Round 2, Fight 14: Neo Romania vs. Neo Cuba

THIRD GUNDAM FIGHT
ROUND 2, FIGHT 13
NEO ROMANIA vs. NEO CUBA

-LAKE SUPERIOR-

December 10th

This was the exact same fighting platform used in an earlier match up in this round by Neo Norway and Neo Spain. It was probably one of the smallest arenas used in the Gundam Fight games. But it's small area always went meant an up and close personal match. Sometimes the fighters even get a little wet.

This was a rather unpopular match to begin with. The arena was selected because it was one of the more popular match set ups. Gundam Officials where hoping it would draw in more spectators. Of course it worked and many American's packed their side of the shore while Canadian's lined up the other side.

The announcer sniffled slightly, from aboard his news copter. Magical Mic in hand he prepared his lungs and opened his mouth. He was sick. He was gonna make this as quick as he possibly could.

"In this fight we have Jose Espada from Neo Cuba and his revolution gundam coming up against Neo Romania's own ACHOOO~ Excuse me....ugh ah Neo Romania's own Demichi Fathom and her Spellbinder Gundam!"

The crowds just all cheered at once for both fighters.

"AhhhhhCHOOO!!!! Sorry!!! Could the gundam fighters *sniffle* Please signal their readiness."

His head raised up to see that it was time to show them all the power of his nation... He had been waiting for the next fight with godlike patience and now everything was falling into place.

Standing up Jose felt the mobile trace system coat him with the special suit that would let him control his weapon of destruction. This was far ahead of his time in a military mobile suit with its standard cockpit... But then again this felt a lot more comfortable too. Once ready he clenched his fist and with a set the hands of the Revolution on the duel submachine guns and was ready to draw the first shot. This battlefield was small and allowed his weapons to be used without any trouble.

"For Cuba!" He yelled as he signaled he was ready for the battle. His ammo was filled, his heat machete had been sharpened to a razor's edge, and everything was ready to kick some serious tail. This whole world would bow to Cuba and embrace Marxism. He had righteousness on his side and destiny would serve him in the end. Besides he had a few tricks to ensure his victory anyways... He didn't make his high rank in the military without playing dirty a few times.

With a lit cigar and machine guns at ready Jose and his Revolution Gundam were ready to fight, and ready to win.

'He did not just mess up my introduction...'

The late-teen pilot from Neo-Romania had only that in her mind as she heard the officials make their general introductions for both sides of the match. Oh, there was probably something about the fight in the orange head of the woman, but first impressions were important and all. With the sudden call for participation Demichi was just glad that she wasn't eliminated after her last, and less than glorious loss. Funny her team-mates failed to read the rules, but they weren't present for the moment.

"I'm always ready!"

It was a loud announcement, made by the loud individual as the SpellBinder burst out from its maintenance bay and onto the field, striking a usually menacing pose with the machine's main weapon; the Scythe. A dark Gundam it was, but an open and lit space should do just fine, so long as people were cheering for her.

It made little sense to move the Neo Spain referee from his location as the Lake Superior arena was being used again this round for one of the new matches that had been set up.
He didn't understand the politics of it all, but a job was a job, and he had one to do here.

A smile came over Jose's face as the enemy took position and drew his scythe like the Reaper. Too bad he had seen more in his life to be afraid of some snazzy new Gundam. His fingers twitched and then the signal came...

The ref gave the go and Jose drew the first move with a quick draw of both his submachine guns. Then with a click he poured armor-piercing rounds at the enemy Gundam in waves. He wasn't letting up this time... His last lose had been a fluke and this time he was going to finish the battle quickly and smoothly. And if the enemy moved to avoid him his Revolution gundam would shift with the fire because he had the enemy locked on and wasn't letting go until the ammo ran out in those clips.

"DIE!" He yelled in blood curling fury. He wanted this guy done quickly so he could move on.

And so it begun. Demichi had been rather confident right then, until the opposing Gundam drew its weapons and began to fire, and fire. Having some good use to its speed the SpellBinder broke into a dash to its right, bullets riddling the area behind it as it continued to run. A moment's late reaction was all it took before bullets skimmed over the surface of the wings on Demichi's fighter, and fair being fair, she felt that. Though far from serious, the feeling of bullets ricocheting from her shoulder blades wasn't exactly pleasant either.

"The guy's crazy!"

Finally the bullets stopped coming, and Demichi had her shot. Kicking off the ground the SpellBinder twisted its body towards the Revolution, its right arm following shortly as it brought the Scythe around. Of course the two fighters weren't in range for a swipe, but that wasn't Demichi's plan anyway. The lower end of the weapon unfolded a second bladed edge, and as the arm came forth the Gundam released the weapon. Like a spinning saw the Scythe flew ahead, tilted on a diagonal just so to clip off the opponent's left arm and head. The odds of the Neo Cuba fighter standing still weren't good though, and so the machine cannons of the Spellbinder fired on towards the Revolution's right, attempting to catch its arm or more if it moved.

The enemy Gundam definitely proved to be a dangerous opponent as it avoided his initial barrage. Too bad though Jose followed it through and placed his weapons back on his hip to draw his heat machete. The blade glowed a violent red and he followed the enemies movement with a twist and retreated a little to put a bit more distance between them. This was good though because the nasty scythe like weapon was then used like a range weapon against him.

"You not catching me by surprise..." His Revolution might have lacked power or armor but it made up for it in reliability and he didn't waste any time pulling himself to the right side dropping in low as the weapon spun past him cutting through the ground and causing a mess. Now machine cannons were blazing at him and he retaliated with his own head gun and charged forth brandishing his weapon to cut the metal skin of the enemy unit. Though half way through the movement he had the handle of his machete hooked to the heat wire in his right hand and threw the weapon like a javalin at the enemy unit before giving a yank to slash it across the enemies position. Machine cannon rounds were lodged in his left shoulder armor as well as his upper left chest. It had stripped some armor away but that was pain enough to get in closer cause that left arm drew his left submachine gun and switched it to beam fire so that when his machete came back to him he fired 3 shots at the enemy units new position should it had dodged his swing.

It wasn't so much as surprise when the Revolution dodged the Scythe as it was frustration. But you couldn't expect someone to just stand in front of something that can, and will cut you in half. Demichi hadn't anticipated an attack from her opponent to come while she was making her own, and in the exchange of fire the SpellBinder found several bullets embedding themselves in the long shoulder plating on the left shoulder. Oh yes, that was most certainly going to hurt.

The other was charging straight towards her, not a good sign.

The Revolution had returned an attack by throwing its heat machete, but then it made a move to slash right across her Gundam. But this was nearing true close combat, something that the darkly fighter was built for. The right arm swung across its front, the arm-mounted heat rod lashing out to meet the machete before it came too close, deflecting the weapon off course. Unfortunately Demichi had missed the submachine gun, giving her a moment's notice before beam rounds clashed across the side of the SpellBinder's left hip. She bit her lip, fortunate that the side skirts gave cover to the hips.

"Ok, now I'm pissed."

She didn't like getting hit, it reminded her too much of her last fight. The Gundam moved forwards towards the opponent, both arms moving inwards before the second heat rod snaked its way out of the arm. With a swift motion both arms snapped outwards from the body, both heat rods following at a length just right for their ends to snap at the Revolution's head, ideally hoping to break it in three. Though that was all that came from the Gundam, it wasn't all that was going to happen; the whirling Scythe had its time, getting a moderate distance away before it began to return like it was designed to do. It came back straight to the SpellBinder spinning on a horizontal axis, and at about chest level. At the current situation, it would continue to come right through the Revolution's position into Demichi's waiting arms.

The wire mounted machete came winding back into the Revolution Gundam's hand as he watched its deflection by the enemies heat rods. The enemy unit was mounted with so many weapons he couldn't keep them straight... This was sad because he felt severely underarmed in this battle.

"Crap I really need to think of something else..." The short Cuban muttered as he saw the heat rods come at him again. He pulled the Gundam back and then dropped down to let the rods fly over his position instead of hitting his head. Then he made a side roll to avoid a down slash on him by those same heat rods but noticed that the scythe came spinning through his previous position. It would have cut him right in half if he had been standing there still.

"Wow... Lady luck in on my side." Jose thought as a bead of sweat came down his face. His enemy had its weapons back and his Revolution had retreated out of melee range just to replace his machete with his second submachine-gun and reloaded both with another clip. Now that they were refilled his fired three bursts of armor-piercing round leading the enemy unit should it move to avoid the shots. He was also moving to keep the same distance between them should the enemy unit move to avoid his shots.

Though the SpellBinder had the Revolution out-gunned, so to speak, Demichi didn't have her foe outmatched. At least not yet, but there was still time to pull something off. As the opposing Gundam moved out of melee range and the Scythe was back in Demichi's grip, the heat rods were retracted so to not get in the way. The Neo-Romanian fighter knew well by now not to stand still against the gun-bearing Revolution, but having to catch the Scythe gave her no other option for a few select moments. Fortunately the Cuban stopped to reload his weapons.

Moving quickly Demichi had little choice but to shield herself from the majority of the attack, turning the SpellBinder's side to the Revolution and angling the right wing so that it gave some cover to the frame. Bullets impacted the face of the wing, going somewhat deeper than expected and causing the woman to give a loud squeak. Outwardly the suit kept its form of composure, if only for the fact that the communications weren't on and the Gundam couldn't imitate its pilot's facial expressions.

The Neo-Cuba fighter was lucky to have missed the meeting with the Scythe, and in a way Demichi was lucky too since she could risk the chance of being disqualified if something happened to her opponent. Now she was going to give her foe another chance to kiss the blade, but with a lot more intent and purpose than before. The SpellBinder turned back to face the Revolution, releasing the Scythe early to send it spinning to the other Gundam's right. This time the flying weapon was connected to the SpellBnder's right arm by a long and thin tether, and as the suit continued to twist the Scythe changed direction suddenly in an aim to slice the Revolution's legs off at the knee.

As the weapon would continue whether it hit or not, the arm moved again in an almost graceful manner, the Scythe following as it twisted upwards, then down hard towards the Cuban's left shoulder, and effectively upper chest. Pulling the wire back, the SpellBinder kicked off with its thrusters allowing the Scythe to come back and then up into its grip. A quick gain in altitude wasn't too difficult, though the nicks and holes in the right wing didn't make for too good of an aerodynamic form. Demichi didn't mind it too much, simply firing off a handful of rounds from the head-mounted Vulcans at the body of the Revolution.

Jose grew frustrated at the enemy pilot as it dodged his shots and leveled its scythe for yet another attack against him. This form of attack was annoying because he had seen it before and as she threw it like a boomerang he jetted backwards to avoid being chopped up again. This time the attack was different as the scythe moved up and down almost taking him apart but Jose had a plan of his own.

Quickly the scythe came down and he used dug in to use the broad barrel of his machine gun to connect with the shaft of the scythe. He could almost feel as the blade scratched his upper chest but it didn't penetrate enough to cause serious injury. But with the staff blocked he connected his heat wire too it and pulled away quickly to the side that was touching his chest. A long scratch could be seen on the Gundam's upper body like a deep scar but that didn't matter. He had the enemy and with that he sent a stunning blast of electricty through the scythe, through the wire connecting it to the enemy unit, and into the Spellbinder Gundam to damage its internal systems while it was taking air. He hoped that his attack would buy him enough time to do this.

"Check..." He locked his two machine guns together and sent a short barrage of high powered beams at the enemy. He wanted to make swiss cheese out of the enemy unit and finish this match while he had a chance.

At first Demichi hadn't noticed that her Scythe had brought back something with it, but she sure as hell felt it bite her. The shock from the apparently electric heat wire, which the opposing Gundam had managed to snag onto the spinning Scythe, found its way to the right arm. As soon as the shock hit the limb the wire connecting the Scythe was pulled off the weapon, allowing it to fall to the ground below and behind the SpellBinder as it lodged itself in the ground, the second blade automatically folding back in. A rather loud bang came from the right forearm as a cloud of smoke puffed out of the openings in the wrist and elbow, the limb giving an involuntary twitch.

The arm above the elbow was virtually useless now, letting off a few twitches of the fingers as the only response to Demichi's sudden recoil. This however spurred on a new reaction from the Neo-Romanian fighter, her Gundam's orange eyes turning red alongside a similar tint falling over the displays in the 360 degree cockpit. Something she didn't quite get the chance to do previously, as her Fighter entered its super mode and gaining a large boost to its speed and offence. Ducking out of the way of the beam barrage wasn't too hard for the agile fighter, with its outstretched wings being the points where the beam fire had managed to score a few additional hits. Those wings quickly pulled back though, a section of them unfolding as dual barrels of the SpellBinder's thermal cannons came froward.

At the current distance the concentrated thermal blast would have a large area of effect, and with the Revolution's light armour the weapons would be able to do just what they were designed for; stripping the opponent's armour clean off. The cannons fired at a downward angle at the Revolution just as its barrage was ending, firing so that the opponent was in the centre of the broad strike. They fired only once together, the SpellBinder launching its chain anchors down to the ground before the suit began to plummet. A controlled drop was what she aimed for, with the SpellBinder hitting the ground and skidding back a short distance down on one knee.

The chain anchors drew back into the hip compartments as the cannons slipped back into the wings, the Romanian pilot clutching her right arm as she waited for the smoke to clear.

Jose didn't score the hits he wanted but he did get enough to make that last venture acceptable for the injuries he obtained. His Gundam was performing much better than he had hoped and he was feeling as if he had the chance to actually win this thing. That was until the enemy unvailed yet another weapon from the wings he had so previously put holes in. These two cannons made Jose rethink his position and before it could fire he was already taking drastic actions.

Drawing his heat machete the Revolution pulled to the left to get out of the center of the blast and used the super heated edge of his machete to cover his arm and prevent it from begin shredded by the blast. Once the blasting was done his large knife was smoldering and warped all to hell. Basically it was now useless as he threw it aside. His right arm was also mangled pretty badly from the shoulder down and its reaction time seemed to lag but that wasn't enough to keep him from continuing the battle. But now he was lacking his own close combat weapon and was forced to rearm itself with the gun he had exchanged his blade for. But to his surprise that gun was also damaged by the previous attack. He was down to one gun now and that ticked him off.

"Damn piece of junk... I guess I'll have to finish this quickly." So taking aim, with his good left hand, as the smoke still covered them Jose sprayed the enemy's location with the last of his bullets in the clip. He also fired a burst from his head vulcans too in order to increase the chances of hitting something.

Well, that was bad. In spite of the damage that Demichi had inflicted onto her foe he was still active, and discharging weapon fire at her at that very moment. With a jolt the SpellBinder rose to its feet, only to meet bullets in the right side of its chest and shoulder. A quick response were a chain of curses, that for the sake of any younger audience allowed to watch weren't broadcast. She didn't have the time for anything overly spectacular, as the super mode did leave her defences rather limited and bullets began to break into the armoured protection of the upper-left body as she had no choice but to use it as a momentary shield. She could see the Scythe lodged in the ground behind her, but out of reach by some distance. Turning her back on an opponent? Definitely not an option.

Instead Demichi did what she always took pride in; making quite a spectacle of herself as the Gundam charged forward at the Revolution, closing the distance with its increased speed as the head vulcans fired at the upper body of the opposing fighter. Demichi would wait until she closed the distance into close combat range before the left arm moved to the right hip, swinging out a weapon that ignited its beam blade quickly. A beam sabre slash to the head seemed the most appropriate way to end a fight quickly. Well, hoping to end the fight quickly. Having lost the use of an arm would mean a rather bad thing if it dragged on much longer than it had to.

Jose held his position as the Spellbinder Gundam came running at him. They were about to finish this battle and whoever came out on top this time would win the battle. Jose fired several more bursts of his machine gun at the enemy unit as he came in in response of its vulcan burst. These were absorbed using his busted arm as a shield. Then the enemy unit drew its beam saber as Jose brought his busted arm up to block the beam saber as well as it could. It wasn't worth much else since the vulcan fire had locked it into an upright position that resembled a block, so why not use it against the beam saber. This though wasn't all he did. His still useable left arm snapped forward to launch the heat wire directly at the cockpit and then deliver the final killing shock. If he could hit the cockpit he would kill the mobile suit enough to pull his sub-machine gun up at that same cockpit and unleash 3 beam shots. His arm was bond to be cut off by the intense beam and it would cut through the head of the Revolution but he would hit the cockpit. That would mean a tie in most books but he would really win. A hit to the cockpit like this might hurt the pilot but he didn't follow the rules and fighting dirty wasn't below him. This was war and war wasn't pretty.

Demichi thought she had her opponent right then and there, with the bullets she ran past, and in a few points into, were of no concern so long as the Revolution didn't move. And strangely enough it didn't, choosing to take the beam sabre with its arm. The SpellBinder shifted aside slightly, just so that Demichi could shield the Gundam's body while keeping the blade moving in the same motion. It was then that she saw the Cuban's intention as its arm rose up to her fighter's chest. On instinct Demichi moved her right arm to block, though the Gundam's arm wasn't quite as willing to listen.

The shoulder, other than having taken some damage outwardly, was still responsive enough to move the arm in the way of the drill heat wire. The forearm wasn't strong enough to take it, though, and past the weapon breaking right through the limb's armour, the shock completely removed the shoulder from the Gundam. If only that was the last of her worries, the SpellBinder was about to be hit by the least expected of moves, and by all means the lowest tactic that any competitor could sink to.

The left arm pushed harder, Demichi being able to feel her sabre cutting through the Revolution and just wanting to help as much as possible. It was then that the light of the beam rounds tore into the cockpit. It wasn't a direct hit as such, and though the first beam penetrated the cockpit it fortunately missed Demichi, though by a rather small margin. She could feel the heat of the beam on the side of her body before it went on to burst out the back of the cockpit. The second just clipped the side of the cockpit, but visible from the inside, while the third hit at the left chest.

The Neo-Romanian fighter was committed to the slash, and managed to see it through as planned. However, after completing it the SpellBinder stumbled behind the form of the Revolution, flipping over and skidding on its back a few metres before coming to a rather unglorified stop. One way or the other, the match was now more than likely over, but as Demichi lay on the floor of her cockpit, quite clearly seeing the sky above through the hole punched through it, she could only think, and scream, one thing.

"You... PSYCHO!!! What the HELL was that!!"

The head of the Revolution was chopped off by the beam saber causing the Gundam to shut down. He was out of the match but the pilot was laughing in a rather evil fashion. He turned around to see that the Spellbinder Gundam had the holes in it he had been looking for and it was out of the battle too. He just kind of stood there grinning as the girl threw a fit and yelled at him, calling him a psycho. That didn't bother him any though because he didn't lose, and that was all that mattered.

"All fairs in love and war little girl. Get over it or get off the battlefield... Your not dead so count your blessings because next time I won't miss." He said this keeping the enemy in sights even though they were both done for. Besides she tried to cut him in half before with that scythe so this was payback. And attempted murder for an attempted murder...

He laughed again thinking about his mission here and why he was fighting in the Gundam battles.

(OOC: From now on the thoughts of the referee's will be in italics.)

That dirty bastard. He did that intentionally. She took his head off too, but he's still not getting away with this!

The Neo Span referee activated an automated system on his comm panel that sent a signal to the Neo American "Minutemen" mobile suits that were waiting hidden on the shore and it would take less than a minute for them to get to the ring once they got the signal. They were in place for just such an occasion in case a fighter decided to break the rules and the referee needed armed support to enforce them. Seeing as the Revolution Gundam had lost its head they might not be needed, but it was better to be safe than sorry as many Gundam fighters were formidable even without their machines.

"This match is now over! The winner is Demichi Fathom and the Spellbinder Gundam! The Neo Romania crew may now retrieve their fighter and Gundam."
The Neo Spain referee's voice now became hard and stern.
"Jose Espada! Do not move or leave your Gundam! You are under arrest for violating the rules of the Gundam Fight which forbid the intentional targeting of an opponent's cockpit. Remain where you are until the authorities arrive!"

A quartet of 19M-A-MS Minutemen are soon making their way across the water, flying over the waves with their backpack and leg mounted thrusters in an finger-four formation. As 1, the mobile suit team lands on the floating platform, quickly leveling their weapons at the Neo Cuban Offender, the heat bayonets glowing orange, a clear sign of their readiness to be used.

“Jose Espada! This is Captain Gregory Hantz of the Neo American Army! You are ordered to dismount from your Mobile Fighter with your hand up!”
