbetween them. And both were facing opposite directions. The mountains would be able to provide some kind of cover. But they were teething with locals. So it wouldn't be too nice to shoot at em.

"I'm surprised this match is even happening!!" The announcer proclaimed from his jetpack. Trying to stay as far away as the locals as he could. "Representing Neo England We have The beautiful the stunning the magnificient Adrianne Hunt and her Hawker gundam " The Starry eye announcer paused for a second "oh and her oppenent...Blade Dundee Outback gundam Neo Australlia."

"Let's get this fight started!!"

It's been a relatively peaceful 6 hours of sleep for Adrianne, until the news came about concerning last night's little bout. They are now apparently under Neo America's microscope. I shouldn't have been goaded by that ****er... Ah well, it was worth it seeing him getting slapped silly...Serves him right for being an arrogant little *****.

"Don't worry about the fines," Robert calls out, "The Government is covering all expenses. Apparently the Prime Minister didn't mind you trashing the Claymore Gundam some. Focus on the match!"

"Right!" Adrianne says. Carrying 3 beam arows, 6 heat-seeking arrows, 12 piercing arrows and 15 explosive arrows she yells to the referee, "Ready!"

Any normal Gundam Fighter would be offended by the utter bias shown towards him/her by the announcer, but Blade is not your typical Fighter. When his name is called, the Neo Aussie fighter turns towards the hill in front of him and chambers a round into his rifle. He heard of this Sheila. She’s a sniper with arrows.

“Roight!”

This Missy’s got better sight and strength, but I’m fasta then `er. An’ I’ll wage-ah I got range on `er at boot.

Blade Dundee is ready to start the fight. So far, he hasn’t done that well in the Finals and he wants to win this fight to prove himself to his Nation, but Ms. Hunt is likely looking to do the same. She was defeated before the finals, and now has returned. She has as much to prove as he does. The only way to tell who will win is to actually fight it out, so Blade gives the readiness signal.

Adrianne feels that she has the advantage in this match, as she can unload arrows faster than her enemy can unload a bolt action rifle. Also, the rocky hill terrain can let her creep around and fire ammunition in controlled arches.

She begins to creep around the hill, slightly crouched, trying to find the Aussie...

Blade walks in a counter-clockwise direction around the hill, rifle raised. He knows that in order to beat the Neo Englishwoman, he must keep her at a distance too great for her to use her bow effectively. The bolt action of his rifle will allow him to chamber rounds quickly, or at least quicker than it will be for Adrianne to grab an arrow from her quiver, notch it, and draw the string of her longbow. Still, while he can out range her and put projectiles down range faster than she can, she has the greater ammo capacity. In terms of fixed armaments, the Outback only has a slight advantage in bullet size for the shoulder cannons, but the Hawker is better suited for melee. If he exhausts his rifle ammunition, he’ll be in real trouble. The boomerangs can count as mid-range weapons, but the Hawker would still have the advantage with its arrows and franciscas.

Forming a plan right now is futile, anyway. Too many variables. It will be best if he just focuses on the here-and-now and deal with later when it comes.

Adrianne, still slowly walking, sees no sign of the Aussie. She started to walk faster, drawing an explosive arrow in the process, still walking around the hill. The two fighters' paths were about to converge....

Quarter-way around the hill and picking up the pace, She crouches low to find the Outback Gundam, then jumps above the trees. and fires directly at it! A piercing arrow ejects from her quiver right after, and she grabs it for the next shot. Adrianne lands right back, now staring the Outback Gundam with a piercing arrow at the ready...

According to the data, she will most likely come out victorious if the two combatants ended up in a competition by exhausting their weapons face-to-face, so she can get away with less hiding and more rushing.

Blade sees Adrianne as the arrow is shot, but he knows he can’t get a shot off before the arrow strikes. More instinctually that consciously, the Neo Aussie jumps backwards in an attempt to avoid the arrow, which works… kinda. The arrow flies back where he’d been and lands in the dirt. Upon contact, the arrow explodes, and the shockwave knocks the Outback off balance mid-way through its leap.

The Outback lands clumsily on its, with Blade just now realizing his mistake.

Crickey! Explosive tipped arrows?!?

Blade rolls backwards, until his feet hit terra firma, and uses the momentum of the roll to help him stand up, with his right foot back and the rifle butt firmly against his shoulder, barrel lined up perfectly with the Hawker, crosshairs settled between it’s eyes. She has the advantage in terms of ammo, so ever shot must count. Taking a deep breath and slowly exhaling through his mouth, Blade waits for her to make the next move.

"Heh..." was what Adrianne mumbles when she sees the Outback gundam obviously taken aback by the detonation. Haha, it does that to opponents alot...

The Outback ended up in another sniping position, resulting in a standoff, where both of them are pointing their weapons at each other. There's pretty much no other option; one move would result in being shot at anyways.

...The piercing arrow is fired, aimed right at the opponents' face. She drops down below tree line quickly to avoid return fire. Hopefully she's quick enough to mess up her opponent's aim.

As soon as the Hawker’s fingers twitch under Adrianne’s command, Blade squeezes the trigger, sending the high-velocity round down range. After he fires, Blade tries to get the Outback out of dodge, but the piercing arrow is already in the air. As he side steps, he manages to move the Gundam’s head out of the way of a fatal shot, but not far enough for a clean getaway. The arrow grazes the Outback’s cheek, leaving a long horizontal scar.

The Outback takes a few steps back, walking slowly as he rotates the bolt counter-clockwise and pulls back to open the bolt and eject the spent shelf before shoving it forward to chamber the next and rotating the bolt clockwise to lock it into place. Raising the rifle once more, Blade scans the area to see where the Hawker will pop up next.

Dropping down to take cover, the bullet gets a piece of the Hawker Gundam's decorative hat. Adrianne feels it, but not in any sort of pain. She did not know if she hit the Outback Gundam in a good spot. She'd confident she hit, though.

Adrianne gets annoyed, as this could be just a dumb game of hide and seek. She says, "Hmm, I don't like this; it's getting boring." Right after she sprints up to her maximum possible speed while staying as low as she can (no doubt she's visible now thanks to the trees getting knocked around). With three heat-seeking arrows at hand, she fires one, two, three in rapid succession while trying to make a run at the Outback Gundam in an inwards spiral clockwise, closing in while following the hilly terrain.

Blade begins to dodge the arrows when he notices something peculiar. They change direction mid-air!

Rioght! This Shela’s got some sorta homin’ arrows!

The Outback Gundam reaches behind it and grabs one of the half dozen heat boomerangs stored on the rear waist recharge rack. Even as his hand comes around to through the weapon, it begins to fold out into its proper shape. With the swing of his arm and flick of his wrist, Blade sends the boomerang out, already taking on the orange glow of a super-heated weapon. As the glowing, spinning mass that is the heat boomerang passes in front of the heat-seeking arrows, they are drawn to it like moths to a flame. The two leading arrows are suckered away, where they try feudally to match turning abilities with a boomerang. In the turn, their momentum bleeds off and they crash harmlessly into the ground.

Feeling cocky, Blade is about to make a remark as he gets ready to catch his hastily thrown weapon when he realizes something. There were 3 arrows! The 3rd must’ve been too far away to take the bait! He his about to take evasive, but it is too late. The arrow is too close.

The arrow collides with the Outback’s upper left chest/shoulder area, causing the massive machine to stagger back as it imparts its energy into the Gundam, even as it pierces the arrow. The suddenness of the impact and the instant sharp pain cause Blade to loss his hold of the rifle and it drops to the ground, but the Outback does not follow. The Outback stays on its feet, even as the boomerang whips by where his hand should have been to catch it. Neo Australia’s Gundam does not even flinch as the boomerang slams into the ground, kicking up dirt as it imbeds itself. Slowly, the glow of the weapon dissipates, along with its heat, but the Outback still stands. Reaching up slowly, Blade grabs a hold of the arrow’s shaft nearest to the wound as he can. With a twist of his wrist, the shaft snaps like a twig. The arrow head is still lodged inside, but that will be for the mechanics to remove. His arm is stiff, but he is sure he can still use it. In his first match of the finals, he witnessed the Neo Egyptian Fighter, Seth, take a high-powered rifle round to the gut of his Gundam and still go on to force a draw. Perhaps Blade can do it, too. Go on despite the pain.

With sudden, lightning quick movements that only aggravated the wound just above the Gundam’s left chest vent, he reaches down and grabs a hold of the rifle before sprinting to grab the boomerang and making for the cover of some trees, opening up the range between him and the Neo Englishwoman even more.

"Well whaddya know, the bloody seekers actually hit a fast target!" Adrianne exclaims. Although, one out of three is still far below initial expectations. She scores a clean hit on the Outback. Closing in, Adrianne prepares for the next shot ---one that could put a hurt.

however, while posing to grab the next ammo, Adrianne would feel a slight annoyance when once again the Outback Gundam tries to run away. With its speed, it clearly has enough to get away from the Hawker Gundam. It was also quick to get into the trees. Hmph!...

Adrianne tries to rush again where the Outback disappeared. She has an idea where he might be hiding, but just to play it safe, she takes the initiative. She fires two explosive arrows simultaneously in Outback's assumed position, to 'blow it out of it's hole', so to speak, and get the enemy moving again before it gets comfortable with its crosshairs at her.

The two arrows together may even have enough firepower to start a wildfire in a frosty Tennessee winter.

The explosive arrows detonate against trees as the Outback moves further into the wooded area. Blade was kind of hoping that Adrianne would follow him into the woods, but such is not the chase. However, such is not the case.

Taking a knee near a tree, Blade raises him rifle again and puts the Hawker in his cross hairs. Normally, he would shoot center-mass, but there is too great a risk for a cockpit hit. The head is nice, but to small of a target. Legs. Arms. The choice is hard. Go for Victory, for disarmament, or for disablement. The former is too risky at the moment, so he goes for the latter. The cross hairs fall to the left cafe of his opponent and he squeezes the trigger. As soon as the round is fired, he moves to another position, heading to his right to keep from getting spotted.

Sorry, Sheila, I have no intention of losing this match.

Seeing the arrows detonate and create some fire (much to the dismay of the Neo-American preservationists yet again), Adrianne continues to close in on the spot.

Then, a sharp pain registers in her thigh---a gunshot! Looks like the Outback got into a sniper position much faster than she had anticipated. The skirt armor did wonders to mitigate actual damage dealt to the suit; but it did not stop the pain Adriane is feeling. Gah, he got a shot on me! Dumb dumb! A shot to the same spot could be dangerous.

Frustrated, she quickly steps past the fire, only to see the Outback, surprise surprise, not there. She quickly grabs a heat-seeker arrow, one out of three left, and fires it at a 25-degree arch. It didn't even need to hit; that wasn't the intention (it would be nice though). It quickly veered left---and Adrianne followed with a toothy grin. Walking towards the arrow's direction, she fires one more seeker arrow, just to solidify the presumed location of the opponent.

The Neo Englishwoman actually comes looking for him. He smiles as he lays down his rifle. A heat-seeking arrow hits a tree in front of him, but fails to spear him (but not without trying). Blade stands back up and reaches behind him.

“BOOMERANG BLITZ!!!”

Blade grabs the first pair on boomerangs and throws them one after another. The next pair are thrown with the same intervals as the first, and again with the last set. All of the boomerangs are in the air, slicing through trees, their super-heated blades insuring that the cuts are clean, though they are fast enough not to cause any fires.

The first one should be returning to him shortly, to keep the intervals between boomerangs evenly space, unless it found its target or something was otherwise strong enough to disrupt its course. However, what can stop one will unlikely stop them all.

And though it is unbeknownst to him, the heat-seeking arrow that was after him has now impaled a tree after veering to his left, trying to track on one of the heat boomerangs.,

The heat seekers were accurate at guiding the Hawker Gundam into the Outback's position. It was forced to pop up, however, with no weapons in hand.

"BOOMERANG BLITZ!" The Neo-Australian says, preparing its signature move. As it launches the attacks, Adrianne gets the hint. With her father commanding on the radio "NOW!", Adrianne automatically grabs the appropriate ammo---six explosive arrows.

"I've been waiting for this!" Adrianne proclaims, "Sensors---Track them all!" Her mobile trace immediately recognizes the incoming threat(s). With her arms glowing, she counterattacks with ther own six-fold attack.

"BARRAGE!!!" Six explosive arrows, each aiming to down each of the incoming boomerangs. Since they're more or less in the same vector, one or two hits on the boomerangs can cause an explosion, triggering the nearby explosive ammo to cause chain reaction and detonate as well, causing massive explosions that will likely distract the aim of said boomerangs.

Braving slightly to the left of the catastrophic fire, another pain registers---this time on her right shoulder. It's armor is completely off. Looks like one of the boomerangs still got through clean. Plus, her sensors indicate a boomerang going through the explosion. Gnashing her teeth in pain Adrianne ups the ante: "SNIPER MODE!!!"

Sensors become brighter, as well as the Gundam's blue-and-green pair of eyes. Adrianne knows that the Outback wasn't holding it's gun---the perfect time to launch the blitz. She continues to charge with her hands still glowing, grabbing an axe and hurls it...

“SHARP-SHOT MODE!!!” Blade is quick to follow Adrianne into super-mode, and even quicker to leap out the way once he finds out that she’s reaching for a weapon.

The glowing blade of the axe passes just by the Outback’s head and in mid-roll he is able to catch his first boomerang before it imbeds itself into his stomach.

Blade comes out of his jump-roll a bit in front and to the right of where he was, in the perfect position to catch the last surviving boomerang, his arm cocked to through the first one should the Hawker make any moves.

Bloody hell, how did this Sheila manage to shoot down 4 of mai boomerangs?

His rifle out of reach, he sees only one way to end this match, and he doesn’t like it. Not a bit.

(OOC: Axe has no heat/beam capabilities)

The Neo-Australian isn't willing to lose a step so easily, as he immediately powered up to avoid losing ground. With increased speed, the Outback Gundam avoids the axe. But it was merely a distraction.

While the Outback tries to catch the boomerang Adrianne must keep the pressure up. She was already reaching for the beam-tipped arrow.

The Outback has now caught the boomerang, and has already assumed a stance. The Hawker Gundam has already pointed the beam-tipped arrow towards her opponent's neck, hands glowing.

She strafes a bit to her right, then stops, stomping her foot on something. The sniper rifle. And then..."SIIIDEEWIIINNNDAAHH!!! Echoing through the hilly landscape, Adrianne unleashes the beam-tipped arrow at medium range.

The raucous roar of the crowd is only beaten by the immense sonic boom following the fired projectile. The beam-tipped arrow had cleanly destroyed the Outback Gundam from the neck up.

"YEAHHHH!!!" Adrianne exclaims with a battle cry. She then kicks the rifle back to where her opponent had been standing.
